  1. Yes, but I don't think you they should punish you for your personal opinion said in your personal life at a third party site or location.
  2. Maybe we should get 20 or so people to all wear the same thing and stand outside their new offices chopping at a tree?
  3. BTW, whatever happened to the Zarosian guys having animal things? Sliske with the snake, Akthanakos with the camel head, and Azzy had that jackal headress on. Why not have had Lucien forced Movario to revive Hazeel? Then he could've been there for everyone. How did Lucien know Jhallan was down there? Not adequately explained.
  4. This is valid, but consider this: 1) In your scene, Jibby would've said they are undeserving of your business, he never said to go to another store. 2) The boss didn't catch him saying it at the store. He caught him saying it at a Blockbuster video. (youtube)
  5. Yeah, they totally slandered him with their facts, objective government records, logic, openess, and local newspaper stories...
  6. It may not seem vast when you're talking about number of registered users, but when you consider the amount of effort these guys put out, it's quite impressive that they got a gold rank to begin with. From the little I've read on their forums, they seem to be a nice bunch of people who put a lot work and dedication in making sure their community stays relatively stable, even after the fact has been known. They're working hard to move on. You gotta give them some credit for that. Guys, let's please keep it civil okay? Again, please do not bash Runevillage as we wish to maintain a positive relationship with them and any other RuneScape fansite community. :) Oh quite. I tease, but the forum users there are quite a hardworking little bunch. I always differentiate between RV(good) and Hiker(creep). Henner is a really good guy too.
  7. Right...I don't think I've mentioned much about speculation, although there's plenty in the other pages that do. I avoided, for the most part, discussing Hiker and whether or not what he did was legal/illegal/moral/immoral/etc, simply because it's too easy for people who are very emotional about this thing to just beat the crap out of the catalyst instead of discussing the repercussions. I'm not saying he deserved to be flamed to Hell and back on this thread. In fact, I think that it wasn't necessary - he's a non-factor in the fansite, and he's no longer managing Runevillage either to the best of my understanding. He's had a run-in with the law and he has, for the most part, served his time. He's got that label on him that won't ever go away, no matter how you try to reason, no matter how you try to plea, no matter how you try and change. That's enough flame to keep a man warm for centuries. Adding more to the fire is pointless. Right. I'm done taking this off-topic. *steers back on course* Actually, I kinda think we are on-topic. :) There is more to the story now. I'm think given how Jagex went back and burned their bridge with RV, maybe their was an issue over something that got a litle personal. Maybe Jagex just decided to be tools about it. I don't know. I still have to say it's pretty safe that he did something illegal and in my opinion, something very immoral. And I said speculation because most of the flaming of him was based on things that are pretty much based in fact. And because that, I think he deserves it.
  8. It is very hard to walk away from things you have a strong emotional attachment to, be it friends you've made, work you've done, etc. And I'll tell you that from experience, it's that sort of attitude that shatters a community with uncertainty, panic, and stonewalls it; it's really very hard to deal with. I've only ever had to experience it from a clan's standpoint. I can't imagine how much stronger those feelings would be with such a vast community and project (in comparison to the size of the typical clan.) Vast community? I thought we were talking about Runevillage? And Makato, Hiker deserved to be shredded. As far as I can tell, what has come out is things he has done. Haven't seen too much "speculation." Jagex too. Maybe they changed their minds after? Maybe what happened between the two led to an arugment and Jagex told them to take a hike? We don't know.
  9. You'll have to forgive me if I've misinterpreted your post, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. You're not speaking of the community that chooses to remain there, are you? My post wasn't critical of their forum users in any serious manner. I do find it a bit odd though that some people would stay in a community that was dwindling and clearly dying out. I'd think people would leave for greener pastures. That is more of a side issue though unrelated to this whole thing. And Magic, it's all very hard now to be objective. One side is Jagex and the other a fansite that feels burned by Jagex. I don't think I can take either side at their word. A) Because I think Jagex is very dishonest. B) I can see how a scorned fansite could miscontrue things to make Jagex look bad. It sucks. Sorry RV forums. If there was ever time to bail though... :-#
  10. The devil's in the details, but what I gleaned from that post (before they locked their forums down, apparently) - Jagex had mentioned to them that they'd work with the site's new admins after Hiker was removed, but then Jagex came back and permanently ended their ties with the fansite. Even though it's still a he-said she-said sort of scenario that plays out from here, there is an obvious lost of trust between RV and Jagex. So I'd say it's kind of tough to get back in the community's good graces. They were still around 7 years ago, back when the fansite "wars" were still happenin'. IIRC, they were one of the few that had concept art (not official of course) for RS2. People stay at sites because they like the atmosphere. If they loved it over there at RV, then who are we to say where they should or shouldn't be? Well, in the he-said/she-said scenario it's pretty tough. Take the word of a company who's judgement you no longer trust or the guy convicted of posessing and sending child porn.
  11. I'll just re-iterate a point: Jagex could have handled this a lot better than they did. I'm not defending the owner of RV in terms of what he's done, but Jagex really made a bone-headed move here. Then again, this is Jagex we're referring to here. I don't think they did. If they kept it quiet, people would've railed against them for their secrecy and persecution of RV. They knew that. Given the morally reprehensible actions too I think they decided they shouldn't have borne the brunt on this. It's public information. They were honest. If Hiker didn't want to be shamed maybe he shouldn't have had child pornography? :shame: ...But at what cost? Here you have a community who had nothing to do with this man thrown to the wolves in the same motion that the actual perpetrator is. Had Jagex quietly negotiated with the fansite about this whole matter, and allowed Hiker to disappear without airing his dirty laundry, then I doubt any of us would have cared. Hiker has been punished according to the law, and the past really came back to bite him this time. However, the fansite was caught up in all of this, and that's the real victim of this situation. Agreed. I feel very bad for their community. Unfortunately the guy wasn't just an admin, but the owner and operator of the site. Also given how they decided that even now with him gone RV couldn't ever get back their Gold status, it's unlikely that they'd ever have worked it out with them. They decided to publicly cut all ties with him and their site. And honestly, what in the world were those people doing staying at RV?

  13. The BTS listed some skill reqs. Agility, Crafting and something else.
  14. I looked at some of the comments on this photo on FB. God how many people on there are not only stupid, but also pay no attention to the BTS or anything.
  15. I go by a different moral rule of judgements. "Judge, and be prepared to be judged." But yeah, let's denounce the evil Jagex and defend the guy with child pornography.
  16. I do not take any cues from my government. Neither moral, logical, political, financially, or anything. Why do you keep pushing that because the government doesn't feel one way we must feel the same? Why do you think that the government is the end all, be all on these things? They have a very limited responsibility. They run the legal procedings for a violation of the law. That's it. Jeez. <_< Frankly I find your seemingly unquestioning faith in government strange. You seem to substitute their judgement for your own. That's just wrong. :-|
  17. This week was already a no update week. :P I consider patch notes an update. And there was some potion thing I think.
  18. I think it's Mos'Le Harmless by the looks of it, and since it's known that the quest will take a part there. And nobody ever comes there, so they're safe. It would be great if during the meeting a baby impling flies by and someone tries to catch it and they kill him.
  19. Could you explain to me in the legislation at hand, where it says he cannot run a fan site for a game which may have or may not have kids involved? I'm not in the US so I don't know the law there like I do here. Generally, people who are convicted of crimes that would require registration as a sex offender come with restrictions relative to their crimes. The most common of which are things like being prevented from working around children (like in a school), volunteering for groups that work with children (Boy Scouts/Girl Guides, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, etc...), not living within a certain distance of school or playground...that kind of thing. Considering one of the things he was convicted of was distribution of pornographic pictures of minors, I'm sure he has similar restrictions placed upon him. While starting up a fansite for a game aimed at minors might not be technically violating any of his restrictions, I'm sure it easily falls into a grey area that a man of his age should have known well enough to avoid. Especially if he is simply trying to put such things behind him and move on with his life as a law abiding citizen (a commendable course that we should all be supportive of). Edit: I just realized he may have restrictions against him forbidding him from initiating contact with minors, or communicating with minors who are not family over the internet (not unreasonable considering he distributed the offensive pictures via email). If so, then starting up the fansite would easily fall under the list of things he shouldn't be doing. Keep in mind while I write this, that we'll never be in full possession of the facts concerning this case, as per Hiker's words. I only comment with absolute certainty on what I know to be true. I speculate on the basis of what I know to be valid assumptions. The Facts: Hiker started RuneVillage in 2002. He was convicted on obscenity charges concerning the distribution of child pornography in 1995; at this time, Georgia's pornography distribution laws did not require registration of the offender because they were classified as obscenity offenses rather than sexual offenses. He moved to Tennessee in 2000, and in 2003 at the latest, TN changed its pornography distribution laws to constitute a sexual offense, requiring him to register as a sex offender. He was arrested on a warrant in 2005 for 'failing to register' as an offender although he was not legally required to register at the time he left; nor did he know that the laws concerning this had changed. Because of this, the charges were initially dropped. I'm only chiming in to comment on this. If TN changed it's laws, the Constitution clearly states that there should be no retroactive punishment by virtue of the fact no governing body is allowed to pass ex post facto laws. So why did they force him to register, when it's clearly unconstitutional? I'm referring to how it was an obscenity charge, and they changed it retroactively. In this case, I could see where he shouldn't have been arrested, but could still have been put in the list. I can also see why he should've been grandfathered in. Again though, don't feel bad about it since he's clearly a creep.
  20. Okay, Dragonkin hiding for thousands and years of they decide to hold a conference on Karamaja where anyone can see them?
  21. I've known you since Classic, lol. You can shrug off the individual things they do, but over time it begins to feel like a gradual change of belief structure which makes me, for one, rather nervous.
  22. He has certainly worked very hard :). Sorry, when I checked the place out he had a female avatar of some type. My mistake.
  23. Squab, I wasn't quick to judge him. I took the time to read and get all the information I could about the topic. With all the information I was able to view, I judge him as a creep. He is a shady, shady person. Hell, nothing wrong with being a sexual deviant, as long as it is all between consenting adults. When you bring in minor, you are bring in something that will screw your life up forever and you deserve everything that comes to you.
  24. Who cares, it's not the law or government, it's Jagex. They can do any policy they want and will. They don't want to deal with someone who's done this. And like I said, why should they keep quiet and take a hit for someone who is clearly, IMO, a slimeball and creep? Tell people why you terminated the relationship and be done with it. And pulli, just because someone has been released doesn't mean they are normal, rehabilitated or anything. Based on the sentence from a judge the jail can only keep you for so long. They can't hold you ijust because they think you'll do it again.
  25. When you are involved in child pornography, that is gonna stay with you. Forever. And it should. IMO. :ugeek: But the last thing does seem to be an legal lapse. Those things happen. I don't have issue with that. I do feel bad for the forums though. Especially Henner. She's worked her butt off for years over there.
