  1. JAMjE, I'm not so certain the price of the masks will rise dramatically in the short-term, and the gold will come in handy for leveling some of my lower skills (like construction, prayer and herblore) or for buying equipment and potions. I'm going to look into fletching broad bolts; thanks for that suggestion. The last few sessions haven't been very long or thrilling, so this is a very short update. I used the Jack of Trades aura to level farming (53) and herblore (53), and played the Head-To-Head event in the Games three days, resulting in two agility levels (63 and 64). Anyone not taking advantage of the experience to be gained there...well, they're just being silly. I fletched for a time, I alched 600 yew longbows to get my gold pile over 10 million, and I hung out by a bonfire for awhile, resulting in 17 charms awarded to me from grateful fire spirits. From the inception of this blog, I have now earned exactly two thirds of the levels needed to get to 2,000 total. I wish it were two thirds of the time needed. Honestly, though, I would not have predicted that I would have reached this mark so quickly. 333 to go. Total levels = 1,667
  2. One can only suspect that different designers worked on Head-To-Head and Cheese Wheel Rolling. When they were both submitted as final, one got congratulatory pats on the back for an interesting and different mini-game, and the other got an "oh jeez, we can't wait any longer".
  3. Catherby is decent as well - the bank is right next door to a house with a range. If you're fishing for your food, this is a good site because the fishing plots are close by.
  4. Those fungal magi are one of my least-favorite tasks. They seem to last forever. I've found that getting right up next to them actually caused me to take less damage than attacking them from a distance. Since you mentioned agility, if you haven't already, absolutely do the Head-To-Head game in the Games. There's a portal to it at the town square in Varrock. It's 20K of agility experience daily, earned in less than 15 minutes.
  5. Thanks, Fredrow! Glad to see new faces here in Blogscape. I checked out your blog as well. Yesterday was a very interesting day. It began in Varrock, where I took part in all three of the Games events. Head-to-head is my favorite as it provides excellent agility experience in a short time. The 20K+ that I earned resulted in an agility level (62). I followed that up with the Resource Race, earning another 4K farming experience. Last, I tried the Cheese Rolling game. It's quite stupid and frustrating. I gave up after earning just 1,000 defense experience, and may not ever visit it again. Unless I feel like a little self-flagellation is in order, of course, which is always a possibility. After completion of those events, I strolled to the Thieves' Guild (yes, I actually walked somewhere) and picked up my hanky points for the week. I hardly ever remember to do this, and it's always a few thousand thieving experience points. I spent about ten additional minutes there, stealing my quota of hankies and picking a few locks, which got me to level 64 in thieving. I spent a whole lot of time fletching yesterday, earning a hair over 200K experience in that skill and reaching level 92: [spoiler=Halfway To 99, But Feels Like A Lifetime] That picture looks more like I'm about to light a firework than whittle a log. Yesterday happened to be my clan's first anniversary, so leadership put on a day long celebration, with multiple events such as battles, an organized walk through the lands, and some drop parties. I showed up for the final drop party of the evening, which took place in the Falador party room: [spoiler=Drop It Like It's Hot] This was the first drop party I've ever attended, and it was actually enjoyable. I popped a lot of balloons, and came away with slightly more than a million coins worth of loot, including 416 noted adamant bars and 11 kegs of beer. Supposedly 50 million coins worth of loot was dropped in total, so I got my share. I just missed out on some torstol seeds, which would have been cool. To wrap up the evening, a fellow clan member was asking if any of us had a fish mask we would be interested in selling. Having seen the street price about a month ago of just a couple million, I hadn't been looking to sell the item any time soon. However, the G.E. price last night was nearly six million (!) and the clan member offered me 6.8 million, so I jumped (like a salmon returning home) at the offer. Once I fletch and sell/alch all of the yew logs in my inventory, I should have more than 12 million coins in my trusty pouch. That's twice as much as I've ever had before. I'm rich, beotch!* *yes, I realize that 12 million coins in no way makes me rich or even well-off, but it feels like immense wealth to me, so just let me wallow in my delusions. Thank you. Total levels = 1,663
  6. Thanks for the bump, Sydan. Thanks also for the advice on wearing dragonhide while using protection prayers. While I like using the prayer potions, I burn through them quickly and they're expensive for someone with my level of gold. I'm playing around with the idea of clicking the prayer on and off during a battle, and particularly at the end of a battle before I engage the next mob. There was a death in my extended family so my time on-line over the past week was limited. Here's a summary of what I was able to accomplish since the last post: - Used the Jack of Trades aura a few times, leveling farming to 52 and gaining experience in herblore. - Assisted Oomad Arrow with final preparations for the Games, although I was not impressed by the experience rates. - Purchased 7,500 yew logs and bow strings, as I was running very low on each. I then fletched 1,400 unfinished longbows. - Spent time Tuesday night maxing in the clan citadel. I used the fealty cape bonus on herblore, and the Mad Necklace at the summoning plot. I also trained crafting enough to level to 81, and then spent the rest of my time there at the smithing and mining plots. - Used the clan ring bonus experience on woodcurring, chopped a lot of ivy and leveled that skill to 96: [spoiler=Three More To Go] This is the level of my statistical geekiness: to reach 1,800 total levels, I've set level goals in every skill, and track the amount of experience remaining to reach that goal. As of now, to reach my level goals in woodcutting (99) and fletching (96), I need 3,341,000 experience in each skill. Purely unintentional, and that particular number has no significance, but it is odd that it is the same for both. Right, then...back to normalcy. - Noticed that I gained a significant number of ranks in all of my skills, clear evidence of a mass banning. - Took part in the Games; specifically, the Head to Head race and the Resource Race. The head to head is short and sweet, and pays off handsomely with agility experience. I earned more than 20K in about 10 minutes, without having to worry about getting PK'd. I spent the time harvesting black herbs in the Resource Race event, earning more than 4,500 farming experience in 15 minutes. Both were a nice diversion from the normal grind, and I'll be playing each frequently throughout the remainder of the Games. I haven't tried the Cheese Wheel yet, although it's on my list. I probably won't take part in any of the Marathon races. Here's a snapshot of my prowess in the Resource Race: [spoiler=The Adoring Crowds Cheer My Name] Total levels = 1,660
  7. Low_Levelled, glad my posts are generating a laugh or two. JAMjE, the tier level of the citadel is the primary reason I'm in this clan. The leadership is solid, but there are a ton of immature clan members, and that really comes out in the clan chat. It seems to me that the clan chat could be so much more valuable, as a resource for information and as a way to get to know fellow players, and we're just not taking advantage of that. I started my most recent session by clicking on Solomon's Store, as a dialog box popped up in the middle of my screen upon log-in. I used the 200 free runecoins to purchase the lumberjack animation. Wow, with the 10% member discount I can just afford it. I wonder if that was intentional? Hmmm... The animation is interesting, but unfortunately it does not show when chopping ivy, just on actual trees. Since you all know that ivy is probably my closest friend on Runescape, this is mildly frustrating. At least I didn't use any real money to purchase it. I spent my playing time yesterday working through two slayer tasks: 62 moss giants and 91 jellies. For the moss giants, I ranged them in the Edgeville Dungeon from the safe spots, and collected 24 charms and a dragon spear which dropped thanks to my Ring of Wealth. Thanks, Ring of Wealth! For the jellies, I kept the dragon hide equipment, switched to my abyssal whip and dragon defender, and used prayer potions (against melee) and super strength potions, along with a handful of sharks, to make it through the entire task in one trip. These are so much better now that I have some idea of what I'm doing. I collected 38 charms from these creatures. The most interesting part of the second task, however, was the announcement that the 200,000,000th account had just been created on Runescape. I was quick enough to grab a screenshot: [spoiler=One More Player, And One Less Jelly] Since I'm not interested in the glasses or the boogie bow, that picture will serve as my memento of this historic occasion. Just think, if I hadn't started playing last year, that milestone wouldn't have occurred for another half of a second. You're welcome, Runescape. Total levels = see last post (1,657 if you're too lazy)
  8. I was interested in looking over the timeline, but that page lagged terribly for me this afternoon so I'll plan to come back (maybe). The stats page was interesting and had a nice layout, but I am having trouble believing the one that states on average 150 dragons are killed every day by each player. I don't have any interest in the goggles or the bow. I was on-line for the milestone and captured a nice screenshot of the announcement, so that's the only 'keepsake' I need.
  9. Tuesday - Official Clan Citadel Skilling Day That should be the banner every time I describe a Tuesday playing session. I started off on the SoF, getting a small experience lamp which I used to level summoning to 52. I'm looking forward to using my gold charms on spirit terrorbird pouches. That also raised my overall combat level to 92. I feel so much more powerful now. I entered the citadel and used my clan fealty bonus on herblore, reaching level 52 in that skill. Teleporting to the obelisk, I put on my Mad Necklace and trained summoning until reaching the 270-resource cap. I spent a little time mining, and then switched back and forth between firemaking (for charcoal) and smithing (using the charcoal I created). I used the Mad Necklace again while smithing, and leveled that skill to 64. This leaves me with 48% of the bonus experience remaining on the necklace (about 120K), which I plan to use on prayer at some point. After leveling smithing, I maxed for the week at the loom, earning about 100K crafting experience. I then got the clan ring, charged it at the woodcutting plot (the only time I visit that plot, by the way), and used it while chopping ivy. For a nice change of pace, there were a couple of friendly choppers at the southern wall of Falador, so we engaged in some interesting conversation for an hour that seemed to go by much more quickly than that. At one point, one of the players starting using the customization feature that was just added to the game, and a dressing room materialized out of thin air around her character: [spoiler=Maximum of Seven Items, Please] I will now conclude my post with an update of my total levels. Total levels = 1,657
  10. Grats on 1,700 total levels! You're leveling very quickly.
  11. Grats on getting that hat. I tend to wear it around the world when I'm skilling.
  12. Leveling four different skills in a single day is not that common for me any longer, but I achieved it yesterday in a fairly lengthy session (by my standards). I spent the majority of the session at a bonfire in the Grand Exchange in World 86. The level of discourse once again left much to be desired. Insults flowing back and forth were interrupted by cries to play various gambling games, primarily involving flowers. Various singers and bands were either built up or shot down. Suffice to say that Carly Rae Jepsen arguments were not distracting me from the mission at hand, which was to level cooking. With 1,000 raw lobsters in the bank, I set to it, and reached level 80: [spoiler=Leveling Picture S**t-Bombed] Neither one of those comments came from me. And what's with that skull in the bonfire? With that, cooking became my fifth skill to reach level 80 and two million experience. I cooked a few more inventories of lobsters, and then switched to burning maples. I spent about an hour adding to the bonfires, and leveled firemaking to 82. I lost count but my notes say I released 'a ton' of fire spirits in that time frame, so I ended up with a significant amount of charms as reward. Standing in basically one place for that long made me antsy for some combat, so I suited up and headed to the Warrior Guild for my slayer task of 104 cyclopes. I played each of the mini-games until I had at least 300 points in each, and then entered the fray with super strength potions and prayer potions to use on protection against melee. There is an amazing difference between fighting without potions and prayer protection, and with them both. I'm sure that you all know that already, but for me this is a fairly new discovery. Even the level 156 Cyclossus was not very difficult, and I earned 350 slayer experience and a cyclopean helmet for defeating it. The task resulted in a slayer level (58), a defense level (67), more than 200 big bones, and five more dragon defenders. I know these things are worthless after the first two (always good to have a spare), but I just am unable to leave them on the ground untouched. So...I now have eight of them in the bank. My next task is 62 moss giants, but I called it a day after cleaning my dragon boots of the cyclopes' remains. Total levels = 1,654
  13. Thanks, What is this madness (nice name, by the way)! Not much to report in this update. Here's a summary of what I've been doing: - I helped Oomad Aarow with Gielenor Games preparations a few times: [spoiler=Olympic Fever, Or Just A Head Cold?] I made gold medals, steel girders, and various types of pies, earning a small amount of experience and a bunch of contribution points. I must have glossed over the explanation of those points, since I don't know how they can be used. - I chopped a fair amount of ivy while reading World Series of Poker Main Event updates. I don't remember if I mentioned in this blog how much I enjoy playing poker. I really enjoy playing poker. There, now I've mentioned it. I was fortunate with the chopping as one of the bird nests had a yew seed (the second I've received in a week). 70K is still a significant amount to me. - I fletched and strung the last of my yew logs (about 2,000), and then alched about 1,150 of them, resulting in level 71 magic. - The alching, combined with selling nests and seeds in my possession, resulted in a new personal high in gold - 6.8 million. Yes, I know most high-level players have that much behind their seat cushions, but hey, it makes me feel rich. - I joined the bonfire crew at the Grand Exchange on world 86, alternating between lighting maples and cooking lobsters. The level of conversation was stunningly disappointing. Total levels = 1,650
  14. You're not writing to yourself. In fact, your writing style is making RuneScape Classic actually look interesting. Nice accomplishment!
  15. Wait just a second! There's a beta version of Runescape?
  16. I need to get focused and do the quests allowing me to have my own kingdom. That's such nice money.
  17. The loom is my favorite place to skill in the citadel. At level 80 I get about 233 exp per click, but that's with rank 3 fealty and the highest-tier plot. It is boring, though. Grats on 20 million thieving!
  18. Thanks, Ezee, for checking in! I spent the past couple of sessions skilling: Monday - chopped some yew trees, fletched the logs into longbows, strung them, and then alched them. I think this is a bit of a money-loser, but I don't remember the price I purchased the nature runes. Worst-case scenario, it was cheap magic experience. I alched enough of them (about 550) to level magic to 70: [spoiler=You Have To Believe, I Am Magic] Wow! Now I can group teleport to Moonclan Island! I have no idea what that means. Tuesday - if you read this blog with any regularity, you should know that a Tuesday session most likely includes skilling in the clan citadel. Yesterday was no exception. I started at the summoning plot, getting the maximum available experience there that the game allows (and I remembered to wear the Mad Necklace). Next, I spent time crafting, getting to level 80 and passing two million experience in that skill: [spoiler=Fourth Level 80+ Skill] I finished maxing for the week at the barbeque, leveling cooking to 79 with only a few resources to spare. I then charged my clan ring at the woodcutting plot, and spent time chopping ivy until the ring crumbled into dust. I got a couple bird's nests, and one had a yew seed. I was surprised to see that they're worth more than 70K. I also reached 30 million total experience, but forgot to grab a screen capture, so we'll pretend that isn't any sort of milestone. Total levels = 1,649
  19. That's the first level 99 pic I've seen with a reference to the bathroom. I assume you wanted to make sure you didn't pee yourself in excitement. Best of luck in reaching 2,496! I'll be following.
  20. Enjoy your break, and we'll look forward to hearing from you when you return!
  21. I use Photobucket for all of my RS pictures. Nice work getting thieving to 60 - sorry about your death and the loss of your wicked gear. I've lost the wicked bottoms once already due to death.
