  1. Speed isn't everything... its his speed and accuracy (soz if i spelt that wrong lol) Herman Li = Fast and accurate (ish) There are faster, more accurate and less repetetive guitarists out there. He has developed his own style of playing, I'll give him that, but it's the same sweep/ tapping style riffs most of the time. Great stage performer though, syncronised jumping, playing each others instruments and breaking out into other peoples songs :D Best guitarist IMO is Guthrie Govan. You can check out some improvisations by him on YouTube. Which leads me onto:
  2. Machine Head (Saw them at Manchester last night and I get the feeling I'm gonna be a permenant fan) Arch Enemy (Same as Above) Dream Theater Slipknot Foo Fighters
  3. Machine Head - Descend the Shades of Night

Interesting. I guess rhythm did count in the second test :D Scores: 25/30 16/30
  5. Ragen replied to Echofish's topic in Off-Topic
One question: [hide]In the second section the rhythms are changing but not the notes, does this count as the same or different? Rhythm has nothing to do with tone deafness so I'm just clicking the same so far.[/hide]
  6. Totally forgot about that one  That album was EPIC.
  7. Yea.. I just read it and i'm like... damn bl to introducing yourself :-? Ragen isn't my real name :D I only use it on Internet forums and games and most of the communication done on them is text based, in fact I don't think I've ever rang anyone up who I met on a forum and said "Hey it's Ragen". The only time I've spoke to someone I met online, they already referred to me as Chris :D Damn parents sticking an r in the middle of my first name.
  8. I'm fine with 'r' at the start of words, I should have mentioned that. It's just getting them out mid-word that messes me up.
  9. I can't roll my 'r' and over the years my pronounciation of them has got worse and worse. They don't come out like a Johnaton Woss but more of an "aaaaaggh". The best way I can describe it is as the most pathetic pirates "Arrrrrggggh" you've ever heard. In everyday speech when I'm trying to get a word like 'horribly' out of my mouth it makes me quite hard to understand.
  10. Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence and the Peace Dream Theater - Systematic That's the only two I'm nominating, everying else has been a little bit of a dissapointement to me.
  11. Arch Enemy - Blood on you Hands "Remember!!!" = eargasm :D
  12. Mine is on Scoutzknivez as well. No scope headshot against my best friend, who had played CS:S for what seems like forever and is ace at it. It was my first time playing as well, although I was a FPS geek at the time.
  13. None of the three main parties (I'm British so Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems) really vary in policies that would affect my life in anyway. And its a guarentee that one of those three will be in power. If the BNP threatened to come into power, I would definately vote against it. Simularly if a major party stated that it would legalise certain drugs, I would vote for it as long as it's other policies were ok with me. I wouldn't do it for an Ipod. I would for a years tuition though.
  14. You're good from what I saw. Your dad is amazing though, his left hand alone had me mesmerised.
  15. Paco de Lucia plus othe Guitarists - Mediteranean Sundance. I've never been moved by an instrumental like this before. Absolutally beautiful, sounds like the soul of a stunning spanish woman dancing the tango.
  16. :D Personally, I don't think we can come to a conclusion about who's fault it is. I believe we played a role in it and either way it's a bit late to try and start cutting down on emissions. According to one of my science teachers (I trust them slightly less than Wikipedia), even stopping all carbon dioxide emissions everywhere the Ice caps would still have melted by the end of the century - the damage is done. Apparently, I don't have the time to be doing extra research on top of a load of maths c/w I should be doing instead of typing this.
  17. I'm a massive DT fan and I hated that album when I got it. A few months later on I rediscovered it after seeing them live and it was amazing :D (This happens with every DT album I buy). Dream Theater - The Dark Eternal Night ^ Sheers balls.
  18. I absolutally loved both Games. Morrowind kept me going for longer but only because I was a bit of a geek at the time and PC games were what I lived for. I also enjoyed the faction quests in Morrowind more as you actually got a decent reward at the end of it. That was the other thing that bugged me about Oblivion - the lack of incredible equiptment. You had to be about level 20 to find anything worth keeping and in Morrowind as a level one you could break into Ghost Gate (if you had the skills) and run off with full glass and great weapons. Sure it wasn't playing fair but I enjoyed it much more. Modwise - Oblivion wins hands down for the fact that my Morrowind mods never worked :D
  19. Guthrie Govan - Larry Carlot Backing Track Best guitarist I've seen in ages. I believe this is improvised as well. :uhh: Any guitarists out there look him up. You'll be impressed.
  20. Wikipedia Page And btw, if you don't like a thread posting on it only bumps it up, let it die.
  21. Dream Theater - Endless Sacrifice. The instrumental section really kicks off. Into Foo Fighters - Let it die. Best song on the Album IMO.
  22. Just played the first gig with my band tonight and we absolutally nailed the songs. We do a version of Plug-in baby that ends up being about 1.5 times and fast and really heavy, saw a video of that which was absolutally crazy. We've only been practicing with a singer for just over a week but he performed great. I'll try and post a video of it if I can find one that doesn't show me (no real life pic rule). Anyway our setlist was: Fell in Love with a Girl (it got played by the previous act, who was a singer/ song writer and did it in 60's Blues Style. Nobody noticed that it got played twice) The Wombats - Kill the Director The Enemy - Away from Here Staind - Zoe Jane Panic at the Disco - Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking their clothes off We are Scientists - Nobody move Nobody get hurt Muse - Plug-in Baby Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench Then we had five minutes left (our set was cut from 40 to 30 mins so we didn't play any originals) so we played... Foo Fighters - The Pretender Which we learnt the night before just to take our mind off things :? and have a laugh. We never thought we'ed be doing it on the night. And we absolutally nailed it. I know the threads not about but its gig related and Im totally :D Anyway, I may go to see Seasick Steve in Leeds monday night and the next gig after that is the Black Crusade at the MEN arena in Manchester. Which is going to be scary as hell.
  23. Panic at the Disco - Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off.

Earl Grey I absolutally love that stuff... and now I'm distracted from my coursework again cause I've got to put the kettle on.
