Raise the GP Cap on P2P to 100 Bil
There are several ways to increase the GP Gap. One of them would be to just introduce a new currency, say Platinum Pieces. These would be worth 1000 GP each, and would be buyable only from designated NPC's, who could in turn also re-exchange them for GP. This would not affect inflation, as the only place you could buy this other currency is from an NPC. This way Jagex would not have to make any massive changes to the coding of Runescape, and would theoretically raise the GP cap to just over 2.1 Trillion. Another viable solution, to at least prevent players from losing their entire money stack from the cap due to going over would be to just not allow a player to accumulate anymore GP once they hit the cap. A simple message resembling that of one when your inventory is full, or your bank, would alleviate the possibility of a player losing such a massive amount of wealth, which, if they're playing legitly, takes thousands of hours to achieve. This cap was not created to prevent rises in Rares, and it in no way will halt their rises. The real problem that could occur with the increasing prices is that Party Hat merchants begin using another currency, and GP slowly becomes phased out. In Diablo 2, the entire game's currency was destroyed, and players began using a "Unique" (better described as Rare) item, called a Stone of Jordan, as currency. This had a serious effect on game play, completely overturning the economy.

A friend in need?.... I am a jerk..
I think what your friend is doing is perfectly normal for a person in his position. As you said, he makes money in real life much faster in real life than on Runescape, so why bother labouring, doing EXTREMELY repetitive and boring tasks like Woodcutting / Fishing / Mining / RCing, making at max 300-400K an hour? If we assume he makes about $35 / Hour at his job (I'm sure he makes more but let's just be conservative. He paid $6 / Mil for his gold, so that means he makes nearly 6 Million RS Gold per hour while working as a real estate agent. If I were him, I wouldn't go through the boring labour in Runescape either. Real-World trading may technically be illegal in Runescape at the moment, but the fact is, courts have acknowledged that items acquired in video games do represent real-world value. Players work to accumulate their wealth. The reason Jagex is so perserverant in their enforcement of Rule 12 is because it would greatly encourage autoing if it were legal to sell gold for real money. Subsequently, they have linked GP sales to autoing, even though (despite their denials), there is a great percentage of legit gold that is sold as well. By reporting your friend you aren't helping him at all. If you think video game addiction is taking over his life, then you should TALK to him. Getting him banned is not a long-term solution, VGA (Video Gaming Addiction) is just like any other addiction, and should be dealt with in the same way as someone hooked on drugs or alchohol. Confront, discuss, and if that doesn't work, then tell his friends and family to do the same. But, if this is instead about your jealousy towards him, which you have already hinted it is, then you should be the one taking a step back. Is he really the one with a problem when he has a good paying job, and I'm assuming, a family?

Training AFK At Bandits = Ban?
This rule does not seem to be enforced at all. It is very hard to prove whether or not a player is AFK, and it is just as hard to define being "AFK". I mean, I could be at my keyboard, but have my Runescape screen minimized. I could have it maximized and be watching the television, but be sitting at my computer chair. Some people have told me in the past that if a Mod talks to you directly and you do not respond, they can report you for being AFK. But let's get real, it doesn't happen, and even if it did, I really don't see Jagex taking any action. The bottom line is, AFKing at Bandits allows a player to get very good combat experience without even having to pay any attention to the game. Jagex really should tweak the aggressiveness of these NPC's once a player has completed Desert Treasure. There is no need for them to attack God-Item equipped players for any period over 5 minutes, especially when they've completed the corresponding quest.

The rarest rare?
From my experience trading Rares, I'd definitely say that Christmas Crackers are a great deal rarer than Half Wines. I personally dealt with a player who had over 20 Half Wines, and still has them, and if you search on forums you can find quite a few sellers. The supplies of Crackers and Wines can vary immensely depending on the market; when Crackers begin to fall in value, you tend to see a fair amount advertised, but during times like the present, they're nearly impossible to find.

Since when has the Runescape Community become a bunch of....
In a game as massive as Runescape, there's undoubtedly going to be plenty of players who are addicted to pixels. However, your friend really doesn't represent the entire community, and scamming is by no means a new phenomenon. Just remember, when someone's behind a computer screen, they're not the same person, so trusting people you meet over the internet is not only risky, but downright stupid.

Today I ate a cheeseburger at McDonald's. I am making a post about it on General P2P as we speak.

Durial's interview gives 'scapers a bad rap
It's one thing to sympathize with Durial, it's another to treat him like some legend on Runescape. People are acting as if what he did took some sort of genius plan, when really it was just dumb luck. To imply that he'll be marked down in the history of VIDEO GAMING?? Give me a break, there's been tons of bug abusers in the past, and there will be tons more in the future. I also noticed Durial never hesitated to agree with these comments from "The Rat", instead of admitting that he really did nothing special. To actually try and argue the ban on this guy is absolutely absurd. People are banned for advertising legitimate websites, for transfering 100K to their pures to buy some Addy Arrows. If you aren't banned for blatantly abusing a bug, that not only caused harm to the game, but also DIRECTLY to other players, then there's no action worthy of a ban. Sure, it's a tricky situation to be in, being able to attack players outside the Wild, but there's a million reasons why you should not take advantage of it. I mean, you aren't doing it for the money, since you know your account is going to be wiped away within a few hours. The only reason to be abusing this bug is to cause other players a hard time, and to get attention. So good riddance.

First Person To Obtain And Sit On A Demonic Throne!
This person is blatently jealous. jealous of what? some1 spending that much time on the computer? try but you wont make me believe this guy go to school or work and sleep while getting 2mill construction xp a day There's literally thousands of people who are no-lifing since Construction's release, so it's not like he didn't have competition. It's nice to see Cursed putting his wealth to good use, and good luck on 99.

quiting rs
I deserve all your money because i probably wouldn't even notice it in my bank account. The rest of these guys are desperate, while the rich play it cool. In conclusion, give all your money to those that don't need it, and there will be less drama.

My monkfish brings all the pk'ers to the yard...?
Many pkers are completely content with just creating an inconvenience to other players. And hey, let's face it, there's a lot of people who are dead bored on RS2, so there's really nothing shocking about this whole ordeal. Jagex wouldn't have put the course in the Wild if they didn't think a few low-lifers would try and get a few cheap kills every now and then.

Guthan's Spear isnt expensive for nothing
Aside from rarity, the Spear is also more expensive because it is the least valuable item in the Guthan Set when sold to a shop. This means that when a player dies wielding his/her Guthan Set, they end up losing the Spear and keeping the rest. This creates a great deal more demand for the Spear.

1 defence pures, not the dogs ****s anymore
Like a few people have said, 1 Def Pures are only effective in the arena when Armor is Off. 90% of the time they should also make sure Mage / Range is off, unless their opponent's Mage / Range is significantly lower than their Str level. So, I think this duel really proves nothing more than the fact that your enemy was a fool.

Another hint for construction?
I really have to say, ever since the engine was updated, Jagex has been sending out a LOT of hints about Carpentry, or Construction. It really looks like they're working hard to make this skill every bit as interesting as people have been anticipating. In my opinion, I'd say it will be released in early July.

How rich is rich?
Considering there's cap at around 2100M, the picture was a fake. Sorry to break it to you :P

List of Common Scams.
Well, I've been playing F2P a lot lately and I find everyone there tries to pass their items off as Rare, or Discontinued. Popular items that are advertised as Rare are Muddy Keys on F2P, and Hollow Reeds on P2P. An easy way to avoid any scams of this fashion are to follow the Rare Item List: - Santa Hat - Pumpkin - Easter Egg - Green Halloween Mask - Blue Halloween Mask - Red Halloween Mask - Purple Party Hat - Yellow Party Hat - Green Party Hat - Red Party Hat - White Party Hat - Blue Party Hat - Christmas Cracker - Disk of Returning - Half-wine Another popular scam nowadays is Luring. People will offer a really good deal for your expensive item, and will tell you to meet them right near the Wild. They will begin moving into the Wild, and then open the trade screen. While you are in the screen, their friend pops up and begins attacking you, usually with Ancient Magic. I've known people who lost Party Hats to this trick, so I'd be very careful if someone tells you to meet them in Edgeville. The only other effective scam I've seen that's not on this list would be Unidentified Herbs. A friend of mine was selling a Blue Party Hat, and someone put up a ridiculous amount of Unid'ed herbs (like 20K) and said they were Ranarrs. My friend did the usual anti-scam maneuver, he bought 2 of them, identified one, and then held the other Unid'ed herb as a note in a full inventory. However, when he made the trade, he somehow ended up with 20K unid'ed Marentills. The basic moral of this is not to accept Unidentified Ranarrs in massive quantities.

Quitting, What to do with the cash lying around.
Buy 3 Santas.
-
what is the max amount of money you ever had ?
Most cash I ever had was like 900M, after I sold a Phat Set for 600M or so. Within about 2-3 hours I'd respent it all on Rares and was back down to around 100M :P

Average Income Per Hour?
Who says he ONLY merchants party hats, if he merchants them at all :) . Chewy's been merchanting for quite longer than you have played RS, I think, so he knows what he's doing. I think the way he gets so much is he does multiple things at a time, but I won't say what exactly I think he does. That's up to him. First of all, he said he played for 4 months. As far as Merchanting goes, I think I can quite safely say I know what I'm doing. Let me tell you, there is no item that provides better profits than Rares; Party Hats in particular. Raw Material Merchanting on the side can maybe increase his profits by 500K an hour, but it still wouldn't push him anywhere near the 5 Mil / Hour mark. Everyone seems to beating around the bush, acting like Chewyshoes has some genius scheme of accumulating wealth. Let me tell you, it's all hype. He might brag to his friends, and show you some pretty items, but it's all a facade.
-
Average Income Per Hour?
I could average 3-5 Mil an hour when I Merchanted Phats and Rares. The only way to be averaging more than that would be staking. I highly doubt Chewy is averaging 5 Mil an hour with 500M. You're lucky to make 2-3M every 2 trades (since you gotta buy+sell the item), and since you can't afford a Phat Set, there are going to be a few deals you miss out on. I'm not calling you a liar or anything, I'm just saying it's easy to get carried away when you're making money. The average Phat Merchant doesn't make more than 1 Mil / Hour.

How People Love That #1 Player
Go easy on the original poster, he's just pointing out how absolutely crazy the Runescape population acts around the #1 player. It's funny, but Zezima is probably more recognized than average Hollywood actors (Julia Styles for example). If I was Zezima i'd be searching for some sort of sponsor, because his name is definitely marketable.

Raise the GP Cap on P2P to 100 Bil
Big thanks to Swamp for giving an understandable explanation on why this cap has been input into the game. To all those saying there's only 5-10 players with 2100M, you are mistaken. Cursed, Angel, Ha12D, Clubber, Stevenxu, Duke (before the ban), myself, Ice Giant, Jeppoz, Geipe, Wp Sk8ordie are just a few examples of players who have enough money to hit the cap. There's many more to be named, and the number only increases everytime Rares go up. Like I said in the original post, players who currently have around 1.5 Phat Sets worth of stuff (even Zezima admitted to having around this amount of $) will be hitting 2 Bil in the next year.

Let's clarify a few things :) - Mea culpa!
Well, in my opinion, if you earn your money legitamately, it should be your property. Give it a few years, the courts will be dealing with cases on the subject a lot in the next little while. I know we had our differences Duke, but I've always had respect for you as a Merchant. It's really a shame that you've become mixed up with the autoing community when it comes to Real World Selling, because the fact is, your money is NOT dirty, and I think Jagex knows that. However, like you said, it's a risk you take when you sell money for real-world cash, and Jagex is obviously pursuing any offenders aggressively.

Merchanting...a True Skill?
What people seem unable to understand is that many players, myself being one of them, absolutely love Merchanting. It can be a bit dull when you're selling Raw Materials, but it really gets interesting when you're dealing with Party Hats and other Rares. People often overlook the Rare Merchanting community, which is perhaps one of the strongest in the game. There's plenty of information being passed around, such as who sold what during that day, and this information is all relevant to the market. Every trade being made has a direct effect on the prices, so a skilled Merchant keeps track of just about EVERYTHING that takes place in Fally Park World 2. I have never met a Party Hat Merchant that has said it's boring to buy and sell in Fally Park. There are obviously downtimes, and some people don't have the patience to do it, but those people rarely have enough money to buy a Santa, let alone a Party Hat, so they really can't comment on the subject. I think the reason many people express such hate towards Merchants is because of isolated experiences that they use to generalize the entire Merchanting community. Just because some random person is rude, or asks for a ridiculously high amount of GP for an item does not mean he is a Merchant, and it definitely does not represent anything about Merchants in general. All these experiences show is that the Runescape community as a whole is one with very little manners, something that everyone usually learned after they hit level 5 combat.
