I just can't fathom this statement., I guess it's what you call Michael Bay syndrom (Explosions, Explosions Explosions (robot chicken reference) For me CGI is a step down overall in movie making. Take a look at this. Here's a trilogy without CGI, And a trilogy with CGI, "Bigger" name cast with the same director with the same "vision". One set of movies is iconic, one set of movies is widely scorned. The question to me must be asked - Why do people in 2010 turn back to watch movies like Casablanca, The Hidden Fortress or The Shining? Simply because a good story, powerful acting and a perfect mix of the two creates a film that makes an impact on those who view it. If CGI is all you care about, will you watch Avatar in 30 years? or will it be to "painful" to watch, Must like people praised beast wars in 1995 (first 3D) Cartoon, in 2010, it's hard to watch even for die hards. Plot, Acting, these let movies stand the test of time. CGI, is a gimmick, and although it can cut cost, over the test of time many "great" movies in your for cgi I'd wager you'd have a hard time returning to decades later? Ever watched and enjoyed black and white film? Ever seen a C or D grade Horror flick and enjoy it? Theres a reason films like Citizen Kane never drop below $10 on sale, and "cgi" films that have impressive visuals and nothing else - Drop price quickly.

I still think avatar is nothing more than a glorified version of cowboys and Indians with a nice earthy story. No amount of CGI can make a decent film great.

I would give you a decent explanation into understanding the movies. Because if you don't think these movies are great, you probably do lack the intelligence to recognize their artistic value (let's not even talk about appreciate it). :) I'm going to tackle this. Inception is about as close as to arthouse as the average moviegoer will ever get. It's not going to compete with 8 1/2 or Yojimbo or Salo, it's not designed too. I'd like to think of myself as a film aficionado and i've seen much deeper and meaningful movies than inception, however it's not a bad movie. For starters, it's miles better than Avatar, a movie that I still don't get how the hell it got half as much as it did. I don't really think Inception is hard to grasp, a mentally retarded person could probably grasp most of it and walk away feeling satisfied. But it is for an action movie, not a mindless shoot em up (no pun intended) - it's a thoughtful movie with plot that is simplistic ,yet complicated depending on how you wish to view it. Inception is better than alot of shit thats pumped out, and in that regards, I can see why it's *must see*. I still think Following, is a better Nolan movie, I do think i'ts a must own for DVD collectors, and it is probably a film that most casual cinema fans could stomach a time or two. Not perfect, not Amazing, Not mind blowing, but a solid top movie that should be one of the top films of the year on almost everyones list.

I see, but where is it? Does it supplement the brain or coexist with it? if it defines you, does it undermine our free will to think and do what we wish? Does it carry on when you die?

I went into Inception hearing constant praise from people of different likes and dislikes (hard to avoid water cooler talk and FB feeds) and was stunned by the high critic ratings and some people saying it's the best movie "this decade". I went in with high expectations, but not watching a trailer at all or knowing much about it other then it's praise and I came away pleased, it's not the best movie this decade, and i'd give it a solid 8 easily, and I loved the fact the movie could mean lots of different things, but I can't critique any part of it. I didn't expect as much action, and figured it would be like Following. I did find amusing that the main character was named Cobb. It's an intellectual action movie, and I praise nolans use of his usual actors, they worked well here. Overall - Give me a 2-3 disc special edition blu-ray and i'll buy it release day, and I RARELY buy a film on release day Inception, not what I expected, but pleasing in every way. More intellectually provoking than a Mind****, but still very satisfying.

Ah, okay. Mystery solved then. What is this in Israel? it looks amazing and worth visiting, but I don't recognize the landmark at all.

Nothing, Just trying to create some interesting topics in OT that 1) interest me and 2) may make into some interesting intellectual threads.

Do we have one? does one exist? if it does, what is it? I want to see your views on what a soul is and if they exist, and bonus points if you debate people. ~Das

The supergirl is actually a model. Since she uses the same name as the buffy character, gave up on googling her, but thats a professional badge for industry pro's - not regular fans.

My Dad is a 40 year+ dedicated laker fan (his favorite player was Rambis) So as a kid, to be a smartass, I went for the "REAL" Team from LA. it's not a bad team this year. Gordon/Davis/Griffin/Hofford is a tough lineup, I guess Gomes will be the other starting forward? Foye off of the bench? Best lineup in years. Bledsoe might be great too. This kid healthy should be great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_zIAgFKdtg

Considering the Lakers signed Barnes today, Pauls probably not an option. The Hawks have a solid core. They didn't lose anyone, and Jordan Crawford is an excellent rookie. Josh Smith is an excellent player who brings alot to the table, Joe Johnson is great (albeit overpaid) and Hofford is beastly. I think they had a horrible beating in the playoffs sure, but they will be back and certainly won't lay down when they play the heat. The magic Lost Barnes, Added Duhon and Quintin Richardson. Barnes is good on defense sure, but Richardson can play guard or forward, has experience and in my view is an excellent replacement. Duhon is more of a back up to J Nelson, but is more of a floor general and an upgrade over Jason Williams/Johnson. In my view, they got better (clippers fan here)

i'd go for older dudes personally romy, Younger guys will probably give you more grief. Personally I gun for women my age or older except under rare exceptions.

It was Faye  I happen to know who she is, removed due to her affiliation lol..? I had no idea who she was until a few minutes ago when I received an E-Mail from my older brother who sent me the picture explaining who she was, and it turns out that she's a porn-star. <_< Either way, she was very attractive. Nah, I think it was removed due to the fact her breasts were pretty much hanging out. Here she is clothed. I normally don't go for porn stars autographs, but shes one of the few I would.

Too true, and to be honest I would say if most men were raped by a woman, they wouldn't report it for fear of humility and embarrassment. I think the only people who would welcome rape from a woman are desperate virgins who don't realize that they probably would be the ones being penetrated. Heh. Here's some fun stats on Rape from america, probably old and dated a bit, but relevant http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/sexual-assault-offenders http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/sexual-assault-victims http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/frequency-of-sexual-assault http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates Women make more noise, have more groups to rally behind and can play victim a hell of alot easier. According to a recent Louis and Harris Poll 41% of men who said they were harassed claimed the harasser was another man while 100% of women claimed the harasser was a man. simply put - Harassment that goes un-actioned can lead to lawsuits - Lawsuits are bad - it's easier for most companies to fire/discipline the male (Especially in states like NC where you can be fired at anytime for any reason) than deal with the he said she said bull that will go down in the courtroom. I've seen harassment cases unfold and the male always got screwed. It really varies state to state but most harassment policies are zero tolerance. Regret rape is common and CAN Backfire a girl said she was raped in high school bathroom. After defectives confronted her with discrepancies in her story, she admitted to making it up. She was arrested and sentenced to six to nine months of probation. Also in March, a 14-year-old girl in Illinois--who had accused a 13-year-old boy of raping her, landing him in a juvenile detention center for three months--admitted to police that the sex had been consensual. She was arrested and sentenced to a year of probation. In February 2005, an Indiana University sophomore said she'd been raped in an IU bathroom. When she later admitted it wasn't true, she was sentenced to a year of probation and suspended from the university for 60 days. FBI statistics show that about 9 percent of rape reports are ‘unfounded’ - and while Regret rape's don't always mean Jail time - take a look at the Duke Lacross Scandal - Those guys had thier social lifes destroyed, families reputations were ruined and all of them i believed pretty much had to move 10+ hours away. Regret rape accusations still damage people, But they *can* happen Awhile back at Hofstra a woman said she was lured into a bathroom, tied to a toliet and gang-raped by 5 men - They went to jail - were criminally charged - but it turned out later that one of them was able to produce a tape later that showed it was consensual. So yeah, Cases of false rape happen often - especially on college campus's. Since he was not criminally convicted, I believe his punishment was fair. Again, it's one bloody court case, we do not have all of the facts of the case, circumstances or evidence. Tossing in the race just seems to make it a sensationalist news piece for a country people all too easily love to hate. A legal precedent was set in Israel classifying sex by deception as rape was set by the Supreme Court in a 2008 conviction of a man who posed as a government official and persuaded women to have sex with him by promising them state benefits. It's a hardass determination of the law - The guy was also married and played single, total sleeze. I just don't see how thats a close comparison. You seem to infer fox incited the guy to kill people? McCollum et. al. v. CBS, Inc., et. al. tried that over ozzy osbourne's suicide solution song when a kid killed himself, I think fox would fall under the same classification as ozzy and Fox is far from fair and balanced. The best US Counterpart I can think of without spending hours researching is if you have sex with someone and do not inform them you have HIV (a few others now?) - it's a felony with reckless intent and endangerment and i believe the last time a woman got aid's from a man who did not tell her - it was considered Rape. Go to Israel where you can't buy a cheeseburger and they have strict laws on men being circumsized, food and depending on how you roll, it can bring disgrace to your family. The court reasoned. "If she hadn’t thought the accused was a Jewish bachelor interested in a serious romantic relationship, she would not have co-operated," I agree with that According to numerous news sites several other men have been convicted of "rape by deception" since that ruling in Israel, but as those cases are not on lexus-nexus and I don't speak hebrew, i'm going to hope Romy or Matok may have some examples, This one made the news - because of race A man in the United States was convicted in 2007 of impersonating his brother in order to have sex with his girlfriend. That conviction was overturned on appeal, though, after an appellate court ruled that rape laws apply only to non-consensual sex. Asides, consider the country . A poll conducted in 2007 by Israel's Geocartography Institute found that more than 50 per cent of Israeli Jews thought marrying an Arab was "equal to national treason". Jews are ALSO legally forbidden to intermarry in Israel. So interracial sex? I can see *why* thats an issue over there even if I don't agree with it. I believe the current laws would prevent a White, Christian American from marrying a Jewish girl - Doesn't just apply to Palestinians Racism is ugly, It exists with Black on Black Racism, White/Black/Hispanic interchangeably and even White on White. Certain types of jew's don't like how others are less serious I believe and certain types of Muslims get pissed off at others as well. Ethnic Cleansings in Africa are old hat The only reason this made the news was 1) slow news day and 2) Controversy on race sells, israel isn't the only country with racism issues, America has some as well (wheres the OT topic for Shirley Sherrod? Let's be fair discuss all racism cases in the news. )

You're a fool if you think Miami is guaranteed a championship. The Celtics, Magic, Lakers (if they trade for Chris Paul, my god), Mavericks, Thunder and to some extent the Bulls, Bucks, Nuggets, Spurs and maybe the Jazz will give Miami very close games. Infact, other "trios" exist on other teams....Like young sleeper teams? Try Baron Davis, Chris Kaman, and Blake Griffin of the Clippers. (I almost went gordon over kaman) Other great trio's that can compete with the BIG "3" if healthy include Yao Ming, Aaron Brooks, and Kevin Martin (rockets); Deron Williams, Al Jefferson, and Mehmet Okur (Jazz) Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, and Nene (Nuggets) Rose, Boozer, Noah (Bulls) Joe Johnson, Al Horford, and Josh Smith (Hawks) Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili (Spurs) Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Jeff Green (Thunder) Dwight Howard, Vince Carter, and Jameer Nelson (Magic) Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen (Celtics) Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Ron Artest (Lakers) Some of these cores are better than others, some are older, some are more young, But all of these cores when healthy are strong cores that COULD dominate a game and in many ways give Miami some degree of trouble. Lets look at Miami You got 3 big guns, you also have Mario Chalmers who isn't that great, Ziggy who hasn't played a full season in 2 years? Championships are won with bench depth imo and lets look at the heat. Udonis Haslem and Juwan Howard provide the option to replace either Chris Bosh or Lebron James, but only sparingly - Howard isn't a guy who can soak up minutes in this day and age. Haslem is an offensive rebounder, Solid, but not flashy. Miller is a solid Backup for James/wade, so thats 3 guys who can come off the bench and contribute , 2 rookies and some unknown to be signed vets desperate for a ring, Names thrown around from the serviceable Iverson and Tracy mcgrady (who will probably go to the clippers) to retired people desperate for glory like Penny Hardaway (LOL). But even then - a team like the Knicks are not total dogs vs Miami. Stoudemire will match up to Bosh, Douglas plays solid Defense, Gallinari can shoot 3's like Reddick or anyone - Felton is also solid. Add in Randolph as a Big man and a possible Chris Paul - Games will be interesting and not blowouts I still think the Bulls, Celtics or Magic will knock them out of the East.

Using one case as a measuring stick for fairness defies every concept of mathematical statistics and is unrealistic at best. Thats a piss poor sample size to judge fairness.

This is true. I got reported for roleplaying an ultra-militant Christian state in Medieval times (ie. a European kingdom) in a roleplay forum. This is G rated forum. We removed that bit from the rules actually.
