The Vending Machine Game!
You get a dictionary, which is stolen by a 15-year-old. *inserts D&D 3.5 Player's Handbook*

Rivers Run Red
I'm voting against Rogue Trader, at least for now. Just found my D&D Player's Handbook darnit.

The Back Room
Keep going at it Stork, you're already getting better. You need to get a little better with proportions between characters in the same setting, perhaps measure some part of them and use it as a reference for other characters on the same plane?

We Choose The Moon!
Well I'm not wasting money, I hate the stupid rulebooks and so forth. Wait... holy crap... I just remembered I have a D&D 3.5 Player's Handbook. :P

Sounds fun. Where's the SRD?

The Drow Corner
Archi, I love that game. Also, stop being such a conspiracist. :P On the subject of April Fool's, no one is happy with how the plan ended up, including the perpetrators. <_<

Eh, Sci-Fi Modern Fantasy. Expect Mechs, expect Ghosts, expect massive ordnance of indeterminate origin.

The Back Room
Iey, Psion, Inherent, and Forge have been cut and merged into universal magic. Everyone has magic that can be used in a weak fashion for just about anything, though the more they use one sort the farther down that path they will go. Invoking and Empath Magic is simply a power-up. I take the Fey Winds approach to healing though, in honesty... Trying to accelerate something like that in a human body with anything less than pure Phlebotinum is usually a bad idea. As for buffs, not generally as mid-combat magic, but a Forge can create all sorts of magical devices of varying degrees of tangibility and I'm sure people will come up with other ideas. EDIT: Space was a veritable joke factory. Nothing has made me laugh so hard before, and I doubt many things ever will again. Between the ridiculous ideas of the players and the mod toying around with them, it was just too perfect.

Goonstalf, stop possessing innocent accounts for nefarious purposes. Seany, both individuals seem very comfortable with their sexuality. The elbow guy in particular has had many girlfriends, and not in the running-away-from-being-gay sort of way.

Not in Ithaca, my good man. There are men who walk around in vibrant purple and short-shorts, and some with odd gender-indiscriminate elbow obsessions, but out of all the 'flamboyant gays' I've met none of them have been homosexual. That's what you get when everyone in town is a hippie, a performer, or just plain out of it.

My lunch table jokes about how we're the closest you can get to Glee in real life. Except not. It's really funny, actually, we're just as disfunctional a dynamic and just as talented in theatre and singing, but the tendency is towards pragmatism bordering on pessimism. We also don't have anyone who's gay, openly at least.

Oooh pretty drawing Vix. Iey, what do you mean? Where did I limit what the magics could be used for? :P

The Back Room
Well, they're more like character classes. It needs some more work, not ready for a session yet after all. :P This was very helpful in thinking through the magic, and my brief overview of Invokers and Empaths uses three of the classes: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FunctionalMagic I think I'll probably change around Innate, Forge, and Psionic magics. Innate in its current form will be dropped, and become universal. Psionics and Forge Magic will be under the domain of this universal magic, which is generally weak and specific to an individual. Invoking and Empath Magic are separate for their focus on external energies, though both use the universal magic as a kickstart; for a spirit to be open to Invocation, it must be bound through ritual to serve those who call, and Empaths guide the greater force behind a spell with their own energy. Invokers are Theurgy (spells are performed by another being)/Rule Magic (commands are given through handsigns), a supernatural power is specified by name and a command is (usually) given through handsigns. The handsigns are used (rather than words or other mediums) because they are easy to conceal, quick, difficult to counter, and can be manipulated in interesting ways for stronger casters. Usually Invokers make use of some sort of brace to steady their hands in the correct position, for obvious reasons, though this limits use of that hand. Simultaneous Invokings of one entity, or a quick succession of strong invokings, can decrease the power of spells. This means that you may have to go significant lengths to find an untapped, powerful source of magic. And woe betide the individual who messes up a complicated gesture, it is not uncommon for young invokers to end up catching important things on fire. Empaths are the flip side of Invokers, and their magic is most similar to Force Magic. Instead of summoning entities to perform their spells, they perform their own magic; but spells beyond the scope of universal magic require sympathetic beings to lend their own reserves. They often serve as, essentially, a conduit for a greater power or a group of supporters. Empath magic is much more reliable than Invoking, rarely requires more than a mental direction of energy to use, and can combine any number of power sources. It also may be more difficult to gain power, as only willing subjects can lend Empaths their power and spirits may make demands of those they assist. There's much more, but it's too convoluted for me to write down before retiring to my bed. I can answer any questions tomorrow, though.

I know, Rocco. I'm trying to be unbiased in my warnings thank-you-very-much. <_< It wasn't going to be, Retech, though if you have any suggestions I'll take 'em. Maptool is fun. ALSO, another new favourite webcomic: Romantically Apocalyptic!

The Back Room
If anyone is interested, I can try running a trial session of The Hunted. Complete with a beginner mission, as well as a bit of backstory. I'm too lazy to update the main thread right now. Here are the magics: Invoker Int/Dex: Uses handsigns and the names of spirits to summon supernatural powers. Empath Cha/Wis: Coerces inhuman powers to their cause through diplomacy and force of will. Innate Mage Wis/Con: Manipulates reality to achieve magical effects, generally weak. Forge Int/Str: Capable of shaping magic into a physical form, to achieve effects beyond conventional technology. Psion Wis/Cha: Possesses strong mental prowess, able to influence the physical world with thought. Invoker and Empath differ in that Invoked spirits are usually more powerful, less friendly, and weakened by multiple simultaneous Invocations while an Empath's associated spirits are more mundane, kindly, and rarely have their powers split between individuals. Also note that it requires at least 12 points in the relevant stats (Going by Pathfinder points buy) to use each magic, and only one can be chosen. Now, dinner, BRB.
