  1. Hi, I'm currently at the place after the Hook and I am running low on Bamboo/Gunpowder (especially Bamboo). How can I get more of it besides doing lowest tier voyages? Also, is it possible for me to get 10k or 35k chime captains yet? Again, I'm at The Hook. Any additional advice is also welcomed.
  2. Inb4 rainbow "Final Boss" title requiring prestige 100 in every pet including Vital is.
  3. I completely agree with you. I still believe the times before gravestones existed were the best times. You had your two minutes and after that it was game over. I recently happened to read a bunch of nostalgic comments on a runescape video, there were so many people talking about their first time they died with all of their stuff at the mages south of varroc and how they learned a valuable lesson from that. They wouldn't have it any other way...To counter the disconnections problem, perhaps make a system that force logs you out or teleports you to a safe area when the connection is lost. Don't they already check if you are still connected every 5 seconds or so? Shouldn't be too hard to implement if that was the case. While I remember the good stuff about dying (also picking up loot from other players), there are also a lot of ragequit moments, which seems to be forgotten. I remember dying with an (for me) expensive armor at godwards and at contact when it came out... we mostly remember the good stuff when thinking back, we rarely remember the bad stuff. I personally think the systems should be combined. You have a short timer (2 minutes seems short? not sure) and after that you can buy your stuff back if you want to. That seems like a good compromis to me, and makes death more a penalty than it is now. Well, you shouldn't take something worth millions to a place you can get easily killed. That's just common sense. I think the point of expensive armor is so that you'd be able to survive better in dangerous places. I wouldn't bring rune armor to gwd, for example. Also @kaur, two minutes is fairly short as most aces will take that long or slightly less. When I died at hill giants in edgeville dungeon, I spent a good minute or two to get it back. Not to mention that most of the time, people have other distractions or are not 100% in he game. Even if two minutes were long in your opinion essiw said that the two minutes is up for consideration, so I'm not quite sure why you mentioned that.
  4. I think it would be more constructive to provide comments and talk about the topic instead of patronizing name calling ("casual" obviously is not normally patronizing but it is in this context). In addition, I think I disagree fundamentally with you on the definition of a casual game. According to you, maxed players can still be casual, whereas I think anyone who has gotten 99 in all skills is not, by any stretch of the word, "casual." I'd be interested to see what I and other even lower levels are in your eyes. But as long as we have this disagreement, we won't be able to come to an agreement so...oh well. Also, you made a comment about "who can't kill gwd/mole" or something to that extent. While it may be difficult as a maxed/comp player (correct me if I'm wrong, but I just got this vibe that you're maxed) to see god wars dungeon or mole or kbd as a formidable foe, I think it is necessary to remember the combat 3-70 or even 80 players, the future of runescape, and how they see these bosses. I get that in the spur of the moment, that might have flown out, but it's still important to keep low levels in mind. Finally, I can attest to not being able to do Death's challenges very well. I kept getting Jad, Zamorak gwd, and other high level bosses that I can't remember because I know I can't do them (believe it or not). The only bosses I can kill are barrows, kbd, mole, and chaos elemental (and one kill a run at qbd so that's not worth it). Being combat 121 (prayer and summoning contributed quite a few levels), I kept getting what I consider high level bosses, so I gave up on Death's tasks. My advice is join to an Tip.It FC (FSC, HYT) and ask if anyone wants to go GWD with you. (Not that you asked for advice, but...) I don't like the idea of guaranteed drops, simply because I've been one of those people who has gotten something extremely rare early on. (Triple barrows drop back in 05/06 after like a hundred runs.) I do however, support the idea that those who invest time into something should be rewarded. For example, progressively better (even if slightly) rewards at Araxxi based upon enraged levels. Not enough to crash a market, but enough for Jagex to say "yeah, that fight was hard. Here's 175 onyx bolts." Currently: "yeah, that fight was hard. Here's 600 yews and 5 rocktails." I speak to the same about pets. I don't like the idea of guaranteed (unless they could be purchased, etc.) - but I do like the idea of a near guaranteed threshold system. You kill 1k QBD or whatever, and you'll get the pet by kill 1020, or maybe 1100 at the most. Sure, that still leaves a window open to never get the pet. But chance inspires opportunity, which inspires adventure. If everything is nailed into place, you'll find its hard to breathe, as the coffin is slowly lowered into the ground, gameplay wise. I don't really care much for gwd, and also, I've been told to get death's challenges as solo activities, and so I can't do gwd as a team (not that I would ever want to :P). I'm not bitter about not being able to do most bosses, because I don't really care, but I speak because I know other people who would love to do Death's challenges but can't really.
  5. Honestly, the nonexistent scaling they proposed is kind of a joke in itself. 200m GE in gear has a ~1m penalty? That's hardly even an inconvenience for someone of my means, let alone an endgame player. It's such a good value that I'd actually be worried about having cheated them. Meanwhile, someone wearing a tenth of that pays... 300k. So we have a gold sink that basically does nothing to players with money and costs a fairly disproportionate amount for lower levels... Yeah, that seems entirely reasonable and not at all counterproductive. And these are the examples they picked to show us that they knew what they were doing :vThat's what I was thinking too. Except ironically the largest complainers ARE those who should have a ton of money and who already have expensive armors ("jagex, ur killing pvm! Why have so expensive repairs! Now I don't want to bring my expensive armor because I have to pay <1% of GE value to get it back if I die"). From what I have seen, someone with a gwd set will require a payment of 500-600k which is...rather inconvenient. I'm not sure why Jagex didn't release prices for gwd armor as a good portion of people use that as their primary armor. In other words, 100m-->1m return fee and 15m-->500-600k return fee. I don't know if that is fair, but it seems like people are complaining about return fees for end game (or what I would consider end game) without even considering the return fees for lower level armors like barrows and gwd.

  7. Say you have a 5 man team and get 5 kills per hour, with one of them being your kill. On average you'd need to spend 5000 hours. You tell me how many years that would take you ;)I'm just curious...would you spend 5000 hours on Runescape...for a title? That's over half a year of continuous play. I guess my definition of realistic is different than yours X D.
  8. Maybe a main-hand and off-hand heart launcher (crossbow/off-hand crossbow) with scalable levels? Otherwise, going to be another lousy TH promotion that creates more stuff to be placed with Diango. I'll probably be able to get the past 7 years of Valentines Day promotional items, too :P. EDIT: Apparently they're Imakuni Imcando pistols.
  9. We're talking about Runescape playes...not people on collegeconfidential.com lol. Also, I think this is better than gravestones simply because now I'm actually trying not to die. Before, sometimes I would let myself die out of convenience, like when at waterfiends (yes, I'm a noob, I still die at waterfiends). I could die, respawn (and heal) at Yanille, and go back to Ancient Caverns fully prepared. Saves me a bit of time banking. I just feel like dying has become...obsolete, without any penalties. Granted, this may not be the perfect solution, but I think it's better than the no-loss-except-for-disconnects situation currently.
  10. I refer you to my original post:
  11. Vis Wax fc could do with a legal autotyper. Same goes with portables fc and altars friends chat locations. Perhaps Jagex could limit broadcasting autotyping to certain areas, like friends chats or clan chats? Also, huge support for boosted exp bonus in the citadel because it is totally not worth it, minus summoning. A huge support also goes out to filtering broadcast messages to friends or clan only because as Arceus said, I could not care less about random people's comp capes or maxed accounts etc., etc..
  12. I hate this quest. IMO worse than mourning's end part 2 (which I liked). The puzzle isn't even hard. It is just annoying and the interface is terribad. And the rewards...17k total experience, 50 coal, and useless armor? At least Mourning's end part 2 had a good worthwhile reward. Hopefully if/when Elemental Sweatshop 5 comes out, there are better rewards (of course I'm not expecting prifddinas sized rewards--maybe like 50k smithing exp or something. Anything is better than what ew3 gives.).
  13. I think I consider myself a quester, but I would hate to redo every single quest...especially for some difference on the quest cape. Also, I hardly can find time to complete all the times once (I haven't even done that yet) that I can't imagine redoing each quest over and over. Maybe there could be a trimmed quest cape that has additional requirements, but to redo every quest? I don't know if I can support that.
  14. Sorry if this is common knowledge by now, but when are the new quests coming out? Also, kudos to Jagex for trying to fix the oversupply of whips and dark bows.
  15. In that case there is nothing holding me back from doing the quests. Kill 'em, crush 'em, eat 'em raw!
  16. "I honestly don't see how this is worth complaining about." Well, this is the rants thread. If I thought people were actually going to support me, I'd put it in suggestions. "RuneScape is not a PC or a console game that remains the same for eternity. RuneScape is an online RPG, which is supposed to change all the time. I know it's tough to get used to changes, but you have to deal with it." I feel like you're implying that I can't handle change. Quite the contrary, most of the updates I agree with and like, especially when you dig into the patch notes. If I couldn't handle change, I wouldn't be playing RS3 and would be on 07scape or RSC because the combat change is wayyyyy bigger than any graphical change. In fact, I would want towns to be updated grapically...if they worked on making the graphics themselves better, not change the entire style of the town.
  17. I for one think lumbridge got updated in a bad way. The crater makes lumbridge really ugly. I was hoping that the snow would melt and the crater would become a lake but... Al kharid is okay, but IMO prifddinas was not done well. It's too organized as a city, I think (it is a perfect circle with symmetry pretty much around any axis). It's also got a taverley/burthope feel where jagex crammed as much as they can into one area. Also, Rimmington looks worse after the update IMO. I think the new graphics make runescape lose its medieval feel (burthope/taverley). The clothes and buildings look nothing like what I'd think of (I'm looking at you, pompous merchants). I can feel now that people are going to tell me to go play 07scape or RSC. There is a balance, I think, between terrible graphics and Jages trying too hard to make a game with "good graphics" (which Runescape will never have). Current varrock looks better than old varrock, but it does not overdo it like Rimmington, Taverley, or Burthope. I can see if new areas have the "better" graphics, but I would like to see the old ones keep their current looks. If Jages wants to update, I think they should focus on better graphics, not a transformation from a medieval style to cartoon/what the heck happened (ahem...Rimmingtom).
  18. To the Jagex team, I humbly implore that you do not graphically update any of the existing cities (anymore), like Varrock, Falador, or (especially) Yanille, my precioussssss. I think the cities and towns look fine as they are and would look more ugly if they were updated, like in Rimmington, which looks in my opinion like basura, or trash. If cities end up looking like this then I will surely quit once and for all. First of all, why have the tutorial, where you make the best impression you can on potential players, look nothing like the actual game? Secondly, a game which is supposed to be like a medieval adventure should not look like something that came out of a first grade coloring book in which only neon highlighters were allowed to be used. Some more gripes about recent cities. Why are there so many people to whom I cannot talk? Examples: Player owned ports, Prifddinas, Ashdale. Part of the fun of the game was just travelling and exploring and seeing new sights and people with whom I could talk. There weren't even examine features on a lot of "things" in these new areas until players griped about them. How difficult could it be to add some flavor text and to write a few lines? *Sigh* Rant is over. I said what I wanted to say. tl;dr: Don't update graphics in existing areas, tutorial is unfitting, new cities need to be more interactive (talk to citizens/examine features) inb4: You need to take off your nostalgia-colored lenses.
  19. I suggest getting Fairy Tale Part 1 and 2 done so you can use fairy rings (they've helped me endlessly). In terms of dxp weekend, maybe do something like Herblore or Summoning if you value money, or agility if you want to save time.
  20. Yes, I bought members the first month I came back, and I got charged like 8.75 or something. There's some kind of charge for using a credit card I guess. You don't pay $7.95? That's weird, some sort of tax maybe? Perhaps that tax that is applied to out-of-country purchases? I can't think of the name of that tax right now but I know it exists.

  22. They were more common when the promotions were going on. I got over 1,000 protean bars in 3 days during the promotion :P
  23. I'm guessing you mean the G.E., and I agree. EDIT: Didn't read thread title lel. That would be pretty nice and convenient. Although I expect that there would be problems since it would be updating too fast for the G.E. to complete sales correctly (which is why the current "your offer may already be completed" message shows up).
