  1. Try asking a friend to stay in the house (alching or whatever) while you bank for more bones. This means your house will remain "loaded" while you're away. Which in turns means fast entering the house (1 sec) and the burners still lit. If instead noone is left in the house, then the house "unloads" so next time you enter it, it has to load (10 secs) and the burners will be unlit. The bug in which the house remains "loaded" even if no other player is inside happens from time to time. But it is a bug, I'd advise against trying to make it happen and use it. If indeed someone finds a way to make it happen often (as claimed in this thread), you should report this way to Jagex. To resume, simply use a friend's presence in the house to increase your prayer xp / hour and to decrease (about 50%) the marentils needed.
  2. Both of you, please read his/her post before posting a comment, will you? While the guide talks about "luring", it is not the illegal luring considered scamming. It does not suggest to lure someone from outside the wilderness to the wilderness so that you could kill them. It suggests to lure someone already in the wilderness (and often a pker) to a specific spot where you can ambush him/her. It is perfectely legal.
  3. Check my avatar 8-) I completed all the quests existing at that moment about the same time I reached level 60+ in all skills, after 9 months (or something) of playing. Since then, I did all the new quests the day they come out, seldom the next day.
  4. First of all, who said the length of a combination has to be 4, like in the quest? You could try AJR - BLR - CKR - .... - DKS and see where you go :D Probably that the quest required a combination and not a simple destination as it would have been too easy otherwise. And theoretically one should have read and decipher the encoded message specifying the combination. Not just read a guide ;) So the combination was indicated in the quest, while the 64 possibilities could be easily tried by each of us. I strongly believe that's all there is to it, at least for the moment.
  5. What problem in particular are you having? If you're confused about where to go in the maze, just take the quick route: go east from where you enter the maze until you encounter a ladder. Go down it, then run as far to the north east as you can. Go up the ladder you find, and then go down the ladder immediately to the south of it. You have to make it more detailed, because that is confusing. It seems the maze is "upside down" for some player, including me. When I enter the maze I'm in the NE corner and I have to go to the SW one. While for other player is the exact opposite. Simply use his directions "reversed" (go to west when he says east, etc.) and you'll be fine
  6. I just want to congratulate the crew and all the other persons involved in this ambitious project! I have an idea of the amount of work involved ;) and I'm very happy you have achieved this milestone! I simply hope the tip.it community will acknowledge the effort put into it and the result obtained, it's really amazing! Congratulations again! =D> Oh, and for the "anonymous" author of the times article, I'm glad your idea worked out in the end. Good work, gratz!
  7. Highest rank: farming (lvl76 - rank 4,411 at the time of this post) Lowest rank: strength (lvl75 - rank 236,349 at the time of this post)
  8. I am totally this kind of player, setting myself goals, striving to achieve them, sometimes changing them on the way, etc. But, I think that I am not so much "goal-oriented" as I am "plan-oriented". What I really like to do, is to plan. I set some goals, and I have that great feeling of satisfaction when I achieve them. But I find a great pleasure in researching how to achieve it, in making the plan. Computing how many nats I need to get to lvl 70 runecrafting, meaning how many runs. Timing the various methods and computing the time needed, taking into consideration glory recharges, etc. You get the idea, I hope. I like the feeling I have when I achieve a goal, but I also like the preparation to get there.
  9. As far as I know, ring of recoil hits back when you get hit. If you pray protect you won't get hit, while if you don't pray, you'll get owned immediately, seeing that you have only 10hp. The new items are simply an additional incentive to train prayer for those who don't (eg. pures)
  10. because the amount you put in for logs/strings you make over 400 gp per bow you alch as long as you make your own nats. i.e., runecrafting.
  11. Don't high alch them, that's the idea. Buy yew logs, buy bow strings for a total of 400gp, make a yew long and sell it for 550gp. That's how fletchers make money. As for all the ones above saying that farming and herblore are not good money making, you are wrong. Maybe they aren't at level 40 (which is not actually true), but at higher levels they are excellent money makers, especially combined (farming herbs, making potions). It takes me 15 mins every 2 hours to make a lot of profit... Making profit in the rest of time using a different method. Farming/herblore combo is like Miscellania - it's not the best/fastest money-maker, but it's done in parallel with other tasks. So for me it's a must do.
  12. There are two different ways to brag about.. 1600+ total or whatever total level you feel like an achievement. Now, if you have this total at level 100+ combat, you actually have only 1200-1300 non combat levels. While if you have it at level 3 combat, you have around 1600 non combat levels. This is why a low combat level is more appreciated than a high level with the same total. all skills at 70+ or whatever milestone level you consider. In this case, the combat level doesn't really matter - the achievement is to get all skills, including combat ones to a high level. Yes, extremely lower combat levels might find raising some skills more difficult, but that's all there is to it. I find an equal achievement for someone who says "I have all levels at 70", regardless of them being lvl 90 or 110 combat. I hope you see my point... However, "pure skillers" (very low combat, high total) are appreciated for a different reason as well. The vast majority of RS players are interested in combat and use combat on a daily basis. The skillers are the ones playing differently, forsaking all form of combat - and this different way of playing is the one being admired. Well, to each his own... I'm not a pure skiller and I'm not a pure fighter. But I am equally interested in all skills, regardless of their nature. This satisfies me, as I feel I cover as much as I can of all the complexity in the game. To each his own, as I was saying ;)
  13. No videos, but here are two screenshots: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=382 ... ns#3825637
  14. Inspired by gspbeetle's idea above, I came up with the following "statistic". Below you will find all the 22 skills existing so far, ordered by the number of users having achieved level 99 in them: Strength 9010 Attack 8307 Hitpoints 6703 Fletching 6283 Cooking 5812 Defence 5328 Range 2889 Woodcutting 2093 Magic 2014 Fishing 781 Firemaking 593 Prayer 563 Thieving 421 Smithing 351 Mining 240 Crafting 145 Slayer 107 Runecraft 103 Agility 94 Herblore 82 Farming 65 Construction 45 Of course, you need to take into account several facts. Slayer, runecraft, farming and construction are recent skills, so less time has been available to train them. And there are many players who are combat-oriented, this is why the combat skills are among the first. Plus, it is to be expected that f2p skills have more maxed players, as there are more players training them. Still, I believe the list above is pretty interesting. And if anything, it confirms that cooking and fletching are the easiest ones. This being said, I'd say a skill cape of Herblore or Agility is more impresive than a Fletching one :)
  15. This is not relevant at all. Nobody will train an expensive skill that only costs and not makes money after level 99 (13M) to 200M when there are other skills out there. After you reach 13M xp you can continue to train a skill until you max it out. But why do it with construction or prayer which only cost money (and a lot) and produce NOTHING in return? When you can train fletching (profit), cooking (break even) or firemaking (almost no cost)... This is the explanation for your "statistics" above ;) As for the original question, there are skills you cannot "buy" (agility, thieving, mining, fishing, woodcutting, etc.) This skills will take the longest time to level 99, no matter of how much money you want to put in them. And there are skills easily buyable (you can buy the raw materials needed), like cooking, fletching, crafting, smithing, etc. Now, some of these will bring you back the money you spent, sometimes with a profit, while others will just consume this money (construction, prayer, farming(?)). Your choice, but I think it's obvious from the previous answers that the easiest way to 99 is by fletching or cooking, while if you are very-very rich construction and prayer are very suitable. Good luck!
  16. The capes are an amazing incentive to play more, good thinking Jagex ;) As for the wardrobe, I simply love the idea!
  17. I will check, I have to plant some fruit trees myself too. I'll time them and see if I get any strange results... EDIT: I have checked with two fruit trees (a pineapplea and a papaya). I did not get especially long times, so I guess you were just unlucky. You know, there are some set times: your tree changes its status (eg, it visibly grows) only at a fixed moment of time. If you plant it just before such a moment, it would seem that it immediately grows. While if you plant it just after such a moment, it would take a long time before it will grow (change status)... That's all there is to it
  18. I totally agree, even if all my published "works" were in scientific journals/books, it's such a great feeling when you get the book/magazine/etc. and you look at it... you're work is there :) Anyway, back on topic, congratulations! As an established author, you now have no excuse for not writing more guides for tip.it :D
  19. The submissions received and used to update the guide (or were invalid) have been cleared from this topic. Thanks for your contributions, everyone!
  20. You can enter the altar without having the needed level to craft runes. So a player who can't craft laws (lvl 54 needed) goes there and exchanges his/her pure ess for law runes in equal numbers. To resume: W66: crafter gets very fast xp but paying the price of the pure essence. runner makes a profit equal to the number of law runes (s)he ran for. W99: crafter gets xp for free, without paying anything. runner makes a profit equal to the number of law runes minus the price payed for pure essence. Roughly, the profit in this case is two-thirds of the profit made in the first case. For crafters, w99 is better in terms of money spent, but the xp is slower as there are less runners. For runners, w66 is better in terms of money gained, but it's slower as there are too many runners. Moreover, on w99 runners get one more rune per run. It's now up to each of us to choose whatever suits him/her best... I use both (when I train rcrafting, that is), depending on the number of runners/crafters there.. Sometimes w99 is too slow for my taste.
  21. Please use proper punctuation in your messages, it's quite hard to read one looong phrase. Why don't you or your mother read the billing support on Jagex's main site? Most probably, you do not have membership anymore because payment hasn't been made lately. Why? Only your mother (I assume it's her credit card) knows. Check with her. If she did pay, send a query to Jagex. Do not look for "something that looks official" on these forums, we are not Jagex ;)
  22. Lol, you're a funny guy! I'm not sure I understood what you mean. You paid for membership before going to the holidays. You came back and you are no longer a member. <- you know this because you can't log on to members worlds, for example. Well, if you payed before for just one month of membership, most likely your membership has run out. Thus, you need to pay again. You should remember for how long you payed and when... Or you could check your credit card bill to see the date and the amount of the transaction. IF you paid not so long ago or for a quite long period of time, meaning that now you should have membership, but you don't, write a message to Jagex. Hope this helps. And just so you know, all questions should be posted in the "help and advice" forum, no matter whether they are about p2p stuff or not..
  23. Excuse me for being off-topic, but how the frick do you know ELVEN?!?!?!?! :?: :!: :?: :!: Well I probably shouldn't even be asking this because I can just google it. Oh well, too late. Tolkien, the author of the "Lord or the Rings" books (and others in same "universe") has invented this language. Actually two forms of Elvish. There are now several dictionaries available, together with gramar rules, etc. My forum name means "the man from the West" - surname of Aragorn in LOTR and my ingame name means "the elf"... both in Elvish, of course :)
  24. I prefer to keep this post for reference, as many users have questions regarding the formula below. The range max damage table available in the Ranged guide was calculated using the formulas described in one of the first posts to this topic: As many users have noticed, it seems that these formulas are not 100% accurate and feedback concerning the "errors" has been received. I have analysed this feedback and I have discovered that almost all of it could be explain with just one small change to the formulas... This change is quite simple: +1 to all the formulas above and always round down. Thus, the new formulas are: Bronze: 1+ (lvl + 6) / 9 Iron: 1+ (lvl + 7) / 9 Steel: 1+ (lvl + 7) / 8 Mith: 1+ (lvl + 6.5) / 7.5 Adam: 1+ (lvl + 10) / 7 Rune: 1+ (lvl + 13) / 6 Always rounded down (i.e. 2.001 -> 2) The +1 is easily explained by the fact that even the lowest level should have a default max hit of 1 (not 0). And the rounding down is the default behaviour in programming (you take the integer part). Rest assured, the changes to the damage table are minimal. Actually, the old formulas can still be considered correct and the rounding up is ALWAYS done (even 2.0 -> 3, not only 2.1 -> 3). As I said, almost all the submitted corrections were in fact on the situation 2.0 -> 3.... To conclude, the damage table has been corrected and it will be visible with the next guide update. Credit has been given to everyone who has submitted the corrections allowing me to correct the formulas. I will keep this post here, even after the update, for future reference.
