  1. implemented?
  2. Katanas are made by steel-folding, a technique developed because japan has crappy quality steek naturally. They were making the best of a bad situation. However, a good quality old katana can be reasonably light and much better balanced than a European sword.
  3. Protection on by default would be ok, as long as you could switch it off. As I said, it's not jagex's job to protect you from yourself, it's yours, but it would be a nice gesture on their part. They have already created the confirmation screen. If you choose not to read it, it's not their fault.
  4. In traditional rpgs, there were 4 or 5 character classes that would make up an adventuriny party: Warrior, Ranger, Wizard, Priest, Rogue (well, originally Thief, but some unmentionable parental groups took exception to their kids having fun pretending to be thieves). It looks like Jagex was originally trying to somewhat mirror that type of adventuring party, sans the rogue (thief) due to the target audience, but couldn't figure out how to work in a class with healing, and priest-classes are kinda useless without either healing or a good offensive weapon or set of spells.
  5. It's not Jagex's job to protect people from their own stupidity.
  6. Clan halls are something that could become a huge money sink in RuneScape, plus become a showcase for clans to brag and show off. There would be rent, not deeds, which would be charges on 1) the land itself and 2) the building(s) on it, depending on how complex they were. For example, the Warbling Idiots would buy a 1 acre plot somewhere and throw down a Hall, a Bank, a Furnace and an Anvil, for example. They could design the look by using preset parts, vaguely the way bulding is done in the Sims. A more formal clan system would need to be implemented, possibly with a special clan channel that only clan members could talk on. There would be a clan bank account, and members would donate or pay does, whatever, based on how the clan was set up. The weekly or monthly rent would be charged from that. If the clan could not make its payments, the land would go into debt status, and if this went on for too long, the land would be lost and go back up for sale. A bit complex, but similar things have been done.
  7. Metal bolas would be impossible to use, they would have to be made from various woods. Crafting would be much more appropriate a skill for making the weights, not all ranged weapons are made using fletching (knives are smithed). http://home.cogeco.ca/~illuminati/bolas.htm
  8. Chess would be cool. Using pieces made from rs monsters. Goblins for pawns :) Or maybe noobs for pawns
  9. Chop em till you throw up, then keep choppin'. Take a knife with you and cut em into arrow shafts. Keep em and use em, or sell em. If that's what you want to do. I gained several high levels of wc from normal logs, chopped specifically to make arrow shafts, and I even got something I needed out of them anyway (namely the arrow shafts).
  10. Message me in game, I have more Marrentil than you can shake a stick at.
  11. The mod had been joking that he would ban the guy in the ghost disguise for "being annoying on holy ground" or something like that.
  12. OMG Let this thread die! :P :P :P Seriously, I don't prefer any one town, because each one has some good things in it. Relekka: Furnace and anvil in the same town but kinda useless because there is no bank, but it does have the ability to fish, then cook the fish in people's houses without needing an axe, wood or tinderbox, then steal from the people until you're out of food and repeat. Barbarian Outpost: Best agility training in the 35-45 range. Tree Gnome Stronghold: Most awesome mine in the game, 2 banks, gnomish spirits, gnomish cooking, the ONLY place to train to 25 agility without throwing up from tedium, GNOMEBALL!, gliders, spirit trees, etc. etc. etc. I could go on, but I am waiting for a ride.
  13. I want Engineering so I can build a pickup truck to haul my coal in  8)
  14. omg I almost peed my panties reading this
  15. The point of runescape is obviously something you don't understand. Go away and let us play our game in peace. :P
  16. There should be a cost to it, and you should only get a portion of the original materials back. For example, reducing items that you get more than one of from a single bar of metal would require at least double the quantity that you get, so 30 or more arrows would become 1 bar. Items that are 1-for-1 would require two or more to be reduced, for example you would need 2 or 3 swords to make 1 bar. Items that are made from more than one bar would yield less than was originally used to produce them, so a platebody would give you only 2 or 3 bars. For each bar that you received from this process, you would have to use something up, at least for the higher metals. Perhaps coal, since that is used to smelt them in the first place, but not quite as much since they are pure now. So steel would maybe use 1 coal to melt down per bar, mithril 2 coal, addy 3 coal and rune 4 coal. You could even implement this using the Superheat Item spell, it would work the same regardless but use up as many runes as making the same sort of bar from runes.
  17. Really? I wouldn't have known if you hadn't told me. I wish I could speak other languages than English (programming languages don't count :) ).
  18. Learn to turn off caps lock, spell and use proper grammar and punctuation and I may actually read beyond the first 3 words of your posts.
  19. Still need platebody, boots, gauntlets, claws.
  20. I just want enough time to go have a pee or make a coffee while my character is woodcutting.
  21. You can change your jpeg compression values, but I was hard pressed to create a graphic that was 300x150 and larger that 30KB when saved as a jpg file. basically it required a lot of visual "noise" with a lot of shades of different colours, something that would be quite hard to compress.
  22. It would be kinda cool if you could set up a "shop" (or more like a vending machine) where you could stick your junk...err....extra stuff and set a price, and even if you were logged off people could come and buy your stuff. Then you could post a message here saying "ok I got these things for sale at these prices, at stall 17 in Lumbridge on world 23."

  24. What's so awful about farming? It benefits lots of other skills. It may benefit other skills but it is the most poorly implemented idea in ANY mmorpg I have seen to date. it forces you to sit around for a half hour and watch your plants grow (average) Jagex made a really stupid mistake with the timeing on it. They should have either had plants take a few days and had a VERY low chance of getting sick, or 15 minutes MAX. You must have seen very few MMORPGs. You must also not have done much farming, I have no trouble maintaining all 4 plots at both Ardougne and Catherby at the same time, little trouble if I add Port Phantasmys, and only moderate difficulty if I try to maintain all 4 sets of 4 plots at once. Keeping it all going most certainly does not force you to sit around at all, it keeps you more busy than pretty much anything else in rs. Add maintaining 8 tree plots between wood and fruit (or more, if you can grow Calquats and Spirit Trees) and you will be lucky to be able to keep up, and raking in the xp while you're at it. Before you put something down, perhaps you should try learning how to do it right.
