Hmm, should I go for a 99 soon? :-k After I get 70 all I would probably get 99 wcing w/ maples, then use those for 99 fm. Then, 99 fishing w/ lobsters and using those for 99 cooking. After that, 99 mining/smithing/magic trio via superheating + mining guild coal + coal bag. Next, maybe all combat 99s + range. That leaves rc, craft, prayer, and dunge. Yeah... with those I'm just going to have to train them one by one. For dunge maybe to 100 for that lovely 3rd bind. Yeah I know I'm just dreaming my ass off, but having all these 99s would be so AWESOME.

Skill speculations
Well yeah I would get 99s if I actually had more playtime... plus I'm f2p, it's far harder to train to 99 there. My point is however, with all these updates now, it's just a matter of time before 99s start becoming real easy to get. At that point, Jagex would have no choice but to raise those caps.

Do you care about your rank?
I don't really care about ranks, I just play the game the way I want to. If I were to get a 99 though, I WILL train it past 99 because so many people stop at that point. 15m exp in a skill is probably my stopping point.

*notices some rc pouch lookalike thing on the bottom* Also lol did you toss away all your fog/gop tokens for fun?

Skill speculations
Troacctid, no one is forcing you to train to the max level. That is what separates the elite (maxed combat/total players) from the average player (somebody like me). They choose to devote their time to get 99s, because they KNOW doing so will give them a better advantage. You may think getting 99s is a long, hard grind, but to them, it's a piece of cake. Also, I don't see how it will unbalance PvM. Because the new 120 cap is much harder to get than 99 now, less players will be motivated to go for that goal, which means less of the really "elite" players. It will remain this way, until more updates make it so that getting 120 in these skills is much easier than before (which seems to be the case now). Saying that it encourages unhealthy playing habits is totally subjective. Some people have played for a very long time, which means they get a far better advantage in terms of training up. That's actually one of the reasons why there's a separation between regular and elites. Also, what's you to say that it will be unhealthy for them? Maybe they are effective/efficient with their gameplay, while also controlling how much they play per day. Maybe they are good multitaskers. Maybe they can AFK. The list goes on. Sooner or later, there will be enough updates that will make all 99s easy to get, making them less of an "achievement" (though that in itself is subjective). That, and the amount of people with 99s in these skills. Note that this is coming from an average f2per's perspective, but I can see how the people with 99 will feel about this. There's a reason why people go for specific 99s over others.

Will Jagex nerf the Sling?
Perhaps it's because you pick them up from the ground. It's similar to those skeletons in dungeoneering who toss skulls at you xD

"mystic" staffs
It doesn't involve much "work". Like I said, simply increase the damage capability of these staffs. Battlestaves: 5% damage Mystic staves: 10% damage Ancient staff: 15% damage SOL: 20% damage Chaotic staff: 30% damage As for the talisman staff, give it 10 free teleports to the respective altar (any + zmi if it's omni), and to recharge it you must take it back to the Runecrafting guild (repair for free). There, simple fix ^^

Accuracy Ammies - LOL!
It's nice that Jagex finally realized the problem with amulets of accuracies. Ever since their price reached around 6k or so, I knew something was fishy. Now I checked again, and they're 68k. For something so useless even in f2p, wow. The obvious solution is for Wizard Trailborn (or whatever the heck his name is) to give you another amulet of accuracy in case you happen to lose it.

Will Jagex nerf the Sling?
Although I do agree that the maple shortbow is far more accurate and has more dps, Kayle's sling can save you ~5m in bronze arrows if you're going for 99 in f2p. Sure it might be around 4k exp per hour less than maple shortbow w/ bronze arrows, but the higher your range level or bonus, the difference gradually diminishes especially with 0 def monsters (flesh crawlers). Still, the range of Kayle's sling is ridiculously short for a weapon. If you value time at ~100k per hour or more, then it's not worth using the sling because you make more money than you lose.

Are 99's really worth it...
But all 99s require work to some extent, yes? They don't just pop up randomly in your stats for no reason. For this reason and this reason only, I respect all 99s. That, and I consider 99s useful due to dungeoneering. Being maxed is certainly better than, say, my stats currently.

Beginners Combat Guide
But you're going to have to do a lot more prepping, no? Times have changed. Making sure you're prepared for the elite stuff is a must.
-
Skill speculations
You don't want even higher leveled gear? Also, as more and more people reach 99, Jagex is going to have to add new content and raise the skill cap. This IS inevitable no matter how you look at it. Sure, they stated they won't be raising, but sooner or later they will realize why they should have. Do I need to get started on Jagex logic too?

Beginners Combat Guide
If you're going to be a member this early in your Runescape adventure, you're just wasting time. Get your combat in the 70s-80s, and be able to wear level 70 weapons and AT LEAST dragon armor before going members. Also 43 pray is a must. Why? So when you become a member you can start off with slayer/summoning right away. No need to waste time doing things you could have done as a free player.

The Middle
I've done monkey madness, and it was actually pretty easy. The only hard part was the sliding puzzle, but there's 200k for that. :P I'm really only training in f2p for quest/diary requirements. Actually, once you get those over with, "completing" the rest of the game becomes really easy. I guess cash can be another subcategory. I've played for 2 years and I only have 2-3m worth of bank atm :wall:

Is RuneScape filling a void?
Once again, we see some newb user post on these forums with some pointless topic that will get lots of disagreement and flamebait. I would like to say right now that I strongly disagree with the OP and would like to refute those points. All of what you have said above is totally subjective. Of course, when I myself first started playing, I had this "addiction" in mind - this is inevitable. However, it is rare for somebody to have their "addiction" remain. I am pretty sure most people on the boards play Runescape for fun, not as a NEED like some illicit drug. The game can only be potentially harmful to your health if that's what you choose to do. If you're going to no-life Runescape, of course it's going to be harmful to your health. I'm pretty sure the average RSer won't be addicted this far and will be able to manage their everyday events. May I please tell you how horribly wrong you are? Not everyone who plays has those "reasons" that you stated. I myself am quite popular among my friends, get good grades, can make sports teams, AND am strong-willed, and I play Runescape. Adding to my strong-willingness and my efficiency/effective fetish, I like accomplishing goals in Runescape. In fact, I like being a completionist in console games, because it's fun. How am I "wasting my life away" when during those moments, I have nothing better to do? Gaming is merely a method of entertainment for me, not because I have problems in real life. Please, don't assume that just because we all play Runescape we are all nerds who live in their bottom of their parent's house nolifing. ONCE AGAIN you show your lack of logic skills in this paragraph. If you need to quit just because you feel addicted, something is wrong. It's called time management bro. Also, what makes you think reading a book has more usefulness over "sitting at a computer clicking on pixels"? I can tell you ways how Runescape has benefited me, prime examples being typing speed, English skills, and real life knowledge and logic (you see what I did there?). Also, you can apply the Runescape argument to reading books as well - would you play Runescape or look at pieces of paper with words printed on them? The fiction section is a very good example of this - they do not give you "knowledge" in any way, yet people still read them. Why? Cuz it's ENTERTAINMENT. With entertainment, you're doing something cuz you're bored - NOT because it has any impact on real life in any way! OP, I would like you to rethink your arguments and realize how wrong and stereotypical you are.

Daily Activities
With Lumby Hard, another daily activity you can do is the Lumbridge cook food hamper. You get pizza/lobster/swordfish in the hamper (they are all cooked). Put anchovies on the pizza to make it worth even more  It's more for f2p, but at least it's still there. Also note the free high-alching and superheating.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Lol, you got the corrupt scim drop just as I logged off. And yay, finally something has been done to a low level amulet that does basically nothing. At least this is reasonable. @ Jimmy: Yes.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
It doesn't in regular training, since most monsters are 0 def anyway. However, I heard it's a beast in pvp.

SkillCapes - Overrated?
A lot of accomplishments are like that, tbh. I can't even really feel how it was like to get 1k total anymore. =\ The good thing is, I know there will be even more and better goals for me to achieve, and for this reason, I'm still hardworking towards my goals. That's how you should see skill capes as - gotta have 'em all!

The Middle
I'm probably in the middle right now. I have to agree, these "middle" levels are probably the toughest part of leveling and making money. I've rced for ~2 hours and only used up about 2k-ish essence, for ~10k exp =\ But when I get into the high levels, I know that there will be more benefits (more profit, dungeoneering). Don't even get me started on combat skills. Perhaps when I get p2p everything will be a breeze for me since I prepared so much in f2p
