Deoderant and Antiperspirant

This may seem like an odd topic to talk about as it is a rather personal one but i was kinda curious if anyone else had this problem. I won't go into an explanation as to how it was brought up today but I will tell you about what I mean.

I kind of have a problem. I noticed I sweat a lot in my armpits and though not as prevalent as the sweat i stank too, now this is normal to an extent for a teenage guy, but mine was really bad. I tried all different types of deodorants with antiperspirants even clinical strength. Nothing helped. So I did a sort of test/ experiment. Before I started wearing deodorant like as a kid I never had the problem. So as gross as it might sound I actually stopped putting it on for the most part. And my "symptoms" cleared up. So I'm left to conclude that it was actually something in the deodorants that made me sweat as much as I did.

So this is why I post about it. I'm wondering if this has been noticed by any of you. I'm thinking maybe I'm "allergic" to something in the deodorant. Also I'm not a fat kid so that's not it. I also know it wasn't just the temperature because it was just as bad during winter and in cold rooms as in hot rooms.

So ya any feedback would be nice, I figured internet anonymity would make it easier to get some honest feedback. it would be awkward to walk up to people and be like "Do you sweat a lot?"

Maybe you're nervous that somebody will notice teh deodorant or something and that causes you to sweat? :/

I thought about stress and all that but it would even happen when I was alone. Just sitting typing like I am to you now. Other things I did notice made it worse was stress and when i wore tighter shirts. But these were more.... adding to the problem than causing it. i think the stress was normal and the tighter shirts may have just absorbed the sweat faster and made me notice sooner. Thanks for the input neway.

Deoderant if you want a quick cover up of smell which lasts a few hours, anti persperint if you wan to stop sweat smell for a longer period is generally my rule. Works fine for me personally.

I never had a problem until my newest deodorant stick, which seems to make me sweat when I never used to. Like, the first day I used it I had huge stains in my pits. Thanks, Old Spice. I think it's because it's liquid-based, but really I have no idea. I don't use that one any more.

If anyone gets annoyed by '24 hour' anti perspirants not working very well at all, I really recommend Driclor.

It works because the aluminium chloride in it blocks sweat from coming out of your armpits, and it is instead disposed in the normal way.

You put it on at night, let it dry for five minutes or so, and then go to sleep. You wash it off in the morning and use your anti perspirant as normal.

I used it for 2 nights, and I was sweat free for a week or so. Now I just use it once a week, or if I start getting a bit sweaty.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

When I first started wearing deodorant I thought I had the same problem as you but then I figured out i'd just been smearing on way too much of the stuff, and now that I only put on 4 strokes under each arm there's no problem. I really like the Axe chocolate one, I've been using it for the past 2 months  Doesn't smell like chocolate at all but it's really great.

Nothing works for me either. I also wish I could put something on my lower back, it sweats like no other.

If you're willing to risk it try nothing at all. Maybe you're the same as me.

I put on Axe in the mornings, then Dove in the locker room to save face.

Both seem to work well and I think they are both antiperspirants.

I think he meant them as 2 separate things. His deodorant works for 2 days. And he only puts it on after a shower. Or I suppose they could be a she.

10 months a year, no problem. But june-july when it's hot (and since i'm very warm in the winter even) i'll have to use deo a couple of times a day... Onion rings are so disgusting.

Personally i just buy some puma or adidas deo, don't want to waste 5 million euros on some 30ml bottle.

I know lots of girls that prefer a neutral sort of mens antiperapirant to the womans kind, because of them are so strong a smelly.

cool comprehension bro

He has a point, how would you know it lasts for two days, unless you don't have a shower in between?

Anway, I just get whatever roll on is on special, usually Rexona. Works pretty well, unless I dress badly on a hot day. I find that spray on does jack for me.

I use the exact same one:thumbup:

If I'm sweaty, I'll just use some spray, but I usually only use roll-on deodorant in the morning or if I go out at night; and always after a shower. I find it kind of disgusting when people use roll-on deodorant in the locker room; they're just wiping sweat all over it, and then using it later.

As suggested you could try driclor

I've used it for several years and i recommend it.

It can be used on armpit, hand and feet.

You can get on prescription but you can get it off the net, or over the counter(its cheaper to buy it from boots btw- if in UK and have to pay for prescriptions like i do)

I use mine 2/3 times a week, but i use it in concession, then take a break from it for the rest of the week.

If you use it too frequently it stings badly.....

my god.. people in OT are sweaty!

no kidding

Man this is rocket science for you huh

There are times that I couldn't shower for two days (ie sick, went camping). So I can say that it works for 2 days. How does that equal to me taking a shower every other day? I've been using the same roll on for 9 years now

I don't sweat all that much, but I find that my Lynx dry doesn't seem to stop me sweating, which is slightly irritating :/

I used to sweat quite a lot. Dunno if it was just a phase or whatever but i've noticed i'm not sweating as much anymore.

Another weird thing i noticed was when i was on holiday in Greece, where it was roasting hot compared to the UK, i barely sweated at all whereas in the UK, i sweated a lot more even though it was colder.
