Update 8th August 2016 - Wilderness Improvements & Tasks
Arceus posted a topic in General Discussion
Wilderness Improvements & Task Set Wilderness newbies and veterans alike should definitely take a walk on the wild side this week. From stealable Slayer contracts and new skilling spots to Task Sets for players of levels, there are more reasons than ever to lose yourself in the wild and earn great rewards in the process. Be sure to check out all the improvements and features, along with the usual patch notes and other news. Wilderness Task Set The Wilderness can be a really intimidating place for a new RuneScape player to start but thanks to the new Task Set, there is a now a structured way to make your first steps into these dangerous but fruitful lands. Experienced players will also have loads to gain from playing through the Tasks, not least the powerful Wilderness sword detailed in the Rewards section below. For convenience, Tasks can be done in any order, but you can’t claim a set's rewards until you've completed it and all the tasks in the previous ones. Requirements RuneScape members only The Easy Set has no requirements at all. Later Task Sets have increasingly high requirements, full details of which can be found in the Adventures interface, under the Achievements tab. Rewards As well as an XP lamp, completing the Easy set of Tasks will earn you the Wilderness Sword. This weapon upgrades as you complete each harder set of tasks and its bonuses stack as follows: Tier 1 (Easy Tasks) Free teleports to the Wilderness herb patch & EdgevilleLocates the WildywyrmTier 2 (Medium Tasks) +5% XP at Wilderness Agility Course (the sword must be equipped)Improved pickpocket rates at roguesTeleports to Forinthry DungeonTier 3 (Hard Tasks) Provides air obelisk shortcutQuick teleports to Wilderness lodestoneAccess to item un-noter at the Chaos AltarNo disease at the Wilderness herb patchChoice of destination at the Wilderness ObeliskChance to teleport to centre of the Abyss (the sword must be equipped)Tier 4 (Elite Tasks) 1 free daily teleport to the Warbands camp of your choiceLava strykewyrms drop noted ashes (sword must be equipped or in your inventory)Free teleports to Wilderness Agility CourseImproved drop rate for ancient warrior equipment in Forinthry dungeonTeam capes give the effects of Ava’s devicesClaim your rewards from the following taskmasters: Easy Tasks – Mr Ex, Edgeville.Medium Tasks – Mandrith, Edgeville bank.Hard Tasks – Quercus, on the Wilderness wall between Edgeville and the Grand Exchange.Elite Tasks – Kolodion in the Mage Arena.Enjoy getting out there, completing those Tasks and earning this stunning new weapon! Wilderness Improvements Be aware that we’ve reverted the way stackable objects are considered when protecting items on death in the Wilderness. Stackable objects are once again considered to be separate objects, rather than an individual stack. Please keep this in mind when exploring the new skilling and features of the Wilderness, as detailed below. Improved Wilderness Skilling The revitalised Wilderness is now full of new and improved skilling spots, each offering excellent XP and even the unique new bloodweed herb. Cursed Divination Wisps Visit the Sword of Edicts and catch the cursed wisps. The wisps in this location are highly variable meaning anyone can train at them. They offer differing XP rates in a similar manner to the Ourania Runecrafting altar. Once memories caught here are converted to energy, they can be weaved into any of the standard energies, provided you have the Divination level to harvest them. Chaos Altar Prayer Training The Chaos Altar in level 12 Wilderness now functions as an equivalent to the gilded altar (+350% XP) in a player-owned house without the need to light burners. Also, after completing the Hard tier of the Wilderness Task set (details in the section below), a friendly NPC un-noter becomes available in this location. Rogue’s Castle Pickpocketing Rogues in the Rogues’ Castle now can be pickpocketed for bloodweed seeds (see the bloodweed section below for more details). Pickpocketing them also works the same way as pickpocketing in Prifddinas except that when you are caught you can’t pickpocket rouges on that level of the castle for 30 seconds, oh and you’re in the Wilderness too, so watch your back! Wilderness Slayer Contracts New Wilderness Slayer contracts work like ones from the Slayer Tower except that if you are killed whilst in possession of one, the player who kills you can take it, work it and cash it out! Other than that, they offer the same additional +20% of the Slayer XP you would get from killing a Slayer creature on assignment. Additionally, the Wilderness Slayer contracts will stack with the Demonic Skill improvements. See section below for more detail. Charming Moths Charming moths can only be caught barehanded, but rewards players with the four standard summoning charms. Requires level 88 Hunter and level 83 Agility. Bloodweed and New Potions A new herb patch has been placed near the canoe exit. Any herb can be grown here but more importantly this is the only place in Gielinor where the brand new bloodweed can grow. Bloodweed requires level 57 Farming to grow. Thanks to bloodweed, three new potions can now be made, each giving amazing effects wherever you use them: Luck potion: Bloodweed + crushed dragonstone. Ring of wealth effect for 60 mins. Requires level 57 Herblore. Tradeable.Camouflage potion: Bloodweed + black salamander. Hides your dot on the minimap for 60 seconds to aid in sneak attacks. Requires level 65 Herblore. Untradeable.Aggression potion: Bloodweed + searing ashes. Makes all attackable NPC’s aggressive to you for 6 mins. Requires level 82 Herblore. Tradeable.Other Wilderness Improvements Wilderness Banks All of the Wilderness team cape sellers now act as bankers! Note that the banks cannot be opened in combat, and are closed if attacked. Please note – Richard in Edgeville and Larry at the Gamers’ Grotto do not have the option to bank. Skulled Vendor & Better Bandits Noterazzo in the Bandit Camp, now has a stock of highly desirable items. The catch is, he'll only trade with you if you’re skulled! Be aware that the bandits in the Bandit Camp have also had their combat stats improved and have been given more powerful weapons. They won't hesitate to annihilate you if you aren't skulled already. Noterazzo sells fifty of various general store tools but his more interesting stock includes 3000 Broad arrowheads. Vial pack and water vial packs are available at 90% their usual store price. Gold leaf, marble block, algarum thread, reinforcing plate and stone of binding also appearing at 90% price. Bloodweed seeds are also sold by him but he only has 5, costing 50,000 coins each. Noterazzo restocks at midnight. Wilderness Switches A pair of switches has been added to the forest in the south-eastern edge of the Wilderness. Rack up the highest score you can by pressing one after the other as many times as possible without dying. Your exploits will be broadcast at the following press milestones 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 and so on. The chain of presses ends when you are killed or log out. Muddy Chest The muddy chest in the lava maze had an updated drop table. Bloodweed seeds may be acquired here along with random chances of getting items like the dragon longsword, limpwurt root, the crystal key and blood runes. Free-to-play players may still open the chest but won't receive any members’ objects. The chest will always drop 5000 coins. Magic Axe Hut Similarly, the chest in the magic axe hut has been rebalanced to offer better rewards whilst maintain its low-level (level 23 Thieving and a lockpick). Refreshed random drops include the rune battleaxe, mithril axe, muddy key and anchovy pizza. Demonic Skull Purchasing and wearing the demonic skull from the Mage of Zamorak in the Wilderness now also gives improved Agility XP at the Wilderness course. Starting at level 50, this will scale up, leading to double XP at level 75 and eventually triple XP at level 99. Slayer XP in the Wilderness, Farming XP for collecting produce, Hunter XP at charming moths & Divination XP gained at the cursed crater are all boosted by 20% while wearing it too! Whether you’re new to the Wilderness or an old hand at surviving and thriving, we hope you enjoy this bumper update to its content! Hello fellow Runescapers!
Arceus replied to TriGryphonRS's topic in Introductions, Farewells, & Forum Account Help
Hi there, nice to meet you :). I guess you are playing RS3 now then, right? -
Ouch, glad they finally got it fixed 21.630.

1. They went through a series of buffs and debuffs for 2h and dual wielding so that shifted stuff around a bunch. For melee a scythe is greatly preferred in most cases because it has the halberd feature - you can attack with melee at a distance of two squares. Technically, drygores are still better dps for a single target, but in most bossing situations you will have minions to contend with. A t90 dual wield will probably serve you better, unless you want to do something like camp abyss for XP. For slayer it may be advantageous as you can cleave more targets and the extra accuracy isn't really an issue. For ranged, the difference is almost insignificant. Ascensions allow you shield swaps for better use of defensive abilities with bosses, and also give slightly better DPS. For magic a staff is generally better in bossing, as you have Sonic Wave which can be used frequently to boost the accuracy of your next attack. A chaotic staff should do for the time being. 2. I never got any defenders but my understanding is they are mainly of use in high-level PvM, especially in conjunction with the untradeable armor sets rewards from Raids and its set effect. It is of note that you'll need to sacrifice a t90 offhand weapon to make a t90 defender, and anything below that is probably not worthwhile. So to make a long story short, if you have time to kill you might as well get up to dragon in the Warriors' Guild to unlock them as potential drops from bosses, but you probably won't have any use for them for a while yet. Hope that helps!

Actually the microtransaction component is not as significant as it might appear at first glance. It is mainly a bunch of glittering cosmetics, and yes, if you throw enough money at it you can level a bit faster. If learning new combat is not something you are inclined to do, there are workarounds such as using Legacy Mode or even starting over on Old School. Also moving your topic to Help & Advice where it's better suited.

Better late than never! Nice to meet you :).

I'm mving your thread to Community Discussion where it is better suited. -- I won't deny that you are right, many pages are outdated or reflect legacy type combat. It is unfortunate but also a fact of life that we have nearly 14,000 items, many calculators, and hundreds of pages and guides. We also have only a dedicated but small team, and as I'm sure you know, there is only a finite amount of time on our hands. Between real life and actually playing the game, there are only so many hours in the day and we have to do our best to keep up with new events (like the Invasion of Falador), new quests (i.e., Nomad's Elegy), updates and so on. We also take a degree of pride in verifying our information as readily as possible, to make sure that it is correct or at worst outdated, and avoid things that are downright incorrect. I can understand your frustration in that there is a somewhat new poll and far more outdated pages. It takes mere seconds to add a poll, and it is something fresh for people to see and interact with on the front page if they want - or they can just ignore it, if not a fan of them. To verify clue rewards, we would have to hunt down clues or screenshots ourselves, verify it, and add the information. This generally is longer and I'll admit, more frustrating that it sounds. I haven't done it for clues, but I have personally invested time to research things and tinker with things in order to find out how they work, like when I wrote our Easter Guide and spent several hours with another site's incorrect puzzle solution, figured it out and wrote a proper and clear explanation for our own site. We may not have a flash update every day to post on the frontpage, but if you check there you can see that we are indeed still updating and publishing things as time goes on to the best of our ability. All that being said, you mention the clue scroll rewards page - I do agree that that page is out of date. I personally don't do clues on RS, so I am not sure what's missing. I can see the dyes for hard and elite rewards are missing, and I imagine that there are others. Again, I can understand that you feel disenchanted and you have every right to use the fansite or resource of your choice - but in the event that you have a change of heart and would like to share any more specific details/screenshots of items you have received from any difficulty, we would welcome your contribution and of course, credit you accordingly.
-
Moved your thread to Help & Advice where it's better suited. After looking around I'm unable to find any reason why it disappeared...you sure you didn't use it or it didn't go into item xp for some reason? It may well be a glitch tht you should report to Jagex.

The Arc & Uncharted Isles | Invention XP | Flourishing Fairy Outfit You suggested it and now it’s finally here – RuneScape has a brand new region waiting for you to set sail and explore. Once you meet the requirements, head over to The Arc islands via Port Sarim for skilling, hunting, slaying and so much more. When you’ve earned yourself some currency there, blast into the neighbouring Uncharted Isles and lay claim to your very own island paradise. Check out a spectactular new addition to Solomon's Store, too: the Flourishing Faery Outfit. Also this week is the lifting of the Invention XP-item amnesty. Read on for all the details about that, as well as our usual patch notes, streaming info and other news. Requirements:RuneScape members only. To access the Arc islands, you only need to have completed the mini-quest “Impressing the Locals.” Speak to Trader Stan in Port Sarim to begin. To explore the uncharted isles and claim your own island you must have one or more of the following skills at level 90: Fishing, Hunter, Slayer and Woodcutting. Miniquests in and around the Arc islands will have individual requirements. The Arc Islands The first three islands of an area called The Arc are now here for you to explore! Get ready for a host of different action-packed activities, challenges, skilling opportunities, miniquests, characters, nuggets of lore and so much more. Arrive first at the trade hub of Waiko. Talk to the various characters who inhabit this bustling and vibrant marketplace. Take on miniquests, continue the Slaver storyline or carry out tasks to earn the unique currency, chimes, which can be spent on the resources necessary to start the second part of this initial Eastern Lands release: exploring the Uncharted Isles, but more on that later in the post! Secondly, travel to Whale’s Maw. Located in prime fishing waters this is the perfect spot for training your Fishing and Hunter skills. Finally there's Aminishi – a Slayer-focussed island. Investigate the mysterious cult of monks who inhabit it and discover their links to the monstrous spirit dragons. What secrets will you discover in this strange and wondrous place? Additional islands, some of which you can see on the Arc’s map screen, will be added in future content releases. For now, let’s look at the other part of this bumper initial Eastern Lands update. Explore the Uncharted Isles – find your own island paradise Once you have earned enough chimes, the unique currency of the Eastern Lands, you will be able to spend them on Supplies from the market in Waiko. Once you have enough Supplies (and meet a level requirement – detailed above) you will be able to explore the Uncharted Isles. This is a procedurally generated region where every voyage brings up more uniquely shaped islands with random assortments of resources. Land on any island you discover, skill, kill or chill there for a while, then move on to the next one in search of different riches. This is where the really high-level skilling is to be discovered in the Eastern Landsand you’ll have to keep on exploring the Uncharted Isles for a chance to find it. When you find one you like, place a flag on it to save it as your own permanent, private resort. Once decided upon, you can return to your island whenever you like. Perhaps you picked it because of its abundance of useful skilling resources or perhaps you just like the shape – it’s up to you to explore and discover. You can even add customisation to your new base too, including a fabulous hammock that you can use to change the time of day. The best islands with the biggest riches will cost the most of supplies to reach. Save up by taking part in as many Arc activities as possible and launch a voyage farther into the unknown that any ‘Scaper has gone before! Remember - this is only the first part of the Eastern Lands expansion and many more features are planned. Stay tuned for further news of the upcoming additions to this wonderful new horizon for RuneScape. Now get exploring! The Eastern Lands are all about exploring and it’s a clean slate for you all. What will you discover? Unfortunately it seems to be a members item, so I don't think so. Sorry :(.
-
I won one of these from Balthazar's raffle last month and, assuming it works the same as the last draw, when placed anyone else can benefit from it for an hour. I have no real use for it myself, so if anyone wants it leave your name here or pm me ingame (Arceuus) and I can set it down for you wherever you like. I'll close this once it's been given out.

1. Technically the best is the new t92 stuff from Telos, but those are unfortunately several billion each at the moment. For range, ascension c'bows are actually slightly higher dps than their nox counterpart, the noxious longbow. The only disadvantage is that they have a much shorter range if you are doing something where you need to move around a lot. A scythe, however, is highly advantageous as it is halberd class and can swipe at opponents from two squares away, allowing you to evade melee attacks in most cases, and is much more effective in clearing out multiple targets. There is a dragon rider lance as well (~30M), which is functionally a scythe with slightly less damage. On the magic side noxious staff is actually much cheaper than the other t90 equivalent, which are seismic wand and orb. Short of that a wand of the crywyr elders, staff of darkness, or the seasinger wands from Player-owned Ports are all cheaper alternatives. In most cases, they are essentially equivalent, with only real differences being preference for one or two abilities and the chance to swap to a shield when needed. Scythe is the notable exception. 2. I haven't done higher level bossing but t70 seems mostly adequate and t80 (the anima core armor) seems very comfortable. For example if you go to Kree with ascension c'bows and soul split, you should be able to camp there indefinitely with t80 armor or even t70. Ports is even better but you will end up paying money to repair it once in a while. If you wanted to go kill Vorago, Rise of the Six, Raids, etc., you would probably need higher level armor due to requirements that teams impose. It is possible to go solo and work toward the armor by selling all the drops. Making them yourself might be awhile though. I am only a sample size of one but I have yet to get one crest, which would make one piece of one set of armor, in almost 400 kills. (I did get a wand & lance though). It's kind of personal preference though - if you are good and efficient at it you could probably make more money, or you could just go kill frosties if you find that less tedious. 3. You have maxed stats, access to overloads and curses, so you have plenty of options available to you. The best method would be Araxxor, but it requires some skill and practice to learn. It also requires a large number of kills to obtain all three tradeable pieces of a spider leg before you can sell it and make your first big profit, and eats a large amount of supplies, but regular drops aren't bad either. There's also GWD1, the GWD2 bosses like I mentioned above, and QBD as viable solo options. It is hard to say what the profit per hour is for each individual boss because it depends on a large number of factors (of which luck is only one), but I think Wiki has some estimates for a few if you are interested.
-
There, I think that is all of them. Thanks again :)
-
The area you are thinking of would most likely be Prifddinas - a high level skilling hub with great experience rates for skills like Mining, Smithing, Agility, Fishing, Thieving, and a slew of other skilling options. Unlocking that would be an obvious first thing to work towards, though I'm guessing you already have most of it. The requirement to get in is completion of the quest Plague's End, which requires the rest of the elf quest line and requires 75 in a bunch of skills, a requirement you already meet. This summer they released God Wars Dungeon II, otherwise known as The Heart, off in the middle of the desert by Uzer. There is an associated miniquest with it that I believe unlocks the ability to teleport there, which is a good shortcut. It contains four bosses that you can solo or team up with friends. Unlike the original GWD they are not quite a pushover and require a few tactics to kill, but I would say it's readily doable even in solo once you practice a bit. If you die, you can then teleport back and get stuff from your grave. There is also a solo-only, much more difficult boss in the center called Telos, which requires defeating all four of the generals and assembling a sigil from pieces dropped. Invention is essentially augmenting items and training them using divine energy as a power source. Then, you either siphon off the experience or destroy the item. To get started you should try the tutorial in the invention workshop north-east of Falador lodestone. After that you can use a couple of cheap items to level up a bit, like black salamanders, until you unlock siphoning at least. At that point you can augment better weapons and armor and train those up, and siphon as needed if you want to do something like PvM or higher level Slayer. Or, you can keep using black salamanders/other cheap alternatives and afk on hellhounds, dark beasts, etc...it's pretty much another Slayer skill but with training weapons. I'm not sure if that completely answers your question, but feel free to write back or pm me (Arceuus in game) and can try to help out.

I think that's "Democratic indoctrination camps" is a shitty phrase but I do feel a tinge of annoyance about having been forced to pay for a class that's required for graduation to hear someone go on about the pay gap or microaggressions and spread beliefs about these topics that don't align with the actual data because it fits a narrative they're trying to promote. I get it these professors are passionate about these topics but I think its absolutely scummy that at, at least my university it is a graduation requirement to take several of these classes, even as a transfer student. That is true, a major chunk of the liberal arts education requires are essentially funneling money over to those departments by forcing students to sit in those classes. They couldn't care less about what the instructor's actual viewpoints are. It exists to some extent, but not to the .7c to the dollar ratio that's thrown around. When you account for the fact that women tend to start working later, retire earlier, take more time off, are less likely to work overtime, and choose to work in lower-paying fields, the gap is more like .96-96 cents on the dollar (at least in western countries), which isn't statistically significant. As far universities being "democratic indoctrination camps", I agree that's pretty hyperbolic, but there's a lot of proof that universities in general are more left leaning than right. Sure but having an opinion or generally leaning a different way is quite different from implying that they are forcing that down everyone's throat. I would argue that it's not a coincidence either - I don't know how any educated person following recent news or politics can argue that they are doing anything productive these days.
