What do you mean by Link in Slot 2, does this character have a name, and what type of transfer do you want in Slot 3 - Health or Stamina? And healing is typically considered Passive or Defensive.

Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Okay, I'm going to be running this on the forums. Mostly because I know there are probably some people who just can't use IRC, and I don't want to leave them out. And partially because I want to have references in case of inventory recording errors. People who have characters ready to go: Earth, Nex, Resistance, Ross, Retech, Mather, Grim People who have voiced interest but still don't have an approved character: Icu, Iey

The Cursed Planet
The orphan bit can actually be played quite well, so long as you don't end up with a "I AM YOUR FATHER" moment. It also gets annoying if the character does nothing but ANGST ANGST ANGST about being an orphan. The silver bit can be played pretty well also, but it's so common that it's almost cliche. Same thing goes for wolves, really. (Tangent: I really want to see someone play a magical-morphing-platypus one of these days.) Harry Potter and Naruto.... I won't comment on those. And having a Mary Sue is generally annoying for everyone. So, if she plays the character well, everything can go fine. If she plays it badly, we get !!TRAINWRECK!!.

You get normal affinity speeds, but you get Ice affinity for Slot 1 and Slot 2. So sort-of kind-of.

Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Pretty much. But you don't have a finalized build yet, from what my topic-digging has found... So far, the people with finalized & approved builds are: Earth Nex Resistance Ross Mather Grim

As far as I'm concerned, you could have the 5X BE your hand and it'd still be cool. But okay. Gonna run a session once I get everyone's stuff saved.

Looks good. You're going to end up with highly-posionous armor-piercing sniper rounds, and a gun to fire them. The bullets will cause a bit more fatigue than a normal Metal bullet would, and the gun will be slightly higher than those. It will generally be more precise than most weapons as well, and will be semi-automatic as is standard. Icu, customized weaponry requires customized chips. And in order to get those, you need some blank chips and a customize, which I'm pretty sure nobody has yet. Also, dual-wield is a slot 3 chip. Jen, yours can be a headband if you want to have a headband welded to your head. And metal is rare. As in, really damn rare. It won't remain so for the entire game - supply will increase throughout, since the Russia and Alaska mines have only recently been discovered and tapped, though. But for now, metal is insanely rare. Also, is Jen technically female in this game? Just so I know. So, just for clarity: You'll be capable of creating a Chaos claymore (not sure why you put morschoch there...?). This claymore will take a lot out of you to create, since it's really powerful - restrictions will be similar to Ross's timegun. You will be capable of hitting through dimensions - i.e. ghosts and teleporters have reason to fear you, and a lot of it. You will also be capable of draining some of their energy to yourself with each hit, although it will be a very small amount. Energy drain also comes with the added effect of hastening Alignment changes if you are fighting an opponent using a similar alignment. I'm still going to end up saying Mikeal or Micheal, just because those are more familiar and I fail at alt-text. And, for reference, your shield will be a smoke-shield of varying sizes, capable of knocking back any who dare venture towards it. The size will vary depending on how much energy you put into it. Your slot 3 seems to be similar to Short-range Teleportation, which is a fine effect as far as I'm concerned. But as for having the 5X in your brain, I'm gonna say no. You're going to want to be able to switch chips if you ever find any that are more powerful/useful in your journey. Not to mention it has the approximate volume of one's fist, but can be stretched to about a 1 mm radius. The chips themselves are also flexible in size, but are usually found at about the same size as a thumb drive.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Looks decent, although I'll probably end up spelling the name Michael. Also, I'm not sure what you intend to do with that Phasing capability... and a shield... The Phasing will also probably have a long cooldown to prevent OP. As for the question, most people wear normal clothes, since most of the bombings didn't really hit clothing stores much. Clothing production is pretty much toast, but with the number of people alive and the number of spare clothes in the stores, that's the least of anyone's worries. Also, everybody needs to choose where their 5X unit will be located on their person, else it will be assumed that everyone has theirs attached to their left arm.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
o_O okay then. That works. Same stuff I said applies, but the ammo will cause a bit more fatigue because now you're shooting lightning bolts instead of lightning-imbued crossbow bolts.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
I'd need to know what a Spellcaster looks like, but that seems fine. You can shoot lightning bolts (as in crossbow bolts) with randomised spatial properties. You can curve the path of the bolts once per shot. Creating the weapon shouldn't be too hard, and the ammo will have very little fatigue to use. Because today is Monday, and on Mondays I'm stuck without my decent computer until late? Seriously, right now I'm writing this off my netbook. I have about an hour and a half until my battery dies, and I won't have a chance to recharge it until I get home, which will be well after 9 hours from now. But I didn't know Saturday was Pathfinder day... hrm. I can only run sessions on Thursdays, which are reserved by Icu, Saturdays, which is taken by Pathfinder, late on Fridays, and Tuesdays. Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday I will either not have enough time for a session, or be too tired out to GM.- 04-Apr-2011- Livid Farm
This, pretty much. I've been losing interest in RS as of late, simply because there's not enough useful things to do.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
I never approved your build. Your slot 4 and slot 5 are a bit off, but otherwise it looks fine to me. And Iey, my last couple games died due to lack of interest. I fully intend for this game to stay up and running, though.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Channeling cold can cause freezing if you channel enough of it. It's less effective than direct fire, but with the advantage of conducting through walls, floors, etc. Also, its effectiveness changes dependent on insulators in the substance you're trying to channel through.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Two cards for the same slot? I guess, but you'd have to give up your starter for one of the other slots.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
So you want a time-gunsword with knockback and transformative properties. I'm going to allow it, but creating the thing will very nearly knock you out even with extensive preparation. Creating it on the fly will cause you to pass out (and dismiss it), and if you attempt creating it while moderately wounded, you will most likely go into a coma or die. Shooting it will cause quite a bit of fatigue, and the bullets will typically cause chosen time-related effects and slight knockback to whatever it hits. Also, the warp quality of the thing will allow you to curve the bullets slightly - once per shot. And Grim, using fire in Slot 2 would cause things to combust on impact, regardless of the element in Slot 1. And the amount of energy released can be adjusted to whatever you see fit, within reason. But remember the fatigue. So yes, you could create a fire beam capable of cutting through 3 feet of steel, but doing so would probably knock you out, and thoroughly defeat the purpose.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
Good. So we're clear, that's going to fire a precision fire beam that causes a bit of extra knockback. They emanate from the 5X unit, which is an augmentation system located on your body wherever you please (but the doctor's won't operate on inappropriate places, so keep it PG, folks) Targeting and placement is done neurally, so even if your 5X unit is on the back of your neck, you can still shoot things in front of you. The 5X unit is about the volume of your fist, give or take. Slot 2 can't handle Energy Channeling. If anything, Energy Channeling would probably be Slot 3, just for balancing reasons. But that aside, that setup would summon a ice beam familiar. You could then remove the Slot 3 Familiar Summon chip to shoot ice beams, but you couldn't give your familiar armor unless you had a Defensive-Energy Channeling setup. The same goes for channeling ice energy through metals - you'd need an Energy Channeling setup. Questions: Maintaining a familiar drains energy, but not enough to notice. It is enough, however, that when you fall asleep/get knocked out, the familiar is dismissed. A familiar can stay out as long as you can stay conscious. It is assumed that characters sleep between sessions unless a session ends in the middle of a fight. (This will only happen due to IRL, though, so don't expect to keep a familiar between sessions too often.) You start with the 5X, and 5 chips of your choice that I approve. Normal metal weapons are extremely rare.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
That's kind of pushing it.... I'll think about it. Because if you get a familiar that's not exactly the shape that you put in Slot 5, everybody's gonna want to do that. Meaning I'll end up with: "I summon a spherical fire familiar!" "You summon an offensive spherical fire familiar." "Can I have it have spikes? Or be inverted? Or shaped like a Mobius loop?" Repeat in duplicate for as many people are playing. So.... not really. If you want it to be a not-cone, then you have to put something besides a cone in Slot 5 when you summon the familiar. You can, however, dictate the size of anything created as you wish. Be wary, though, since bigger stuff will drain more energy. And you could create a very small energy burst with Ice as the second slot if you wanted a "touch" freezing attack. You'd have to have Offensive in your 4th slot, though.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
No, the chipset when run dictates everything, and creates an "energy burst" dependent on the chips used. In this case, you'd have a passive, cone-shaped ice energy burst with sentience and the capability to move around. If you wanted to summon a familiar, then "heal" it with cone-shaped ice bursts, I suggest you switch to Offensive unless you want to try dropping passive ice-elemental cones on its head. Buffing and healing a party member usually counts as passive or defensive, situation depending, while buffing and healing a familiar can be done with Offensive, Defensive, or Passive, so long as the energy released comes in contact with the familiar and is of the same element. However, I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to buff a passive familiar anyways... You can remove a chip and still keep a familiar/weapon out. However, all chips equipped while creating said familiar/weapon play a part in the familiar/weapon. And as for channeling pure elemental energy.... well, a few folks tried that with Ice. We'll see what they think once the glacier finishes thawing. Don't ask about the poor saps that tried to channel pure Snot.- Grace, War, and Shenanigans
So, just so you're clear, activating that chipset will create a cone-shaped, non-aggressive ice familiar that freezes stuff on contact. So.... you've designed a chipset that creates a butler icicle capable of keeping your drinks cold as he brings them to you. Not sure if that was what you were going for... If you were to switch the Passive to Offensive, the familiar would be more designed for fighting, and a switch from Passive to Defensive would cause it to defend you. - Grace, War, and Shenanigans
