Merchanting...a True Skill?
To say Merchanting takes no skill is just an ignorant statement. There are many things a player can do to increase the amount of profit he/she makes when buying and selling items. One example would be good communication skills. There are numerous situations where the only way you can get the deal you want is if you can talk someone into it. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not rocket science, but you still have to keep your cool and make sure not to take anything too personally. Anyways, I could banter on about millions of things that a skilled merchant does to increase his/her success. The bottom line is, if you put two players in Varrock Square with 100K each, and tell them to merchant all day, one of them is going to have more at the end of the day. There is obviously a luck factor, which is apparent in nearly every game, but that doesn't mean there's not a skill factor as well.

high level mage training?
The best Magic Experience is, like people said before, Ice Burst at Bandits. For it to be effective, however, you need to buy not only the expensive Runes, but also Prayer Pots, since you're in Multi-Combat. Other than that though, it takes basically no clicking at all, and also levels your HP up pretty quick. Great way to level up Mage.

Last Days of a Runescape Player
Everyone says they were innocent after they've been banned. Maybe you didn't auto on your main, but I have a lot of trouble believing Jagex bans people wrongly for macroing. It's really not very hard for them to tell if you've been macroing, and it's in their best interest to only ban people that are surely guilty. I, for one, am glad that Jagex is taking action against people's main accounts instead of just their worthless mules.

To Fix Autoing You Must Fix The Game
I've seen many suggestions of aggressive NPC's being placed near any popular skill-training area, and I agree it would deter the autoers to a certain extent. However, it would also leave the legit players at a disadvantage; I've done my share of training Thieving at Market Stalls, and the NPC's are a huge hassle. My suggestion was not necessarily to implement my diagram of the tree, I was just using it as an example. The only way you can beat the bots is by adding some sort of Reasoning, or a Skill-Factor to the game's money-making skills. Bots will continue to get around any other barriers; whether it be random events or aggressive NPC's. The ONLY other viable option to free the game of autoing would be a massive rehaul of F2P. If there was no way to make good money in Free Worlds, the Autoing community would be truly crippled. However, what makes Runescape so popular is that basically all of their customers were players who enjoyed the F2P experience. If the F2P market was crippled, then there would likely be much less members.

I duped my phat?
I wouldn't put this at the player's fault. How is he 'abusing' in the present tense this bug? It's obviously unfair, but again, what do you want him to do? Drop the party hat? Reporting a known bug isn't really that necessary. If this was a new form of dupe, then yes, it's a different case and it should be reported. But it's over with and jagex already knows about the flaw in their system, which is the main point. The "abuse" was an accident. It wouldn't be fair if I got 100 rune med drops in a row, but does that mean I should be punished for it? No, it is luck. I think the only reason people are making such a big deal about this as "bug abuse" is because the item that got duplicated was a Party Hat. The fact of the matter is, to abuse a bug, you must be exploiting it on purpose. The reason why this is a bug that really can not be abused is the fact that the player has absolutely no control on whether or not a server crashes, and there is also nothing a player can do to predict when these server crashes are going to take place. Sure, it's quite unfair that this player ended up making nearly 150M because of a server crash, but it's entirely Jagex's fault. The company should fix the problem of items becoming duplicated during a server crash before this begins repeating itself. Although they are unpredictable in one sense, there are certain days and times during which they are more likely to occur (Mondays, usually 4-10AM E.T.). The last thing this game needs is another dupe, as Party Hats are so extremely expensive at the moment, and it only takes 1 duplicate to make more money than the average 100 players earn in a year combined.

To Fix Autoing You Must Fix The Game
As Runescape has continued to grow, and make a mark on the gaming market, it is assumed that certain problems become accentuated. Many of these problems lie in the fact that In-Game Currencies have real-life value, something many players are trying to take advantage of; some through legit methods, and others through cheating. Autoing seems to be by far the most popular way to go about this cheating, and many players are offering solutions to problem. However, the majority of these suggestions do not come close to fixing the dilemma, as autoers can easily create new accounts, no matter which actions are taken against their previous ones. Jagex needs to realize that older skills in Runescape are far too basic, and are just as easily conducted by bots as by humans. Newer skills like Farming and Slayer seem to have greatly reduced the ease of autoing, by creating more complex means of gaining experience. Older Skills like Woodcutting, Fishing and Mining are nothing more than point and click, which at some point HAS to change, if Jagex wishes to ever become rid of the massive swarm of autoers on Free Worlds. The solution to the problem is really quite simple. Jagex must incorporate some skill factor into the game, which would leave bots at a massive disadvantage. This "skill factor" does not have to be major. One possibility in Woodcutting would see a player do the usual click on a tree, and then a graphic of the tree would appear on their screen, divided into 6-7 different areas. If you click on the area with the crack in it, your chance to get a log from the tree would greatly increase. Just like Bank PINs, the Cracked area on the tree would rotate around the different areas randomly, and although it would take an extra click when training the skill, experience could be adjusted accordingly, to make the Experience / Hour of the average player basically exactly the same as it is today. Not only would this basically obliterate the Autoing community, but it would also favour players who are actually paying attention to the game, instead of just clicking like a zombie every now and then. Although many people have become comfortable with the current leveling system, it is quite unrealistic to expect Jagex to ban all these autoers with the current conditions. There really is no way to ban a specific person from playing the game in this day and age, as people can access the game through Cybercafes, friends' or families' computers; basically any spot with non-restricted internet access. The only way to fix Autoing is to fix the game folks, and it's time people accept that.

I duped my phat?
IF this is true, wouldn't this mean that any successful trade in the 15 minutes or so leading up to the rollback have given the same result? And if not, then I would be very interested as to why your specific trade ended up creating two copies of the item. Anyways, this is far from bug abuse, as there is no way to have conducted this purposely, unless they were the players who crashed the servers (which is about a 1-10000 chance). Anyways, very interesting result. However, don't be surprised if Jagex ends up fixing this problem and erasing any items that ended up getting duped.

recent rare prices..
Actually, for the past month or so, Rares have actually been dropping (albeit at a slow rate). This is likely due to the extreme Small Rare Rise that took place in early March, but nonetheless has cost many players a fair amount of money.

3 April 2006 - Behind the Scenes - April
People act as if Jagex is doing us some huge favour by releasing updates, but the fact of the matter is, they're not. Sure, the membership fee is small in comparison to games like WoW and EQ, but you have to realize that they're very different games. At $60 / Year, Runescape membership is only $40 more than Xbox Live, which allows you to play ANY Xbox Live Enabled game. The only reason that Runescape is appealing to the average gamer is the consistent flow of new content. The graphics are obviously far below average, the gameplay is mediocre at best, and the community is nothing to get excited about. Therefore, I believe any member has ample reason to give their opinion on the updates. If every month was like this one, I highly doubt Jagex would be growing at the rate it is today, and I'm sure many players are disappointed. I'm not saying that Jagex is doing a bad job, I'm just saying that this month has nothing that draws me in.

The Idea of High Lvl Money Competitons in RS
Runescape is not the type of game that would have success hosting tournaments, as it really requires no skill to battle another player. The types of games that can be hosted at LAN's, and can offer prizes to winners, are action-based ones, like Starcraft, Warcraft III, Halo2, Counterstrike, etc. The problem with Runescape, or any MMORPG, when it comes to true online competitions, is that players do not enter under equal terms. On Halo2, both players start out with the exact same gun, the exact same Hit Points, and the exact same abilities. In Runescape, players with higher skill totals enter with a huge advantage. Some MMORPG's do require a certain element of skill, whether it be aiming your bow, or quick casting of spells. Runescape, however, is little more than point and click once, and crossing your fingers for a good hit. That's really not going to create an interesting gaming atmosphere, and therefore would not bring in many spectators.

RuneScape PK Interview/Documentary
I really think this was a badly made video. It had potential to be funny, but in my opinion it was terrible.

The Combat triangle=Unbalanced?
This is what happens when a nub bases his opinion on his 65 Mage (I'm sure he doesn't even have Ancient Magic). Magic is overpowered if anything, especially in the Wilderness. The ability to not only freeze a target, but also prevent him from Teleporting, makes Mages the most dangerous things north of Edgeville. I'd much rather see some improvements for Rangers, if we're still on the subject of BALANCING the triangle.

Is there a future for dragons on Rs...
I think a White Dragon could be implemented very well into the game. There is already a ranger set with 70 Def required (albeit a very weak one). However, if this White Dragon were to drop hides, I think they should be a Rare Drop. If there was a 70 Def Ranger Set that was around 200K a set, it would be way too powerful for PKers. Basically, there has to be a risk associated with carrying a Set of 70 Req Armor into the Wild, and that risk would be a monetary one. I think there could be several interesting locations for this new Dragon. One option, is of course, the Wild. However, since the Chaos Elemental was just released, and seeing as it is situated in the Wild, this might be a tad repetitive for the moment. Another interesting spot was mentioned by a player on this post, and that's in the Elven Grounds on the Western side of Runescape. I believe this area needs more draw to it, as it is a very picturesque part of the Runescape World, but offers little challenges to players. An interactive dungeon, which ultimately leads to the White Dragon could be just the ticket to opening the Western Lands up to the Runescape population. Also, as a rough idea, I was thinking there could perhaps be a mini-game to slay this dragon. As opposed to the massive teams in Castle Wars, and the solo tasks in the Fight Pits, the White Dragon Dungeon could offer a mini-game for a Party of 3-4. The team would face challenges similar to the Fight Pits (albeit a bit easier), which would culminate in a battle against the White Dragon. Every member of the team would receive some sort of recompensation for completing the dungeon (maybe combat exp), and of course the drop from the White Dragon. The experience reward could vary on the amount of players in your team, and the combat levels of the participants (For example, EXP = Level x 100).

Raise the GP Cap on P2P to 100 Bil
I think a land plot could be extremely profittable, even at prices of 20-30M a week. I can make up to 20-30M in a good day of merchanting, and with a public shop owned and controlled by me, I'm sure i could double my sales. For big merchants, even an increase of 20-30% in profits is a huge difference.

Runescape best online game ever???
The best online game ever was Starcraft. End of story.

Raise the GP Cap on P2P to 100 Bil
You couldn't be more wrong. Very few players have Merchanted anywhere near a Billion. Most Billionaires are investors who made either made their cash back in RSC, from early 85 Slayer, or from staking. Staking is by far the fastest way to accumulate wealth on RS2. To be honest, the only merchants I know that will have any problems with the cap are myself and Duke.

Raise the GP Cap on P2P to 100 Bil
You obviously missed the entire point of this post. I could have 100 Billion if I wanted, even with the cap, as long as it was in Rares and other items. The problem about the cap is not that I will hit a point where I can no longer accumulate wealth, but the fact that if I, or anyone else, goes over 2100M in cash, their gold becomes negative, and wiped away. Sure, maybe an envious player like yourself would see no problem in that, but for the rest of us, it's an obvious problem that has to be dealt with.

Can You Beleive this!
When Abyssal Whips came out, 0ddball sold me what he claimed was the first one found (it was actually the second), but he only charged me 45M. I went to the Duel Arena a few minutes later and sold it for 65M :P. At that time, 20M profit was nearly a Blue Phat, so it was a sweeeet deal.
