I've never tried to learn violin but due to it being fretless (you have to pick the note out exactly on the neck of the violin) I imagine its pretty hard to learn. You can pick up a guitar, learn a few chords and play a song in the space of one lesson. From what I know of violins (one of my best mates has been playing 6 years), it's not like that. You'd need a proper teacher I think to learn violin, it's definately not a pick up and play thing. Anyway, I play electric guitar (tiny bit of acoustic). I'm playing a Yamaha Pacifica at the moment but hopefully getting a Schecter Tempest Custom by the end of this week. I'm playing through a Spider III 150 and I love it. Me and my band have got our first gig at the end of this week (reason for getting new guitar but I'm worried it wont be delivered by then), just playing covers and one song of our own where I get a scorching solo :D

My band just came up with a name last week. We are called 'Deadline' :o
  3. The party I was going to got called off due to a lack of people being able to go (I would have been fine with just the hostess and me and lots of alcohol :D ) so I dressed up as a zombie - thriller style. I then blasted loads of extreme metal and had some fun with people who came to the door. I was really disappointed with the trick or treater turn out - there were only 4 groups who came round who were under 12 and dressed up. We got three large groups of chavs and one little group of kids not dressed up at all.
  4. My band had dropped a gig on my head, giving me a weeks notice to learn 5 or so songs  So currently listening to Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench [hide]They are also making me learn: The Enemy - Away from here The Wombats - Kill the Director We are Scientists - Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt All easy songs but getting them in time with my band and then performing them in front of 250 people (first gig) is gonna be quite a challenge. Especially as we have got a new singer and our first practice with him is five days beforehand. :uhh: [/hide]
  5. At primary school, my best friend was the guy I sat next to on the first day. At my second primary school after moving across the country, I ended up being friends with the guy whose job it was to show me around. At high school, I have loads of close friends unlike before but my 'best' friend, I just started talking to him one day after I saw him in town and we stuck like glue. The guy who was my best mate at my second primary school I didn't see for three years but recently he joined a band with me and my current best mate, which is a good laugh.
  6. Tool - Wings Absolutally beautiful music. [hide] Wings You believed. You believed in moments not conceived. You believed in me. A passionate spirit. Uncompromised boundless and open. A light in your eyes, then, immobilized. Vacant, broken. Fell at the hands of Those movements that I wouldn't see. Cause it was you who prayed for me so. What have I done to be a son to an angel? What have I done to be worthy? Day light dims leaving cold fluorescence. Difficult to see you in this light. Please forgive this selfish question, but What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight? She never told a lie. Well might of told a lie. But never lived one. Didn't have a life. Didn't have a life. But surely saved one. Saved on. Alright, now it's time for us to let you go. 10,000 Days We listen to the tales and romanticize, how we follow the path of the hero. Boast about the day when the rivers overrun, How we'll rise to the height of our halo. Listen to the tales as we all rationalize, our way into the arms of the savior. Fading all the trials and the tribulations. None of us have actually been there, Not like you... The ignorant fibbers in the congregation. Gather around spewing sympathy, Spare me... None of them can even hold a candle up to you. Blinded by choices, hypocrites won't see. But enough about the collective Judas. Who could deny you were the one who illuminated? Your little piece of the divine. This little light of mine it gives your past unto me, I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way. Your way home... Oh, what are they gonna do when the lights go down? Without you to guide them all to Zion? What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun? Other than tremble incessantly. High is the way, but our eyes are upon the ground. You are the light and the way. They'll only read about. I only pray heaven knows, when to lift you out. 10,000 days in the fire is long enough. You're going home... You're the only one who can hold your head up high. Shake your fist at the gates saying, "I have come home now...!" Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. "It's time now! My time now! Give me my Give me my wings...!" Give me my [x5] (Give me my wings) You are the light, the way, that they will only read about. Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance. Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence, Judith Marie, unconditional one. Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence. Difficult to see you in this light. Please forgive this bold suggestion. Should you see your maker's face tonight, Look him in the eye. Look him in the eye and tell him, I never lived a lie, never took a life, But surely saved one. Hallelujah It's time for you to bring me home. [/hide] Still gives me shivers.
  7. Machine Head - Davidian
  8. Green Day - Wake me up When September ends. :P Just about the only greenday song I can stand.
  9. I take those things, and really; they're tasteless. You're talking about the giant yellowish ones, right? Maybe I'll try biting it to see what you mean. :D You're gonna regret that. DO IT ANYWAY. If you're really my friend, you'll let me wax your legs.
  10. Gorgol Bordello - Start Wearing Purple Catchiest song ever.
  11. I thought that bit was brilliant. This Trilogy they are doing is great, I can't wait for the last episode.
  12. If you're really my friend, you'll bite through this cod liver oil tablet. :D
  13. I wouldn't drink that much on a special occasion. By regular drinking do you mean a night out in town once a week or every/ several nights a week?
  14. Last few year we put a pumpkin out it got smashed up, leaving us a nice mess to clear up in the morning. I'm at a party this halloween though, so it wont matter. Going as a ghost :D
  15. what kind of music do you listen to? I enjoy almost all forms of music, however most of the albums I own are in band contexts (as in no DJ stuff) although I occasionally taken with some techno or dance music. When im ______ I listen to: Happy Gorgol Bordello, The Beatles, Tool, Jazz (Duke Ellington, Weather Report + Jaco Pastorious Solo work, Pat Methany), Reel Big Fish. Mad Metal - Emperor, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, In Flames, Machine Head, Slipknot, Symphony X Sad Blues - Seasick Steve, Disney Soundtracks. Rock - Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wishbone Ash. Bored Normally learn to play anything above on my guitar/ write something. What bands Dream Theater (they have songs that cover a lot of emotions for me), Arch Enemy, Machine Head, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lamb of God, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Final Fantasy Game Music, Snow Patrol, Opeth, Queen... I think those are the major ones.
  16. Meshuggah - War  :uhh: :anxious:  8-) =P~ Blimey, thats heavy.
  17. Write a song, then take all my money and have fun with my friends.
  18. ^ I absolutally love the Decline :D Portal - Still Alive
  19. My parents let me learn to drink responsibly at home, having a few beers whenever there was a event on or the like. For the most part, this did me loads of good but I wish they had let me go completely overboard under their supervision at least once. The first time I was presented with a 'drink all you can' scenario, I ended up nearly killing myself, making myself look an idiot and thouroughly not enjoying the experience. I wish my parents had exposed me to that in the safety of my own home where they could make sure I was safe rather than let me do it at a party out of curiosity.
  20. I do those two anyway :D Especially the yoghurt one, I can't stand seeing food wasted.
  21. That game is the most fun I've had with multiplayer. Light sabre duels are so much fun in that game :D
  22. Just finished portal. That game was epic. The relationship with the Computer, the Cake, the ending song. The big twists at the end. I haven't been that choked by the ending of a game since HL-2 and this time I was laughing as well. It just had a feel good vibe all the way through and the puzzles were brilliant. You could always find the answer if you thought hard enough about it and doing the jumping tricks was great fun. 11/10.

I stayed at a friends house for a few days and we decided to play this. Me and him finished this so quickly it wasn't funny. I'd heard all this hype and then it was over before I had really got into it. The graphics were good but the gameplay was average at best. Guess I'm more of a halo person. :D

You just made my day. I haven't thought about that game in years and years. I'm going to have to get it down from the attic tomorrow just to play that :D
  25. I still think I'd rather have a great youth and live off it for the rest of my life than become famous young and then die. I think being a hasbeen is still better than being dead. You can still raise a family and enjoy a normal life if you make the effort to retreat from the public eye. Comercially though, I totally agree with you - dying sells.
