Acne

Featured Replies

Ok so I'm like everyother teen out there i have acne...no I don't struggle with it like all the commericals talk about I just have it. I use to struggle with it all the stupid products that spent me hard earn cash all just washed down the drain not doing any good. I use the acne products and the only thing that keep me using them without getting real results was the fear my acne would be worse if i quit using them. Well its a little worse but not by much. Anyways i have a point to this and that is has anyone found a product that works. I mean now you have no acne what so ever? I'm tired of watching these false adds and now I'm hearing even proactive doesnt work! well i was going to spend a lot for that but for now I won't poor my money down the drain.

Lucky for me, I don't have an acne problem! ::'

I find those things don't really work. I go to my doctor and ask for prescription for something that contains benzoyl peroxide, I think or something like that. Its a cream u put on your acne and u let it rest overnight. It's very helpful.

Get ispyrol (rubbing) alcohol and a cotton ball thing and dip the cotton in the rubbing alcohol and apply it to your acne spots. Its good for acne on your forehead but im not shure how safe it is around the eyes and mouth.

It doesnt eliminate it though it just helps. Id reccomend a medication like unknownmasterofnothing said.

I got this benzoyl peroxide soap. It works pretty good. I also use this cream that the dermatologist perscribed. But, thank god I only have a minor case of it.

I find that shaving cream subdues the acne. (No, I do not put it on my forehead) ;)

wash your face with soap and it will get all the oily stuff off, just keep it clean.

Seriously, Proactive works, it's just not cheap.

It's pretty good. After one or two days, you'll see results.

I think Proactiv only works for certain people, but I dont know why. My sister used to use it but it would only make her break-out so it obviously wasnt good for her.

But one time I had let my acne do what it wanted for a month or so, then started using proactiv, and it made a really noticable difference for me in 3 days. I think it all just depends on what your skin "likes". Oh and for some reason proactiv makes my skin itch and burn, its really hard to ignore it.

So... I guess just use something cheap like Clearasil, or put toothpaste on your pimples.. I've seen it on a show and wasnt sure if it worked, buy my sister tried it and she said it worked.....

This is my original signature. You can't touch this.

Proactiv is picky about how it's used, if you apply it just slightly wrong, at least from my experience, it seems to not work. :-k

Gattree, if you're Canadian (or live in a country with free healthcare), I suggest going to your doctor and getting a prescription for Minocycline (of course, ask if it is safe for you first). It is an antibiotic used to treat acne, and though it takes one to two months to take effect (as it is an antibiotic), it is extremely effective once it kicks in. However, it is fairly expensive (~$2/pill, and you take one to two pills daily) so if you live in a country that does not pay for your medicine it probably isn't worth it.

I took it for a year or two when I worked at a greenhouse (constantly dirty face), and it worked fine. But remember, there is a 99% change you will grow out of it. You might not think so at the present, but chances are you will.

^Proactive was some great stuff for me until my body became immune to it. Now it just makes my acne worse.

I got a prescription of doxycycline from my doctor. I'm suppose to take it twice a day but I only take it once. If I don't eat enough with it I will get sick and throw up. And I don't eat enough in the mornings to take it so I only take it after supper. There's another prescription I could get but I have to finish this one up first.. It's called tetracycline.

Also, good ol' soap and water helps ;)

Actually most acne treatment medications make you break out at first. It's not that it's being used wrong. I don't know why it happens, it just does.

Yep, tetracycline is a more general term for the antibiotic I recommended.

I used Accutane, but it is some hard core stuff. Causes depression pretty badly, and dries you out a lot. I mean a lot.

I don't use anything save some soap when I shower. I never get acne.

I've heard that crushing an asperin and putting it over your zits helps.

Never tried it though.

I've also found that stress can cause major acne, so try to think positive thoughts!

The antibiotic I posted will work. It just takes 6 weeks to take effect and is expensive.

No. But whoever invents that will be an extremely rich person.

Accutane works. I don't know if the side effects are worth it or not though. I don't know if it is still legal or not either, too many suicides.
