Just recently i received a third frog token and being absent minded i just put it in my bank. But just now i got the thought of what would happen if i changed my character to a girl, got the princess dress and changed back. Would the dress change to price outfit?

Done this before.

I changed to a girl and went to get a princess dress.

Changed back to a male, and still had princess dress in inventory. Changed to prince when I put it on.

I changed to a girl for a little while lol. Funny how many people asked me to be their girlfriend and then were weired out when I told them no because I was actually a guy.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

of topic here... does anyone have issue with Jagex making it seem ok to have a sex change? isn't that kinda teaching children that trannies are ok?

Not that there's anything wrong with them.... #-o

well first of all the make-over mage doesn't let you change your gender if you are wearing tunic/princess outfit. if you change your gender without wearing the frog stuff, the costumes change as you try to put them on. so i think there's no reason to try this anymore..

At last, someone who knows what sort of people are entitled to be people and which aren't! [kneels and waits for more wisdom] Tell us more...

For clarification, transvestites ('trannies') gain pleasure from dressing in clothing normally associated with another gender, while transexuals are born with brains of one gender and the body of another. For many people (men and women) their only hope of the settled, assured lifetsyle you clearly enjoy is surgery. Why that should have to happen, given that gender is a construct, not a law of nature, and that that construct is always locally constructed, is another question altogether - although the answer may well be that people as narrow-minded and judgemental as yourself demand it.

One of the P2P quests requires male players to change sex at one point. I stayed that way for ages - plateskirts are cheaper and lighter and there is no better look in RS than that foxy princess dress...

More to the point, as limited as it is, RS is a role-playing game. Your character has a look and a name that you can decide on. Your character has a sex that you can decide too. You can change the look later, in various ways - and you can change the sex too. Me, I'm more concerned about Jagex teaching kids it's ok to steal, attack random strangers, value others by their material possessions or by the ability to hurt others, and dispense with spelling and grammar. Does it matter whether I play as a man or a woman? Does it matter whether I am a man or a woman - women are people too, you know...

For clarification, "trannies" while also referring to transvestites, is sometimes used to refer to transexuals... so moot. As to a man being born into the body of a woman or vice versa, you're trying to tell me that transexuals suffer from a birth defect? how about the people that feel incomplete with 2 legs and would feel complete if they were allowed to amputate one of them? i am not one to believe in these psychological constructs that our society has created in order to allow people to do things without feeling responsible for them (i.e. I didn't want to shoplift all that stuff, but I'm a cleptomaniac).

And as for your physchobable, take another couple of courses in philosophy or psychology or whatever the heck you're studying in university, and then try and come up with your own opinions as to what is good for society, and stop parroting other peoples opinions.

And yes women are people too, in fact they're my favorite kind of people.

Well, we're wildly off-topic now, aren't we? A couple of points of clarification, though - I'm not a university student, though thank heavens some people are or we'd all be mired in the same muddy thinking as you. My opinions are my own - I've known a few trannies, and a couple of transexuals (one of each, as it were...as well as some professional shoplifters, funnily enough) - why are my opinions assumed to be borrowed simply because they're informed by a wide reading of other peoples opinions, while yours, of course, are that much more valid?. On the topic of psychological conditions I'm going to give university educated minds who actually study the topic more weight than a redneck bigot. 'Trannies', by the way, can also refer to transistor radios - but rarely to transexuals - I'm pretty sure it's just people who don't care that there's any distinction between all those sick people who aren't quite as human as you, who fail to make the distinction between them.

Transexuals, by definition, 'suffer' (debatable point, I grant you) not from a 'defect' (you do use very loaded words, don't you) - if anything, they suffer from the psychological construct of 'gender' that small-minded people like you endeavour to impose on society. Gender is, demonstrably, a construct - sex (as in 'male' or 'female') is less obviously a construct, but equally so, dependent as it is on a combination of bodily parts (some people have both :o some people have none :o - or maybe you'd rather not include them in your definition of 'people'?), of brain chemisty (established hormonally during pregnancy) and of social identification (imposed by people like you).

My favourite kind of people, by the way, come in all sorts of shapes and sizes - men, women, undecided, ambivalent and more besides. It has more to do with who they are than what they are...

p.s. Kleptomaniac has a k, from the Greek, while 'i.e.' is from Latin (id est = that is) - you wanted 'e.g' = 'for example'.

I simply thought that someone as "informed" as you seem to think you are might have a very different opinion of transexuals, or rather transgendered individuals if we're gonna get snooty about this.

There is a very good reason why certain things are not accepted by society as a whole. See the very concept of society, from it's inception, was the bettering of humanity, or rather the cliques that form our different societies as a whole.

Now certain things, such as town, and then the logical progression, cities, enabled us as a species to gather together in order to achieve several things that benefited us as a whole. We were able to protect each other so that some of us could devote more of our time to learning, and scientific endeavours, which led in turn to better societal organizations. Although why am I telling you this, I'm sure you know all of this already.

This brings me to my next point. Society has, as it's main purpose, the evolution, and survival of the human species. Now due to medical breakthroughs, our evolutionary process, has, for the most part, stopped, since the sick don't die before they reproduce, and Darwin's idea of survival of the fittest being an evolutionary step, has for the most part, stopped. However, in order for the species to survive, we need one basic thing. Children.

According to nature, these children come from the procreative act between a MAN and a WOMAN. Yes the same constructs that our society imposes on them. So I ask you, is this a societal construct, the idea of distinct genders, or one imposed by nature. This idea, of a man born into a womans body, is one that has been proposed by modern psychology, one area of our sciences that I do not agree with. We have created diseases that previously did not exist. We used to think that someone who murdered people on a whim for no reason were bad people. Now we have psychologists who claim that it isn't the fault of the murderer, but in fact the fault of the parents, or they were born with a defect (yes I will use this word, because if it isn't supposed to be there, what else is it?).

A person, should be born, as was the intention of god or evolution, to whichever belief you subscribe, with one set of reproductive organs, not two. Those who are born with two sets, are born with a defect, since neither of these organs are capable of reproducing.

There are certain mental quirks that people are born with that can be encapsulated within a certain ofset of the norms of the majority of people. For instance, people with an IQ above a certain number are considered to have the intellect of a genius, whereas people with an IQ below a certain number are considered to be slow. All people born with these quirks can be considered "normal", if anyone of us humans can be categorized as such since we all have our own unique personalities.

Certain personality traits, and physical features, fall outside of this ofset, (i.e. extra digits, repeated chromosomes (down syndrome)) as well as things such as the belief that one was born into a body of the wrong sex, such as the belief that having 4 limbs is a defect, and that it would be better to have 3 (yes this is an actual psychological issue).

The individuals are still people, however since they are outside of what is considered normal and acceptable by society as a whole (yes the bible thumpers, the puritans, since they make up the majority of the voice in society), they are viewed as an undesirable element of society and as such, I question whether or not Jagex, who feels that it is wrong to allow players to swear, feels that it is ok to promote the idea that this is acceptable in mainstream society.

Now to tie this all together. There is nothing wrong with transgendered individuals, except that they were born with a defect (the wrong parts). However look at the contribution of that demographic to out society as a whole. Can they reproduce? No. If it were up to them, the human species would die out, and that would mean that the society had failed in it's purpose.

Also, so you understand exactly what a redneck bigot is. I have friends who are covered head to toe in tattoo's. These people will RARELY occupy a job that will pay very well, simply because the majority of society is prudish. I have friends who are transgendered individuals. I think very well of them as individuals, however the demographic to which they belong to is still considered by the prudes who make the rules, to be outside of what is considered acceptable. Some of my practices, and the censors don't permit me to say more, are outside of what is considered "acceptable" by mainstream society, and yet I have an intense desire to see my children grow up believeing exactly what our society believes is right and wrong, with the odd exception where I feel that our society is too lax.

Redneck

Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.

I live in one of the most liberal places in North America. Montreal. Check out our fringe festivals.

Bigot

One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

I'm also intolerant of criminals. Does that make me a bigot? I mean they're not in my "group" of law abiding citizens. Does that mean that our entire justice system is full of bigots?

Way, way off topic now...

1) I took great care not to call you a redneck bigot, but hey, if the cap fits... The fact that you live in a city that holds some excellent festivals doesn't mean you're not a bigot, and I'm pretty sure Canada has its fair share of rednecks, chavs, neds and pikeys.

2) Yes, your entire justice system is probably stuffed full of bigots - I know ours is (UK).

3) There is much more to life and scoiety than having babies (ask any monk or nun, or any deliberately childless individuals or any dedicated, humane, generous, creative, law-abiding infertile worker).

4) For someone to be born with a 'defect', we must be privy to the blueprint for a 'perfect' human being. Hmm, wonder who might have come up with an idea like that before...? (Clue - a German redneck bigot in the 1930s, for one).

5) "and yet I have an intense desire to see my children grow up believeing exactly what our society believes is right and wrong, with the odd exception where I feel that our society is too lax." - so actually you have an intense desire to see your children (and everyone else's, given the defensive nature of your first post) grow up believing what you think is right or wrong - and to hell with society, which gets it 'wrong' when you know what is 'right'.

6) You perpetuate a common misunderstanding of Darwinism by thinking that health care has negated it. It works on a massively different scale (and depends largely on the idea of genetic 'defects' that serve in fact to make some members of a species more fit for survival). Luckily, by the way, so few people are transgendered that it doesn't depend on them whether there are more human beings to continue this latest incarnation of 'society' - by the by, I'm sure some or many transgendered individuals contribute by procreation before having the courage to defy convention and recognise their true nature

7) A cursory study of gender in ancient and indigineous cultures will reveal that very many of them recognised three genders. The Arapaho, for instance, had men, women and 'other' (mostly men who chose what was seen as 'women's work' - and try using that phrase with a straight face in modern western society)

and finally, a little closer to topic, why do you imagine it is Jagex's responsibility to educate your children? Or your responsibility to 'protect' my children? Runescape is a game, a fantasy game in which players can do many things which are unacceptable in society and impossible in reality If you don't like it, don't play it. If you don't like transexuals, start a hate group, but please keep your petty prejudices off this forum.

Maybe if you lagged really bad or something. If a male character is wearing the blouse, it looks like a white tunic.

No, it doesn't. When you have stuff in your bank and change your gender nothing changes. It won't change till you put it on, if you're wearing it it matches your gender but it still looks "wrong" in your equipment menu. It won't change till you de-equip it.

1) So essentially the entire westernised world is full of bigotry and we should have a complete overhaul of our society? right...

2) I was born bred and raised in teh most multicultural city in North America, a lot of it rubbed off.

3) Yes i never claimed that was all there was too it, however the first society was created so that the individuals in that society could better their life by not having to worry about constantly defending themselves. The goal of society is to ensure the survival of the species, and yes some of the subgoals are to ensure that the members of sais society enjoy their time on this earth. As for religion, well now here's an interesting thing you bring up, because any religious organization I know abhors the idea of transexuals, and I personally am agnostic due to the rampant corruption inherent in todays religious organizations.

4)A German Redneck Bigot, as well as a a British Redneck Bigot who fought the german redneck bigot. There was also an american redneck bigot who had the same belief. The belief is called eugenics, and that while being very very wrong, is also very very racist, something I am not. For someone to be born with a defect, we must take into account everyone's features, be they physical or mental, and try to come up with a norm. The norm is what we must assume to be a "perfect" human being, although that idea is flawed because it is entirely possible that we are all defected individuals, however at that point, we are just a mutation of the normal human species and we become our own normal subspecies. These normal traits include 10 fingers (my grandmother had 12, they didn't work and were amputated) 10 toes, 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 set of genital organs, as well as the libido to go along with it, and the desire to use said organs, not have them removed.

5) Everyone has their view of the world. I think that by and large, the collective consciousness has gotten it right, except in certain areas that pertain to women. Why is it still acceptable for a woman to cry in public and a man seems weak if he does it? There is still a massive double standard in effect, and that is what I think is 'wrong' with society. And yes, I have an intense desire to see my children grow up with morals.

6) There are three parts to Darwins theory, I used one of them, survival of the fittest. The fittest are no longer the only ones survivng, due to medical breakthroughs, therefore we have nullified this aspect of Darwin's theory. Yes one of the other parts of Darwin's theory has to do with sublte mutations in everyone DNA, which lead, not to defects, but to variety. An african has a different skin color than someone from Iceland, due to the varying amounts of sunlight they get and how it affects their skin.

7) Yes, I do believe the "other" was for eunuchs.

It is not Jagex's responsibility to educate children in anything, be it what to say, what not to say, or anything else for that matter. If Jagex feels that it is their duty to protect the innocent minds of the children from the nasty nasty vices of Google, or from common swear words, then they have quite the gal to introduce this issue into their game, even in a superficial way. As I mentioned, the transexuals that I know, I like very much. I have no prejudices against them in any way, however I do accept the reality that what they represent is not acceptable by society's standards (yes the same society that we should "overhaul") and was simply questioning whether Jagex felt it was ok to introduce them into a game where they don't allow swearing.

My biggest prejudice is againt hypocrites. Jagex is a hypocrite, for swearing in one of the quests, and then not allowing us to do exactly the same thing.

You seem to be an intelilgent, opinionted individual, however to judgemental. I never claimed that I had an issue with transgendered individuals, only that society at large does. I am able to distinguish my opinions from those of the collective consciousness, and while I enjoy living in my society full of bigots, I myself am not one.

Sorry if this has been covered already (i didnt feel like reading those long posts-- no offense) but if being a transexual is something u are born with then why are there way more cases of this in this era then in the last ones? I think it is all mental.

1) Documentation has become better.

2) There are more TV shows and movies about these sorts of things which have made them more prolific. The media has helped too.

3) The dangers of being stigmatized have lessened. Now you might be labeled and persecuted, a century ago, you would probably be linched.

but i will agree with you because I think it is all mental too. I also think that some of our scientific breakthroughs are causing mental and physical conditions that were either non existent, or very rare prior to a decade or so ago. Things such as genetic modification of our foods for instance. We have no idea exactly what the side effects of these things are.
