Okay, so basically, Japan and Indonesia have been moving towards oneness for a while (at least, it's been a while in recent history). They're best buds, and are a single day from becoming a single country. Japan has invested all its surplus that was going to reduce the deficit into building infrastructure and schooling in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Australia is sending unarmed transports with soldiers to take over Indonesia. Don't you think Indonesia would defend itself?

Exactly, that's why I'm asking them to stop you. Besides, Japan is a close pacific ally. If not for us, then Asia is basically the continent that sells stuff to the US.

Can we have the condition that these five empty countries are relatively close? It doesn't really make much sense for the United States to take... Brunei (near Indonesia, for reference) Oh, Philipines claimed if we actually go with this, which I doubt.

Indonesia isn't defending against me for the same reason it isn't defending against itself. I never sent troops to Indonesia. Indonesia and Japan joined together to form a single republic. I will probaly be peacefully annexing Papau New Guinea, as that doesn't have an army. I never took Indonesia. The rule is 5 days, not years. Japan and Indonesia are like best buds now. They aren't one bud, but they're best buds. Indonesia is defending itself with its army. Papau New Guinea would do so as well, if it even had an army.

Ross, Indonesia is defending itself. I took Indonesia over peacefully. You're sending an armada. I never even had troops in Indonesia until recently (when I set up a naval perimeter)

Well considering your sending troops to take over a country... A lone tug boat is sent to the Australian navy (how big is the force you are sending?), asking them to turn back immediately. The tugboat man points out the massive artillery based in Indonesia which have the firepower of one or two Yamato class battleships, the largest in history. Japan replies that Indonesia is well protected as it is, and that Japan is just as vulnerable where it is. It points to Australia as "the attack" they are mentioning.

What do I need to oppose? I'm defending my existing position, which is that Indonesia has no reason to go with Australia, considering the positive benefits that they are receiving from Japan, not to mention the even greater culture differences. And he can't send people unless they receive visas. Who isn't going to give them visas? me. Japan leaves the TFTA, so that it can give a tariff to any subsidized goods coming in outside the Japanese free trade area. (So basically, the subsidy is given to me)

1. They're part of the Japanese-free trade area, so they are receiving most of their supplies from there. 2. Ross' people can't come into Indonesia to build schools and stuff, as that is already taken care of.

That's why I said essentially. I'm basically saying that I've already gotten so far in it that Ross needs to make a massive effort to convince them. Which is hard, since basically all their important needs are being taken care of. Not to mention I'm not letting his government workers into the country. And his people need to get Visas.

Puppet state? They've joined Japan essentially, so the republic is pouring in money to fix its infrastructure and schooling. I don't think it'll be hard to keep their favor now that I am creating schools and jobs. After all, a pro-Japanese education will create a generation of Pro-Japanese people.

Anyways, Japan petitions Switzerland to join the TFTA, since it lifted its embargo on India (I think India still has the embargo though) -------- To Ross, it was basically that it has a military alliance and political alliance with Japan. Also, it's been colored red on the map repeatedly. It's not totally under control, but it doesn't mean that they haven't joined Japan. It's just that authority hasn't fully been placed in the transition.

Isn't international trading based on investors? Most nations have taken their currencies off gold. Those US dollar bills don't move much, even when they're not pegged to anything. Japan replaces all their republic friends' money with Yen. The value is exactly the same as before, but basically they're now in Yen. It is expected to increase inflation slightly, which is very good (Japan was experiencing deflation)

I think the amount of gold should simply be to stabilize your currency, but it doesn't really make a big deal. We should just go with 1% of GDP as a standard, and you can raise or cut that for bad and positive effects. So you can still affect tax policy, but 1% would be like no harm but no help.
