  1. Thanks, TJ won. Not sure why Bartba didn't announce the winner but oh well :P
  2. A wip I'm working on for a contest I lost, any comments or c/c?
  3. Looks pretty good for a start gfx. The shading definitely needs more definition. Are you planning on keeping the black outlines as a part of the work? Right now I'd say work on shading and getting the definition that brings it out without the black outlines anyways good start... where have I seen that piucture before?? :P
  4. the stars are just white dots.. then i took a low opac brush and did the other stuff... i know its a non-traditional pixel.. Why are brushes looked at with such disdain, it's ok people, it's ok to use tools, we aren't cavemen. Looks nice btw LP.
  5. What he said, excellent work! I love your armor style it has so much character. For the record, I don't like backgrounds either :P

I'm not sure what these magic "creative brushes" are that require no talent, but I'm pretty sure I spend as much time if not more on sigs as pixel artists. There's no special brush that makes characters proportional, shades them and adds detail that I know of. Well maybe a texture tool but that looks cheesey anyways... What I see is people that I don't think really know what Pixel Art is. I think a lot of people think pixel art is just a term for digital art in general. But as far is it being a really popular art style, yea I'd agree that the prices being offered for the work is very attractive to would-be artists thus creating a lot of people trying there hand at it. I think also, that the cartooney style that seems to come hand in hand with pixel style art is also attractive to the younger community members. Kids like cartoons, hell a lot of adults do too, I like a cartoon every now and again :P. As far as needing skill, there is no doubt in my mind that you need skill and vision for any kind of art. I don't care if you're glueing construction paper together. If you have skill and vision, it's going to show against others that don't. Godslayer, I can believe that dog is pixel work, but that head I have a really hard time believing. That is very intense, it looks so smooth it must take forever to achieve that with pixels. As far as GSW's view, art is in the eye of the beholder, something you see as crap might be awesome to someone else. The same goes for anything really. Sounds to me like you took one too many art classes, you talk about design, composition and color schemes like these things are set in stone as to what is right and wrong. Sure there is a popular accepted way and then the opposite, that doesn't make one better than the other save through personal opinion. The quality of a lot of the work seems lacking to my eye, I'll agree. But a lot of these people are just becoming interested in creating art and shouldn't be dogged on but rather encouraged as a lot of people do in these forums, encourage that is. Anyways, my 2 cents.
  7. I like it, its a cool idea. Did you just mess with the hues or what?
  8. That seems like a pretty ignorant statement, I wouldn't even grace this topic with a reply and just let it die. Obviously this person has no idea what they're talking about.
  9. Ah Terley, of all the pixel artists around here, yours always feel the most real to me. Don't know what it is, you create an atmosphere that I don't see in other pixel sigs, it definitely sets you apart. Looks good as always. I know compliments don't help much but I really don't see anything wrong with it.
  10. I like it, I especially like the grass glow you got going on very cool.
  11. Looks very nice random. The robe folds I think you nailed, they look great. The only thing I don't like about the guy is his boots, they are reminiscent of shiny plastic tube socks. I would give them some folds and rather than using the yellowish color you did for a highlight i'd just go with a really light blue and follow it along a couple folds or so. Also the magic ball needs something, not sure what but it needs some flare. Anyways, awesome job, I'm a fan of your work.
  12. Looks really nice Terley, thanks for the little waterpainting lesson also, never knew that about it.
  13. I like it , think it's quite cool. Something a little different from what we normally see around here. :)
  14. I'd probably buy everything then grow bored with the game and give everything away then quit to eventually come back a couple months later and wish I had it all back.

Yea, I like the border, very cool.
  16. Can't see the sig above mine so can't rate it... Sorry, I rated 5/10 because you used a render and I think that's boring and uncreative. The background is lacking and doesnt do anything for me. I was being nice really by just keeping my mouth shut because I honestly didn't have anything good to say about it.
  17. 5/10 LOL there's like 5 people on here that just keep posting and rating each others sigs :P
  18. Hey, I like those too, a breath of fresh air! Glad to see something new :)
  19. Those are some nice fakes Jab. :)
  20. That's not bad, thats good. Love the ropey muscles.
  21. That's pretty good, how did you make it? Doesn't look like a pixel...
  22. Is there a certain kind of barrow monster you need to kill to get certain runes? I need to get more death runes than I am from these guys, I think I'm not killing the right monsters. I would love to know which monsters add which runes if that is how it works.
  23. Very nice job Terley, I thought it was a low quality picture at first. :P
  24. Nice guide Oddfaery2. Unfortunately it seems I'm not quite big enough to play with the big boys yet but someday...
  25. I like your style alot playboy. You don't like the faces eh? ALl your faces seem to be covered from the nose up.
