I think everything needs to be improved, not magic getting weaker. Though with melee I bet you were easily able to just slice someone in half if you were high level. Plus magic backfired and failed a lot.

Polish rebellion will probably follow, meaning you'll probably lose a lot of men for it to be worth it, another country will sieze the opening, and you'll lose a lot of men. A reasonable contract would be this.
