  1. Yeah, like the bone rings were for Ross, the Europe one was for Dusty...Dog one was for Ico. But when you start assigning names people get upset and its just not cricket.
  2. Mwhahah, found something for everyone: [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] To most people the bible is like a software licence, they don't read it, just scroll to the bottom and click 'I agree'. [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide]
  3. The puzzles were originally so people had something to do in between sessions, and for repair work. Ok ok ok...Here is my revised plan. Technobabbles = Techpoints...Ergo, everyone gets 3 per session, with the exception of people who burned theirs. Technobabbles carry on doing the old 'Get it done faster, stronger, better' thing as well. People who do the puzzles get extra techpoints, not Technobabbles. If you don't use the Technobabbles they DO NOT stack for next time. Researching 'because you can' is frowned upon, as is 'Everyone stack up on this research' and 'I spend the next 5 sessions Technobabbles on project X, back in two weeks'. Persistant and Pointless research will result in burned Technobabbles. So please do not feel that you 'have to' research every session. Ico, you can keep them to generate a new character. You can convert them, 1 to 1, into kT. Lynx, yes. I was brought here by the Admin and arguing that there was a need for a forum. =P
  4. As long as I don't have to plug anything into my temple...
  5. No, since there is no way to convert backwards. What would you propose? It helps to provide quotes, as I have 4 conversion tables(for various things) and the currency conversion ratio was not a table...
  6. ~Wikipedia That money is mine!
  7. How so? Puzzles: I believe I sent the details relating to this to Mather: As for doing research itself, I believe I posted a conversion of 1,000 kT to 1 tech point. Also I have said you could undertake cyberwarfare...or even break into tech buildings and steal research...missions.
  8. This is one of the oddities about people-computer uploads, as it is essentially saying 'Labotomise me'...something easily achievable without the need for complicated computers. What about them? Jet Engines and Propellers are entirely different beings. Same way that superconducting wire and wire are two totally different beings. Theoretically, yes. If a human life was displayed at 40 megabits per second (BLU ray quality) then it would only amount to 1,261,440,000 megabits per year, or 157,680,000 Megabytes per year, or 1.6 Petabytes per year. Assume you lived 70 years then that is only 110 Petabytes. Now, humans don't record life at 40 megabits per second...we would probably be lucky to record it at 16 kilobits per second (Video phone quality). And even then we are talking about the most expert photographic memory. So at 16kb/s it only amounts to 504,576 megabytes, per year. What isn't accounted for is white matter or any of the other unknowns.
  9. 1/1,000th 1,000 c=1 EC 1 kT = 1,000 EC A bread roll costs around 20 c. With a full days worth of food costing around 130 c.
  10. Errr...USB drives are flash based  Also high temperature superconductors were just a 'stones throw' away back in the 1930s. Also even if a chip was made of a material with 0 resistance there is still the celing value of the speed of the switches (or other read/write devices) within the chip. Additionally you would need a converter. You can't just plug a 3.5 mil jack into someones ear and have their mind transfer to the chip. Personally, it seems rather unlikely high temperature superconductors will ever work. I say that with no real scientific backing, but they seem unlikely to ever work, simply because it looks like wishful thinking. Yes we have made amazing discoveries in that field, but take airplane propellers. Invented some 112 years ago, are only 5% less efficent than the best developed ones today...no matter how much we stare at a propeller, no matter how much effort we apply to it, no matter how much research we do into it, we will never make it that much more efficent...if at all. Yes there MAY be a breakthrough tommorrow that makes them hundreds of times more efficent, but I don't believe that there will. Hence my belief that High Temperature Superconductors (as in ones that operate near/at/above room temperature/achievable temperatures usable in a commercial viable microchip) will never exist.
  11. Yeah, unless something comes up at some point to give you something. (@mather) Earth, the pirate mission was resolved successfully.
  12. We have all(maybe) seen those old films where the big machine with tape coils spinning actually holds a human mind... We always assume we are on the cusp of the revolution, and until the breakthrough actually happens we will always think we are. As for 1 Terabyte SD cards. If you were gonna use an SD card you would either limit yourself to about 1,000,000 write cycles. So unless this computer is going to be incapable of thinking for more than a few minutes, its not really applicable. Doubtlessly we could argue this out, but I see no real reason. There is not enough information to produce a concrete arguement, or even a cohesive argument...like saying X is less than 3 based X being a number between 0 and 6.
  13. So from Ico we have: Things nowadays seem to work by themselves, so we can easily believe that they are doing things we don't know about. From Nex: Things do things. (FEAR THE ARMY OF DIVEBOMBER BRICKS ABOVE YOUR HEAD) From Mask: Humans naturally fear things. Personally more in favour of Mask's view. The fear of the unknown is imprinted on us at a young age...We know, or at least think we know, about bricks, so we don't fear them...where as the man in the cave may fear this strangely straight rock...in the same way a heartshaped rock is mysterious. On the subject of religion...Its wrong, but that doesn't make believers bad people (Any more than non-believers are instantly good people). What I will say is this...people who are religious tend to be more zealous and more moral...for good or bad.
  14. Just had a strange thought. In the 70s they thought microchips of the future would be so powerful that humans could be stored on them and such. Nowadays we worry about mobile phones and massive conspiracies and such... And we know that people used to believe that everything, even inanimate objects had spirits. So I am wondering...why do we consider it more likely that some metal, plastic and electricity, are going to spontanously develop life and declare war on us...but we don't think 'Oh my GOD I am surrounded by Bricks, what if they suddenly came alive!'
  15. Its more likely that they, like you, didn't turn off discovery...and the computers did it themselves.
  16. Its hard to comment on his acting prowess...Face it, anyone could be Dr Who and the British Public would applaude them as brilliant. I had the same issue at University. If you got to Network and Sharing Center (on the control panel) you can turn off Network Discovery. Not sure if you have to turn it off for each connection, probably not.
  17. NOOOOOOO. Can occassionally be interesting, but then you realise that you are listening to a guy talking about a car...and another guy talk about another car...and a third guy talk about yet another car....3 Shows and you basically have the rest of the series mapped out for you. Meh, can be good until you realise you were supposed to be watching everything in the background to get the clues to the future...Its like you are playing a game and the mod suddenly says 'And everyone takes off their masks and are revealed to be zombies'.
  18. /join #space-5 tavern Also, for reference: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12603519/Space2/Prices%28in%20EC%29.html I will expand to cover the rest of the map at some point.
  19. Archimage, the Innevitable Expert: [hide][/hide] So: NPC Race, and NPC Class. For reference: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/rules-for-monsters/creature-types#TOC-Archon Overall I think it balances out. Tell me if you think I get an extra 5 points on the point buy (Not a spell caster  )
  20. Old ones are the best: [hide] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNNK-y7oBek [/hide]
  21. You would think...But I have back rolled out my bed, which was about a meter and a half in the air, smacked into a giant television(one of those old ones you see in movies from the 80-90s), that was fine, then the Video Recorder, which slid off the mounting, the cord swung, pulling the TV down on top of me(I was already on the floor looking up when the video recorder hit tension and pulled the TV down). TV landed itself with the corner in my pelvis (me as a child got hit in pelvis alot in retrospect...stage, horse, TV...), and caught the other corner with my temple(I forget which one)... So, while certainly dangerous, it is not inherantly life threatening.
  22. Your a doctor, not the possible police. Besides which: In the future there will be Parasomnia Rem Sleep Behaviour Disorders, for all!
  23. If everyone is gonna be busy (kinda a small sample to base if off of) then I would be happy to do the city creation thing... My general plan is to establish a city over the temple ruins...yes it is the least advantagous of the three to begin with, but it is the least likely to come and bite us in the backside later on. Doubtless SOME other people will be on, so we can discuss where to go from there.
  24. Can we please not ridicule people trying to come up with an original roleplaying game? If you don't like the idea you don't have to be involved... And if you feel the need to attack people for trying, then do it in private, not out where everyone can see how much of a philistine you look. I mean, people don't appear on Kingmaker and post: 'Lol, can my character have a ring that fires swords' 'My character is a cross between all the dragons, and is immortal.' You would soon get pretty wound up if they did.
