  1. This topic should be kept for reference, it needs to be confirmed by other users. I am not sure if what you say is true or it just happened to hit differently... In my oppinion, the difference between the short and the long bow is the speed and the range at which you can shoot. And using longrange mode you increase this range. However, I might be wrong. Before updating the guide according to your info, we will need confirmation from other community members or Jagex...
  2. Hi dewey, welcome to the forums! Please take care next time to not double-post. And just so you know, all questions should be asked in the "help and questions" forum, not this one. Concerning your question, please check the "new member's guide" on the main site ( http://tip.it/runescape ). It has a lot of info you'll find usefull, I'm sure. Enjoy your membership!
  3. Yes, help can be found in the "help and advice" forum. Or the farming guide on the main site http://tip.it/runescape. The only way to train farming very fast is by using trees. Farming is not a skill to power-train, but you don't have to spend your time near a patch to wait for your crops to grow. Just do whatever else you want and use supercompost.
  4. Welcome to the game and to the tip.it community. As you can see from the replies so far, there are a lot of friendly people willing to help you (myself included, add me if you want). As a suggestion, check the guides on the main site. I am thinking especially at the "new member's guide" - you'll get a lot of info about what you can do/what you should avoid when becoming a member. There are very few things not covered by the guides on the site, and for them you can ask questions on forums ("help and advice", not "general p2p") or your new friends in game. Hope you'll enjoy your experience, have fun!!! PS. Concerning the "quest points/level" discussion above, I've done all the quests when I was like 83-84 combat.
  5. Yep, and this guide has been promoted to the main site http://tip.it/runescape/?page=manage_thy_kingdom.htm You should find all the info you need there :)
  6. Tip.it guide takes longer in the making because it will be better, of course :D There are maps to be added, monster drop info, etc. We don't want just to copy the info from the main site's Knowledge Base, do we? Moreover, don't worry, this guide will not provide the answers to the security questions, otherwise it will completely ruin the aim of the dungeon. As a suggestion, next time use the "website suggestion and discussion" forum, it is more likely that a tip.it crew member will see your suggestion there (less posts than here).
  7. Judging from my friend's luck with level 3 clues, there seems to be a higher chance for god and gilded armour. Both me and him had a lot of bad luck with clue rewards (I think I had like 10 different level 3 rewards in a row with nothing better than just plain rune armour...). I've recently stopped doing clues (training fishing and stuff) - typical bad choice from me :D But my friend continued and he doesn't stop messaging me how good are his rewards lately. So.. yes, it might be a "tweak" from Jagex..
  8. Sorry I haven't answered earlier, I was away for the weekend. YES. It is possible, no doubt about it. I don't believe it's true because I think it's not practical, but it is not impossible.
  9. Ok, so there might be several possible situations: 1. The max hit formula is based on levels only. In this case: a. people thinking they could hit their max+1 when close to a new level are wrong - easy to make a mistake when talking about random numbers, it doesn't happen very often anyway, etc. b. the formula that we know of is slightly wrong, but the real formula is still based only on levels, not xp. 2. The max hit formula takes into account the xp as well. And it has to be in a very discrete way (not happening very often), maybe exactly the one you described and that I quote below: So... what the "Occam's blade" principle says is: "whenever you have several possible explanations for a phenomenon, the simplest is more likely to be right". Now, you have to admit that the 2nd situation is very, very complicated, which in my eyes makes it not plausible (less likely to be true). As a computer scientist who codes everyday, I can assure you that it is extremely unlikely that such an approach is implemented. There is no reason to make something that complex! I strongly believe that situation 1 is correct. As for 1a (fake examples) or 1b (slightly wrong level-based formula), I don't know.
  10. I am 62 herblore and I will train it again real soon. My approach is to combine herblore and farming. Buy lots of herb seeds, plant them using compost and when you have several hundreds herbs in the bank, make the potions. While the herbs grow you can do anything you want, including gathering second ingredients. Herblore can be raised very fast with a lot of money: simply buy the herbs, vials and 2nds and stay in bank. However, the farming-based method is a lot cheaper and it's the best if you're not in the hurry. As for what potion to make... always try your highest, but some are better than others. For example, toadflax seeds sell for only 1k, while rannar for 15-20k! For the same money you can get a lot more xp! Hope this helps! Anyway, what I like the most about herblore/farming is that I get the xp and the herbs while training other skills.
  11. Bottom line, noone can kill a quest monster for you, you have to kill it yourself - that's the idea of a quest. Just bring some food (in case it gets lucky) and a lot of runes for your best spell. Do not forget a teleportation item (you don't have the magic level for a spell), you cannot exit the dungeon otherwise. Try to cut the tree the run and hide behind some mushrooms and mage it from safety. It will take a while but you will kill it in the end. What anyone can help you with is to kill zombies and get a bronze hatchet for you - I won't play till Sunday evening so try to find someone else. If you can't, then pm me in game on Sunday (iquende) and I'll come to help you get the axe. Good luck!
  12. I think you have to wait half an hour before being able to talk from a stall owner if you stole from him.
  13. Upstairs the bank in Lletya (elven village).. there is an altar and an elf (several others are outside). Level 3 clues and ok drops. Also check the Barrows guide on the main site, there are some dharoking ideas at the end (or so I remember)
  14. Try the "Ghost ahoy" quest guide or the prayer guide on the main site (http://tip.it/runescape). And consider the use of the word "please" next time... :|
  15. Aprox. 250ea, so 25k. It won't be easy to find buyers for just 100 swordies... try the Edgeville bank on a crowded world, pkers might be interested
  16. There's no need to quote yourself, nor is to bump your thread. Someone will answer, just be patient :) Well, I'll try to answer.. I suggest training wherever your slayer master sends you. It might not be the fastest way, but you get xp in another skill too. If you don't like this, experiments (after Creature of Frankenstrain quest) or rock crabs (near Relleka) are very appreciated for the speed of training on them. Or, if you like drops, moss giants will be very good for your level.
  17. "double-click", "click a second before"... what are those? I'm 70 mining and I get the iron ore from the rock at the first swing of my pickaxe. Problem is, so do the level 55 miners. So all that matters is who's the first click on the rock... click just once, but try to be the first.. that's all there is to it :P
  18. You can make 1k+ nats/hour using abyss. That's 300k/hour. That's 20 hours of play to 6M. So if you play like 25 hours (extra hours for unexpected events like being pked :) ) during that week, the answer is yes. Good luck! PS Word of advice: next time don't post with a title on "moneymaking", there are plenty of topics asking only "how can i make money fast?" and people tend to avoid them. You were asking a precise question on nat crafting...
  19. Mage and pray, mage and pray all the way... There aren't safespots, but you don't need them while praying, don't you? Just take each fight at a time, read the guide(s), prepare yourself (armour, prayer pots, food, etc.) and.. good luck!
  20. seagulls in port sarim, chickes everywhere, chompybirds, etc. - there are plenty of birds around ;)
  21. You mean at 65 slayer, I imagine. Yes, you can be assigned a slayer monster as soon as you have the needed level for it (e.g., dust devils at 65 slayer). However, this does not hold for abyssal demons - you need lvl 86 slayer. Just pot up (slayer respite) when talking to the slayer master if you are 85 slayer and that solves the problem ;)
  22. Hmm... let me resume what you are suggesting. You agree that max hit (combat level, etc.) is calculated using the levels you have. That's normal, we know some of the formulas used, etc. And you are suggesting that maybe in these formulas they also take into account your xp or, more precisely, how close your xp is to a threshold xp (the one for the next level). Moreover, they don't add only this to the formula and that's it, they take it into account only every 4 levels or so. I see absolutely no reason to make a formula that complex. The levels are there and they are used... why throw in some xp percentages, but not always, etc.? It will be more difficult to calculate and there is no incentive for it. I believe in "Occam's blade" principle: the simplest explanation prevails. In our case, this means the formula is the one we know and the rest is pure random hits. My oppinion, anyway. PS. Even if it was true.. what difference does it make to the way we play the game?
  23. At barrows there are 4 melee brothers, 1 mage and 1 ranger. - It is better to range the mage, but you will need better arrows than just mith. Don't worry about dhides, as your range level is quite slow, you'll need to pray protect from mage. - The ranger could be killed using magic or melee, your choice. Always pray protect when fighing him! - As for the melee brothers, mage them. Just use the best spell you can cast, too bad you don't have level 55 slayer to cast slayer dart (efficient in terms of runes used). Your defence is quite low, so pray protect when fighting them (recomended anyway). You'll need to melee some monsters in the tunnels, you'll be alright in full rune and with a d b-axe. Please check the barrows guide on the main site. It is VERY GOOD! But most important of all is: bring prayer potions, you'll need them. My guess you'll use like 10-12 doses per trip. Good luck and have fun!
  24. As a crewbie working on the items DB, I can confirm this. Yes, virtually all items in Runescape will be found in the database and for each item we will try to provide a list of locations where it can be found (or how it can be made). Of course, most likely that we will miss a lot of respawning points, but you will be able to submit the info to us as soon as a beta DB will be online. So don't delete the info you gathered so far, it will be very helpful in the near future :)
  25. It really depends on your mining level and I'm sorry I can't give you a precise answer. I suggest you time yourself: how long does it take to get a full load of essence to the bank and how long for a full load of iron. Maybe do several runs to get an average. Then it's simple. Iron ore sell for 100ea, normal essence for like 20ea (to verify). So if you mine a load of iron faster than 5 loads of essence (which I think is the case), iron is the way to go. Moreover, iron gives more xp than essence, so take that too into account. Hope this helps
