Family guy references quite alot of american pop culture from the 80s and 90s which people can relate too - and find funny. It's the reason i own every season out on dvd.

Regarding "Homework Help and Advice"
das replied to i_love_burritos's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
A verdict so soon? This hasn't even been open for 24 hours. Personally, i'm agaisnt the idea of a homework subforum - because I fear it will encourage academic dishonesty. It seems like awful ambigous idea to require a user to put forth a "good faith effort" before posting the problem, some people are more apt than others and will be able to show more work, and people stumped who may need a tutor - may get flamed for not knowing the work or look like they might be trying to "Cheat". That being said - if you need help that bad - you probably won't want to come to a forum of gamers for homework assignments on the whole, I myself would much rather go to an educational forum and seek such guidance. -
Programming and Web Design subforum
das replied to obfuscator's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
I'd say Programming to be fair is just as deserving of it's on forum as roleplayers, artists, poets, and any other sub group not relating directly to runescape. It has multi purposes. For starters it's nice to have a community to help you debug - talk about hot issues and the sort and help optimize code. Most of us with programming experience (*Raises hand* would be able to swiftly remove any posts that would pertain to anything "illegal" or "unethical". Think of it as "Stories" told by code. Coder communities can be very closely knit - and I see this as a potential place to find coders for the website as well down the line. The idea is bloody brilliant and i'm pushing to get it set up soon -

[ENDED] The Crew Wants You!

i'd like to say that although photoshop is a plus - we are not going to toss an app out because you may or may not have it. The application process is intricate and detailed and involves everything from your security to your forum history as far as "bad stuff" to your posts (do you troll? flame? intelligent poster?), contributions (do you submit corrections, help out) and much more including the answers to the application questions.. I can say pretty confidently photoshop won't be the final or even major factor in any application. Best of luck to any who apply and if you honestly want to be crew - apply and give it a whirl at submitting an application because it doesnt hurt to apply. -
I don't think LOTR had quite as many beheadings... But yeah, the violence was used well, it's just not my cup of tea. Lotr lobbed quite a few orc's heads at helms deep, rohan battle etc. The violence in eli really was mild and it really to me sold parts of the story - tastefully done (no pointless gore, and blood was rather minimal) and the first fight scene was done masterfully with beautiful cinematic angles.

At Tip.it we strive to maintain a safe and secure environment for our users and staff. In any position of power a compromised account can cause damage to the site and we seek to minimize this risk as much as possible. all of the submitted information is confidential and we have a strict policy on confidentially. So all of the information submitted will remain private. They say in security - you are only as strong as your weakest link - in an effort to attempt to thwart this age old mantra we feel that if we have basic standards for security - that we will keep our users and site safe by not having a weak link. While i'm not saying hack's cannot happen - we have found that by setting a reasonable standard this has helped minimize threats and issues. I hope this answers your questions and if you or any one else have any concerns about security i'll be happy to field them ~Das -
Haha, there's no way that's a compliment, but I'm going to pretend it is. :P Actually from me it is - as I think he's a hell of an actor. All of my pictures were taken by my girlfriend... Just putting that out there :) Uh huh - making the fanboys drool more eh?

Not true. If you've actually been to the South you would know that although there is a rivalry between the South and the North, most people in the South aren't the stereotypical Rednecks that you just described. The rivalry is more along the lines of "the people in the North are Yanks, and we're Southerners". From what I've seen, Southerners treat 'Yanks' better than 'Yanks' treat Southerners. When I moved into Kansas during fifth grade, I was ridiculed a lot because I was from the South and had a Southern accent. Some of the teachers even treated me like I was intellectually inferior because I was from the South... In rural areas of the South, you have more of the stereotypical stuff, but it's completely different in metropolitan areas. It really just depends on where you go, but it's by no means a majority of the population. I will agree a little bit about the racism. There is still a large amount of racism due to the predominantly black population that has finally overwhelmed the white population, especially in poverty-stricken regions. It exists on both sides, and both sides accuse each other of wrongdoing. The blacks argue that the whites are repressing them, and the whites argue that the blacks are stealing from them, murdering them, and raping their daughters. In these areas you have a lot of crime from the black community (thus fueling white resentment against blacks); there are just a lot of problems in these areas, and I don't really see them ending anytime soon. In metropolitan areas, however, there is a lot less racism. Younger whites are generally more tolerant. Of course, these are just my observations; people in these aforementioned areas might view things differently from how I just described them. As a southerner - I can attest to this and agree with this post. Racism works both ways down here - not as extreme as he described if you ask me - but i've met many blacks who resent whites just the same as i've met whites who resent blacks. And we may of "lost" but we will never lose our pride in our "heritage". That flag is a symbol of pride and robert e lee is an icon down here, and will always be one

i didn't really find the film violent - I guess i've seen enough slashers/gorefests to see it as tasteful violence - to be fair - LOTR/Braveheart had the same levels of gore in my mind.... I do fear this is going to turn into a religious thread - but it was not your typical religious movie and it should be seen for moe than that

I'm game as I watch a ton of film. Today I saw Book of Eli - went in expecting little - came out f***king amazed. - One of my favorite movies in a long time. Then I watched the Uninvited (2009) - Was a kind of a meh movie. decent plot twists - but the acting was sort of subpar I thought Next up 1980 Boogeyman - the chick who stabbed herself to death with the scissors was hot. But it was a above average slasher (Some of the deaths are great, some are lol worthy) and....the whole ending (won't spoil it) sort of ruined the whole movie for me. Like it was above average until the last 5 minutes, then it went between average and "Wtf were these guys smoking".

Anyone else see this? One of my favorite films in the past year and certainly one of the most powerful Cant believe no one has made a thread on it yet. o.o Did anyone else love it? Me and my crew went and we swear it's brilliant.

Well, it had like mixed veggies in it - I went bland on the sauce - Sauce typically has too many calories (yes this is coming from fast food man). I never liked rice as a kid - and I'm not a fan of it still, but it was ok - i'd eat it again, not going to look forward to it - but cute Asians are worth eating a bit of rice during lunch for

Considering i've had an nes,snes,gameboy,n64,ps1.ps2, gamecube wii,xnox.xbox360 and ps3 - throw in countless games and i'd rather not talk about it. I do tend to purchase games used (gamestop for example) or on sale for example i paid $35 for L4D2 for the 360, and $17 for iron man for the ps3.
