Use Gasoline, but make sure it is unleaded or your an Eco-Terrorist.

You don't start with cursed/blessed items. They are given randomly from encounters, or crafted. Adding multiple curse/bless to an item is cumulative. Aka: You say you are making a fire sword from a crystal of fire energy/shard of fire elemental/rarified vapour of fire and a sword. I say are you sure? You say yes I roll a die. You get an 11, so you get 0.1 xp in Fire Magic/Enchanting/something else. I roll another die. You get another 11, so you get a +0.5 Fire Sword/Sword of Revealing Fire/Sword of Flaming Glory. You wield/ID/Get someone else to hold the sword. I say it is a blessed +0.5 sword of fire. You say you want to add another enchantment using your Nevermelting Ice/Ironical/Shard of Ice Elemental and your blessed +0.5 sword of gire. I say are you sure? You say yes I roll a die. You get a third 11, so you get 0.1 xp in ice magic/enchanging/something else. I roll another die. You get a 7, so you get a Cursed -1.5(Ice Magic) +0.5(Fire Magic) Sword/Sword of Everheat/Hot Knife. You wield/ID/Get someone else to hold the sword. I say it is a Cursed -1.5/+0.5 Sword of Slush. You say you want to add another enchantment using your Finger Bone of the Lich/Skull of the Ghoul/Vampiric Dust, and your Cursed Sword of Slush. I ask if you are sure You say yes I roll a die. You get a 15, so you get 0.2 xp in Necromancy/enchanting/something else. I roll another die. You get a 20, so you get a Cursed +5.0(Necromacy) -1.5 (Ice Magic) +0.5 (Fire Magic) Sword/Sword of Undying Flame/Sword of Undeath. You wield it/ID/Get someone to hold the sword. I say it is a Cursed +5.0/-1.5/+0.5 Sword of Unliving Slush. You say you want to add another enchantment using your Fire Salts/Soul of the Infernal/Torch of Everburning and your Cursed Sword of Unliving Slush. I ask if you are sure you say yes I roll a die. You get a 13, so you get 0.1 xp in Fire Magic/enchanting/something else I roll another die. You get a 10, so you get a cursed +5.0(Necromancy) -1.5 (Ice Magic) Sword/Sword of Mangy Ice/Blade of Ice Absorbtion. You wield it/ID/Get someone to hold the sword. I say that it is a cursed +5.0/-1.5 Sword of Half-life Ice. [hide] You say you want to add another enchantment using your Turnip of Bedazzling/Orange of the Dutch/Soul of the Culinaromancer. I say the sword has turned into a Ficus and you die. [/hide] I would imagine that most people could work out the system from this example... The Curse/Bless are merely stat penalties/boosts, they have no other game effect... Unless you are doing an especially bad job and have managed to gain levels in Bleeding out or Glass Jaw, Curses are ALWAYS bad. (Unless you can can roleplay them into a positive...say being too stupid to be affected by the mental compulsion to stab yourself in the head...Or stabbing someone with your -5.0 Fire Magic Sword to prevent them from casting very well (NO THIS IS NOT A MECHANICAL EFFECT, this is a GM-Roleplay decision going 'Hmmm, that makes sense, I will allow it.') As a General Rule, though, Curses will only make you weaker, Blesses will only make you stronger.) If people want to have their sword burst into flames on command, or to provide mental shielding against the unspeakable horrors of the universe, then I have no problem with reasonable degrees of Roleplay-added-functionality. Aka 'I use my flaming sword to light our way through the dark tunnel'* or 'I freeze the door mechanism with my Chill Blade' or 'I stab the wizen old man, who is clearly there to deliever the plot, with my sword of Undeath and instantly animate his skeleton to tear its away out of his skin' (On a scale of difficulty I would say the first one needed level 0 to try with normal chance of failure (10+ to succeed), the second needs level 0 to try(20 succeeds), but level 5 to have much chance of success(10+ succeeds), the third needs level 10 to try(20 succeeds), but really level 20 to do reliably (10+ suceeds)) *Compared against 'I set fire to my sword to light our way with fire magic' 'Your sword becomes red hot and burns your hand, take 1 wound on your right arm' if you didn't have a magical fire sword. To directly address your question...I can't imagine there would be reason to have an intelligence skill. If there was then yes, you could probably roleplay that you were too stupid to be aware of the horror. (It would probably depend on how you had been acting...If you wandered around translating ancient scripts one minute, and were claiming to be too stupid to understand the feeling of doom the next...then I would say that you were still affected)

Yeah, so what I did, right, was I burned down the building when no one was in there. So it didn't hurt anyone, but it stops them to saving more murderers. Vigilantism is extremely base and reckless. Added to that it is a contravention of the concept of net neutrality. I really do fear for the future of the internet.
-
I am not sure what you mean. Yes
-
Burning down the Samaritians because they saved a murderer from committing suicide. Just that cool. Seriously Mather, why? Why is that, in any way, good?
-
Righto. Well I will put the channel up anyway, if people are here then they are here, if not then not.
-
Its better to get a good mark...or if there are no marks involved, get it over with with minimal effort. The audiance matters about as much as the USA cares about Mexico.
-
Properness is in the eye of the beholder.

So you would ask for a Fire blessed item, to use your example, and then I would roll to see whether it was cursed or blessed... You can pick it up and look at it and decide whether or not to use it, but once you have started using the cursed item then you can't get rid of it. So, for instance, you could pick up a cursed sword of -1.0 Cooking not knowing it was cursed. You can put it in your bag, or whatever, and then get rid of it. No harm done. You could Identify it somehow, still no harm done, you can still dump it in a nearby river with no comeback (unless someone doesn't like you dumping stuff in the river, but thats another point). Its only if you attack/defend against something else that the curse activates and then you can't get rid of it. Similarly, necklaces and bracelets and such would only activate if you put them on. You can have them in your pocket or whatever and there is no ill effect. Ultimately it is a very simple system: Cursed = Bad Blessed = Good You can probably have items that are both blessed and cursed, or items with multiple blessings/curses on. If people still don't get the system I am happy to dump it.

Personally...not annoying the teacher is always a good start. Beyond that anything is fair game. Though planning your presentation around what the class will think of you is rather silly...Unless Norway has some sort of democratic marking scheme. If you want to do it about Runescape though, I think it is probably an idea.

IRC and freestyle for the most part. If you are going to be away but want to do some vital thing then you can post...say traveling to a certain city. I wouldn't imagine so. I set aside the time irregardless of whether people turn up or not so if people post actions then I will run them. As ever Semi-Arbitrary. Rolling less than a 10 gives you nothing, rolling a 1 MAY reduce your level by 0.1 (Mostly it won't it is just a disclaimer). 10 gives you nothing, 11-13 gives you +0.1, 14-17 gives you +0.2, 18-20 gives you +0.3, and 20 gives an extra 0.1 is another skill if applicable, or the same skill if it isn't. I have no significant problem with people sitting there and casting minor flame over and over again in order to level up as quickly as possible, but I will have the building catch fire on a 1, or your magic to spill out of control and suddenly you are on fire =P They are basically permenant de/buffs tied to objects. For instance Staff of Fire gives you +2.0 to your fire skill (for example), for as long as you are using it. You can stop using the staff at any time you like. Staff of Wet Tinder gives you -1.0 to your fire skill, for as long as you are using it. You cannot stop using it until you sacrifice 1.0 ranks of skill or an item of a equal or greater stat boost (Which destroys both objects). Neither item is removed on death. Items are automatically identified by their use, and doubtless people can make up a skill to help them ID them. Items can be found, or crafted/whatever. Crafting something requires you to succeed in a normal skill check. Then to determine how powerful the enchantment is another die is rolled. Aka 1 being -5, 20 being +5, 10 being 0. Other numbers being other numbers. Personally I am not overly fond of the whole idea, hence why it is optional. You are in a roadside Inn Dormitary: [hide][/hide] Assume there are n number of beds, where n is the number of players. Righto.
-
Its 100% allowed, its even encouraged, since rolls only decide success or failure, and you recieve ranks for succeeding.
-
Nope. It is pretty much make up a name for a skill, and then level it up =-P

Anywho. I am willing to run a session for the new Dungeoneering on Thursday and/or Saturday. Please indicate your interest here, or via PM, you don't have to think about your character yet, though you can if you want to. The plot is thus: The # of you have woken up inside a roadside inn. Each of you has basic clothing which includes some simple armour (1 wounds worth of protection in all areas) and a weapon of your own choosing (Wands, staves and rods are permissible, though are not inherantly magic). You also have 1 rank (or 0.1 rank 10 times, or any variation there within that adds up to the same) in any skill base you want. Changes from previous games: Each of you have 1 Wound (HP) in each of your body parts (Head, Arms *2, Legs *2, Torso) You will die if you go to 0 Wounds in any one place (Though you can be a deranged quadriplegic with your intestines spilling out, if you so wish). Armour is damage reduction so rats, housecats, and errant stones will not kill you (normally). Though armour can be damaged over time. Killing enemies is a matter of drama...sometimes they will die easily, other times you will blow off their arm and they won't die. Dying causes you to lose 1 rank, you won't lose any items though. Magic is broken down into type and Sorcery. Magic itself (lighting fires, freezing stuff) can be done without Sorcery, but if you want to throw fireballs or summon ice walls then you need Sorcery as well. You level up Sorcery by rolling a 20 on magic based rolls. (I fully expect people who want to be Wizards to choose lots of Sorcery ranks, please remember that Sorcery is totally worthless without any type magic to go with it. 0.5 and 0.5 would be a better split) This is basically there to moderate magical power growth. Healing magic doesn't require Sorcery since it can't be used offensively (except against the undead, but I will let you off there  ) Most skill rolls work the same as they always have, you need a 10 to succeed, at level 5 you can succeed in the basics without trying, ect. Increasing your wounds can be done with better armour or increasing strength/resistance/ect. You will also get a dodging roll unless you are attacking or circumstances prevent you from dodging (You can't dodge falling off a cliff for example, or an explosion, or if you are pinned.) Optional: If you want you can ask for cursed/blessed items. They increase/decrease your stats by a fixed amount or give you some special ability. Cursed items cannot be removed without sacrificing 1 rank, or a blessed item of equal stat value (aka a +3 ring of dodging could cancel out a +3/2/1 necklace of poor judgement) though both are destroyed in the process. Dying does not remove the items. You are not automatically affected by cursed items just by picking them up (unless otherwise stated). If you want you can choose not to benefit/suffer from this but you must make this choice when you are not cursed/blessed.

Hmmmm. I am wondering about something...Do people ever get...I don't know... Giggle fits? I just had one thinking about Planeteering, Mather's game from ages ago. Just thinking of the ludicrosity of what we were doing, with the venturing through the stargate armed with numerous explosives and heavy weapons, then opening fire through the stargate for no explicable reason. Imagining it is terribly funny...They set up this new intiative thing to discover and settle new worlds and suddenly their people, after having gone through a long period of training, suddenly try to kill them  (posted for reference) Anywho. I am willing to run a session for the new Dungeoneering (about 2 hours ago from when this was posted) on Thursday and/or Saturday. TES Constructi? What is that?

Sigh...Browser wars 1.0 Microsoft has a market strategy geared towards selling a wide range of products of a reasonable standard. Netscape has a market strategy geared towards selling one product at a great standard. Microsoft overtakes Netscape in terms of standard because they can afford to produce their product at a loss because they are gaining money from other sources. Now: Microsoft still has the same market strategy...Simply to make money by selling products. Google's market strategy is geared towards collecting information and selling it. This means that they can afford to sell products at a loss. Eg Selling a better product for a lower price. So no, they cannot be directly compared because the way they make money is STILL different. Merely because Google is making PART of their money in the same way as Windows doesn't suddenly make them comparable. Sorry? Your argument is that a well established organisation decided that Android was better? Well that settles it then, someone call America and tell them they have fallen off the edge of the world, the Catholic Church decided the world is flat. An argument cannot be proved by the agreement of a large number of people. Again you are talking about totally different situations.
-
I am really at a loss as to how to respond to that...Your argument has no substance, you are merely saying 'It is better because it is better because it is better.'
-
This is because Google makes money by providing opportunities for advertising, while Microsoft and....Apple...make money by providing items people 'need' to buy. It doesn't really have comparative value...any more than a goldfish can be compared to a sparrow.

I have no idea what Net Security means...In my experiance it means pop-up blocking. Increasing the number of processes...I don't think I need more. Added to that IE9 distorts certain webpages. (Also it is a damn pain to get back from IE9 to IE8, I know, I have tried it) Wasted processing power? At the moment I am running Media Player, Steam, IE8 and notepad...Does it overly matter that it is wasting a marginal amount of processing power? (According to a very quick search Google Chrome uses, on average, more processing power, but uses less maximally) I have never had call to use the internet while doing something else...I have never had reason to have several dozen webpages open at the same time...I have never had reason to use the full processing power of my computer to surf the web. Frankly the more processing power it frees up, the more you end up using so it is just a false economy. I hate to indulge is mass conspiracy theory...But doesn't that seem terribly odd to you? Microsoft, an organisation that makes money, makes products, sells products, makes money. Google, an organisation that gives away free products...and thats it. No, the truth of Google is either, they are advertising, or they are collecting information to dominate more of the search engine browser market, which allows them to dominate advertising, which allows them to make significant amounts of money. I am not suggesting a conspiracy...Just that Google makes its money in a different way to Microsoft... I would love to see your criteria for that survey... "Do you live on land?" Yes "Do you use Google Chrome?" No "Do you consider yourself a repressed minority?" No "Nope, you are not internet-literate." Google Chrome might offer a brilliant experiance...Its not what I found when I used it, I found a frustrating experiance where it failed to do what I wanted it to do in a timely manner...I am not denying that Chrome has its positives...again I did not find them when I used it....Or that Google isn't a customer orientated company...Unsuprising since it is a service based industry it is competing in... What I am denying is that I would benefit from using the program. And given your defination of 'Abominable' is: Uses slightly more memory Doesn't conform to what my friends are using Company may be part of a global conspiracy to steal my internetz I really don't see how your argument is justified in any scientific sense, its just silliness with a frosting of science:
-
You mean why I prefer IE8 over all the other ones? (I have Lunascape and Safari installed for when things crash, as invariably happens regardless of which system you use) IE8 isn't one of the new breed of stealth updating, popup blocking, tab destroying crashfests that is currently in vogue... I can use it, it works, I have yet to have a problem with it. Why would I want to spend half an hour/a few weeks fine tuning other browsers to achieve what IE8 delivers already? I mean, I use the internet for researching, looking at the Tavern and occassionally downloading software...I rarely have more than 3 tabs open...So why would do I need a all singing all dancing browser? I really do fail to see how IE8 is 'Abominable'...
-
Hehehehehe....Mac. Yeah, cleaning up the desktop is a progressive project...and really all you are doing is shifting all the clutter into folders (Which I do since I know I will never use them again, but there is always the chance I might need them.) Ultimately though...I use the start bar more than the desktop, so most of the shortcuts just sit there, wasting bytes of space =P On the other hand...it gives me a chance to show off my artwork so you know =P [hide][/hide]

I would imagine so Mather...Stone Soup allows you to summon creatures, so I would assume building one(and then having it explode) would also be possible. Drow Anti-Tank Heavy Infantry Warrior of World War 2? Drow Begrizzled Vertern of the Dungeon of Carabadoon? Drow, The Kitten Snuggler, of Pillowland? To religion... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endovelicus

Its basically going to be IRC. Forum has proved, time and again, not to work. The only time anyone was really satisfied (Just talking for myself and limited feedback) was when I was running Dungeoneering without the flood control in place, which was basically IRC with a record. Elsewise the games seem to fizzle out due to people insisting 3 people are on and posting, without the game starting...and it is just a headache. Maptools set limits on what people can do, so it just isn't all that likely to workout. Ergo IRC with aids...Personally I prefer pictures over excel documents (Though Wyvern's pioneering impressed others so you may want to use them despite me not liking them), even a relatively limited picture which imparts surrounding information is better than no picture at all. Mumble is still an option, though it doesn't seem likely to get used. Anyway day after Sunday is fine for me until I get my schedual...though busy times are likely to be Monday morning and Friday afternoon (yay for short weekend with nothing inbetween, probably gonna change due to clashes though) Beyond that... Halfling cleric seems the best idea. Tavern groups never seem to have a healer so yeah.
