11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Just sent out my first trio in the plate/lacquer storyline at 92% Also had 6 chi and 6 lacquer come in successfully just now. My RNG has sucked lately for rolling voyages though, I send out a 20 k combat mission and then all I roll for the next 6-7 missions are combat missions. I went through 10 out of my 15 like this... Now I won't be able to send out a full amount of voyages tomorrow.

It is never better than any armor that boosts your damage with the exception of tanking Nex and KK or soloing Kree. Defense is never needed outside of those situations, so my apologies for assuming that people would assume other damage boosting armor where applicable if nex is not affordable (which outside of Torva it very much is affordable, especially if he's making 3-4 m/hr at glacors). Next time I'll make sure to make my posts even more idiot proof so there's no confusion.

How are you not sure? Just go check. Also refer to my post a little further up for what to do for your crew. It's worth getting rid of lvl 10 jade crew for steel crew because a steel crew at level 7 will be better than jade at level 10.

Please dear God tell me that you've been hired as lead content developer for Jagex and you're firing everyone else and hiring Q, XPX, Saradomin Mage, Aeil, Octarine and Hedgehog in their place? Also you're choosing to give me your p-hat? kthx

Any place you would use ports Nex armor is better. The only time you'll "need" the defense is if you tank Nex or the KK, and full DL is needed to solo Kree with just soul split. I would still work on getting it though, I believe that the ports expansion that we're getting is going to add an option of bonus damage to our superior versions. QBD is not complicated. With Drygore you can pretty much walk through with sub 3 min kills every time. The only thing you need to watch for is the 4x soul spawns and the super breath in phase 4 but if you use berserker and adrenaline pots that will only come up 1/100 times that you do it. That being said it's probably about the same as Glakkers for money at this point. Unless of course you don't care about efficiency, in that case you can screw using offensive armor and just use ports everywhere.

Hello, I'm the Doctor! Back and ready to be a noob again!
Lol who plays this game? Also got my fishermans hat. I have 10 more tickets to use and I'm getting 35 tickets per game so I should be able to afford the full set including daily tickets in 2 days. Also rolled my first trio mission which I will be able to send out at near 100% because I can get to 15000 right now and I have 3 bags of rations to use. Wewt!

...really? A JoD is the Judge of Dice. You unlock them from a special voyage while in the bowl region. If you're already at the final stage you should have at least 3 of them already and rolled through many more. At level 10 they're worth a total of 1400 of each stat (900 for each one, +100 for each additional unique crew member you have on the ship for another 500 in each stat). At the moment it's not worth it to pursue additional resources besides trade goods unless you need them for crew, ship parts, or building upgrades. If all your buildings are luxurious, you've got all the ship parts, and you have maxed crew (which you apparently don't, you need Jade for JoD) there isn't any use for them. Odds are any updates will be for new trade goods or new resources all together (possibly a new region?) so unless they implement some sort of resource exchange ratio (which they won't because its Jagex and they hate good ideas) all your resources will be at worse useless and at best easily attainable.

LRC Fishing
I'm 85 fishing atm. I'm working on getting 90 for ports because plate. I have tier 1 CoS and granite lobsters. I will be doing fish flingers for the 5% boosting outfit before I start this so knowing that I'm not sure if I would get the best fishing exp/hr doing 1. Admiral Pies up to Rocktails 2. Admiral Pies and sticking with Cavefish. Or if pies don't really help at cavefish at this point should I just do cavefish. I will also be using urns the entire time ofc. EDIT I also do c2's when I need to get my DG floors reset. However for some reason barb fishing irritates me so I am not going to be persuaded to go there. Cheers!

General concenus is you want 5 moral 5 combat 5 seafaring 3 JoD 3 Jade Merch 4 Oxheads (Obviously when you get to pincers is when you can get oxheads). I personally have 4 jade merchants right now until I can get a 3rd and 4th oxhead. I recommend having 2 sea witches still (if you haven't fired them yet) for moral/seafaring missions because their total bonus is around 2100-2200 (moral+seafaring) compared to other maxed bowl crew being at 1900 at the time. Sea witches definitely get replaced in pincers though. I would get the jade merchants first as well, if having a jade merch lowers your chance of success by less than 30% its worth sending them out (generally it only lowers it by 7-12% in my experience). In the long run it averages out to be more resources, which means buying your crew/ship/building upgrades faster. Again I'm no expert, if someone has a better opinion please correct me so that I can learn.

Optimizing LRC
Quickhopping is right clicking someone in your friends list and hitting join. It lets you switch worlds without having to go through the 30 second or whatever it is countdown by going to the lobby first. It also saves you from having to run to the next gold spot as it's more than likely up on the world you're switching to. Get v2, getting the higher levels while having other bonuses which are nice, will not up your chances at more gold. You should be superheating the second the ore comes into your inventory. Put a gold ore in the bottom right of your inventory. When you get another ore hit superheat, when the animation is over hit drop. It should do it to the ore you just got and not the one in the bottom right letting you use that one until you need to switch ore spawns. If any of this is wrong (I don't think it is) someone else feel free to correct me.

Please tell me you paid to have it out of drydock though...? Anywho unless its a scroll mission I wouldn't ever send out a voyage that low, just reroll it.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
I personally would get crew first. They improve and normally within 2-3 missions they pass your previously owned crew. Ship upgrades are flat, won't ever get better and should be done after rudder -> crew -> ship -. warehouse -> all of other building upgrades.

Ports Standard Voyages Data
Alright, I'll check to see if I can access it tomorrow. I'll be going out of town until Saturday evening so I won't gather the data until then, and probably won't analyze it until Sunday. When I do I will post my results here.

Leveling Magic
High alching has an absolute max of 78 k xp/hr or ~1200 items per hour. If you were to use your 9 k nature runes on alching it would take you 7.5 hours to get through them all and assuming 300 gp profit per alch (rune daggers for example) you would make 2.7 mil. So high alching you get 360 k gp/hr and 78 k magic exp/hr Superheating by comparison is going to give you ~110 k exp/hr in magic as well as ~120-130 k exp/hr in smithing exp. You can run ~2 k bars an hour so 4.5 hours to burn through your nature runes at a cost of 2.3 mil. You can more than afford that on your 3.5 mil budget. Take into consideration you'll also have MTK running and should be farming herbs every day by the time you're done superheating you shouldn't have lost any net worth at all. In exchange you're going to get almost double the total level exp and with more than half of that being in smithing which is one of the most expensive skills to train (superheating is the cheapest gp/exp right now). It's up to you but in terms of opportunity cost it doesn't ever make sense to alch. Even if you get lucky and buy something for way below its alch price in the G.E. its better to sell it at its alch price in the G.E. ad use the cash to fund other faster methods of training. The only exception is doing it to drops on slayer tasks if it means not having to bank but that rarely becomes an issue.

Ports Standard Voyages Data
I don't, if anyone does and would like to do it so that I don't have to compile it over the course of weeks on end that would be much appreciated.

Hello, I'm the Doctor! Back and ready to be a noob again!
DIdn't do much today so far, I plan on getting 86 fishing tonight when I get home from being out on the boat with my family. Also I realized that I've derped in ports for the last few weeks. I have the biologist, convict, and missionary unlocked and didn't have my icons configured to up my odds of getting their trio missions. Fixed that now so I can start working towards that beautiful 50 plate/lacquer mission...

Ports Standard Voyages Data
I'm collecting data (unless someone else can point me to where someone else has) on the likelyhood of getting trade good missions for your normal 15 you get per day. If anyone wants to help out please pm me all what all of your voyages were for the day, what resource for each voyage you got was, and how many of that resource was up for grabs, and the number of trade good totems you have. Example 1. Steel 700 2. Steel 450 3. Steel 300 4. Plate 5 5. Bones 2 6. Steel 700 7. Steel 140 8. Chi 4 9. Spice 30 10. Steel 300 11. Steel 450 12. Steel 300 13. Lacquer 5 14. Steel 700 15. Steel 140 # of trade good totems : 0 If I get enough people to send me their data every day (I'm thinking 5 k data points is probably enough) I might also do some work on stats for Special Voyages. If 9 people send me their stuff every day it will only take a week to come up with 1 k data points so just under a month for 5 k. I'll also be posting this on request in the data and research thread. You can also post your data here. I will check this and my inbox every day.
