My suggested amendments: The year is 2050 as opposed to 2160, I think that based on the technology avaliable it would support this timeframe better. 2160 IS the far future and much of the technology described exists and only need implementation (Gauss rifles, Basic androids) and the things you described that have not yet reached a stage of implementation (Human-Machine interface, Magnetic Levitation) are likely to be coming a lot faster than 2160, especially with world peace. By 2050, Earth has made significant leaps in medical and computing technology. Head transplants have helped to aid massive leaps in medical technology. "The transplantation of a human head was conducted on 7th March 2019 after numerous animal trials. By 2023 the transplantations of heads has become extremely popular medically as the patients body no longer requires anesthesia and can 'die' multiple times without risk of brain-death. The use of head transplants has also given medical scientists an insight into the severing and reattachment of nerves by use of stem cells" Head transplant information "Relevent information to prove it is possible" Chemically induced suspended animation has allowed travel to planets outside of the solar system a possibility. While in suspended animation, humans theoretically will be able to last indefinetly. Genetic engineering has become commonplace, many of the worlds food comes from genetically engineered produce and meat. The ship relys on 'brainless animals' with maximised meat production for the purposes of efficiency. - achieved by breeeding.Genetically modified chicken - of course on the ship these are larger and they're born without a brain, their functions are controlled by CUI in 'The Farm' Rapid tissue growth has led to human cloning which allows 'revivement' of humans taking only around three hours providing a supercomputer has access to their data. The clone must be sedated to avoid pain from the extremely rapid growth so post revivement sickness (PRS) can occur, alternatively a person can choose not to undergo sedation and recieve a fear effect for the rest of the session. CUI is a modification of the current leading AI project, it is capable of independent thought and moral choice. CUI controls all aspects of the ship: Oxygen supply, Water recycling, Room management and such. CUI also controls the residents of the ship under three hardcoded directives in the order 1,2,3 1.) The mission to mars will be sucesssful. 2.) All information must be shared with crewmembers when asked. 3.) The crewmembers are above me in priority, my being is not important if it contradicts any of the crewmembers. CUI does not know of these. CUI is contained in the ships bridge (as previously said). Its character can be modified by a scientist, it can be given orders and tricked. Engineers can make changes however they are massive changes due to not having the subtletly a scientist has. A scientist can make both minor personality changes and modifications. An engineer can only make significant and obvious changes. A reset button is provided but this wipes all previously known data, the CUI loses all information from the mission. The reset button is encoded and is hard to use.

I said most, and in the cases of India, The Middle East, Africa and Latin America I am correct.

The Back Room
Although you say its economic profit, that is just your opinion. Most of the cases were actually labelled something else. And, regardless of their intent would have resulted in aid for the natives if the government hadn't fought back.

The Back Room
You misread me. The issue with countries helping other countries is usually, and in the examples you gave me because of the countries governments oppose being helped. Not because the people of the country would rather maintain their cultural heritage instead of being fed.
-
The Back Room
I'm not telling anybody how to live their life, I'm simply stating that because there are worse problems nobody cares about your insignificant ones. In the examples you listed, the problems occured because the members of the country being helped decided that thought they new better, when in fact because of their fighting against it they are now worse off than they would have been if they'd have just let to the other country help them.

I don't see how it isn't. It'll result in a lot less pain and death. -- Children dieing is sad, the post was made to make Leiana feel guilty for complaining about her own problems.

The Back Room
15 million children die of hunger in Africa every year, obviously this is a very sad. If they did get food (and shelter, and other things that constitute a better life) then my caring for them is completely irrelevent. Whether I care for them or not, they're still all having a pretty bad time. Leiana lives in a first world country with access to clean drinking water, good food, free education and a computer.

And you could add onto the end: 'And even moreso if they aren't actually in poverty' For consistency: the same amount that I donate to teenage angst charities.
-
The Back Room
Replaced for clarity. A valid point, isn't it terrible how people complain about their life when around 15 million children die of hunger every year. Should I post statistics for sex slavery and child abuse as well? Or have I illustrated the point enough.
-
The Back Room
I meant: stop complaining because 15 million children die of hunger every year.
-
The Back Room
You know that every year, 15 million children die of hunger.

[Steam] Kerbal Space Program - Update 0.22: Career Mode!
I haven't played for a long time, long before they introduced the docking stations and such. Anyway, I've found that its almost impossible to actually get to space without mods. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0 They add new, mostly balanced items.

The Back Room
Just read some and I'm pretty sure that those sorts of things shouldn't be discussed on this forum. Its not pornographic per se from what I saw but the young girls are very scantily dressed. Even so, its better if you talk about it here or even here where the majority of people are actually interested. -- [hide][/hide]

Yes, but what I don't understand is that people who like anime seem to like all anime. I find it very hard to believe that every single anime has a good storyline, infact from what I've seen only a few seem to have what I would classify as a good storyline and of course this is the same with animation as well. I like Star Trek: TNG, The Big Bang Theory, Reaper, Russell Howard's show. All live-action things, but I can't stand others. With anime people seem to love pretty much all anime regardless of the story or animation, just because its anime.

The Back Room
I don't really understand the appeal of manga/anime. Apart from the art-style it seems pretty much the same as other forms of media. People always say 'I like anime' but you never hear people say 'I like live-action', people often don't like ALL like action but it seems different with anime.

Real men treat women to what they deserve, which is respect, kindness and faithfulness. I've gone with just treating everybody with respect, kindness and faithfulness, regardless of their gender and based on how well I feel that they deserve it. But of course if you feel that we should start treat people differently based on their gender, why not continue by treating people differently based on their race and sexuality!

Maybe he just wants to be in a relationship? I don't see anything wrong with that. Yes, but it also implies that men who aren't in relationships aren't real men. I mean, is Oscar Wilde not a real man? Ghandi? Issac Newton? Tesla? And I'm sure there are more people. -- Even so, the label of a 'real man' being in a relationship is just stupid and its even more stupid to imply that 'real men' are angsty teenagers who wear black and wear skinny jeans because those are the only other people who discuss love in such a serious and commercialised way. To classify a real man would be impossible because its subjective but sometimes things are so far from the truth that they're just untrue in the way a person could easily argue that bread is the worlds favourite food but would never be able to back it up, a person could never claim mud was most enjoyed by people because they just know its not true. Love is just a human construct which is frankly quite stupid, and the way you talk about it is even more stupid. People can love one another but you speak of it as if its a magical bond in which one person shares their humanity with another being and rainbows appear and birds sing, a human construct isn't like that so it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Nobody really loves each other absoloutely and people need to learn to get a grip on reality and realise that its better to get into a relationship with somebody who you know you will have a secure, steady and beneficial relationship with instead of just because of this mad crazy love that causes you to choose people who frankly are stupid to choose, unless of course you fall in love with a perfectly sane doctor with rich parents - but like thats going to happen.

KONY 2012
I think basically, internet groups love to be against something; for example, most of the internet hate twilight. Hating something as a group seems to be of massive interest to the internet; because liking something together normally never works because people don't like things equally but hate can just be magnified and magnified on the internet beyond recognition because of positive reinforcement and group mentality. Of course Kony isn't a massive evil (like twilight) because their are holes in the hate and there wasn't time for people to hate it enough. It just shows how hollow the internet is, a perfect example is my little pony and twilight. Because of positive reinforcement and aggressive internet arguing, twilight is made out to be absoloutely terrible while MLP is absoloutely popular as anything. Problem with Kony is that he's a factual person and peoples opinions hold no stead in these sorts o f internet hate campaigns.

To be honest, the way you describe Love, Mather is just the typical commercialised limerance that the coorporations want us to believe.
