  1. Hang on. I just think I saw a flaw in the Astronaught theory. If the Milky way galaxy is moving (I think it is) or if the solar system is moving (I think it is), then wouldn't any movement away from the direction in which the solar system is moving count as slowing down? Let me draw a picture. Lets say that the solar system is moving at 100 and that the earth movies around the sun at 10. As the Earth Moves in the direction of the solar system it is going at 110 and as it moves away it is going at 90 (well it is when parallel to the movement of the solar system, I couldn't work out the rest of the figures but you get the point). So that the average speed, even though it was moving faster around inside the solar system, was 100. It would be a simular situation with the satellite orbiting around earth and the solar system orbiting round the galaxy but I don't know how to explain it. This only applies to things orbiting. But my question is what do you measure speed from in order to do the calculations? The best bet would be to find a piece of space that is totally/ almost totally unaffected by gravity and place a beacon there and measure speed from that. We could be travelling along at several million miles per hour and be oblivious to it as everything else is going at the same speed. Apologies if everything I have wrote here is wrong, my GSCE physics class doesn't cover things like this. I'm just going on a hunch.
  2. If you could somehow manage to get a minus speed, then I think that would be travelling backwards in time. Question is, will it ever be possible?
  3. My understanding of time is that it is linked competely with speed. IF you are completely stationary ie. at the center of the universe then time does not pass. And at the other end of the scale, travelling at the speed of light, then time is skipped. No idea where I got that from, but I think it is correct. Shoot me if I'm wrong though.
  4. I've thought about it and dismissed it. If it is true and I do live in a world where all my actions have no effect on other peoples lives, I don't want to know. Deep down though, I know that this is the real world and it has a past etc. It just feels right.
  5. It didn't really show enough gameplay/ action to get me excitied. I think it could be a good game, if they get the gameplay right. I haven't played Halo 2 but Halo 1 was lacking in exciting and original fights. The chapter where you assault the beach was the best bit in Halo, it was fast paced, fun and different from anything else in the game. The rest of Halo was a good game, just not brilliant. I'll have to borrow Halo 2 and an X-box 360 before I pass judgement on Halo 2 though.
  6. Banned for the moogleness.

Christianity isn't about finding out about yourself - and that is a pretty big religion to leave out in your definition. Whats it about then? Jesus, primarily. An easy way to figure that out would be by looking at the word: Christianity. There's more to it, of course - but it pretty much centers around Jesus saving everyone from eternal damnation. Yea dont you take jesus as a role model and live your life around him? Which is a way to live, if im not mistaken... I never disagreed about "how to live" - I said it's not about "finding out about yourself." And still, living like Christ is a big part of Christianity - but it's not what it's about. Living like Christ is something that comes after you understand and accept the bigger concpepts - which not only have to do with God creating the laws of science but also have to do with salvation and such. Your definition of religion in comparison to science is just silly. I view it the other way round. You can believe in God and creation and w/e all you want, but if you never follow the example of Jesus and help those in need. You're going to hell. And if you spend your entire life doing sundays at the homeless shelter and are a keen athesist, 'God' wont punish you.

Damn straight. Those games were awful. The controls were crap, the puzzles were crap, the combat was crap and the story was crap. I played the first four and a bit of the Ledgends one. All crap.
  10. Thats the hardest and IMO true test of wether you love them. Wether you can let them go, for their sake.
  11. :D I think that if I ever get a tatoo, it'll be a Wadu Ryu symbol on my bicep Or maybe a nice pattern over my shoulder blades. The pain wouldn't be a problem for me, just I don't like the idea of it being for life. If I could get on for a few years then I'd be fine.

I know I say this in every book topic but read Catch 22. Its incredibally funny and it really was worth reading for me.

  14. If they believe that this shark is going to turn into a Jawsesque monster who likes the taste of human blood, then and only then should they set the fishermen on it. Otherwise, it's no more of a threat than any other shark and therefore no more deserving of death. People who want to take out revenge on an animal are seriously [developmentally delayed]ed.

Apologies for the thread hi-jack, but what would be the best Creative Zen to get, value for money wise?
  16. Banned for being a hippo.
  17. More Invisible Text. A giant pink, fluffy hammer.
  18. Guitar ledgend dies after choking on a pick. Fencing champion found dead on his own sword. Wadu Ryu European Champion mugged and fatally wounded by Granny. Meh. I can dream. Either way, I want my death to be ironic/ silly.
  19. I spend most of my time on the net yet I am incredibally sporting and I have lots of friends. I also play guitar and I love reading. Actually, I don't spend most of my time on the net only about 2-3 hours a night. I just spend longer doing that than I do doing homework/ guitar/ friends/ sport.
  20. I spend too much time on the net :P But it's cheaper than when I was going through a video game a week and I get to socialise with people from all backgrounds and be on MSN at the same time as forums. I love it :D
  21. Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons, when I first listened to it fully for the first time brought me to my knees. I don't think I cried but I was emotionally torn up. At more recent time, I was feeling really down and Love me Tender came onto the radio. A tear slipped from my eye then for the first time in a very long time. The movie crash really made me cry and I mean really cry. For certain bits of that I just broke down. It's an incredible movie, everyone should see it.
  22. I'd go back in time and take out a few [bleepedy bleep bleepers] like Hitler and Stalin. I'd also try and stop the assassinations of John Lennon and Martin Luther King and Mahattma Gandhi. The worlds needs as many good people in positions of power as possible.
  23. My music has a bit of everything but predominately it is progessive metal/ rock.
  24. I'd like to withdraw my previous entree and replace it with this one. I think this captures how sexy my voice really is. http://www.sendspace.com/file/bbgqop After getting Audacity, I went through a crazy phase of covering loads of songs. I might post them all at a later date. My Bohemian Rhapsody was the first one I did and I don't think it was that nice looking back. My next one will probally be some screamo, just for the challenge. I quite like wait and bleed so I'll do a cover of that.
