A band that focuses their music and lyrics on a particular concept. Like a concept album, but applied to the whole band I suppose.
  2. I don't see how you could possibly jump to that conclusion.

They sound great. I think I'd like them better with more doomy passages though, and perhaps with some black metal vocals as well. I think they have the potential to produce the sound of impending doom particularly well, but they don't explore it enough.
  4. That sounds awesome. There's something about the fury of natural events that I find appealing. I can't really put my finger on it, but that's just something I'd love to see. Anyway, If you're ever in SE Queensland, check out some of the sand islands in Moreton Bay - North Stradbroke and Moreton Island particularly.
  5. That looks horrible. What's the deal with the part at the back?
  6. None So Vile by Cryptopsy (album) I can't believe I could have misjudged this album so badly... I can't fault it, it's brilliant.
  7. I can vouch for that. There was a point where my hair came down to my chest. At the time, I loved it (in fact I even remember chastising anyone with short hair) but after I got it cut I didn't know why I even had it long in the first place. My hair's about an inch now and I think it's great. It prevents your head from being too hot in the summer, it doesn't get in your face while you sleep, junk won't get in your hair, you don't need to groom it, it won't slap you during a windy day, if it gets wet it isn't that big of a deal, smaller chance of getting lice, and best of all people get to see your face. I feel bad for women. Straight women at least. I'll support that sentiment as well. I used to have long hair but got it cut short again. It's far, far easier having it short for all the reasons already mentioned. It's just way easier to manage and means one less hassle to deal with every day.
  8. I was never much of a fan of Cryptopsy though. Edit: I listend to None So Vile Again and changed my mind. It's a great album.
  9. The Infamous by Mobb Deep (album). Great stuff.
  10. Wow, Aesop Rock is awesome, thanks aquarius. :)
  11. I tried The Low End Theory, but didn't get into it for some reason. Having said that, I absolutely love the idea of Jazz elements in Hip-Hop, and will definitely check out some of these recommendations. Thanks. Edit: Venomai, perhaps you could help.. I absolutely love the sampling used in Illmatic by Nas. Any of these albums similar to that style?
  12. Great picks with Terrorizer (Pete Sandoval is unbelievable on that album) and Death.
  13. Yeah, they're excellent. I have to check out more of their stuff, though.
  14. Yeah, gauper I recommend you check out some interviews of the guys from Cannibal Corpse on YouTube. They're normal guys, some with families and George Fisher (vocalist) is a WoW nerd. They definitely do it just for shock value, the same reason why people make horror movies. As for how people could like this music, it's an acquired taste. Originally I didn't see anything appealing in it, but Death lured me in and my passion for it has slowly grown ever since.
  15. A lot of stories in the Bible are metaphors, especially the New Testament, so Jesus' ascension may or may not literally happened. Ascension can have a lot of different meanings. And yes I believe heaven is in the supernatural "realm" or whatever, I was just stirring up different possibilities, as many religions have different, but still ultimately similar, versions/locations of an after life and I think they are interesting to think about. You could look at it that way, but a lot of people think Jesus ascended bodily into heaven. I'm pretty sure that's not a metaphor any more than a virgin birth or ressurrection from the dead is. If you don't believe that Jesus actually physically ascended, then my argument isn't with you.
  16. Why would anyone want to listen to rap then? Why would anyone want to watch horror movies, or read a horror novel? I find the horror movie analogy a particularly useful one. To bring up another point, it's not like the actors/director of a horror movie actually endorse zombies eating people's brains. To gauper, I like death metal because of the music. To be honest I don't read the lyrics that often.
  17. Why not? It's a great song.
  18. Well, it doesn't necessarily mean it's just right up there in the clouds. Look up and you will see the whole big universe out there. Maybe it's somewhere out there? Or maybe it's in a separate dimension all together. Who knows. I can't imagine heaven in a gigantic hole in the ground. I suspect the belief in ascension is because people back in those times literally believed that heaven was in the sky. Now that we know it's not, there's no reason why Jesus would have ascended, is there? You may argue that heaven is in the universe somewhere, but, apart from having no evidence whatsoever, that's at odds with Christian belief I would have thought. Don't you guys believe that heaven is supernatural? The idea that you would need to go in a direction to get there just seems silly.
  19. B. It's not mine and I wouldn't want someone else to steal my wallet should I lose it.

If only that were true. I had a feeling the wording would give the wrong impression there.. I meant that it should apply equally, sorry. Obviously it doesn't.
  21. warri0r45 replied to JtotheP's topic in Off-Topic
As others have said, the concept sounds completely unfair and they shouldn't exist. The law applies to everyone equally, no exceptions.
  22. I don't think so. I'll check it out now.
  23. Don't know many of them, but pretty cool list anyway. I'll have to check some of them out. Love Maudlin of the Well and Alice In Chains.
  24. Well, that picure might give a good point if the artist had ever read the Bible. Jesus died, but then was resurrected, thus conquering death. After the resurrection, he ascended to heaven; never actually dieing.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_of_Jesus. So if you take it literally, he didn't actually die. At least not in the way we know it. As for what created God; he has always been. Doesn't make sense? How about these similar questions: How big is the universe? If there is a boundary, what's on the other side? What was there before the big bang? What created the stuff in the big bang? What caused the big bang was made of? Nobody really knows and maybe nobody ever will. Here's something I've always wanted to ask a Christian - why an ascension at all? Is heaven supposed to be in the sky?

Can't wait to see it, I'll probably go sometime next week.
