Well yeah, I guess when you put it that way and swing for the lowest common denominator "everyone does something to achieve something". Better to hit a foul ball then to not hit the ball at all. ;)

My real fear of longboards is that I won't know how to stop when I get going fast down a hill. Lean far to your right, until you fall off the longboard. Stopping safely, on the other hand... Tuck and dive, and pray you dont hit a car or break something. When I used to skate I just tilted my right foot off the edge of the board so it lightly touched the ground, and gradually pushed harder on the pavement until I stopped.

No, no no and no. You're in school to learn and to think for yourself, not to be a computer. The only reason someone should need to use a calculator is if they're multiplying a five digit number with itself five times over, and they never ask those questions in school anyways. If you don't know why 9 x 9 is 81 because you're used to the answer 'because the calculator says it is so it must be so' then you're pretty much useless to society. You might not do everything on pen and paper at 'work' but you won't get the job in the first place if you don't know the 'why's. Ok, let's be realistic here.
