It's a good choice for what you want I assume. But it's refurbished. I warranty is only 3 months, I'd try to fiddle around and see if you can buy a better warranty, as it is refurbished, and it's not the factory parts. Meaning it may work for 3 months, then start to malfunction. And since it's refurbished it'll cost you more to repair hardware problems. Anyways, I'd try and find one that isn't refurbished, but it'd cost you more money. That's why it's so cheap, it's a used computer. The external hard drive may work, however I'd wait till someone posts, or you PM nadril, errdoth, or someone in Tech And Computers and ask about the compatibility this laptop has with external hard drives. OR go post in Tech And Computers, and hear the opinions of those who are higher qualified to answer hardware questions. ;) It's better to post for free, than spending 2k dollars in a year on repairs alone.

If your still able to access IE6/7, try to check and see if it works on that browser. If it does, re-download firefox after uninstalling the current one you have. If it doesn't work, I smell a software problem.

I remember albosky or another admin mentioning if there was no possible way to convert the userbase they wouldn't bother converting. User's love their post counts, if Tip.It were to move, I think many members would leave to another forum. But I think there is a way to transfer the data of phpbb2 to phpbb3 as it's on the site there anyways.

Wakka, you and I have the same programs/needs, and what bac said is very true. I have Vista home premium, and it is way better than any O/S out there. The bad reputation it got when it was released were only because Mac probably hired people to find little bugs, and little bugs as in small graphical errors. This was fixed by the summer mind you. And it is very reliable. The only program so far to glitch on me is windows movie maker, which has a faulty source code anyways, and it only fr0ze on me, so nothing to worry. The laptop he suggested is a great one for what you need. Mac's get viruses, already there is over 20k viruses for the mac O/S, small compared ot the millions of viruses(some of theses viruses only kill certain programs, not the entire O/S, or are mostly keyloggers). Buying a different O/S doesn't mean you have to be less careful. It's like buying a door for your house, the door may seem stronger, yet if you don't lock it at night, it won't protect you. Stick with Microsoft products, as said before Mac's suck huge time with games, its horrible compatibility. But since runescape is java based, there shouldn't be any problems, but still windows should prove better. Safari is a crap web browser in my opinion, and if that's the default web browser you get with Mac's, then it's my new #1 reason not to buy a Mac. Plus a PC/Windows cost at least 600 dollars U.S. less than a Mac equal to that computer. And as Bac said Mac's will crash and won't give you a reason. It makes you go to a Tech Shop, and pay money, even if the problem was a corrupted file, which you could restore with some simple free help from here at Tip.It. also as Bac said, doing certain things on Mac's only take one click as it would take 3 clicks on a windows O/S. This may seem helpful, but it is extremely annoying as I tested this out at a convention at my school. The IQ they are aiming for is more like 10. I don't remember a lot about the Mac from two months ago, but Bac sure is reminding me. Windows>Macs PC's>Macs

Yes you can. Just make sure you buy another mouse that is compatible with the Mac, and the O/S, and that it has the right and left click buttons. Mac's do get viruses, don't be fooled by that statement. You have to worry about them, you always have to worry. Linux>Windows>Mac. Then again I tried to give you the most unbiased answer I could muster up. ^_^
