I'm wanting to train my strength, defence and combat levels, and am wondering which monsters to kill to quickly obtain combat exp without having to spend a lot of time travelling to and from a bank. Ideally, the monsters will be easy to hit, don't do me a lot of damage, and are plenty in number. Factors to consider: (a) fast combat exp is the most important factor, (B) not banking too often is important because it wastes time, © obtaining worthwhile drops (like herbs, or big bones or gold etc) is handy but not essential. Stackable drops like runes or gold is better (less banking), and big bones can be buried instantly to save banking. (d) being close to a bank for replenishing food and potion supplies etc would be nice, but is only necessary if I am taking a lot of hits or getting lots of drops. For your info, my combat level is 105 (99 attack, 85 strength, 71 defence, 61 prayer), and I'll be wearing: Neitzenot helmet, granite plate, dragon legs, glory amulet, dragon boots and black gloves, and wielding a whip and rune defender. :?: Any thoughts? Thank you. Cheers, ThreeRivers1

When buying raw karmbwan from Tiadeche after completing the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest, it now costs 440 gp (instead of the previous 100 gp). Therefore the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest guide requires updating (the Tips, tricks and notes section at the end). Cheers, ThreeRivers1

Monday Poll: How many skills have you mastered?
ThreeRivers1 replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
I have only maxed ATTACK (I am 99), STRENGTH (85) and HIT POINTS (82). I had maxed HUNTER (76) and PRAYER (61) but recent introductions to those skills (Implings and Piety prayer) mean that I have some more work to do. -
How Old Is the Average Runescape Player???
ThreeRivers1 replied to ThreeRivers1's topic in General Discussion
Interesting question Deceiver2. Personally, I will converse with anyone. Most of the time I have no idea of the age of the person I'm talking to, and I wouldn't care anyway. I'm often asked for advice by newer players, and I'm happy to oblige. On my friends list are my 12 and 15 year old nephews, as well as my 28 year old work colleague and a lovely 30+ mother I met in the mining guild. As long as you don't beg or be rude, I'm happy to chat to anyone. P.S. Wow - this topic is running hot! I sure hope Tip It make it into a poll to determine once and for all what is the average age of players - they might need to split it into F2P and P2P though. -
I reckon Tip It should do a poll on the age of Runescape players. I know a lot of young kids are playing these days, so it would be interesting to know the average age of players, and what is the age of the oldest and youngest players. I don't find too many people my age playing, but did chat to someone once that knew a grandpa that plays RS!!! For the record, I'm 35. :)

Thanks for the advice people. Look out Cyclops - here I come! 8-)

Why isn't it worth paying the farmer? What else are you going to do with the fruit and veg you collect?

Dharok's Great Axe for Strength Training?
ThreeRivers1 replied to ThreeRivers1's topic in Help and Advice
Just to clarify... the PC games I play are usually medium to fast. My normal method is 4 x DDS specials which usually gets me past 50 damage/zeal, then change to my abyssal whip. To move from attack to strength training (once I get 99 att) I'm thinking of changing from stab (att) to lunge (str) with the dagger, but still use the 4 x specials to get past 50 zeal, then switch to Dharok's Great Axe instead of a whip. Hopefully I'd get several good hits in before the game is over. P.S. Yes, the answer to my sig is literally "nothing". Well done to those who worked it out. -
:?: I notice that Dharok's Great Axe gives a great strength and slash bonus, but is it useful for training strength (and is 'slash' even a strength option)? I know it's slow, but with the huge bonuses, it seems better than most other options. Any thoughts on this? P.S. I do most of my training playing Pest Control, so defence does not matter, just strength xp. :)

I agree with lostdreamer3. While Zou Lou's advice is good, I prefer to pay the farmer to look after everything. I don't have the patience to stand around watching plants grow for 15 minutes, or even 5 minutes. I just plant the seeds (and always use super compost to increase yields) and pay the farmer to look after them. Why waste the time (and seeds) planting them if you can't guarantee the xp from checking/picking them??? Paying the farmer guarantees your crop - so no risk, and no waste! :D For low to medium level farmers there are very few items that you get from farming that are much use to use in general, or are much value to sell (herbs are the exception of course). Therefore, bank all the flowers, fruit and vegetables etc you farm and use them later on to pay the farmer to look after your higher level crops. Make sense? This is just my opinion, 'cos I can't stand to waste time and seeds with dead crops. I hope this helps.

I'm wanting a rune defender, but i'm not sure if they are tradeable. Does any one know? If they are tradeable, what price do rune defenders go for?

Technically, this is incorrect. World 78 is generally known as the Pest Control (PC) world. While many clans/PC groups such as Heart Unit and Affliction will move from world to world to ensure fast PC games, world 78 remains the PC "home world" where you will always find people playing, and get a boat full of players for a game or two. Mind you, the noobs know about world 78 too, so expect to play with low levels as well, so you won't always be winning. I hope this helps! :)

Is luring an acceptable practice?
ThreeRivers1 replied to Kalphite_Queen's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. You nailed it SwampJedi. =D> Luring is wrong. Just because the stupid are the ones that suffer, does not make the luring O.K. -
Weekly Poll: Why do you play RS in low detail mode?
ThreeRivers1 replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
This is exactly why I play in low detail as well. As far as I am concerned low detail is better than high detail. Double ditto. I like to be able to see what is in a building when I walk past, and I also like to be able to click on objects (eg. bank booth) before I get there. It's waaaaay more efficient playing that way. :D Plus the start up music is annoying. :x -

Why Can't I Plant My Wintumber Tree?
ThreeRivers1 replied to ThreeRivers1's topic in Help and Advice
O.K. so I got my tree planted - thanks everyone. Now, if I want to move it to a better location can I dig it up, or will I lose it if I do that? -
Why Can't I Plant My Wintumber Tree?
ThreeRivers1 replied to ThreeRivers1's topic in Help and Advice
D'OH, I trashed my garden for no reason! Oh well, thanks for the advice everyone. Cheers, Threerivers1 -
:?: Why can't I plant my wintumber tree that I just received from the Christmas update? It keeps telling me I don't have enough room, and I should try somewhere else, even though I have removed every single item from my garden (which I had spent tens of thousands of gp on)?!?!? Help please!

Hi, I need some advice please. I am thinking about trying to finish the Monkey Madness quest. I have done everything apart from defeating the demon at the end. He kicked my butt last time when I tried to melee him, so I have been reluctant to try again until now. Could I defeat the demon with my current stats (click on the link in my sig)? Maybe I should try to mage him from the bridge instead, with protect from magic on??? Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks. Cheers, ThreeRivers1

Hi, I need some advice please. I am contemplating attempting to finish the FREMENNIK TRIALS quest. Firstly, I have done all of the trials apart from the Thorvald the Brave part where I need to defeat Koschei the Deathless. I haven't tried this part yet, because when I did the rest of the quest I was a fairly low combat level. What I want to know, is do you think I could defeat Koschei the Deathless with my current stats (see link below in my sig) or should I keep training my combat to a higher level? Also, in the Tip.It quest guide, it mentions you can die to the last re-incarnation and miss out on the sword, but still complete the quest. Is the sword really worth having, or should I not worry about dying in the final fight? P.S. Any tips for the fight? Thanks. Cheers, ThreeRivers1

:?: Hi. I tried Monkey Madness several months ago, but failed to kill the 'big bad' at the end. Looking at my stats (click on the link below) do you think I'm ready to try again, or should I train my mage more to use that instead of melee? :?: Also, I have completed all of Fremminek Trials apart from the Thorvald part where I have to fight the dude without my armour or weapons. Once again, looking at my stats would I be able to take him on with prayer pots and rings of recoil? Cheers, ThreeRivers1

Hill giants are fast 'cos they're easy to kill, but moss giants (or "mossies" as you call them) give better drops. I like to train in the Edgeville dungeon on hill giants, even though my combat level is 83. It's just that you kill them faster and there is more of them. If you bury all the big bones, and only stack the runes and cash in your inventory, and leave all of the other drops it means you can stay there without banking (unless you need food). Of course you could bank the big bones and save them until you are a member, then you could use them on an alter in your house (medium level construction needed) or at the Ectofuncus (slow and boring). Since you're F2P now though, you should probably just bury them. Also, bury the bones of every thing you kill - no matter what. If you walk past bones from someone else's kill, bury them. It all adds up eventually. I highly recommend the hill giants though. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I already have full rune apart from the boots, so here are my plans based on your feedback: 1. Buy rune boots. 2. Save up for an obby shield. 3. Try to get myself an obby cape drop by smashing a heap of TzHaars (I expect that will take me a while). 4. Then I'll have to finish Fremennik Trials (I've done all of it apart from the Thorvald fight part. :?: Any chance I'll be able to beat Koschai the Deathless with my current stats?) to get a Berserker/Warrior helm. :?: Does this sound like a good plan until I can eventually wear barrows armour? P.S. Forgive my ignorance, but :?: what are rune defenders and rfd gloves? Cheers, ThreeRivers1

That alone makes me want to crawl into the corner, assume the foetal position and cry myself to sleep. Seriously though, there is the cold hard fact why you shouldn't target 99, and set yourself smaller goals, like 80, then 85 etc, 'cos aiming for 99 straight up will send you insane! Basically I'm agreeing with the other posts that said exactly that. Pest contral is my fave way to train combat, 'cos you get two bites of the cherry (exp while playing, and exp for pc points). It's less boring that many other methods too.
