Creative, I'll give you that.

Forrest Whitaker entirely deserved that :) I think he's overlooked as an actor, but the quality of his work speaks for itself.

If you had 1,000 dollars, what would you buy?

I'd buy an MCAT readiness course :D -
Thanks Militaris. I have upgraded the browser and hopefully this will resolve itself. I never considered it being the hard drive, but that's a possibility.

It's always on my table.

And another great contribution to this topic. No more ideas from anyone?

Linking to IE7 is hinting at using Firefox? :? Please step away from your computer and rip the plug from the wall. ---------- Does the fan issues appear on static HTML pages (No flash/dynamic junk)? Is Opera using any funky amount of CPU time after those few hours? :? Flash ads for example running constantly could be using enough CPU time to cause it to heat up. Just a wild guess since nobody else has asked or has any other ideas. No particular website triggers it. Only after Opera has been open for a while does it begin to whir loudly. My laptop is 1.6 gHz with 1 GB of RAM, where Opera takes about 60,000K of memory on average.

Only with Opera, and I have already done so Mercifull.

Anyone have an idea other than "Switch to Firefox?" :P ?

I have been having this problem the last couple of weeks and I can't for the life of me figure it out. I have Opera (9.02) and it has always run just fine for me. However, the past couple of weeks, after Opera has been turned on for a few hours, my laptop fan begins to whir incredibly loud, as though my laptop is overheating and it was going into overdrive to cool it down. Whenever I exit Opera after that, almost immediately, the fan goes back to normal volume and everything seems okay. Is there anything I could do to fix this? I am currently running on Windows XP (SP2), with Opera v.9.02. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite R25. I have run my own virus scanners and come up with nothing. Here is my Hijackthis log, if it helps: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 8:21:54 PM, on 2/5/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.5730.0011) I wouldn't mind going to Columbia or John's Hopkins University for my undergrand or medical school if it comes down to that :D But it's so expensive!

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, however, the man who can do computations in his head faster than any calculator (I forget his name) has this ability, apparently. I was watching a National Geographic episode once and when asked "how he does it" his response was that he saw certain colors (I believe?) or images in association with each number. It's an amazing ability, that's for sure :D

Nostradamus precited a lot of things, too. Anyone can throw a bunch of things at the wall and see what sticks.

Well, with Accutane, probably the most heavy-duty medication for acne, doctors do regular blood tests to monitor cholesterol, liver function, etc. My doctor tells me that she has never had a patient with liver problems since she has been prescribing this. However, a lot of the medications may cause GI problems like acid reflux and heartburn.

Wouldn't that sting? I used to use toothpaste on my spots back when I used to get them, just apply some to the spot before you go to bed and when you wake up, there's no redness and it has been lowered. It tingles, but doesn't hurt. I would suggest going to the doctor, if you are a girl there's a form of the contraceptive pill that you can go on, it's called something beginning with a "d"... Otherwise he can prescribe like a roll-on thing to put on your face, or pills called "tetra...something or other...". Yeah um not too clear on names as I have never used them, but my sister has an acne problem on her back and I'm just trying to recall what she uses! But so far, the contraceptive pill has been most beneficial to her. She was probably taking Demulen, but many other forms of contraceptives are said to work but not as affectively as Accutane, or so I have been told. There's actually contraceptives that can cause acne to worsen, and those are the ones with low estrogen like Loestrin. Oh, the "tetra" is probably tetracycline.

Yep, that's pretty much all Minocycline is. Minocycline is not retinol (I thought?), but is broad range antibiotic used to treat bacterial based (infections) acne. Is retinol really a major component in antibiotics? With Accutane, instead of fighting the cause of the acne, it targets the oil glands with lots of retinol by making them inactive and, in turn, "atrophying" them to the point where they shrink and become relatively inactive. No oil gland activity, no acne.

That's some intense stuff.... Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that it causes birth defects in children, so men and women must use at least two forms of contraceptives to ensure that no procreation happens. It's actually government regulated through the iPledge system. And this stuff is legal? Sounds pretty potent. Is there any specific chemical in it that causes all that stuff or just everything combined? It's a high dosage of retin-A (Vitamin A). We take vitamin A in every day, but in high concentrated dosages such as this there are some side effects to the body.

Yes, that is what they claim, but there is really no depression associated with Accutane. In fact, recently there has been a study which reported no findings that linked depression to Accutane. The reason the "depression" warning was first introduced in the late 1990s/early 2000 was because Rep. Bart Stupak's son killed himself and his father believed it was because of the medication he was taking. He felt it necessary to make it a personal vendetta to add the "depression" side-effect to the medication. What many neglected to mention was that his son was a constant drug/alcohol abuser, so there goes that. This is a heavy-duty drug, just as Indy said, though. For men it is much easier to take than women, who have to have a pregnancy test and wait one month before taking it, and who have to take blood tests every month to monitor your body. There is heavy dryness involved, along with possible rashes, back pain, headaches, nose bleeds, hair loss, and a plethora of other symptoms. This is the sort of "last resort" when it comes to acne treatment but it's a 50% chance it will work. The way acne medication is usually prescribed is by giving antibiotics first such as Tetracycline, Erythromycin, and Minocycline. If that doesn't work, then it's onto topical medications of the same form of antibiotic. There's really no over-the-counter medication or solution which will be as effective as prescription. Benzoyl peroxide seems to help if you apply it regularly. Just be aware that acne is genetic and hormonal, so food, stress, and such things do not affect it (or at least there have been no findings of it). You will grow out of it, but if you want a quick fix, you won't really find one. Each of these medications are taken over months at a time until you see an effect.

Haha, when I was typing it up I was just thinking of the most memorable ones that he has done recently. I have never seen his older ones, nor the TV shows he has done in England (but I certainly would love to!). @Futurama I'm not sure how it pales in comparison to Diagnosis Murder since I have never seen the show.

I'm really surprised that the TV show House, MD has not been discussed here yet considering it has such a huge fan following. Starring British actor Hugh Laurie from such popular movies as Stuart Little & The Man in the Iron Mask as the cunning nonconformist doctor, Gregory House, whose task is to unravel the most enigmatic medical mysteries with his team of interns starring Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer & Jennifer Morrison. The show is well into its third season and just getting jucier! I think the reason the show stays so fresh is because it keeps its focus on the medical conundrums while also throwing in each of the doctors' lives into the mix. Even the most novice of viewers can watch the show and enjoy the medical marvels without losing themselves in the language. Of course, Laurie's character is what brings the crowds in to watch. His nonchalant demeanor and quips which have no restraints add zest to what could just be another soap-operaesque medical show if it were not for him. Naturally, my words do no justice, so check it out for yourself! Am I one of the few who enjoy this show, here?

Mine is still up but I rarely play (Rs2 or RSC for that matter :P). Oh yeah, level 101 with 1459 total just like it was on the last day of RSC :)

Well, you will be happy to know that in college you don't have to worry about the extra credit issue because there is no such thing (at least in the courses I have taken so far). However, this does not mean that corruption is nonexistent. Things like the curve make up for the extra credit and basically gives everyone a boost, even those who obviously do not deserve it. I have also found that 50% of whether or not you get an A, B or C is based on the professor you get and I am not exaggerating. For instance, I took the same calculus course as my roomate last semester and we had two different instructors. At my university, there is a strict code forbidding curving in the math and physics department, something which my instructor took very seriously. However, my friends' instructor ended up curving some of the tests and such, boosting his class' grades. Things like this should not be allowed at this level, but it is inevitable to say the least. I don't see this as such a prevalent issue in middle school or elementary school because, at that level, it cannot prevent you from getting into a university of your choice or prevent you from achieving something. However, it does get more serious as you get up because grades do matter and can make all the difference in getting a scholarship, job, etc. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that even with a strict curriculum corruption is bound to happen because instructors have things like tenure and distinction over a student. Even reporting it will, most likely, not make a difference with what the professor does next time unless there is a mass of people who come together and stand up. However, a lot of people, myself included, are hesitant in doing so for a wide array of reasons.
