Tetris Attack
@dsavi: Thanks for those links - I already knew about how to do basic lighting in Blender, but the second one is great as I never knew how lighting is set up in professional films :-o Also, I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to even get the 3D to work at first that I didn't think of lighting at all. But I was stupid to not go back later and rerender the scenes to fix it #-o I did try to make the bricks match the surroundings a bit in the scene where he stands and looks at his blockaded door, but I did that by keying out the bricks, making a colorized desaturated bluish layer of the bricks visible underneath, and setting that to 35% with another copy of the original beneath it. So I never actually went back to Blender to do any real lighting work like I should have, because I didn't want to wait for the long render times again. I used Voodoo to do the tracking, and I didn't understand Blender's keyframing system well enough back when I did most of this (I had to meet the deadline of the last day of classes because it was a final project, but now in the summer I added a new scene (where the door is blocked) as well as the intro and ending animations, and I redid all scenes of the Tetris game on the computer screen in Blender (rather than the original shots, which came from a Tetris NES rom. I don't want to risk any copyright strikes for that :XD:)). If I understood keyframing in Blender better at the time, I would have used the empty that the camera is packaged in by Voodoo to manually correct the places where tracking was off, so it wouldn't be so bad at parts as it is. Also, I don't know how the hell I failed so bad at the scene where he's walled in by blocks and he tries to run out in a first-person perspective. The clips right before and after that were good, but that shot came out awful :???:. Anyways, I'm using Blender 2.5 Alpha 2, although I had to use Blender 2.49 to import and execute the Python script that generates the animated camera and mesh cloud, because Voodoo exports in an older version of Python that refuses to work with Blender 2.5+. I still did all my animating in 2.5 Alpha 2, because I like the intuitive interface layout better. Also, I was wondering if you could tell me, does Blender 2.52 crash for you whenever you attempt to bake a material's texture/shading? I guess I can just pull my objects into 2.49, bake them there, save the images to outside Blender, and pull them into the 2.5 file, since it at least has no problem marking seams and UV unwrapping in 2.5 :P. I just hope this is fixed once they finally get into the betas, because it's sort of a hassle. Oddly enough, I've seen posts from people saying it freezes for them too, but I saw a tutorial where it worked fine for someone using 2.5, but then again, he didn't specify if it was Alpha 1 or 2 :???: Also, thanks for mentioning about the overexposure - that's something that never occurred to me, so when I make more real-life vids I'll have to keep that in mind. Of course, I'll also play around with my camera's own exposure settings before relying on using After Effects' color correction features, since I realize even virtual color correction won't cure the color clipping that results from overexposed or underexposed shots. It would be awesome if I had a 32 bit-per-channel camera and didn't have to worry about clipping, but do they even make those? :XD: Anyways, I'll get more practice with this because my friend and I are going to be working on a short movie with people from our high school acting (it will be presented at the high school as well, with all proceeds going to charity), and he said it'll need 3D effects, so this time around I can actually set up my lighting right and correct errors in tracking. I'll also try to make the exposure better in the future :P @unknowz: Well, sadly, my tripod is a piece of crap :XD:. I was supposed to get a good one, but some jerk stole it off our doorstep after it got delivered, before anyone got home. Also, some shots, such as the one where it pans from my friend after he hears the noise and then tilts down to show the block on the ground, and then over again to show the block falling on his desk, were really difficult to film in such a small room, with me sitting on his other desk and resting the tripod partially on my leg due to lack of space. In more open settings, it wouldn't have been so tough to keep the shot steady, and also, I probably need to grease my tripod or something :P

Tetris Attack
I've started learning 3D graphics with Blender, and I decided to use it when I did my final project for filmmaking class. Of course, that meant learning how to combine 3D and real life as well. Youtube HD Video - This video will cause high CPU usage, to view the video in a lower quality, please click . The point was not to have much plot, so I did the first thing that came to mind. Unfortunately, this meant many hours of work for the not-so-simple effects. I know I'm no James Cameron, but it's pretty good for a first try at mixing 3D and real life, right? Also, I know it's not perfect, as my tracking was slightly off at points, and there are some minor continuity errors as well. You also may think my masking is flawed at some parts, but hey, if you'd be trying to pen-tool an outline of your friend's body thirty times for every second of video, you'd make quite a few mistakes as well (and not to mention start to hate your friend for never keeping still :P)

Making RuneScape prettier
While I understand that Nadril is pro at art C/C, this is one occasion where I don't think his advice is so helpful. He essentially said that Log's work is hopeless because RS itself has crappy graphics and Log's not making it any better. I remember I got the same sort of CC from people here when I posted my screenshot fakes. While I understand that the game has crappy graphics when compared to most industry-standard games (and, for that matter, real life, as a lot of people here do works with photography), this does not mean than any work built off of RS graphics is inherently crap. That's the sort of reactions my works here got, and I was actually told to stop wasting my time working with RS graphics. I think it would be nice if some people here would acknowledge that there are different styles of art, and machinima and screenshot fakes are just as valid as any other form. Of course works built off RS won't have the same quality as some irl photographs or something, but that does not mean that working with RS graphics is thus a flaw in itself. :-| @Log: Nice work - my favorite is the fourth from the bottom (the one of you), because it just seems like something you wouldn't expect with RS and blends so well

KFC vs McDonalds RuneScape style
I don't think I've ever read any story with a higher density of memes and film references than this - I love it! Also, "DAT ASS, you think to yourself, glad that you are wearing plate legs" :XD:

Some more RuneScape screenshot fakes and animations/videos
Alright, thanks for the reassurance that nobody's abusing their powers - I was kinda surprised if the board would even have the option to hide users' topics from their "All topics by this user" list, as it seems like something too arbitrary to be worth coding. But what made me write all that is the fact that the topics were all on the list until later that day, which made it seem suspicious considering the intro of this topic is kinda a rant :XD:. And yeah, I figured a minor rule breaking isn't insta-ban - I myself have unintentionally violated the filesize limit with my avatar and sig a few times now :P. I was just wondering since there doesn't seem to be an explicit warn log kept separate from the PMs. Thank you though

Just a minor issue about semantics (or whatever this counts as), but the above link highlights every occurrence of "Virtual Dub", because that was the search term wizzkid used to find it. Here's the same link without the automatic highlighting: http://forum.tip.it/topic/180820-guide-to-making-runescape-animated-gifs/ Also, thanks for featuring my fonts

A new pair of eyes with every order of dreadlocks!
It was probably intentional. Have you seen the amount of leaks and in-jokes that get snuck in game, and then on the forums a J-mod has to come along to confirm that, yes, "thingy" is not an item? The content dev team likes to stick references, in-jokes, and leaks of future updates all the time, however much the community management teams get annoyed at that last one. I'm guessing the face was only updated in-game for one hairstyle because one content developer wanted to leak it for the hell of it, without being so obvious, and the reason it has a hole below the nose is likely because the mouth had yet to be done, but the extra loop-cuts and additional topology unresolved could disrupt gameplay. It wouldn't look so good if this is what it were like: But a bigger reason they don't is it's not so easy to stitch separate models together. Think of how many more vertexes are in the neck of a chat head than the player model - it would be difficult, to say the least, to get the two together, and it may involve too much additional geometry (especially in the case of loop-cuts), so even the body (ignoring the head) of a player would take longer for a computer to process with no visible addition of detail. I know this doesn't make too much sense, but if you worked with 3D graphics you'd know what I'm talking about. Imo those look eww and waaaaaaay out of place on the character models. I prefer what they are doing with the eyes now. Agreed, as we'd never need that much detail on something we only really see close-up with the Orb of Oculus :P

Blizzard to require real names for forums
Jagex would never implement it so long as they still cater to the ten-year-olds and people get muted for saying their name/age/whatever in-game. Besides, it honestly wouldn't improve RSOF or get rid of trolls at all - even with your name, address, and face on the internet, you can effectively remain anonymous. You'd just be one [wagon] in the millions, and nobody will ever use the info to find you, spend money traveling, and actually bother to do anything to you irl, because it wouldn't be worth it in the long run - there are too many trolls, so knowing where they live won't help anyone stop them. If anyone's interested as to why public names (and with the use of certain free websites, public addresses and phone numbers as well) would have little impact on the hordes of trolls at RSOF, consider how/why trolls operate in the first place: Such a decision would have little impact on people trolling, and it would have a more severe impact on normal people (specifically those who do give their real names, unlike trolls, who probably habitually give false names even when it's not necessary). It won't improve human interfacing over the internet, because that isn't even the root of the problems with human relations over the web - the fact that we communicate via raw text with the occasional BBCode and emoticon, but cannot express body movements, facial expressions, or tone of voice is. Obviously the internet will be staying that way, and even several large social networking sites requiring webcamµphone usage will never change that. But the idea that a name will honestly make people worry that much about respecting others as real people over the internet is laughable. Name or not, subconsciously we'd all think of them as raw text first and people second - it's just a tragic flaw between the human mind and the internet. If you were to go out and have a conversation with a complete stranger and found that you two have some things in common, you'd find yourself enjoying that real-life conversation far more than than you would an IM conversation with a dear e-friend, regardless of whose name you do or don't know. I can honestly say that by far I prefer to converse with my real-life friends in real life than over the internet or via phone, but hell, even phone's a richer medium of conversation than the internet. I can see what Blizzard hoped for, but even if they did instate the policy, it wouldn't improve the quality of conversation on their forums - people would still subconsciously see each other as text, and the only difference is now they have to worry about whether someone who knows them irl is reading their posts or if some stalker uses that name with one of those free info-finding sites and now knows where they live or will start calling them up at odd hours of the night and breathing creepily. Basically, such a change wouldn't reduce the number of people being rude or trolling, it would only drive away the few normal people there. Anyways, as I said, Jagex won't ever instate such a system either, because they know just how many people would protest and revoke membership, and it's no use trying to even consider one of your competitor's epic failures  Whatever you say, Stephen

Annoying glitch prevents me from using Tip.It Theme Skin
Interesting, it always seems to happen to me when I switch back to the Tip.It Theme too. Maybe it's safer to stay with the Tip.It Theme than to use another theme, since it automatically resets any time I exit/restart my browser? I still haven't managed to recreate it in Internet Explorer, in spite of how many times I switched themes there, but on Firefox it seems guaranteed whenever switching back to the Tip.It theme, which would explain why I get it any time I restart my browser (I still don't understand why it won't save my last theme, though). But the first time I had it was when I tried previewing a post which included Image, YouTube HQ, and YouTube HD tags, not while trying to switch to a different skin - that's what I tried after I saw the bug. Nonetheless, I'll try to stick with the Tip.It theme and see if the bug comes back on its own (that is, ignoring the first 50 refreshes I'll need to get it to work in the first place). It could be an issue in the skin swapping system as a whole - maybe some setting is cached by our browsers, used by the Tip.It Theme, and swapping to another theme clears this cache, causing issues when attempting to switch back? I'll attempt a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) to see if that gets the theme working right away as apposed to countless soft refreshes. EDIT: Okay, I have failed in several attempts to get the glitch again in Firefox (by changing themes and restarting my browser several times in different combinations). It actually remembers my last theme, but seems to forget it when the computer itself is shut off. As long as all I do is restart my browser, it gives me my previous theme. I won't waste time restarting my entire computer to do more testing, as I'm in the middle of working on a video, but I'll say anything tomorrow if I get the issue again. For now, I'm sticking with the Tip.It Theme until it seems to bug up on its own without me swapping themes. EDIT 2: So much for that. Right after I hit "Save Changes" I got the bug again. At least I was able to confirm that a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) will not make any difference whatsoever. Fortunately, as of yet, the brute force spamming of F5 has not failed me. Since the issue can occur regardless of whether or not I swap skins (it happened when I previewed a topic I was about to post, and it happened when I tried to edit a post (using the full editor, if this helps)), my previous theory fails, and the issue is likely exclusively somewhere in this skin's HTML. I hope site maintenance or whoever has the power to fix these issues takes a look soon!

Annoying glitch prevents me from using Tip.It Theme Skin
There's a weird bug I've been constantly experiencing while using the Tip.It Theme skin: seemingly at random, pages no longer load at all, even if I clear my forum.tip.it cookies. I am presented the following for any page: It seems to randomly start and stop, and has only occurred for the Tip.It Theme. It began for me yesterday when I attempted to preview the posting of my latest topic, and I couldn't see anything. It wasn't an issue with my post, because I pressed the back button and swapped skins, and sure enough, the preview appeared successfully. However, any attempts to return to the Tip.It theme were met with the same screen you see above. So I left it set to Deflection. However, today I turn my computer on and find that my skin has reverted to the Tip.It theme again, bugged and all. About an hour later, I try again, and I still can't get in, nor can I go back to any valid history page and attempt to change my skin. Attempting to delete any and all cookies related to Tip.It does not help, and I am still presented the, erm, dark-blue screen of death. So I decide to see if Internet Explorer can load the page and let me log in to change my skin. I go open the page in Firefox (3.6.3) again to copy the URL, and miraculously the page has successfully loaded in Firefox (which is the browser that kept failing to load it), without me changing anything . I switch again to Deflection, because I never get the bug on that theme. Then a few hours later there's an issue with the circuits at my house, and my dad has accidentally turned off the switch hooked to my room, causing my computer to turn off. Once I restart it and attempt to access Tip.It again, I find that I have yet again been reverted to the Tip.It Theme and cannot access the forums #-o Somehow, half hour later, I come to check and the page succeeds in loading this time. Now I switch to Deflection yet again, despite how my selection refuses to stick any time my browser gets restarted, and I come to make this topic hoping somebody can figure out what is wrong with the Tip.It Theme and its sudden incompatibility with Firefox 3.6.3. I repeat, I have already wiped any cookies used by Tip.It (unless there is some alternate URL I'm not noticing that I should be clearing), and switching to a different skin makes no difference in the long run because it gets reset at the end of a browsing session. I have tested, and I am unable to reproduce this error in Internet Explorer, but I hate using that and would be disappointed if that was my only way to see these forums :(. I just went to temporarily try the Tip.It theme in Firefox again, and it took roughly thirty refreshes before the page finally appeared, although it did not disappear with any further refreshes. A few minutes later, I tried again, and I received the same blank page five times before getting through. So apparently with patience the glitch does not really remove my access to these forums, but it does hinder it greatly and it does return on its own within a few minutes. Perhaps it's some incompatibility between the Tip.It Theme, Firefox, and most advertisements? I'm really not sure, but it's very annoying :-(

All posts in bold
(Sorry if this topic is too old to post in, I'm not sure) I've seen this happen before at other IPB3 forums. It's an issue caused by BBCode, usually in someone's signature. It has to do with a difference in how BBCode and HTML are parsed, because if the "center" "left" or "right" alignment tags criss-cross with a bold or italic tag, containing a font tag, that tag now effects everything below it. For example: [b][i][u][font=Times New Romans] [center]Hello! Nothing odd here, right?[/font][/u][/i][/b][/center] Note how the tags criss-cross. Now see it in effect: Hello! Nothing odd here, right? But check the BBCode by quoting my post, and you'll see that this portion of text shouldn't inherit the formatting of the above text (and furthermore, the above text should get underlined, but this does instead!). For some reason, this formatting continues until the end of a post, and then the rest of the topic inherits only the italic and bold tags (thankfully colors, fonts, sizes, and underline do not also get inherited in this manner). This issue has existed since the release of IPB3, but it's not a big deal - if you see it on a topic, you can just find the last normal post and let that user know that their sig's code is messed up and the center/left/right tags have to be moved to outside all other tags (or the same position relative to other tags with respect to beginning and end, but saying to move the tags to the outside is easier to understand :-P)

Some more RuneScape screenshot fakes and animations/videos
HEY! That's me doing the Ectophial Teleport and I don't remember liquefying into a green blog  OT: Really good fakes, I enjoyed them all :3 Sorry, I had to use the best animation I could at the time (as I didn't have members when I made it), and it happended to be yours, which I saw on the RuneScape Wikia :P

Some more RuneScape screenshot fakes and animations/videos
Thanks, I'm glad you guys like them  I'm actually getting into RS videos soon, so hopefully I can be just as good with those - JeffreySonRS/Mino-Tauros is helping me a bit with learning Blender, so the sort of effects I can do in stillframes and frame-by-frame animation can now be applied in actual videos without taking 20+ hours :-) Really? It seems better than the first video fake? Funny, since that one actually took much longer :XD:. Actually, many people say the Thanksgiving one is my best yet :o And I think the reason people said I was wasting my time was because they felt RS itself was a waste of time (I recall someone saying I could make some cool web apps if I weren't wasting time on RS, in response to a flash video player I made that uses RS graphics (although, if you've worked with Flash before, you'd know how easy it is to swap the graphical theme of a Flash app :P)). Also, did anyone with mod powers who read this topic hide my other topics for any particular reason? I had checked before posting this topic to review whether the posts I received in The Gallery were really rude or if I just still felt sour after a few months, and the topics were there at the start of the day. Now, however, I go to check so I can link people here the topics and show the three fakes that weren't included in this gallery (rather than finding some other copy of the posts at another forum, as one had a large amount of images and text, and I remember the hassle I went through to get all the formatting/emotes to work right on this forum), and I find that the three topics in question have disappeared :-o. If you click my profile and attempt to view the topics I have posted, you see this: However, since I'd viewed the topics today, I know they couldn't have all been clipped off the forum (if this forum even does clip old topics) so fast. So I checked my history, and sure enough, I found my topics: http://forum.tip.it/topic/232812-over-20-hours-of-work-for-something-so-simple-maybe-not-p/page__p__3612169__fromsearch__1entry3612169 (the Flash app I mentioned, coupled with an incredibly simple/brief animation to demonstrate it) http://forum.tip.it/topic/232535-attention-esp-fakers-must-read-urgently-need-support/page__p__3606619__fromsearch__1entry3606619 (one of my most popular fakes. At least, at Sal's Realm, that is. Note that the images have failed to load on that one, so you should click here for a mirror.) http://forum.tip.it/topic/232666-what-parts-of-this-image-are-fake/page__p__3609294__fromsearch__1entry3609294 (part of a little "experiment" where I posted a fake at two forums and awaited the guesses as to what parts are fake. It's funny, but somebody at RuneHQ thought that you actually go to an area like that in While Guthix Sleeps and turn into a wolf :XD:. I guess it can be excused since the quest was new at the time, but he thought the only fake part was the text at the top-left . Anyways, for a better context and more fakes in that series, you can visit this page, or if you want to see the original "fake war" and many peoples' work, click here) Anyways, the topics are still in the forum index and haven't really been deleted, but I'd like to know why they are no longer considered "my" topics. I figure someone decided to do this to cover up the fact that my works were received negatively more so for involving RuneScape rather than for possessing any concrete flaws. Whoever you are, if you had felt my posting here could lead to the old topics being bumped or even flaming to ensue, why not just lock the topics, rather than hiding them entirely from my list of topics and making me think for a moment that they had been permanently deleted, and also not PMing me at all about this decision. And before saying this is a matter to bring up in PM, acknowledge that I could not PM you about this concern because you remained anonymous about hiding my topics and I know not who to PM. I am not really too concerned that my topics don't show up under the list people see when they click my topics (although I was when I first thought the topics had been removed altogether, meanwhile they do not violate any rules), but I'm more concerned that a moderator would take such action without any notifications or explanation whatsoever, especially since it's not too unlikely for a user to try finding their own topics with the convenient feature. Before you consider reverting the action (it serves no purpose seeing as I have posted the links above anyhow, and also seeing as a search of "WolfieMario" under The Gallery brings up the topics as well), I would rather have you give me an explanation as to why you did it (honestly, I would have accepted it without protest as I understand why it would be done). I honestly don't care whether you leave it as it is, or you lock the three topics, or if you even delete them altogether, but I do care whether or not you offer an explanation for this (of course PM may be a preferred option). And before you try to warn* me or something for this, do ask yourself whether it was right for you to hide that I ever made those topics, without even taking the time to tell me why <_< *Wait, does this forum even have warns? I haven't found anything about them on my profile or in my CP. Most forums I've been to give you a limit of 5 or 7, and if your warn count hits that number you're banned (and there are rare negative warns for helping the community). So what happens here if you break a rule?

Some more RuneScape screenshot fakes and animations/videos
Spoiler contains a LOT of fakes. This is the same topic as last time, so if you've seen the fakes from before already, you don't need to open it. EDIT: Here are some more fakes: First, some more stuff I did in Blender, meant to look like trees and bushes from RS (I will use them to make RS-ish places in Blender): The owner of the account "Summoning" posted a topic where a bunch of other skill names logged into his CC, but not everyone's names were skills. I bet you can guess the name of the non-skill :P Inside the spoiler is my response to a topic where a leak pic of the prayer tab with a different icon was posted: For those of you who enjoyed my Canada fake, I made one for the US as well (requested by someone at Sal's, actually :P): Obviously a lot more complex... Also, unfortunately, a bit crammed too :? It actually has a lot of Easter eggs and references scattered throughout it, so you can look here if you want to try your hand at finding them. It's part of a contest I have where you earn points for figuring out stuff like that (there's a scoresheet too). I've recently opened the contest to Tip.It and Zybez, whereas it was originally only available to people at Sal's Realm. You can feel free to put your answers/guesses on this topic or PM them to me here :P Also, there were some fakes I posted in The Gallery, but I'm adding them here too: The above is mainly just a filler animation that I put inside this animation player I made. Also, here is a large set of fakes I made as an April Fools' prank (posted a few days late >.<): https://sites.google.com/site/interactiverune/gallery/faking-against-rules You can see more random fakes by me at my site, here.

Music Video - Psycho Theme
Yeah, I thought the endless corridors added a nice touch of hopelessness. Personally, I tried to make it so that the corridors can represent both the victim trying to escape, and the convoluted mind of the killer. I was half-inspired to do that from a TV show I saw some time ago, in which a character was spiraling towards insanity, and his dreams always involved him running down an endless hallway that fell apart around him. I chose my own take on that after I noticed that the corridor in the apartment I recently moved to seems the same regardless of where you are in it (although irl it's a 3-way junction and one of the sides has no door. I flipped some video clips in order to make it seem as though you're surrounded by doors from all angles). In the video, I decided to up the contrast and use a gradient map to give it a harsh bluish-white appearance, and masked out the darkness behind the doors practically frame-by-frame to make it seem pitch-black behind all doors (although I saw that I kinda messed up the masking in one clip :-? ). I hope my teacher likes this project, as a snow day prevented us from presenting it in class just yet :P

Music Video - Psycho Theme
Thank you :D I've made other irl videos that I haven't uploaded yet, but should I only post the artistic ones here? Because I've also made comedic ones, so I'm not sure if those would be okay...

Music Video - Psycho Theme
Just checking, this is the right place to post videos you've made, right? If not, can a mod please move this to the correct location? Anyways, it's a music video I did for my filmmaking class. It had to be a song with no words, and I chose the main theme of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUQ23mxX4GU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUQ23mxX4GU Comments/Criticism?

29-Jan-2010 - RuneScape Machinima Competition 2
OK now that is definitely my favorite one I've seen so far. I have no idea how he did that but it's awesome...... He darkened the video to hide cropping lines for sure What cropping lines? He did it in Blender, a 3D program, then rendered an animation of it and greenscreened it over. With pure green screen (as is done on computers), you couldn't even tell :P

29-Jan-2010 - RuneScape Machinima Competition 2
When are we going to see it? Friday, I've decided to advertise summoning (with a small twist) I was debating that or Strykerwyrms. Be careful, Friday's the deadline! :o Best of luck |^_^|
-
29-Jan-2010 - RuneScape Machinima Competition 2
Yeah, I know, none of my irl friends are great voice actors, and I certainly am not either #-o We also don't have the best of mics, so I suppose audio isn't the strong point of this vid -.- Thanks :D

29-Jan-2010 - RuneScape Machinima Competition 2
After 21 excruciating hours (not continuous, obviously! :o), it's finally done! (It has up to 720p HD, so it's worth clicking the link!) It took forever to make the fake items, as I did it frame-by-frame (for lack of a better method :/) It's also my first RS thing done in Vegas, and my first RS thing with voice acting (although I did edit the voices significantly, to compensate for microphone quality, make the characters sound more adult, and in the case of scene 3, to comedic effect :P) I'm actually pretty annoyed that after making this I saw several machinimas made partially or entirely in 3D editing software. How much freakin' better mine coulda been if I knew how to use them :(

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Isn't the first letter of the first word of their name supposed to be capitalized? If he's a member who changed his name, it can start with lowercase, and even can contain dashes :P
