Icu, it doesn't matter what your going to use it for, you have a long distance, undefendable weapon that can literally destroy an empire in a matter of days and your arguing that you will only use it for spying! If you have a big ray gun or something I'd agree it would be a fair fight and probably wouldn't take military action but if there is a threat that i have no way of knowing whether its happening or not and no way of stopping than I am almost going to certiantly attack you. So its a weapon that I can't trace, I can't stop but the moment theres a war you can proxy control my people to disagree with me.

So you can have overpowered weapons as long as you only use them for defence, or claim to. It wouldn't even work, you can't teleport electricity or get it to a different area without either interface (static would kill it) or short distance appliance.

Theres no way to defend from it, thefore its overpowered. I research a new pistol, it instantly kills any race but needs ten years research into race, it never misses and it kills 100%, regardless of armour and whatever else. but I spent a lot of time on it so its fine.

Weapon is undefendable with a small achilles heal therfore it is overpowered.

What the hell, yes it does. Antagonist = Enemy of protagonist, whether the protagonist is good or evil. The fact that your plagarising stargate just pisses off everyone even more, I mean even if you had made up your own idea and it did the same idea's we'd accept it but as its stargate we feel more resentment to it. Mather, it doesn't matter what the moderator wants, just because he's in charge you don't have to mentally block every piece of critiscism you've got. I haven't recieved any critiscism and as far as I know no one else has, there obviously is something wrong with the way your going about it.

My thought process: Mather's race is completly overpowered, I'm going to attack him first so he can't attack me with his ubertech, I also think a lot of people have my mindset so I can probably create an alliance against him. Suppose it's fun to have a shared antagonist though.
