  1. Does anyone remember the million army milestone set back in the Chinese civil war? Well now I have virtually made my planets impossible to be landed on (and taken by the Urk-Orz) due to the one BILLION soldier military presense, which is just a fraction of my population. Normally during war, half the population is at war. ------- In other news, transports have been sent to Earth carrying esteemed scientists and business leaders. They are to fully cultivate rare surface food products from the surface of Japan.
  2. The sledgehammer flies out of my hand at Mather. I guess it's taken a life of its own!
  3. I take a crudely built sledgehammer and swing it as hard as I can at Mather.
  4. I guess. I hope we start soon though.

I don't want a space program; I just want to shoot fireworks in the air for every million people I massacre when I take the South-East Asian islands. :)
  6. Or we could start Aerioki and see how that goes.
  7. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Well maybe if you built a large enough catapult... we could shoot random things into orbit for the fun of it. On that topic, can we shoot things into space for the fun of it? (fireworks) :)
  8. Oooooh, extreme super conducters. How much would be needed for a small and large coilgun (handheld and ship-based)?
  9. AMG! (Omg with a fun accent) Let's just drop this super explosive thing and find other uses for this Naquadah thingy. Like super coilguns using Iridium monopole and super conductors to make frictionless(ish) power. :D

So what IS the system right now? Are we just going towards reasonableness?
  11. In my largest temple (in Erikio), there is a Bonsai-style Kelp plant. Unlike normal Bonsai, this one is shaped large and spans thousands of feet. It's a national treasure and has its own "royalty".

I don't have a baseline Archi. :P Are we just going with "reasonable" figures here based on other people's figures?
  13. Suspicious, but I'd say yes. What do you say everyone?
  14. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Why don't you use a 20 sided dice for everyone. Those are the values for each of em. Then subtract the values from a hundred, which is the amount of spendable points you can add. This adds customization as well.

I like Doom's system. It just cuts out the whole "my country is more technologically advanced" argument or the "I have more people" argument. What's your idea about the factory/institute/mine/power plant thing Archi? Also, what are RNG numbers?
  17. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Who is calculating in infrastructure? When I looked above, it seemed that only airships really had a per unit cost attached to them. --------------------- Just putting it out there, my people live either in the sea or tunnel complexes attached to the sea (possibly airlocked). Also, my mothership subs are basically equivilant to the airships. They're flagships.

I think that the big nation building lots of tanks and upgrading their army is much fairer. Keep in mind with techs, small nations have to make more choices. Should I give up 20 million here or build 10 tanks...Hmmmm Compared to the big nations: Hmmmmm should I give up 20 million here or build 10 tanks... Well heck, I have enough people, let's do both! -------------------------- It seems more unfair, but in reality, it is much fairer. ------ What is the ongoing research cost for Subs?
  19. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
I don't mind larger nations having greater tech potential than smaller nations. I just don't want to be forced to choose between building tanks and researching something else.
  20. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Well so far it's just Ross, so Mather, what do you think?
  21. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Just because a nation has more hired muscle (let's say China) doesn't mean it researches three times as fast as the United States. We could have it that man-hours are separate for tech and building. You get the same (current) amount for both?
  22. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
I don't really understand why things are this expensive. Keep in mind the most powerful nations only have 100 million man hours, without losing any troops to fighting or hours to building. That's why for the fuel upgrades, and the new techs, it should be a lot cheaper but have a longer set time to research.
  23. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
That sounds good. On a totally unrelated subject, what does everyone think a single infantry person should cost to equip? We could either have a set cost or a certain amount of infantry can be created for free at the cost of population. What are the prices and length of some of the existing techs? (petrol, tanks, etc)
  24. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
I'm confused. After the division, is the cost of the tech the result? Or is that how much you have to pay per turn for a set amount of time?
  25. Retech replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Just because a nation has massive amounts of people doesn't mean it'll research faster. Basically what I'm saying is, nations normally don't have to sacrifice production of industrial goods for technology, and your method allows the research of technologies in a comparitively shorter amount of time. We'll have the problem of satellites by 1950.
