Now we have to define Immortaltity. Ive always known it to be that one can only die through being killed. Sickness does not affect you.
  2. Ray Bradbury is an American writer. I have just read Something wicked this way comes. It is an awesome book, with excellent themes. Another book would be the Dandelion Wine. Its set in the same location, and has a similar theme to the other book, but many other different themes as well. BTW, Something wicked this way comes is the only one i read, i just researched the other book. Something wicked this way comes is about two boys, a father, and an evil soul stealing carnival.

I dont know... I think i might... I've thought out many things this year so far (school year) and have come to the conclusion: People do bad stuff out of the fear of their future death. Edit: WTH? I meant to quite, and not post this... guess ill post it anyways... If i had forever to live... id give a little more back to the world. Since i dont have forever, i try and use my time preciously.
  4. How can you get it so soon :? im lucky:) Details!!!!!!!! please....
  5. Ummmm im not stealing or anything (Yes i am, but ignore it!) But i saw a movie once called "Pay it forward". The ideology behind this is that you do a small favour for three people. These favours cant just be like helping them do what every daily task they want, its more of a life changing favours. The problem though is people seem to think life changing means huge. But actually, the smallest things can make the biggest difference. Edit: After you help the first three, you tell them about this, and then they go ahead and do three more favours. Through his, the whole world could be helped.

I agree, that is a good way to teach, but as ive learned from the class, some teaching styles are better suited to certain types of class types. Doing that is almost impossible, as it is a chore to make the kids do the work as you have to go and breath down their necks basically to make them do what you want. Its good to give them some alone time, but the problem is that they end up talking and being off topic so much, that getting them on topic again is too damn hard. Not to mention they wont know what they are doing because they talked so much.

:? keep in mind people i got about 15 minutes, and the lesson plan and worksheet is due tomorrow... i just found out yesterday the date of my presentation. Edit: Id like to say all your suggestions are helpful and i would do them, except i only have limited resources, and the students will probably find my writing (Im a terrible writer) more funny then any jokes i make. I plan to be the fun/funny teacher when i grow up though.

Thanks for the Suggestion. The test will be about a week later, or not at all. It will definitely be on the exam, but we dont have enough time probably to make a test. The school has screwed with this class alot (1 teacher changed at the beginning of the semester, and the last teacher is now gone due to surgery) and the class is probably the hardest class ever to teach. At this point, its better that they get their credit rather then even knowing it. None of them seem to actually care about science, and would rather go do random crap then even be in the class room.

:o Very very cool! Are you aiming for elementry, middle, or highschool?

I also meant to say that these Students probably have an initiative level that would equal the amount of o2 in space. From past experiences ive seen the class respond well to the first part of the lesson, but the later part is kinda experimental. I could try jokes... but i doubt they will care or know enough to even pay attention to them.

Well then, this post serves two purposes. One discussion, and one a favour. First the discussion part. Has anyone else here wanted to become a teacher? I've wanted to be a science teacher for a highschool for the past 5 years. I have set my whole career on this future, and know how to make it happen. And if anyone else isnt keen on being a teacher, what do you think of them, and their job in todays society? Now for the favour part. I take a peer tutoring class in which i am a "Mini Me" teacher. WE have to do a bunch of stuff that a teacher does, just not the administrative stuff. So my final project is coming up this week, and that is to teach a lesson in the class. One main thing about this though is that a lesson plan must be created. So i have created one and am asking all of you to comment on it. Keep in mind that this lesson only has to last for about 15 minutes, and that this is a grade 9 applied class that has the attention span of a gold fish. (Yes yes this is a science class...not a sience class)
  12. Nothing special planned. Looks like im flying solo for awhile.
  13. Im just waiting for some kid to tell me "There is no spoon"

  15. You will need the original copy of WoW to use the Burning Crusade. The special edition just comes with two copy's of the BC (one on cd and the other on DVD) I dont know really how to answer the question on the economy. Ive played only for a few months, and it seems to me that the economy is fine, and everyone is happy with prices. Most people end up not even buying much of anything in game unless they got a couple extra gold to throw around. Most of the time people get their equipment from the drops off monsters. Its not as hard to get a rare in the game as in RS.
  16. I would have to say, WoW would be your best bet. I costs the about the same as any other MMORPG, and thats about 15$ a month. There is a huge world to explore, not to mention a huge population of players. There are many things to do in the game, more then most games. Also, the PvP is also a good deal in the game. The game mostly revolves around the events after the third war, and the two factions (horde and alliance) are still kinda at war (Even if there is a truce). You can go places and have battles in the battle grounds (Like castle wars) or just go out into the world and kill the opposite faction. This also brings up a good point that the quests and basic story are also really good. Id also like to point out there is only 1 expansion pack (Coming out in about 1 week) and most other games have about 3-4 expansion out already (FFXI, Guild wars.) This should cut down on the costs alot more then other games. (WoW its self right now is about 20$ :P)
  17. From what I've been told, that is false. One of my mom's good friends was cleaning her son's ear with a Q-Tip when he squirmed and it ruptured his ear drum. He had hard hearing in the ear for a while, but it eventually fixed itself and there is no permanent damage, and if there is it is very little. Though yours may end up differently, people don't need do be spreading BS how it takes years or never. Oh im, sorry if i even stated in my post that i wasnt 100% sure, it was just what i was told. Now i have gone to a legit source and found the answer. http://www.nyee.edu/faqlist.html?tablename=faq&key=73&print=

Ok i have a USB flash drive, and im using windows 98. I just reformatted this computer about 4 days ago, and before that, i could get it to work. I have the driver for it, and have installed it probably 3 times... But when i go to my computer to check out the drive, it doesn't appear Edit: problem fixed, close please
  19. Im not a doctor, and i dont know for 100%, but from what ive been told... Ear drums dont grow back, and if they do, it takes many many years.. You could have bad hearing for the rest of your life...
  20. ^Ergo i think we have our second tip: Don't be spammy,as it just is degrading to the whole thread (Unless the thread is goofy...)
  21. I think point 1 of a quality thread can be agreed on by everyone: No leet speak or over use of smilies. Also some good spelling and grammar can help. (This is not a debate thread, no calling me a hypocrite :P )
  22. I would beg to differ. Adam and I are having a wonderful debate in the video games subforum thread. Are you talking specifically about the lack of religious threads? Because as far as i know, there is no ban on threads with potential disagreement. Also, intarweb i agree with you on the favourits topics. I find it entertaining to read over the thoughts and likes and dislikes of my fellow Tip. iters.
  23. So in other words, someone who just brings forward a topic and basically plays the devils advocate? This could be a factor, but then again, that would change with everyone because as far as i know, there are many people who think certain people are smart and others who think their not. Ergo this would mean the definition of a quality post would be subjective, yet as far as i know, a definition is objective.... Not to mention, are you saying this out of experience in previous boards? Or are you saying this perhaps because you used to come here under a different name?
  24. Well it seems that a big issue right now is quality threads, which leads me to ask the question: What exactly is a quality thread? What makes a thread so good, and so respectable that anything else is considered less then quality? I'm going to question everyone that posts here on what they think, and see if we can come up with an universal definition.
