Whose to say what's important and what isn't? If you're a pker, then you want to keep swordies and lobbies, if you're a miner/smither, then you can have iron, coal, mith, addy, rune , silver, gold, and the corrsponding bars. I agree with the holiday stuff, destroy it and get it back from diango if you really want it, but the event clothing takes so long to get, that to throw it away would be a shame.

Well my RS Time Is Up >> An Unfortunate Event Makes Me

Would you prefer the word bits? Every computer game is an absolute and utter waste of time. That being said, so is watching TV, and most other hobbies that people have, so I'd rather waste my time playing computer games. I do, however, realize that each and every single one of my accomplishments in this digital realm is a combination of 0's and 1's, nothing more. Therefore, to the initiator of this thread, enjoy the real world, and to the individual i quoted, you sir, are a moron. -
~~Newer Bank Of Runescape~~ **Updated again 05/15/09**
glademering replied to Thagern's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
boy yeah you know I really feel the pain of having too many things in my bank and not being able to find anything SINCE I'M F2P. Seriously, it's a nice layout, and it looks really cool, but until I no longer have to decide between dumping all of my iron or mith ore in my bank because I just got a new holiday item, I'm a little bit more in favour of more F2P bank space. -
it's not that i have issue with swearing, or the humour, it's jagex's hypocrisy. if they are going to use a word, then we too should be allowed to use that same word.

1) Documentation has become better. 2) There are more TV shows and movies about these sorts of things which have made them more prolific. The media has helped too. 3) The dangers of being stigmatized have lessened. Now you might be labeled and persecuted, a century ago, you would probably be linched. but i will agree with you because I think it is all mental too. I also think that some of our scientific breakthroughs are causing mental and physical conditions that were either non existent, or very rare prior to a decade or so ago. Things such as genetic modification of our foods for instance. We have no idea exactly what the side effects of these things are.

1) So essentially the entire westernised world is full of bigotry and we should have a complete overhaul of our society? right... 2) I was born bred and raised in teh most multicultural city in North America, a lot of it rubbed off. 3) Yes i never claimed that was all there was too it, however the first society was created so that the individuals in that society could better their life by not having to worry about constantly defending themselves. The goal of society is to ensure the survival of the species, and yes some of the subgoals are to ensure that the members of sais society enjoy their time on this earth. As for religion, well now here's an interesting thing you bring up, because any religious organization I know abhors the idea of transexuals, and I personally am agnostic due to the rampant corruption inherent in todays religious organizations. 4)A German Redneck Bigot, as well as a a British Redneck Bigot who fought the german redneck bigot. There was also an american redneck bigot who had the same belief. The belief is called eugenics, and that while being very very wrong, is also very very racist, something I am not. For someone to be born with a defect, we must take into account everyone's features, be they physical or mental, and try to come up with a norm. The norm is what we must assume to be a "perfect" human being, although that idea is flawed because it is entirely possible that we are all defected individuals, however at that point, we are just a mutation of the normal human species and we become our own normal subspecies. These normal traits include 10 fingers (my grandmother had 12, they didn't work and were amputated) 10 toes, 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 set of genital organs, as well as the libido to go along with it, and the desire to use said organs, not have them removed. 5) Everyone has their view of the world. I think that by and large, the collective consciousness has gotten it right, except in certain areas that pertain to women. Why is it still acceptable for a woman to cry in public and a man seems weak if he does it? There is still a massive double standard in effect, and that is what I think is 'wrong' with society. And yes, I have an intense desire to see my children grow up with morals. 6) There are three parts to Darwins theory, I used one of them, survival of the fittest. The fittest are no longer the only ones survivng, due to medical breakthroughs, therefore we have nullified this aspect of Darwin's theory. Yes one of the other parts of Darwin's theory has to do with sublte mutations in everyone DNA, which lead, not to defects, but to variety. An african has a different skin color than someone from Iceland, due to the varying amounts of sunlight they get and how it affects their skin. 7) Yes, I do believe the "other" was for eunuchs. It is not Jagex's responsibility to educate children in anything, be it what to say, what not to say, or anything else for that matter. If Jagex feels that it is their duty to protect the innocent minds of the children from the nasty nasty vices of Google, or from common swear words, then they have quite the gal to introduce this issue into their game, even in a superficial way. As I mentioned, the transexuals that I know, I like very much. I have no prejudices against them in any way, however I do accept the reality that what they represent is not acceptable by society's standards (yes the same society that we should "overhaul") and was simply questioning whether Jagex felt it was ok to introduce them into a game where they don't allow swearing. My biggest prejudice is againt hypocrites. Jagex is a hypocrite, for swearing in one of the quests, and then not allowing us to do exactly the same thing. You seem to be an intelilgent, opinionted individual, however to judgemental. I never claimed that I had an issue with transgendered individuals, only that society at large does. I am able to distinguish my opinions from those of the collective consciousness, and while I enjoy living in my society full of bigots, I myself am not one.
-
I simply thought that someone as "informed" as you seem to think you are might have a very different opinion of transexuals, or rather transgendered individuals if we're gonna get snooty about this. There is a very good reason why certain things are not accepted by society as a whole. See the very concept of society, from it's inception, was the bettering of humanity, or rather the cliques that form our different societies as a whole. Now certain things, such as town, and then the logical progression, cities, enabled us as a species to gather together in order to achieve several things that benefited us as a whole. We were able to protect each other so that some of us could devote more of our time to learning, and scientific endeavours, which led in turn to better societal organizations. Although why am I telling you this, I'm sure you know all of this already. This brings me to my next point. Society has, as it's main purpose, the evolution, and survival of the human species. Now due to medical breakthroughs, our evolutionary process, has, for the most part, stopped, since the sick don't die before they reproduce, and Darwin's idea of survival of the fittest being an evolutionary step, has for the most part, stopped. However, in order for the species to survive, we need one basic thing. Children. According to nature, these children come from the procreative act between a MAN and a WOMAN. Yes the same constructs that our society imposes on them. So I ask you, is this a societal construct, the idea of distinct genders, or one imposed by nature. This idea, of a man born into a womans body, is one that has been proposed by modern psychology, one area of our sciences that I do not agree with. We have created diseases that previously did not exist. We used to think that someone who murdered people on a whim for no reason were bad people. Now we have psychologists who claim that it isn't the fault of the murderer, but in fact the fault of the parents, or they were born with a defect (yes I will use this word, because if it isn't supposed to be there, what else is it?). A person, should be born, as was the intention of god or evolution, to whichever belief you subscribe, with one set of reproductive organs, not two. Those who are born with two sets, are born with a defect, since neither of these organs are capable of reproducing. There are certain mental quirks that people are born with that can be encapsulated within a certain ofset of the norms of the majority of people. For instance, people with an IQ above a certain number are considered to have the intellect of a genius, whereas people with an IQ below a certain number are considered to be slow. All people born with these quirks can be considered "normal", if anyone of us humans can be categorized as such since we all have our own unique personalities. Certain personality traits, and physical features, fall outside of this ofset, (i.e. extra digits, repeated chromosomes (down syndrome)) as well as things such as the belief that one was born into a body of the wrong sex, such as the belief that having 4 limbs is a defect, and that it would be better to have 3 (yes this is an actual psychological issue). The individuals are still people, however since they are outside of what is considered normal and acceptable by society as a whole (yes the bible thumpers, the puritans, since they make up the majority of the voice in society), they are viewed as an undesirable element of society and as such, I question whether or not Jagex, who feels that it is wrong to allow players to swear, feels that it is ok to promote the idea that this is acceptable in mainstream society. Now to tie this all together. There is nothing wrong with transgendered individuals, except that they were born with a defect (the wrong parts). However look at the contribution of that demographic to out society as a whole. Can they reproduce? No. If it were up to them, the human species would die out, and that would mean that the society had failed in it's purpose. Also, so you understand exactly what a redneck bigot is. I have friends who are covered head to toe in tattoo's. These people will RARELY occupy a job that will pay very well, simply because the majority of society is prudish. I have friends who are transgendered individuals. I think very well of them as individuals, however the demographic to which they belong to is still considered by the prudes who make the rules, to be outside of what is considered acceptable. Some of my practices, and the censors don't permit me to say more, are outside of what is considered "acceptable" by mainstream society, and yet I have an intense desire to see my children grow up believeing exactly what our society believes is right and wrong, with the odd exception where I feel that our society is too lax. Redneck I live in one of the most liberal places in North America. Montreal. Check out our fringe festivals. Bigot I'm also intolerant of criminals. Does that make me a bigot? I mean they're not in my "group" of law abiding citizens. Does that mean that our entire justice system is full of bigots?

For clarification, "trannies" while also referring to transvestites, is sometimes used to refer to transexuals... so moot. As to a man being born into the body of a woman or vice versa, you're trying to tell me that transexuals suffer from a birth defect? how about the people that feel incomplete with 2 legs and would feel complete if they were allowed to amputate one of them? i am not one to believe in these psychological constructs that our society has created in order to allow people to do things without feeling responsible for them (i.e. I didn't want to shoplift all that stuff, but I'm a cleptomaniac). And as for your physchobable, take another couple of courses in philosophy or psychology or whatever the heck you're studying in university, and then try and come up with your own opinions as to what is good for society, and stop parroting other peoples opinions. And yes women are people too, in fact they're my favorite kind of people.

of topic here... does anyone have issue with Jagex making it seem ok to have a sex change? isn't that kinda teaching children that trannies are ok? Not that there's anything wrong with them.... #-o Flame away.

you can make graphics like this in Java... i know cuz i've done it.. the only problem is that to do the entire world in graphics like that would take a sizeable amount of memory, and since it is browser based, you'd have to load it every time you played the game, and it would take a lot longer to load.

i swear. my parents swear. my siblings swear. everyone i know swears. i have no issues with swearing, be it in RS, or the real world. So if Jagex wants to allow swearing to enter their game and corrupt the little children, then by all means allow the swearing. But, and here's where I don't care that it's Jagex's game, because the people who make the laws should not be above the laws themselves, otherwise justice systems don't work, if Jagex wants to allow swearing, they have to allow everyone to swear, and if they want to ban people for swearing, then they better not be swearing themselves, cuz that's not a good example for the young, impressionable children that they're trying to protect from the evil vices of the word. /endrunonsentence

Yes if you're only objcetion to your children smoking is that it's illegal, then that is a fine objection, but every single person I know whose parents smoke and who tell their children not to smoke, tell them not to because it's bad for their health. Regardless, this is not a topic on child rearing, and while I have no issues with Jagex using profanity, if they feel that it is okay to use a particular swear word, then we should have the same right to use that same swear word. If they feel that we might misabuse that word, then they should not be the ones introducing it into this game for the poor impressionable children who can't even be told about google in case they happen to stumble onto some website of questionable content using that search engine. Since the previous sentence didn't even make sense to me, what I'm trying to say is that if Jagex wants to censor words such as google, so that we can't direct the younger children in this game to doing something bad, they shouldn't be the ones introducing swear words into this game.
-
I have no issues with profanity, I just think that if Jagex wants to promote a game environment that is free from insults and cursing, they should not be the ones to start using curse words, because as I mentioned, it's hypocritical to tell us to do one thing, and then for them to do something completely different. It's like telling your kids not to smoke while you're in the middle of lighting up.
-
No it's hypocritical. If Jagex tells us that we can't swear, for any reason, then they should be the role model and not do it either.
