Thank you, RuneScape fakes will probably do better there anyhow I PMed a General Discussion Global Mod about this, and asked if my previous two topics can be moved (but not this topic). I'm going to post the background info on the image now. Btw, RHQers have started guessing now . Apparently some people think that the area is from some quest, and one person thought that you actually can be a wolf in-game But people there also think the vines are fake. I never realized "Adjust Hue-Saturation" can make one of the few real things in this image look fake

Me neither. Why do you keep making new topics, and crowding the forums? Bunch them all too one topic. Because the topics are completely unrelated, the only things tying them together are RuneScape and fakes. One's a large series of fakes as a prank, one's an interactive interface for viewing videos, and this one is sort of a "test" to see how many people can tell which parts of an image are fake. Also, for the people who think there's some sort of "floor texture", there actually isn't, it's a texture which covers the whole image, but it's only really visible above the black void. It's meant to look like faint snow blowing in the air. I know I probably shouldn't have said that, since it's giving it away :?, but I'm clarifying that there's no actual floor. I'll post the info after one or two more comments, or if the topic seems like it's about to die. I see not too many people in this section of TipIt are active in RuneScape. Does anyone know of any other boards on the TipIt forums that I can post my fakes and fake-related topics? At Sal's and RuneHQ, people in the faking sections are much more active in RuneScape, but TipIt doesn't have a faking section... Does anyone know of a place where it would be better to post my fake-related topics? I only started posting them here because I saw another faker (who I know from Sal's) posting her topics in The Gallery.

Well, the animation is as a Fireworks PNG (which can have multiple frames, but the frames can only be viewed in Fireworks), and, when I import it into Flash, it becomes 366 separate PNG images :shock: If I export the Fireworks file to a GIF, the animation can be seen outside Fireworks, but it has a lower quality. It's the image that's in my above post. If I import that into Flash, it becomes 366 separate GIF images, which leads to an overall filesize that's nearly as large as the PNG version. Either way, the file will end up at over 30 megabytes, which is far too large :( I also tried using AS to import it, but when you import an animated GIF into Flash, it can only let the first frame of it play :? I'm just going to re-create the animation directly in Flash, and I'll do that for my future animations as well. Besides, Flash is easier when it comes to animating, and allows exports to GIF format . Thanks anyways. I'll send you the code now

1. Thanks! 2. Unfortunately the FPS will also control the rate at which the video itself plays. I try to keep my FPS number as efficient as possible relative to the #/100 second delay in the program I use to animate, because I first made this in Macromedia Fireworks 8, then I moved it into Macromedia Flash Pro 8. This also means that, in future animations, which will be longer, the fps may be larger, thus the windows should move smoothly. An example of an animation which will result in smoother motion (larger fps) would be the following fake I made: Unfortunately, I need to re-create the animation in Flash, rather than just importing it, because the file size as a direct import is HUGE :o 3. It's pretty messy at the moment. I was hoping on updating the engine to be more efficient and less repetitive, but I'm going to do that after a few more animated fakes. For now, I just wanted it to work 4. You seem like someone who I can trust, so I'd have no real issues with letting you see the code . Should I PM it to you?

/agree Well, it's not like I wasn't planning on using my video interface elsewhere. If you've ever worked with Flash, you'd know just how easy it is to swap graphics around. All I have to do is create new graphics, swap them with the old ones, and suddenly the interface isn't related to RuneScape anymore. Actually, I'm planning on doing exactly that for a few videogame sprite movies I'll be making a while from now. Making the graphical parts of the interface only took about an hour or two, it's the coding that's the real nightmare. Once the code's done, you can do practically anything with it Besides, this is the first major application I've ever developed in Flash; previously all I've done is gotten a 2-D sprite of Mario to walk around in a blank white space. I learned a lot about actionscripting from doing this, and now I have a better idea about how to accomplish future applications which I might work on. And, yes, I do write way too much

RYB and CMY theory?
Well, scientifically, our eyes see red, green, blue, and brightness. The red, green, and blue are perceived by "cone" cells, while the brightness (which is both black and white) is perceived by "rod" cells. There are no cells which specifically detect CMY, and the cone cells for RGB detection aren't present in equal amounts. Interestingly enough, it seems that the amounts of a particular type of cone vary a lot between individuals, but usually more red cones (aka Long cones) are present than green cones (Medium cones), and the blue cones (Small cones) are almost always the least common: [source] I can see what you mean about the RYB color wheel not allowing for the production of every possible color, but the RGB and CMY(K) systems do not allow for this either. People try to develop systems like these to quantize their descriptions of color, but doing so also limits the available possibilities. Of course it's easy to tell someone "#00FF00" or "#FF00FF00" or "one part blue, two parts yellow". But none of these color models will ever allow someone to truly have every color possible. It's really more of a matter of personal preference, no system is particularly right or wrong. Personally, I choose to work with RGB, despite the fact that it has the least amount of possible colors, because I prefer designing computer graphics and screenshot fakes. Someone who prefers working on the computer to create things that will be printed out, such as posters, would use CMY(K). And someone who likes to paint would likely be more inclined towards RYB. In the end, it boils down to how people prefer to do things

This is a very simple fake I made as a debut for returning to Sal's Realm after almost a year of inactivity. Since I can't get SWF's in here, you have to click the following link to see it: Click here to see the fake!!! Yes, I know the fake is very simple. However, the reason I posted this topic is to get opinions on my epic interactive RS Video Viewing Interface (2.0). That's the windows, buttons, and toolboxes you see around the thing, which make it interactive. I made the whole thing from scratch, by myself. That's including the whopping 1754 lines of code it has :shock:. To watch the video, you have to click play. For details on how it works, click the small button. To see more pages of the help system, click the and buttons. Keep in mind that any window may be closed, to help you keep down on the clutter. You can also move the windows around by dragging them, but you cannot drag a window off the screen. Note that if you resize your browser, it checks to make sure nothing's gone out of bounds. You can use the zoom feature to zoom in and check for flaws in the fake. The thumbnail feature lets you drag a red box around , just like in RuneScape's minimap system, to help when you're zoomed in, or you can also just drag the video around. The volume feature does work, but this particular fake does not have sound or music. Also, on slower computers you might have seen the loading bar, but in most cases, you won't. So this is what the loading bar looks like: Also, it may not load for some people, for some strange reason :( So you can click here to (sort of) see what it looks like, but you can't actually watch it or anything :( Also, there is another little "contest" in this topic: there are two little jokes I've hidden in the zoom feature. One joke is harder to find than the other (it refers to a useful Easter Egg in Microsoft Paint). Finding the harder joke awards you with a custom emote, finding the easier joke (really easy to find if you're looking for a way to crash my program. Which you won't be able to, btw ) awards you with a custom underbanner. Note that you are ineligible for the "contest" if you are from Sal's or if you know me in real life.

I don't know why, but I got the idea of posting this image at TipIt and RuneHQ with the accompanying question: What part(s) of this image are fake? If you want, you can try to guess where that screenshot was taken, and I'm betting at least one or two people may guess it immediately. The point is for the image to be taken out of context, so, if you are a member of Sal's Realm of RuneScape, or if you found out where this came from, please do not post here! For those people who do post, I'm interested in seeing how you guys think the image was made, how much is fake, how much is real, etc... After I have received a few replies, I will post some associated images, explain the backstory, and say how much is fake/real. I will also say the general response of the RHQers who reply in that version of this topic. Yes, I suppose you can see this as a sort of "social experiment". Too bad I can't try it on Sal's as well, since they already know about the image. EDIT: I will now reveal the background info of this fake: I made this fake for the "TBFL versus Omega faking war" at Sal's Realm. A faking war is when the war maker sets a goal (in this case, to obtain the legendary "Faking Hat"). Then fakers make fakes of them trying to achieve that goal (in this case, trying to get the hat, succeeding in getting the hat, or stealing the hat from another faker). This particular war was between the faking groups TBFL (The British Fakers Legion) and Omega (the longest-running faking group of Sal's). I'm a member of TBFL (even though I'm not British ), but for this war, I was a rogue (meaning that I was not fighting for either group). Here is the topic at Sal's: http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/i ... pic=279559 Here is what happened in the war just before I made this fake (and the other fakes associated with it): (NOTE: the following fakes are made by Mr E of Sal's Realm of RuneScape, not me) Basically, Mr E rickrolled Easl (the last person to have the hat (and also the person who started the war)), and Easl gave him the hat. Then, Mr E gave the hat to Sergeant Abram of the Lumbridge Guards for safekeeping. I responded with this set of fakes: My character is a wolf sort of as an in-joke from PPP (a clan I'm in), and I'm wearing some custom items, including a Lunar Amulet (related to a series of magic fakes I'm working on). Here's the inventory and Grand Exchange views of the item: The area is supposed to be Hell, and I faked it from the following image: It's the rabbit's warren from Easter '09. Someone thought it was from the underground pass I had to pixel out the floor (which took forever), edit out the mouse cursor and spiders and Hypercam logo, and pull the vines onto a separate layer (to color it differently). After that, I changed the colors of the walls (which now became the floor) and vines: Note how I got the floor to fade into blackness. Also, I added some flames around "Hell", and you can see that they look different in the second fake (as though they were animated). In the second fake, I made the flames start going out, added balls of ice, made a snowstorm using the grass texture in Fireworks, and made a few ice patches. In the third fake, I recolored Hell to make it look paler, replaced the fire with ashes (faintly visible), made the snow mostly faded away, and, most notably, coated everything in ice. Making the ice took the longest, as every part coated in ice has 4 layers of it, using grass and parchment textures. Here is the third fake, split into it's individual layers: And here's the ground and ice separated: In the fourth fake (the chatbox), I had to work off of a wolf mask to make my face: Also, Abram never makes the "OMG" face, so I had to make that on my own, working off another NPC's face.

Erm... If you would have seen the original topic at Sal's, you'd know that's not the case :s I inserted the jokes originally just to have fun, not necessarily to make an emote for the person who finds the most. Then, after a few people found some of the jokes, I said, "I decided that if I'm making you guys look for hidden jokes, I may as well give something in return for it ." Why would I be advertising a "contest" that's within this topic anyways? It's more work for me either way, I've got to make an emote for the winner :s If I didn't say that last bit about the "contest", then no such contest would exist, because it's limited to the jokes in this topic. Also, notice how I excluded Sal's Realm members? That's because I have a post there listing the jokes, which would mean a Sal's Realmer would know what the jokes are, and thus could cheat. It's limited to this topic, at this forum. Were you referring to the link I provided? Because that's just a load of custom emoted I've made (all in my spare time, none as requests or awards). When I asked my friend about the rules at TipIt, he never mentioned anything about links to outside sites, so I thought that would be okay here... Should I remove that link? Really, it's just an example of my work, so people here would know what kind of emote you can expect (so you guys know I'm not going to make a random scribble in MS Paint and call it a "prize" :o) EDIT: If you've ever looked at some of Jagex's Knowledge Base articles, most, if not all, are very long and detailed. The point of this fake was to trick people into believing it's real until they get to the part with the names, at which point it becomes obvious. I even read several articles in the Controls section of the Game Guide before writing that article, just to make sure I do it in the same tone that Jagex would. If you were referring to my own words in between the images, I didn't think I was excessive in that (well, I may have overdone the emote spams, but still...). Besides, that would be the amount I would have written ordinarily in such a situation. If I had just posted the images alone, the topic wouldn't have made sense!

A simple fake
But he/she/it (you can't tell with scapers) didn't do anything! He/She made a fake item from scratch, and equipped it. Yes, the right-click menu was easy, but the rest wasn't: I fail to see how that's nothing <_< Unless it is a real RuneScape item, which I sincerely doubt (as I've mentioned, the pixelization in its shading, and the semi-blurriness in one of the equipped ones, as well as the unnatural lines which I did not notice until increasing the contrast significantly), this seems to me to be the case of "It's so good, it can't be fake! Thus, no effort! FAIL!!!" If it is an actual item, can someone please say what the item's name is? I've searched through the internet, and RuneWiki, and the only thing related to ears in RuneScape is Bunny Ears.

A simple fake
I saw the fake and thought "Hmm... Pretty good!" Then I scrolled down to the comments, and thought "OMG, WTF?!!?" Seriously, and people say that Sal's raters are harsh and sometimes rude. Obviously she had to put some effort into it <_< I don't see what the hell the name of the item has to do with anything. I Googled it, and I get why that's the name of the item. But I'm pretty sure the point of commenting/criticizing/rating is to explain your opinions of the fake, not the name <_< Most less-experienced people who try something like this wouldn't have shaded it, and they would have gotten the perspective wrong. Here's my rating on it: 0----1----2----3----4----5----6----7----8----9----10----11 ----------------------------------------------------^ Rating: 9.25/10 Reasons: ? ?1.5? because the item's shading is more pixely than it is smooth. Also, the left ear on the girl (the girl's right ear) has a bit of antialiasing, meanwhile your antialiasing is turned off. ? ?0.25? because the right-click menu seems to be in the wrong position (I think). Also, shouldn't the item be "Nekomimi Ears"? It sounds a bit odd with just the name. (i.e. you wouldn't call V's mask "V" as a RuneScape item, you would call it "V's Mask" instead (referring to V from "V for Vendetta")) ? +1.0? because, at 100% zoom, the shading looks pretty good. Also, you did a nice job with the perspective EDIT: Previous posts made me misunderstand and think "Nekomimi" is the name of some character, but Promise's post made me realize it's just a word meaning "Cat Ears", which would thus be a valid item name in RuneScape (although Jagex would probably translate it into English nonetheless ). I added back 0.25? to the rating (If anyone was wondering, ratings on fakes are a standard on most of the forums I've been to, which is why I give ratings here too )

I am posting this here as a public service to the fakers of TipIt. I have already posted this at Sal's Realm of RuneScape and RuneHQ. A friend of mine advised me to post this here as well, because some people here do fake. This is in part an informative article on a recent update by Jagex, in part a rant about said update, and, in part an attempt to rally as many RuneScapers as possible to protest and riot against Jagex's unjust actions. I have quoted this post directly from myself at Sal's (with some alterations due to BB Code incompatibilities): NOTE: I know, it's probably more obviously fake now than it was before. That's because I forgot to post this until over a month after I made the fakes, and because blackmarks no longer exist. Please do not spam with "0/10 not realistc at all! Dates are all off, and wtf is wrong wit u? Seriosly, "blackmarks"?!" Also, the only reason only Sal's fakers appear on that list is because I did not know about any particularly good fakers outside Sal's until now. Also, I even forgot to mention some good Sal's fakers, but, I assure you, this is purely unintentional. Oh, and before anyone says anything, no, the Snapshot Files (*.jsn) cannot be opened in graphics software: Also, there is a contest to win your own custom emote, but you must find the 5 hidden jokes/references. If you find the majority of the jokes, you will also win.
