  1. Opeth - Watershed. My opinion on this album changes every time I listen to it. There's so much to absorb it's hard to make a judgement.
  2. Scarface - It was a lot more brutal than I had expected. The chainsaw scene was pretty shocking to me. Great acting though from Al Pacino 8/10

+1. I had to miss his last gig due to all my mates pulling out. Coming up Slayer w/ Trivium, Mastodon, AMON AMARTH (tomorrow). Then Slipknot, Machine Head, Children of Bodom. Then later on Metallica, Machine head again. Possibly going to Damnation festival which means Carcass and the Bezerker + more.
  4. ATM Dream Theater Opeth Strapping Young Lad/ Devin Townsend Mastodon 3 Inches of Blood Machine Head Behemoth Book of Job Tenacious D Amon Amarth
  5. [hide=]B...TA never did it for me. The closest I got to that kind of music was enjoying Pysopus - Insects. agnGv_2gmSQ For White Guy, if you're a BTBAM fan (as I am), you'll proball enjoy Protest the Hero. Get Fortress and you'll love it. It was a big contender for album of the year for me, until Opeth came along with Watershed. bcNWXDfKMnM [/hide] That protest song is much more straight forward than most of theirs. I put it up because it's probally the most catchy and will therefore appeal to most :
  6. There is already a topic on this in Off Topic. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=766986 Have fun. ~Locked~
  7. I predict the sequel will be Pandemic II and have some reference to it being impossible to get into Madagasca. Anyway, the new episode was ok, not brilliant and not terrible. No real laugh out loud moments for me, although Randy being annoying with the camera was a perfect match with both my parents from what I remember of me being little. I also remember wondering round France and seeing loads of Pan Flute bands.
  8. They sound great  I added it to my list of albums to be getting soon. I'm always looking out for music which expands my horizons musically. Progressive music is really what I'm looking for, although straight up metal can be great too. To SilverSword, I recommend Devin Townsends Solo work. His albums Terria and Ziltoid the Omniscient are both brilliant (the later is less experimental and more metal I suppose).
  9. Over the last year, 2 hours a week average? Probally less. As a younger teenager I gamed alot but I can't afford to buy games anymore, so I occasionally break out an older game and play that.
  10. "Like the victims of breast cancer, there is something I'd like to get off my chest". I sprayed tea over my keyboard because of that line. Best episode I've seen in ages.
  11. Bass guitar is usually harder due to a longer scale and heavier strings. You will also be doing a lot of finger picking instead of picking with a pick. However bassists usually get stuck playing root notes or other relatively simple to play stuff. There usually isn't much chord work (playing more than one note at a time) done. If you start off learning pop punk basslines you'll learn the basics pretty quickly. Guitar on the other hand varies a lot. Standard open chords might take a month for you to get proficient at using, barre chords can take upwards of a year. Learning scales and how to improvise is also a good thing to learn. Start off learning folk songs to learn open chords then move onto pop punk/ rock to get power chords down, etc.
  12. The Bezerker. Good old mix of death metal, grindcore and techno. They also wrote some really amazing lyrics (IMO) which really disturbed me. This song probally has my favourite lyrics of all time, which I've got pinned up on my wall. [hide=]"I know what I have whitnessed. Now it is your turn. Prepare yourself for a journey into a world where each new step may give you a better understanding of your own reality." The uncreative juices flow from all but a selective few and even those they tend to be wasted. You have taken pride in a lifeform that you think you know but what you do not know is it's rotting. It is so unfortunate that this is how our world must be but why must I accept reality, is this reality? How can I exist amongst you people when I feel this way when all that seems so wrong is everywhere. A world without substance feeling so superior I am discontent with lies and with ineffective lives. Should I grieve for mankind or live out my life to be free of pain I'll want it back again. So to be one with man I must be false to myself any effort's futile for my life is just mine. I have visions of worlds that are unparalleled my attempts are in vain to walk this earth without shame, FOR BEING HUMAN. This is my reality and you do not have to accept it you are only human with excuses and complaints. Couldn't you be something greater come on now you know the answer you are so absorbed with your own pathetic lives. Why should I feel pity for you I don't think I know the answer. have you ever thought about opening your closed eyes? What is it that you're afraid of, don't you want to see yourself, couldn't bear to see yourself as I see you.[/hide]
  13. Don't know much about your Musical Tastes, so give Opeth's Damnation a try. It's a great gateway to getting into Opeth who are one of the best bands in the world IMO.
  14. Please don't make a thread for something like this. There used to be a guide about how to post properly in Movies and Music but it currently is missing. Basically please put more effort into posting threads in this forum. ~Ragen~
  15. Where do you guys order your CD's from? I'm currently using Amazon but it's a bit hard to find weirder stuff such as the Ne Obliviscaris demo The Aurora Veil which I've heard amazing things about.
  16. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/guitar_techniques/alternate_picking_technique.html That lesson sorted out my picking pretty damn quickly. It goes through almost everything picking related from holding a pick to some hard alternate picking runs. Use a metronome whilst practicing these exercises and start off slowly. Have fun!
  17. Behemoth - Demigod Devin Townsend - Terria Strapping Young Lad - City In Flames - The Jester Race
  18. Sorry but this kind of thread isn't appropriate to Off Topic. You're better off posting "Fat Anime Chicks" into google to be honest.
  19. Start with The Sounds of Preservance. It's an amazing album although it's not that much Death Metal. More proggy. Listening to Dream Theater - Lie
  20. Grade 13? Guess it's different in the UK :P When I've finished all free education, I plan on going to med school at either Leeds, York, Edinburgh or Bristol. If I fail all application, then I'm planning on taking a biochemistry course anywhere and transfering to medecine after the first year.

    Gig Amps

I play a spider III. So does the rhythm guitarist out of my band. I agree that they can seriously sound terrible, especially if you're unexperienced with EQ'ing amps. There are better amps out there for the money but I don't think there are any as versatile with the effects (even though they are pretty poor, they get the job done). If you need an amp for a gig, save up a bit more and buy something worth keeping. If you get a Spider III you'll want to change it within a year or 2. I know I want to change mine.
  22. Chasing Jade - Not in My Name I saw these guys at a BOTM last night and got blown away. They were awesome.
  23. Dream Theater - Under a Glass Moon. Epic solo in 5...4...3...2...
