Am I the only one who finds the thought of goons being able to reach low orbit inside 5 years a horrifying prospect? The thought that guys like this will hit moonside before most governments and set up shop is also pretty high on the "oh [cabbage] we all gonna die" list. Yeah, it's awesome that private citizens can do this on what amounts to a breadcrumb budget, but still.

Saru, not all cases of suicide or attempted suicide are due to chemical imbalances in the brain. A sizable chunk, definitely, but far from even a slight majority. People who think that anything (even oblivion) would be better than the living Hell-hole that is their life are very liable to think about doing it. Anything that puts extreme stress on someone for longer than a few days (ESPECIALLY if there's no end in sight from their perspective) could potentially cause this sort of reaction. Just popping pills and strapping people to beds isn't going to help. Perhaps finding the social reason for this would do the trick?

Dude, this guy stole exactly jack and sh#@ from the store at this point in time. The fact that the rent-a-cop didn't notice the receipt he was waving around (nor the fact that he wasn't able to speak a single word) while he was beating the life out of this guy should be punctuated by this, although this is far from meaning that this is right even if the guy DID snatch something. Detaining a shoplifter? Sure. Doing what this pig did to a guy? Not so much. Watch the vid.

Pretty sure you just proved Bentomat's point. Uh, no he didn't He's referring to how I think that the people who do this [cabbage] would get their asses kicked if they were put in a room with some good cops who know what they did. Personally, this doesn't so much say that police (even good ones) are violent [wagon] as it says they are human. See, they know and (depending on where they're at and their time spent with a badge) have personal experience with [cabbage] that happened as retaliation for something like this. Pulling these stunts endangers their lives and, by proxy, the lives of innocent civilians by means of pissing on the hornet's nest. Anybody with a shred of decency would think that someone who'd do that either without thinking or for what amounts to s@6ts and giggles needs to learn face-first why it's a bad idea. Mainly because they've proven themselves to be too stupid to heed damn near anything else as a deterrent. If someone started barking at a group of gangsters trying to prove themselves to be badasses when your sister got killed by a stray bullet coming from that same sort of situation, you'd kick the guy's ass before the Crips even saw this douchebag.

Wrong. The majority of police officers (won't say anything about rent-a-cops), ESPECIALLY in big cities, sign up to try and protect the average person from criminal assault, rape, murder, etc. Put one of these jackasses in a room with a bunch of good cops after they've beat the [cabbage] out of someone for talking back to them, and they're going out of that room with a concussion, if not on a stretcher. These "people" justify the argument that it's better to not call the cops at all, which hinders the REAL police officers' jobs as well as puts people in danger. Removing them from their post and giving them jail time (general population wards) is the best way to remove these schoolyard bullies from the force that doesn't involve making PUBLIC examples of them (not a whole lot of people are going to hear about the [cabbage] that gets done to these guys in prison besides other cops). Every police officer that truly wants to fulfill his role in society would want to see this sort of behavior eradicated.

Yeah, the main thing I can think of to use this crap for is to flood two sheets of drywall or something with it for E-Z Bulletproof Buildings. Other than that, You're probably better off picking something more conventional. At least until they make it both compressible and make it a LOT more bullet resistant. How well does it hold up to heat damage? Almost all "explosives" nowadays use a shaped plasma jet to punch through [cabbage] by burning a hole clean through. Will this hold?

Yeah, most of the stuff is probably stuff that people made as an experiment (whether government-sanctioned or not is anyone's guess). Personally, if any of them WERE Off-world design, the pilots would probably have the tech and skill to be able to do whatever they wanted to without even needing to get into the earth's atmosphere, let alone close enough that they could make an in-air collision with a jet. However, you never know, especially with something like this. Probably, if off-worlders really HAVE had a presence here in any respect for as long as some people say (referencing a lot of the weird [cabbage] that is floating around on this planet as proof), then they've probably also made some sort of interaction with the world's major governments and got some sort of "we keep off each others' business" treaty with them at the very least. I personally think the biggest problems with interspecies relations with almost anything will start from humans (look at the Middle East, you'll get my point). Assuming that the off-worlders have any control over the situation, they'll probably avoid exposure to the public as much as possible. The only situations I can think of where they'd pop out and say "Hi" on international television are almost all bad ones (either they're helping us advance (unlikely, for the previously stated reasons), invading us, or they need all the help they can get, either as refugees or fire support in some sort of conflict).

They only done very VERY little description of him at all, if you want to even call it that. Obviously, a few of them are Asian-trained (Scorpion's a real live ninja, remember?). Maybe Sub-Zero's from a rival clan (as in the game), and he done something that would piss Scorpion off enough to want him dead (perhaps tied to his f**ked up eyes?). Anyway, this is looking to be the most interesting game turned movie in the history of the genre. Please, sir, I want some more! *puppy dog eyes*

On the Jung test, I got Extraverted 89 Intuitive 62 Feeling 50 Judging 33. The description given for it seemed pretty accurate. I think the IPIP Neo was better, though. Wanna know what REALLY blows my mind about the whole bit? The fact that it was done with 2 days of filming and less than 2 months of editing. Even WITH top-notch people on the ball for this, that's insane for the quality they put out.
-
They're probably going to either cut out people like him or give them some mechanical assistance (if civilians have working prototypes of brain-controlled prosthetic limbs, what do you think the military/underworld has?). I'm personally interested in seeing (assuming they get the go-ahead, which they bloody well should) 1) just who they are going to have in the lineup, and 2) what sort of things they'll have access to. The main thing I'm worried about is the translation from supernatural to realistic; at least SOMETHING is going to get cut, but what exactly is what worries me. Either way, this looks like epic win in a can.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_MqZn7E-mk Do NOT watch this video if you're somewhere that lots and LOTS of violence by "normal people" standards will get you yelled at. Okay, for those of you who watched the video (or are lazy bastards and don't want to see what condensed awesome looks like), here's a summary of the goings-on. The director for The Dark Night made this video as a resume of sorts to "ask" Warner Brothers if they'll let him try his hand at a new movie rendition the Mortal Kombat series. Apparently, there's 2 main key points that are different in this from previous attempts; one, Scorpion's the main character of the movie. My mind was officially blown out of my ear sockets when I saw this, by the way. Two, they dropped the supernatural aspects of the Mortal Kombat universe from this one. I'm a little depressed about this one, but if they do good, then I don't care. Personally, I will damn near guarantee that if Warner Brothers DOESN'T hire this dude inside of a month, then the whole crew's completely bat-[cabbage]. Keep in mind that this was all done as a sales pitch, NOT a trailer for an existing movie.

You're a [puncture]. That was awesome. ^_^

Jeepers Creepers, where did you get those red eyes? Where did you get those fangs? Yeah, I kinda figured out there's a hidden image. However, I have no clue how to bring it out. I'm on Windows 7, by the way. EDIT: I got it. It looks more like the stereotypical "yandere" transformation rather than something truly scary to me, though. Although, that's scary in its own right, on occasion. And for those who don't know, yandere is a Japanese slang term for a chick whose both absolutely head over heels for someone and is completely psychotic. A few good examples would be in Mirai Nikki, Oniichan Control (VERY not safe for work), Karakasa no Saien, and School Days (most realistic manga I've seen). Don't read ANY of them if you're not ready to get your head messed with, especially Oniichan Control and School Days. You will know when you see them. These are all on mangafox.com.
-
I don't. What's so special about the pic? I see something a little off about the chick's mouth, but that's it, hombre. I also tried both looking at it in IE and the ctrl+a thing, nada.

The first dude to do it was pretty damn close, too. Only about 160 miles off on the (I think) diameter. Pretty good for just eyeballing the horizon, isn't it? Keep in mind this is before even telescopes.
-
I am willing to put hard cash on the CO of the dude who is in that dual machine gun video having shat bricks when he saw it. What sort of f*cking MORON would do that?!?!?! Looked cool as Hell, but still!
-
This guy has officially earned my respect as a human being. Were I at one of the funerals that these "people" protest at, I can guarantee that I would not have the self control to keep from making sure at least one of these demonic bastards doesn't leave that place in any way but in either a stretcher or a body bag. Thank God that these people are smart enough to stay away from West Virginia.

[bleep] me. Sideways. How in all the Hells did they justify making something that damn HUGE?!?! Seriously, this thing screams overkill in ways that I think no language on this planet can describe. Seriously and for [bleep]'s sake, WHAT were they thinking when this was on the drawing board? Damn. O_o;;
-
I remember this topic. I also got reminded of that little story I posted a couple pages ago in said topic, too. Damn, that was fun as Hell. ^_^ Still, though. Why in all the Hells did you bump a THREE YEAR OLD topic? For that matter, how did you even find it? This thing was probably buried back in the hundreds place or so. I know how some people got a ton of time on their hands, but DAMN, dude!

..... WHAT, exactly, is he denying about the 9/11 attacks? I find it very hard to believe that even HE would be stupid enough to think something that was broadcasted live on international television was faked, but I might be able to make sense of him if he thinks the thing was a rig-job. There's a lot of people in the country who subscribe to that particular opinion (and some of them are very convincing with their arguments), to be honest. Really, I'd like more info than just that. Still, though. Keep in mind that it IS Mahmoud Ahmadinnerjacket that we're speaking of; it's not like we're expecting anything all that intelligent from this guy. He's basically the Iranian Bush, as far as I can tell.

Zierro, think about it this way. Everyone has a certain level of resistance to this sort of thing; yours and mine are considerably higher than the rest of humanity. This girl might not have been so lucky. Being isolated and psychologically tortured tends to have an effect on people; that's a big part of what makes prison such a bad place. Without someone to back them up, some people crack under pressure like this. It's not always the same way, either; some just take themselves out, others have drastic personality changes (sometimes, even various versions of psychotic breaks), others say "Screw it" and turn the "school" that they were tormented in into a graveyard in any way they can. Yes, a certain level of responsibility lies on the person committing suicide; there's nobody else that's putting that knife to their throats physically. However, I (and a lot of other people as well, apparently) believe that the vast majority of the blame lies on the people who tormented the victim until they snapped. I still say that it's insulting to the victims to say that they just have to suck it up and move on. Again, not everyone can do that.
-
It's not so much the physical things they do that gets to people, it's how they get isolated and surrounded, like a slab of meat dropped in a shark tank. They feel as if they're alone, and won't ever get any sort of help. If it gets to the point that someone attempts to off themselves, it's usually because they were left in that state for a very long time. Surprisingly few people can cope with the feeling that they're viewed by all others as something to laugh at and kept locked away, like a circus freak in a cage. It's also why I get so pissed when I hear of cases like this; it's a simple thing for even one person to remove that feeling. All they need is to make it clear to the person being tormented that they've got backup. Why does nobody develop the balls to even do something as simple as this?
-
Oh, trust me, there's things even worse than this that are commonplace in West Virginia. Trust me, I've lived there all my life. I was just hoping the majority of America's stupid was concentrated in redneck hotspots such as this.

No direct proof, and they don't want it to seem like a knee-jerk reaction to appease the wolves at the gate. Well, either that or they're still having problems trying to even process this whole scenario. Either way, it's unfair to really expect the faculty to be able to do much. For one, they can't be around the kids the entire time, especially off of school grounds. Also, even if they could, there's only so much that a person of such a status can do in these situations. While it's unlikely that there weren't at least a few weak links in that particular chain, I don't think the blame for this falls solely on the faculty. The real culprits are, without a doubt, two groups. Firstly, the "girls" themselves. If they weren't such inhuman [wagon] then that girl might still be alive right now. Secondly, the students who saw the torment being laid on the victim and did nothing. More often than not in these cases, if even one person steps up to the plate, then the person enduring this won't feel so hopeless and abandoned that they'd view suicide as the best course of action. Perhaps if the little monsters who done this were to have been reprimanded by the students for their actions when it started, it wouldn't have ended in such a fashion.
