Swine Flu (H1N1 Strain) Reaches Level 6 - Official Pandemic
Not true. Most of the deaths have been young, healthy adults. Contrary to regular flu, it doesn't seem to affect the elderly as much. [1] Although the H1N1 is most common in young adults, more life-threatening cases appear in adults ages 30-50. Good video, thanks.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
On one level, yes, but at the same time you can reverse bigoted opinions and become more open minded to alternate lifestyles. Before I really started thinking about homosexuality and doing some research into it, I thought it was pretty gross too. Now that I know a bit about it and have some empathy for homosexuals, I don't think anything of it.

Ensiferum or the other bands? I don't actually know ensiferum. I never got into Behemoth or Dying Fetus, I know a bit of Origin, Decrepit Birth (they're both pretty good), beneath the massacre and born of osiris (mostly boring). I quite like Necrophagist and I love Suffocation, but I don't see Suffocation on the poster so...? I don't know the other bands. It would probably be best to check out their respective myspace pages to see what you think. There will definitely be some stuff on youtube as well.

Nice! Love the atmosphere of that song. As for me, I don't usually just listen to individual songs, but what the hell. Blessed by Decapitated

Swine Flu (H1N1 Strain) Reaches Level 6 - Official Pandemic
It was always called H1N1, and "swine flu" is technically inaccurate because it has components of human and avian flu in it as well. Given how people have overreacted buy avoiding pork products (thousands of pigs were even slaughtered in Egypt, from memory) when you can't get swine flu from them, it's prefectly reasonable to call it H1N1 instead.

Swine Flu (H1N1 Strain) Reaches Level 6 - Official Pandemic
Trapical covered things quite nicely. The thing I've found interesting following the news and doing a little research is that it seems to affect mostly healthy young adults, not the elderly (which is a major risk group for the regular flu). As trapical said, there's always the chance that it could recombine with a different flu strain or mutate, which could make it more virulent come the next flu season. We're currently in our flu season at the moment, and Australia's swine flu rate is fast becoming one of the highest in the world, so it's important to monitor the progression of the disease and any changes here in Australia. It could be a sign of what's to come next season in the northern hemisphere. At this stage I think all the "panic" (for want of a better term) is to do with covering all of our bases because we're not fully aware of how this strain might affect the population. We have some information coming in, and at least one study has suggested most of the markers for virulence that were seen in the Spanish Flu aren't present in swine flu, but still, it's worth keeping an eye on.

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
I'm looking through a few of the things you guys mentioned and there definitely looks like something is wrong here. I'll have to keep looking through this later on.

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
Do you believe it was? All I'm reading at the moment is some funny business with shutting down facebook/texting services. It's a far cry from flat out election rigging, though. From what I could tell based on the election polls, there was little to indicate that the result seen was surprising. I also get the impression that the polls are mostly unreliable in the first place, so I don't see any evidence at this stage that the elections were rigged.

I really don't know what to make of it. Judging by the wiki page, there's a fair bit of variability between these opinion polls - certainly nothing I could draw a firm conclusion about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_pr ... nion_polls Could it just be sour grapes from Mousavi supporters?

Best Song Covers EVER!
I haven't even heard the original to be honest, but Jeff Buckley does that song very well. My votes go for Faith No More's rendition of Easy and War Pigs. Both excellent covers.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Wow worst false analogy ever. No, people don't have the direct right to dictate who someone can love because a society decides what is wrong and what is right. There are only a few things that are innately wrong because at some point it was the society that decided that. At this point, I would say that society still views homosexuality as wrong. In a natural sense, homosexuality is wrong because all living things reproduce and reproduction is one of the most fundamental characteristics of living things. Since homesexuals still havn't found a way to reproduce with their same-sex partner, obviously it is wrong in a biological sense. It is hard to impossible to argue that it is not "wrong" or imperfect in a biological sense. Even if other species practice some homosexuality, that is still wrong. Luckily if it is in fact genetic, as some people want to claim, natural selection will take care of that, which makes it wrong because it will be eliminated. However, people have the right to cast judgement just how you cast judgement on those people who oppose your views. You can't tell someone they can't cast judgement, that's just stupid. Homosexuality isn't conducive to reproduction, but that doesn't make it "wrong". Remember, science doesn't make claims of morality or get into calling things "right" or "wrong", so it's not correct to label homosexuality in that way. Biologically speaking, it would do good for males to start raping every female they see, but it's not "right" just because it's conducive to survival. Having said that, there is a theory to explain the survival of homosexual behaviour in populations counter-intuitive to what we would expect given natural selection. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 204459.htm It's called sexually antagonistic selection, and it involves a reproductive advantage in females which outweighs the reproductive harm in males. Things aren't always as black and white as they may seem.

Rocco, you're as bad as creationists at this point - all you're doing to insisting your point by posting random links and not engaging in any rational discussion whatsoever.

Am I a murderer?
I originally took what you said to mean that you saw a different bunny all together and kicked it for no reason at all. You edited your post, so there's no point to the argument any more. But still, you should be more careful with your words - I'm clearly not the only one who interpreted your post as I did.

Things that annoy the hell out of you
People who have this self-deprecating "you're flaming me" attitude when they're not being insulted at all.

Am I a murderer?
I wrote it wrong... I didn't realize the other was bleeding, I thought it was laying down...so I nudged it in order to see if it was alive...I didn't really understand why I was doing it though...until the thing started flailing...then I understood I why...and I notticed the blood and crap and that's when I almost threw up. When writing "kicked" I meant "nudged" for the hell of it. That's obviously vastly different. You should choose your words more carefully in the future.

How do you feel about cats killing small animals for the hell of it? It's also needless, unless they are doing it for food which is a rare case since house cats usually have access to a food dish. I don't think what he did was right either but calling it disgusting makes him sound evil. I don't know whether cats will do something like that just for the hell of it. Maybe in it's mind the animal is a threat? Maybe the cat wanted an extra meal? - my dog will eat a rat even though it gets fed every day. Either way, my opinion remains the same. It's completely needless and disgusting for him to kick an animal for the hell of it.

Living
First of all, I have to say I'm sorry for you and I hope you find something to live for soon. As for me, I love life. It may sound cheesy, but I just have so much to live for. I've almost finished my education and I'll be in the job market next year (or the end of this year, perhaps). I'm really interested to see what's in store for me and to make a career out of my work. Other dreams I have are to travel, and perhaps to even start my own band. :) Goals and dreams aside, I just love the "mundane" daily things that make me happy - music, friends, games, videos, comedy, etc. There's really no point in wanting to end it or belaboring the point that this existence may seem inconsequential in the bigger picture, because it's not going to help your situation any. To throw in another cliche, life is what you make it, and there is a lot of reward that comes with living a good life. Enjoy it! Find something that interests you life sport, music, science, news/politics, etc, and I'm sure your view will change for the better.

5 Year Old Drowned in North Carolina
Don't feel bad, I feel the same way. Of course it's tragic whenever someone does, but when you hear about it on the news every night you can't truly feel for every death that you ever hear about. It's just that we become desensitised when exposed to so much information.

Am I a murderer?
While you may not have noticed them originally, kicking one "for the hell of it" is quite sick. I find that kind of behaviour - absolutely needless abuse - disgusting.
