Except they were fun and enjoyable for many, not enough players are willing to play without some sort of reward to keep them alive.

These are such a [bleep]ing hassle to get these days, it's ridiculous. Nearly no one plays PC or ToG, the problem with CWars is obvious, grinding Fight Pits still works (but idk if you can do it solo anymore) and as far as I know, Soul Wars is dead. They are such good looking armour sets :( it's such a shame that so few people bother/want to get them. All I have is the tops :(((((( Yea, I got them in the first 3 weeks or so after they came out. Now you'd pretty much need to make your own groups.

At what point has a playstyle received enough attention and development that the focus can or should be shifted to other things? Skilling and PvM have gotten tons of updates catered to them, with umpteen bosses and skilling updates, while something like the Trouble Brewing rework has been mentioned for over 6 years now and nothing has been done at all. And when are we going to take on the last four Champions of Champions anyway? We could do well with a whole bunch of side bits-and-bobs like the trimmed reqs that XP chasers wouldn't need to touch, but would provide a good deal of playtime for those after a different type of playstyle. Sure, it'd be nice to have the 120 capes, as long as Jagex is also doing things to add content that caters to other playstyles. I am looking forward to the minigame reworks. Would also be interesting to maybe make minigame cape or something thats like comp but for minigames. I do think there needs to be a focus on other portions of the game. Would love more champ scrolls, and other content. I enjoyed getting the minigame hybrid armours. I just would like something to do while they work on this stuff and this seems like a quick project for ninja team.

Have comp (will be trimmed again once I reach final island chain), have party hat. What do you want rs to be about? It seems like minigames are mostly dead since they removed exp from pvp. Pvp still seems mostly dead. The friends I talk to on old school talk mainly about training and levelling. It seems like most players want them to be about the exp. If pker's want to come back I don't mind that, or if people want to play minigames thats fine. I wouldn't mind Jagex making pk'ing more attractive (I think mod pi is working on that) or making minigames more attractive (theres been some talk of minigame reworks, wish they hurry those up but I doubt those will be ninja team anyway). Just don't limit what people who don't subscribe to your own preferred playstyle can achieve. They need to make things more attractive and add more rewards to everything, not less.

I wouldn't mind that, but doubt they'd poll that if this failed. Willing to try to take what they're offering.

I don't know, I can only really speak for myself. I would vote down 120 skills if we had the capes, I wouldn't if capes failed. I'm not really the efficiency type, enjoying heist and games within my clan and such, but I'm also not the type that enjoys setting my own goals. I like aiming for pre-set goals, which is why my interest has been slowly fading. I'm really looking for any new very longterm goals that could be set. Prestige would have worked, but that got nuked, and now capes are up on offer. At least its something, and its something small that can just be created by ninja team, wouldn't delay any major content, wouldn't mess with other content in game, wouldn't mess with current highscores...it just seems like a minor thing for Jagex to add that would have no effect on most of the rest of the game.

Then make your own goals, but don't cut off goals for those who aren't the type to make our own. If anything the efficiency crowd seems good at making their own goals. They're the ones going for 200m's and such. Jagex hasn't polled 120 skills, they could easily honour these results and poll 120 skills since several on forums have said they won't vote for this because they want the skill levels to go to 120 and not just capes. You're aiming at the wrong target. You're equating these capes to 120 skills when there is currently no link between the two, the only thing that could join them is if this vote doesn't pass All this vote is about is 104m capes. Not levels. Defeating this poll won't have any effect on 120 levels.

You're missing the point. This is not just one person. Quite a few in the HLF community want not only capes but also levels. So it's indicative of a certain attitude. Secondly, it's in the view of some (including mine), the next part of the slippery slope. Let's say we have the 120 Cape polls, and it passes and they are added to the game. Then what? Will the efficiency crowd go away? Likely not. They will probably come back demanding that we give them levels and content to reward them for their effort. For people who don't like that sort of stuff, eventually we will be forced to train levels past 99 to unlock content. Eventually they will probably need to raise levels. There's also a big chunk of the game though that knows its still way too soon for that. Many skills still need complete reworks, or a lot more content to fill in the current levels. I don't think demand for level 120 skills will increase however just because the capes pass. If the capes fail then those who want 120 skills will still demand 120 skills, failing this vote will have no negative effect on that. The only thing I could see that failing this vote will do is add to the number of people who want 120 skills. I've almost got my comp trim cape back, I'd like some more items to go for in game and since prestige got torpedo'd, this seems the best chance of getting some new longterm goals. I'd prefer capes without 120 skills because like I said, there's still plenty that can/needs to be done with skills currently, however if I can't get capes without having new levels I would push for more levels because I need more goals and just exp doesn't cut it, there needs to be something I'm working towards. By voting this down, you're basically telling anyone that just wants the capes that they need to push for 120 skills in order to get them

??? So the only point of the game is to gain xp? Well in that case, let me point you to a relevant game. When you hit the cap there, you gain 1 xp. That way, you'll be busy for a while more. Meanwhile, I'll be trying my hand at some actual gameplay. Thats fine, but I doubt that most of the people who are going for exp now would instead start playing more minigames just because the exp was capped. A hard cap probably would chase a lot of people away from the game. I like minigames, I played them before I maxed and I played them after, I'd still play them if the new capes came out. However, removing goals from people, or leaving them with none is a good way to lose players. 104m exp capes would be good for player retention, and players that want to play minigames will still play them.

FAQ for upcoming cape poll by Mod Oliver http://[Use Quick Find Code]/a=13/c=3m-In2e0M44/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?16,17,129,65309399,goto,1 Hi all, I thought I'd post to answer a few of the questions floating around the forums concerning the upcoming Master cape poll mentioned by Mod Osborne in the 24 hour GameBlast livestream. Why are you polling this update?I think it’s fair to say that a portion of the community have wanted to see the full collection of Master capes in-game since the release of Dungeoneering; we’ve seen this through the various concepts online which have been created by you, the players. However, we weren’t sure if a majority were happy with the idea of creating high end goals that only target a certain type of player, as such we felt that polling the update would be an ideal solution. Would skills be increased to level 120 with this update? No; skills would not be raised to 120 with this update. Would we need to obtain the additional Master capes for Completionist cape requirements? There are no current plans for the new Master capes to tie in with any of the high level requirements for Completionist capes. Which skills would you be creating Master capes for?Every skill other than Dungeoneering, as it already exists. How would we obtain the Master capes?Players would need a 'virtual' level of 120 (104,273,167 XP) in a skill to unlock a Master cape. They would be sold by the existing skill masters for 120,000 GP each. Would XP rates be made faster to allow players to obtain the Master capes easier? No; XP rates would not be changed with this update to allow for these capes to become more easily obtainable. What would the capes look like? The new Master capes would look similar to the Dungeoneering master cape, very similar to concepts scattered across the internet which have been created by players. Would there be new emotes for each of the Master capes? No; there would not be new emotes with the capes, they would be released with the ability to perform the related 99 skillcape emote. What information can you tell us about the capes?- They would have the same stats as the existing skillcapes.- They would have a 'Boost' option for the specific skill when worn; the same as all skillcapes.- Each of the capes would be called: [skill name] master cape- The capes would be in-game items not cosmetic overrides, unless the owner decides to Keepsake it themselves. When is the poll coming? The poll will be up within the next few weeks and will require a majority vote to pass. The available options for players to choose between will be either 'Yes' or 'No' to the implementation of the capes. What other information can you give us about the update?- There are no current plans to introduce trimmed Master capes.- There are no current plans to introduce a 120-style Quest cape.- There are no current plans to introduce Milestone capes past 99.- There are no current plans to introduce 'virtual' levels to the HiScores. Feel free to comment with more related questions and we'll do our best to reply or update the original post with any extra information. Have fun everyone and when the time comes, make your vote count! :D - Oliver

I almost wonder if removing the exp cap completely would have the same effect that you want without cutting off the game for players who do like reqs, like prestige would have effectively done. If there is no exp cap then its really up to the player what they want to do, there's no end for players to chase after like 200m. Those who care about ranks could do that, and those who don't care about ranks wouldn't feel any pressure to get more exp after because there is no end point to reach.

Polls General Discussion
I voted for slayer tickets because there's not enough information for me to be comfortable voting for something that isn't temporary. If this is a temporary event and the reward will only be available during the event then I don't want anything really useful to come out of it permanently. I don't want players that miss the event to be permanently locked out from a useful reward. I know that this isn't necessarily the case. It could be like the ectoplasmator or warpriest armours which were both made available after their respective events were over. Or maybe the minigame will be permanent. But with what limited information we have I don't want to risk it.

One of a Kind will require: A Tale of Two Cats, The World Wakes, Missing Presumed Death, and Kings Ransom and seems like something extra if ROTM is also finished. Source: https://twitter.com/JagexRaven/status/436135446402187264

The majority of the Bible Belt refuses the evolution theory, just to mention. :P I voted for 138, as I think ALL levels should be factored to show "combat ability". 138 doesn't do any better than that than 200 though. Either way they're both pretty broken. I doubt the community will let Jagex fix them though so ultimately it doesn't matter.

Have comp. Only trim reqs I need now are last ports and ROT6 which I'm not sure I'll ever manage to get through, so I need more longterm goals. I need more stuff that is the length or longer of the cw games req, but preferably not connected to comp cape so no one gets all complainy. Thought Prestige was gonna be it but community sunk that.

"They want stuff for maxed people. They want guilds, rooms, xp, pets for people that are maxed." I'm really hoping that this stuff isn't, you've maxed so you earned this. I'd like it to be more "You've maxed so now you can start earning this. Maybe the guilds are open to maxed players and give you ways to earn the extra items. I want more longterm goals in the game beyond max/comp/trim.

04-Feb-2014 Treasure Hunter & Demon Drop Table Improvements
Whip drop rate has changed. From the F.A.Q. at http://[Use Quick Find Code]/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?15,16,222,65290258 "Q: Is the drop rate of the Abyssal Wand/Orb more common than, as common as or rarer than the whip? Mod Timbo: The drop rate of the Abyssal Wand and Orb is much rarer than that of the Abyssal Whip, however, I won’t be saying exactly how rare! On a related note, the Abyssal Whip was made rarer with this update too going from the previously announced 1/512 to now being 1/1024."

Tip.It Times - 2nd February 2014
Fair enough about the complainers on the forums, but even the best of updates have those. I know a lot of people that were deeply upset by the eoc changes that never even used the forums. As far as the "do one thing and do it right", I like that philosophy in theory but with the playerbase so split I don't see anyway to do that. After the terrible introduction of eoc, there are a large amount of players that even if it was perfect want absolutely nothing to do with it now. This is an emotional reaction of course but Jagex can't ignore emotional reactions and just pretend that their players are a bastion of cold, calculating, logic (I'll be the first to admit I over-react). On the other hand, a lot of people do really enjoy eoc since its introduction, who have stuck with it and see it generally on the right path and getting better with time. To take it away from them now after a year, after forcing them to get used to it, and them seeing benefits of it in the content they enjoy is also not really an option for Jagex. I think legacy is the only decent way forward that has any chance at uniting the playerbase again in the future. Ok, basically. Each of the 8 elf clans will focus on 2 skills. This means that only 16 skills will will be covered by those elf clans. Basically now this vote will decide the focus of one of the elf clans. The top voted skill will be one of that clans focuses and the runner-up will be the other one. I'm thinking its possible that the losing skills may not be covered by any of the elf clans. Also, I call myself a zarosian emissary or high priestess of zaros, not sure how that speaks of my ego but either way Hail Zaros!
