The Cursed Planet
Welcome to my new RPG, Firstly setting: It has been almost a year since the grand cataclysm hit the world of Tetrim. The sky opened up, or was it Heaven itself? The most beautiful gold shone across the clouds of day, and outlasted the stars of night. A full week of devastation hit the four continents, many panicked at the possiblility of judgement day, while others turned to worship the God's for forgiveness, and on the last day, the golden aura that rested over Tetrim dissaperated, and as the sky faded, it fell. It was too fast to even catch a glimpse, but in it's tail, the same gold that had enveloped the world cut across the sky, creating the permanent Aurum Incisum. The object that fell too fast that it even cut the sky, struck in no other place than the grand palace of the Holy Empire of Primus Ascensio. The palace was almost destroyed on impact, many took this as a sign to denounce their faith of the God's, instead taking the cataclysm as a message that they should not be worshipped. While other flocked to the golden city to see the devastation. Within months, throughout Tetrim, people began noticing strange occurences, as if magic had been gifted to a special few, but it was not only humans that were affected by these 'mutations', forests came alive, the sea swallowed ships, lava figures formed and scorched the earth as they marched. The entire world was on the brink of total annhilation, and then the witch hunts came. These 'cursed' people were hunted like mad dogs, by mad dogs (coincedentally) brutally being murdered, some cults even used their remains in rituals. Strangely enough, everywhere but Primus Ascensio was ruined by the aftermath, the energy from the object tamed the manevolent forces, and by the end of the year, the palace was rebuilt, and Primus took their revenge. And this is where the tale begins, Primus Ascensio has formed a vast army, and will purge the non-believers under their gloriously golden war machines. RULES: Magic: Incase it isn't obvious by the opening, magic is 'curses' and every single one of you (unless you choose not to be) is cursed. Now, you get to pick what your curse IS, but here's a few things to remember when you pick your curse: You can pick the power of anything, be it mundane, to simply awesome, but the more powerful (or overpowered) you make your character, the less you can use your power. Your curse drains you, everytime you use it, and so you get weaker and weaker, but you do recover and your body gets used to it after a while, allowing you to create more destruction. If you need an example, let's say you decide, fire is a cool thing to take control of: Now, it's pretty easy to create fireballs (hell they're pretty much fist sized) and it probably wouldn't even effect you if you created a spark to create a fire, but if you want to begin to combust the air around you to form an area of hell around you, you'll probably begin to faint. Now here's a warning: Fatigue is SMALL overuse of power, a LARGE overuse of power results in horrible consequences, such as injury, momentary loss of power (freedom), to death. Now, as you only get to pick the power over one thing, pick carefully, but I will allow you to change early on in the game. Combat: Combat rules are still being thought about, but if I don't find another system I feel like I want to use, it'll be diceroll to determine luck, and then the logic of your attack. Death: You die. Ghosts exist though. NPC's You will meet many characters throughout the story, and you have to make sure you're not an idiot to them, they can kill you and you can kill them. Although some are needed to progress the story. General: We'll be using IRC. You can argue with my decisions (keep it to a private channel or PM) This is not going to be easy There is a gameover. Players: [hide] Captain Benard Wallace Curse: Submerged Transformation Power Rank: Weak Jen Curse: Ice powers Power Rank: Normal Peter Curse: Chronomancy Power Rank: Very Powerful Tim Curse: Gravity Power Rank: Very Powerful Earth Curse: Acid Bending Power Rank: Just slightly below average Auran Curse: Life bending Power Rank: Above Average Amadeus Curse: None Power Rank: Nil Thog Curse: Necromancy (So I guess life-death bending) Power Rank: Above Average Mask Curse: Mimic Power Rank: Variable Hakon Curse: Space Control Power Rank: Powerful Sylver Curse: Animal Metamorph Power Rank: Below Average [/hide] ARCS: Arc 1- [hide] The First Arc The Elemental Creed With the invasion of Primus pending, all throughout Initium (the starting area), a new cult has sprung up, but instead of fading away like mosts cults do. This cult has gained much power lately in the land. They have gained infamy through the destruction of many small towns and villages, but their recent action, the destruction of the City of Caprinus, which was famous for the massacre of many cursed individuals, has sparked much attention in local areas, and has caused fear and unrest throughout the area, of any cursed users, sadly, as there has been no way to subtly tell if someone is cursed, many townsfolk and villagers have been blaming eachother, and thus the Initium Inquisitors have been formed, although they're currently too weak to do anything at this time. The Elemental Creed, as they call themselves, vows the destruction of the capital city of Initium, Inivitas. This is to pave the way for the Primus. The Creed gain their name through the curses of their leaders and henchman, which generally revolve around the elements of Tetrim (Earth, fire, water, air, electric, nature(different to life)) [/hide] World Map -To be created-

The Back Room
Card system is pretty good, but the system for magic has already been created :) thanks for the suggestion though. Thursday seems like the best day, so thursday for the first session it is then! I'll quickly go create a thread. :P

Hegemony
Fine, I'll stop going about it, I'm sorry.

The Back Room
@Stork I only ever really start to think of games when there's been a hole for a while :P I'd co-mod a game with you, but this game I've been thinking of is based off stories that I make and I'd like to keep it mine :P, but if you want to mod a game, I'll probably fit my game in for another time to work on the story. Easter holiday is soon, so it leaves a lot of time in my hand. @Resistance You sure IRC doesn't work? Puzzles, riddles, but nothing too drastic, it'll mainly be logical decisions. Power progresses over time I guess, I mean you could cast the same strength spells from early on, it's just the effect it will have on you. You become more accustomed to your power with use of it. I'll start it if I can get some people to run the first session soon, perhaps on Wednesday Or Thursday. @Grim Thanks, I'll check em out :)

Most likely IRC, although maptool doesn't looks like a horrible alternative, it's just it seems so complex to me, and there's so many issues with it (with the whole map thing in Pathfinder), although it gives a more feel to the game. It'll probably be IRC until I can get Maptool to work well for me.

Hegemony
I dunno Retech, you just sound like a sore loser to me.. Also, I think if you overloaded your puppets with an unbelieveable large amount of soldiers, they probably would have risen up, remember that increases tax rate, which means their tax rate increases. Which means their people get pissed off, which means they'll have revolts. If you just start killing off the revolts, other countries would barge in and take you down. It would NEVER of worked in the first place. If your vision of the world is that as long as it doesn't directly effect you, it wont ever effect you. Then you probably will want to change that. Also, oh well about paying extra amounts for real life stuff, I purchased a ton of real life stuff and I paid extra, it's not like it was MASSIVELY different, and if it was, then you shouldn't of had such a large military.

The Back Room
Welcome back Resistance. Anywho, generally in this tavern we have a few games running, like a DND (Pathfinder or Rogue trader currently) a hegemony and a free form (I think that's the correct term) such as Dungeoneering. After having a few weeks of the distinct lack of a third game I have thought about creating a game, this is unless there is a game coming to replace it (like the return of Space) Now the idea I have had for the game is this Like Space, you're in a group and not seperated out (creating and running multiple stories would tire me out, so working you all towards one giant story would mean the quality of the story improves, as I am only working on one), it is set in a world where magic technically doesn't exist, but instead I am replacing with another system, which I will talk about further down. Anywho, this world is piratey, as in you will still have a lot of chances to use melee weapons, but you will also be allowed basic gunpowder weaponry, blunderbuss and flintlock and such. Almost like Fable in a way. I am also making it so that there are a lot of NPC, as this is pretty much a story that you play through, and you influence which routes it goes down, and ultimately the end. The NPC's are generally there to help in combat, help you if you're stuck in a puzzle but dropping a hint, objectives, and actually be part of the story. They're all killable, many will probably die and so if you want to make the game easier for you, I'd make sure you don't just use them as cannon fodder. Cause I am making the game hard especially the combat system. Now, about magic. I am allowing you guys to pick your power straight away. You will need to learn how to use your power to your ability, and your power will increase in game, but I am removing levels, so it will remove people doing endless actions devoted to TRAINING and actually the story will nicely. Sadly (or in some cases happily) this removes the option of multispeccing, which I guess will be quite annoying, but if you pick the power you like and it's a general power, you will probably have a lot of options with that power. But it will also not allow people to do such things as, encountering a situation where their power isn't so great, and just randomly use another power (such as randomly for no reason, adopting another magic school). Combat will still use dice, but it will not be so heavily chance involved, and half the time is arbitrary, I feel it will mean people wont just go for the same old attacks and may spice things up a little. Also due to me allowing you to pick your own power, to avoid poeple picking the most over powered stuff ever, over use of powers will fatigue you, but it's very easy to know what will fatigue you and what wont, so this means you may want to carry around other weapons, or be savvy with your power. Anyone interested?

The mod is the advisor... You ask him questions and he answers to the best of his ability. Also again Retech If you puppeted the whole of SA I would have declared war on you anyway, it would've put you too far in the lead and thus I would've tried to stop you. So if I destroyed your plans like that, you probably would have quit. And where were you nerfed?

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
When I quest on an RPG and I'm taking out a mob guarding a specific objective (such as an item) and a guy will take it as you fight the mob. I especially hate it when I tell them not to, although there isn't really anything I can do about it. When an anime uses 'the power of friendship' or 'the heart' I'm looking at you Kubo. When people say FML. Teacher's who set homework, and never ask for it, cause I actually do the homework. People who beg for pokes on Facebook People who use memes on Facebook, especially forever alone.

Hegemony
It really does seem like you're qutting cause your plans failed And if your plans DID succeed, I probably would have declared war on you. The point of hegemony is to win, and I can't win if someone is ahead of me.

Germany garuntees the independence of the west South american's who disagree with Brazil's absolute rule stating: "Brazil is too corrupt to control such a vast land, they must be not be allowed full ownership"

I release the images of the American missile silos that were prepping. Claiming "They must have hidden the fact that they were about to cause one of the biggest nuclear strikes once they saw my forces incoming." Not only do these images prove that America have missile sites, but also they were activated. Also Russian human rights thing is called silly, due to the fact they condemnned a country that was only in the war to make sure the countries stayed independent, and was thus saving people.

This war is escalating too fast. Let me discuss this with Brazil first. Brazil, I cancelled the agreement due to information you would be attacking, now that it is very apparent you are going to attack, it's you who is completely in the wrong. Not only are you using a weapon that reduces your prestige to 0 in certain areas. AS IN YOUR PLAN IS RUINED IF YOU USE THAT WEAPON. I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE FUNDS TO INVEST UNTIL NEXT RESET ANYWAY. The deal was pointless in the first place, there is literally no way I can fund in SA until next reset. So, you can ignore the disagreement, and we're both happy. Or you can be an idiot and ruin your plans.

Germany warns that if Brazil were to attack ANY EUROPEAN soil, Germany will release certain plans for the future Brazil rather left quiet to a certain continent in the southern hemisphere.

RIFT
Recently acquired Rift. Level 26 Rogue, Marksman Ranger (Bard, but I'm putting no points into it) Been enjoying it generally, but my PC is so low spec that on the lowest settings I still lag, although it says something about my drivers, and I still haven't updated them. One thing that annoying me a bit, is the Rifts in general. So many higher level players kill off the mobs before I can actually get my good attacks in, that I just end up low on the damage dealing table. I can only shoot out around a few arrows before the mob is killed, and then the lag makes it hard to target a new one before they're killed too. Although I like the general vibe of Rift (WoW clone) as I did like WoW, some of the different concepts are nice.

Well I have a giant tower in Germany, and a massive underground farm growing biofuels, generation 2 ones. Meaning that I don't lose 30% of the energy.

I'm giving them the tech and the funds to replace it.

I will probably keep investing, cause it's trade, I'm not using it to gain power so your entire argument is invalid.
-
Hegemony
You taking my investments has already given me a casus beli. I'm not using it cause I don't actually want war, I just want to have a global market. If you keep rejecting me I'll keep investing. Either way, if this continues, you're going to end up sinking a lot of your budget into this.

TO TRADE WHAT I'M TRADING I HAVE TO INVEST IN THE COUNTRY. I literally pay the country to convert to hydrogen power, and then sell my hydrogen cars in there.

There's two reasons SA is a good investment Loads of minors, they all have low GDP, and are thus easier to get my trade in. Also it allows me to have global economical power (Once I do it to Canada and a SA minor I'll have one on every continent)
