  1. If I read an article on the internet by some neocon idiot who thinks Iraq was justified, I should just discard it because it's on the internet? Yes. Anyone who thinks Iraq was justified is an idiot and a neocon jew. I mean it's not like the British thought the same thing. British government. In terms of the population, I think the majority were anti-invasion of Iraq, not sure. If not, it was close. And wtf @ "jew" I never said anything about jewish people.. So when the British government supports something that doesn't reflect on the people, but when the US government supports something that must mean the American people support it.
  2. At least in the US, European cars are expensive to buy and maintain. Japanese cars are cheaper to buy and maintain, but American cars are the cheapest overall. Automatic transmissions these days are very efficient and in many cars (in the US) are rated at having the same if not more mileage than a manual. Also, most cars you see on the road in the US are sedans. Still too many SUVs for my liking, but with gas prices as they are (were) the number is steadily dropping.
  3. Well... well, you brits wear funny clothes! HA! Seriously, we're not that bad.
  4. The dream of the American citizen: Pay no taxes and get free health care, good roads, great education, and social security. Not to mention, be protected and insure their money. Commie!

Normal is overrated. -- I'd kill my father to have something mentally wrong with me (like a psychological disorder etc.) just so I can TRUTHFULLY say that I am not normal. : I'm just making an obervation, but it sounds to me like you just want attention, which is very normal of you. No one wants to be like everyone else (well, I suppose some do), but they also don't want to deviate so far as to be an outcast (again, some exceptions). It's completely normal to want to fit in just enough, so as to make friends and be happy within society, but not so much that you lose your own identity.
  6. Just curious, what was the last one we bailed out?
  7. I can see what you're saying, but that really goes against Marx's "Religion is the opiate of the people" statement. I think you'd need to be either a small group of extremely religious people like you said or a group of atheists. If you have a group of atheists though, then you need some connecting idea or thought that dispels the notion of greed. I'm not saying that's impossible, but it is easier with a universal religion that focuses on the afterlife (such as Christianity). Otherwise, a communist society would only work using humans that are different from what they are now. Since, right now, humans are greedy and I don't see that changing too soon.
  8. Yeah seriously, this is quite annoying. It's only proper to give a short backstory in your OP. Here's an article with some numbers: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/04/business/04auto.html?ref=automobiles Basically, three big American auto companies, GM, Ford, and Chrysler, are doing much worse than the rest of the industry in the US and the government is now debating whether to help them out or let them potentially go bankrupt. Some other articles: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/business/12auto.html?ref=automobiles http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/13/business/economy/13bankruptcy.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&ref=automobiles&adxnnlx=1227042094-jrjX6759Tj/4aLAYpa2prQ
  9. Just to be clear, GM is also Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer, Saturn, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, Opel (GM's European division), Vauxhall (GM's British division), and Holden (Australian I think). Ford is also Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, and Volvo. Chrysler may own Mercedes, but I can never remember where Mercedes goes. Also, a lot of foreign cars are American made now and even vice versa. People do want their cars (granted not the full size trucks and SUVs), but they don't want to spend money right now.
  10. I'e always thought that the only way a communist society could truly exist was if all the people in it were equally religious. If they were, their greed could be focused on obtaining a place in Heaven instead of on material things. Also, the moral codes of the religion mixed with the desire to reach Heaven, would create a self-regulating society. So, crime would not even be worried or thought about.
  11. A lot of older people I've met with tattoos (2 or 3, so not a lot) don't regret them at all. However, they were very unique people, rebels 'til death. I've also met people in their mid 20's who avoid conversation regarding their tattoo. All I'm saying is make sure to take a look ahead while you live life by the moment.
  12. Just to note since the media likes to warp things, bail out means loan. I think both GM and Ford can pull themselves out with a little help, but Chrysler I'm not so sure needs the help. Both GM and Ford are such widespread companies that own many other car companies and I think it would be wise to loan them the $25 billion.
  13. What country do you live in? Especially since you have lower taxes than Americans. We really don't have very high taxes. I introduce you to research recent GDP statistics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal) The EU as an entity has long surpassed all other countries in terms of nominal GDP. EU membership requires fulfilling certain criteria such as free medical care to each citizen of the member nation regardless of wealth, race, gender, sexuality or ideology. There are extremely harsh sanctions and penalties for member countries that don't comply with the directives the commission has set, up to hundreds of millions of euros even for issues such as failing to cut overly long surgery waiting lists. Socialized medical care thus not being "economically viable" is a completely ridiculous assumption, given the largest economic entity in the world uses the system. Oh, I thought we were refering to countries themselves. Yes, it is quite obvious the EU GDP is higher. *Glances at UK GDP* The problem is in the US, if we budget for socialized medicine, we have to take away another part of the budget (or parts of parts), a large part too. It would be nice if we could cut national defense spending (army, military production, etc.), but that seems to be pipe dream these days. So really, it is viable, just not right now. Maybe with higher taxes, although no one wants higher taxes, but they do want the government to take care of them. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
  14. As much as I hate to see people suffer, some one has to pay the bill or the hospital is going to go into a large debt rather quickly. capitalism fail Become Socialist because then everything is magically paid for! Brains are best when put to use. Wow I sounded quite harsh... Oh well. [/hide] Move to an European country, pay your taxes on time, and everything will be magically paid for. If you get sick in the UK, a scandinavian country, Germany, etc... It doesn't really matter if your treatment costs 50 euros or 15,000 euros. You're not going to die, and you will be treated even if you are unemployed with 3 kids. Yet those countries have much less debt than the US. It's still being paid for, no magic involved. And it's still a business, just the bill is paid for by the government. That response was aimed at the "capitalism fail" guy anyway. I'm not saying our system is right. In fact, it's not. However, I think it's our medical industry in need of reform. Those countries also have much less GDP and economic power. Who said socialism? I said communism. They're quite different you know. However, if you don't put anything in in a communist society, you get nothing out.

  16. Not to scare you or anything, but I saw a tattoo of a teddy bear holding balloons on a 70 year old woman that was so wrinkly, I couldn't see more than a thrid of the bear. And I was looking directly at it...

What type did the Myers-Briggs test say you were? Electricity. Electricity comes, for the most part, from where, again? Currently, mainly coal plants in the US. You asked a form other than combustion and I gave you one. No need to be sarcastic. SOLAR ENERGY I've always wanted to put big bold letters in a post... Also, think electric cars, stoves, heating systems, etc.
  18. That's the quote I was trying to think of! Unfortunately, I just don't know enough of the Bible to be able to properly reference excerpts. As much as I hate to see people suffer, some one has to pay the bill or the hospital is going to go into a large debt rather quickly.
  19. I was always under the impression that Christianity followed a more communist ideology (not that Christianity came from communism, but that they have similar ideas). Especially with the whole Greed being a sin and all.

Cigarette smoke works just fine for smoke rings. It's not as lovely and billowy as it is with a cigar, but the smoke is thick enough to make it work. Doesn't taste great, though. I've only ever done it once with a cigar and I think that was just sheer luck.
  23. Used mainly for backpacking and hiking. Occaisionally, I use it to carry groceries back from the store.

If cigarettes did only negative things, why would peole smoke? Have you mastered the smoke ring yet? It might be a little hard with cigarette smoke, but I imagine it's possible.
