  1. I have been the Under 18's epee (type of fencing) champion in Yorkshire for 3 years running. I have represented the UK twice at international events, Germany and Austria and my highest ranking in the UK for Under 17's was 11th. I fence in the under 21's now and had a poor season due to lots of time off for exams. I also play guitar and have done for 2 years now. I play in two bands and one is planning on recording a demo soon. I am lead guitarist and songwriter. I also am a black belt in Karate after 8 years training.

    Your band?

I play in two 'bands'. One is an actual band called Communication from Elsewhere. It's indie rock and IMO it is fairly terrible. The myspace has some early recording done on a cheapo recorder which you can check out if you like. The singer has some definate pitch issues but he's getting better. Slowly. I play lead guitar and am the main song writer. http://www.myspace.com/communicationfromelsewhere Best songs are Out of Touch and Epic Scenes from Distant dreams (I didn't write the lyrics or title of the last one). We plan on recording a demo in a studio somewhere or doing it ourselves to save cash. The other is a metal group with myself, my best mate on bass and my old best mate from primary school on lead guitar. We don't have a drummer and although I put down vocals onto some tracks, they were recorded by running guitar pro drums into audacity, recording guitar over it and then making awful attempts at both falsetto singing (I have no breath control) and death growls (same problem) for a laugh. I have however lost my microphone and I wont put up any old tracks as they are too embarrassing. High lights for me include Forever Fallen (only complete serious song with lyrics), Kill the Orcs before they trick you (3 Inches of Blood Parody) and Death Metal Cat Food (with such great lyrics as "I cooked him with a saucepan of hatred, and broke him into manageable pieces for my pretty"). We plan on getting a set together and playing metal nights at bars for a laugh. I'll need to either get a hell of a lot better at vocals and playing or find a vocalist. I've been singing scales to try and improve but I really struggle with singing. And I can't even speak to someone without getting thrown from my guitar playing.
  3. I really enjoy some Christina Aguilera songs such as Beautiful, Genie in a Bottle and Dirty. I was also a massive fan of Shakira's Underneath My Clothes album.
  4. of Montreal - Gronlandic Edit I quite like it
  5. Can I put dibs on Machine Head? I only need 2 more CD's before I have their whole catalogue (except demo's and live CD's). I wish I could do Dream Theater but there is too much to buy for a guy with no money.
  6. If you're into Death Metal, I'm guessing you already know about Nile and Death. If not, they are a good place to start. For more experience Death Metaller's, At the Gates - The Red in the Sky is Ours is a great album. Necrophagist are really good tech death. Behemoth are pretty easy to get into and have some great songs. I'm a fan of Vader, especially the album 'The Ultimate Incarnation'. Out of those, I'd say the heaviest is Behemoth. Could someone recommend me a really good indie or rock band please?
  7. You're into metal right? If you haven't tried Opeth yet, do so \ You probably wont know 3 Inches of Blood and I consider them to be a great metal band. Catchy melodies and some ace riffs. The falsetto vocalist annoys most people but I quite like his style. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JElepyWMsM8
  8. The Dark Knight - Epic. I thought this was amazing. Everyone says it but Heath Ledger was brilliant. Dawn of the Dead 2004 - Normally, I'm a wimp about Horror movies. This one wasn't scary. There was very little suspense and nothing really upsetting in the imagery. City of God - The Story of kids turning into Gangsters in South America. It was a great film and it left you thinking.
  9. In the last month or so... Machine Head - Burn My Eyes (Downloaded Years Ago and bought recently in a sale) At the Gates - The Red in the Sky is Ours Rage Against the Machine - S/T Tenacious D - S/T Random Busker Guy in Leeds - The Bedroom Orchestra Cotheria - E/P No pictures for the last two as they are local bands and I don't have the energy for scanning the CD's.
  10. 'How not to be seen' is one of my favourite sketches of all time. The Four Yorkshiremen is great as well.
  11. I was dissapointed after the first listen. Best track IMO was All Hope is Gone. There was a fair few 'Stone Sour'ish moments but not as good as I'd expect from Stone Sour such as the Psychosocial chorus. Is anyone else off to see them on their December tour of Britain? I'm not a massive slipknot fan but my mate is and I'm a massive Machine Head fan so I'll be going mainly for them. Seeing them at the MEN.
  12. I support taking the kids away because this gives the parents an incentive to start saying no. The kids are fat because the parents don't like refusing them and they don't get enough exercise. If they have a choice of getting their kid to a decent weight or having them taken away, the parents might put some effort in to stop their kid over-eating.
  13. A* - Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths, RE, English Language A - History, PE, ICT x 2 B - French and English Literature. First step to getting into med school completed \
  14. Having trouble sleeping usually comes from either a bad sleeping habit or a lack or activity during the day. Try going to bed at a set time every night and getting up at the same time. Try to get around 7 hours sleep. The longer you sleep in after that, the more tired you'll feel when you get up. Also, make sure you aren't lounging around all day. At least 30 minutes of exercise will not only wake you up and make you feel good, it'll help you sleep later that night. Sleeping pills will knock you out but they aren't a good solution. The sleep you get on them isn't good for you and you wont feel as rested as if you do it naturally.
  15. It's a Belkin54g router and I use a USB plugin to receive the signal. The encryption is 64 bits.
  16. At the moment, I am pretty stuck on how to ix my internet. I use a Belkin Wireless G router connected via cables to a main PC (what I'm using now, internet is fine on this) the signal is then sent to my PC wirelessly and that's where the problems start. Previously, the wireless receiver said that it had good signal strength, good link quality but it could still not connect to network. I tried the usual methods of fixing this problem such as unplugging and replugging it in and trying to reconnect etc. In the end, I did a system restore and my internet came back. It only lasted a day though before cutting out again. At the moment, I am doing another system restore but I don't think this is a long term solution and I need help with a fix. As a system restore fixed my internet, I think that it is a software problem rather than a broken router/ receiver. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?
  17. I'm a fan of the Lion King, especially stuff like Can You Feel the Love Tonight. Fantasia was great too, I loved the Dinosaur scenes.
  18. Kidulthood - Absolute fail. No words can describe how bad this movie was. Austin Powers: Goldmember - Started off well but didn't entertain as much at the end.
  19. I would love a backstage pass to that show. =P~ I got given a backstage pass at one of my bands gigs which was a novelty but pretty much anyone was allowed backstage anyway as the backstage was an unlocked dining area with no-one on the doors, so a load of the drummers mates just came and chilled with us.
  20. That explains his superhuman powers then. \ Master and Commander: Far Side of the World - I saw this in the cinema and for some reason I failed to follow the plot. This time through I 'got' it and I thought it was pretty good. Great fight scenes and some great twists. 8/10 Bulletproof Monk - This was pretty poor. The fight scenes were bad, the chemistry between boy and girl seemed put on and the final twist I saw coming right from the scene with Funktastic where [hide=]the girl helps him out.[/hide] 6/10
  21. V for Vendetta - At first I wasn't sure about the movie as I thought 'V' was going to wind me up with overuse of alliteration. Once it got going though, I was hooked. I think that [hide=]what happened during the experiments should have been better explained[/hide] however the rest of the movie fitted together great. 9/10
  22. I try to help but my ink resets itself every week or so :( I'm down to 5% at the moment and it's pretty frustrating. How do you stop ink resetting?
  23. I never saw this solution to the petrol problem  I can see that massive ammounts of money will be made from this discovery, assuming that no major flaws are discovered. It also means that we wont have to rely on foreign countries for oil  Less wars?
  24. Phone Booth - Terrible movie. Don't watch it. 2/10.
