Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Obviously our views on talking/not talking to each other are so mindblowing the whole internet had to come and see it.

We have some of the weirdest arguments here. Sure, Ellie and Carl had a nice life together, but the movie isn't focussing on their life, it's focussing on what happens after that whole story. It's meant to build up all the happiness in their life, so you can see what a devastating loss it was for Carl when his wife died. After establishing that, the movie starts (at least I assume, I've yet to see it). Also, movie is wrong according to Firefox spellchecker. So is Firefox.

Also, on of my best friends, who was supposed to join us in our celebration, got into a serious car crash on his way here. It's not a case of DUI or anything, since his father was driving. They apparently banged into a car that was standing still at 140 km/h. Him, his father and his older brother all have relatively minor injuries, but the two people in the car are in intensive care right now. I just needed to share that I guess.

Today...
Had a great night. Biked home after the sun had come up (it was around 8:30), and the road I took was completely deserted, it felt like I'd just survived an apocalypse. What I love so much about NYE is that it's basically the only evening of the year where almost everyone goes out to celebrate, and they celebrate it intensely (read: get wasted). Anyway, to a good 2013. As an aside (I'm obviously not that sober any more if you notice all the weird jumps I've been making), so much has changed in a year. Thinking of how I spent last NYE and how I spent tonight, the difference is huge.

On the topic of lenses: through circumstances I've had mine in for over 36 hours, and while they aren't bothering me, it'll still feel good to finally take them out. I dread that moment though, because past experiences tell me that that's never a pleasure after keeping them in that long. In other news, happy New Year's in advance, because I'm not sure I'll get on here before then. Also, first!!11

I'm pretty sure my optician advised me the same thing, but I've had times where I've worn them for over 24 hours, and the only thing that's happened is that my eyes were a bit red when I did finally take them out. Not that I do it often, just rarely if for some reason I can't take them off at night.

They're bothersome in the first week or so, when you're still getting used to them, but I've had mine for just under a year now and I enjoy them very much. It just takes a minute or two in the morning to put them in and even less at night to take them out, and you have perfect vision all day long without all the disadvantages of glasses (like fogging up, or getting smudged, little stuff like that). And it's also much easier to change prescription if you notice your eyes are getting worse. The only bad thing I can tell you about them is those very rare occasions where they'll come out during the day, but that's incredibly rare and usually only happens in special circumstances like getting hit by a ball or rubbing your eye wildly. And I still have my glasses for those lazy days when I'm staying at home all day and don't feel like putting them in. Getting a new cellphone today, my current one is starting to reach its limit after a few years of trusty service.

I went on a trip down memory lane thanks to Facebook today. I don't know how I did it, but I somehow reached something called "2012: A year in review" and it had the top stories of the year. Afterwards I went ahead and watched some older pictures. Edit: oh hey, I found it again, it's at the top of your own timeline.

What are they telling her? I'm pretty sure you left out a pretty crucial word there.

Latin exam went really well, the teacher was actually much friendlier than expected and he said I'd be getting 75% for the exam. With that euphoric feeling we started celebrating the start of the holiday: chilled a bit at my home before going to a party in Bruges with the train, which meant we had to stay up all night to wait for a train in the morning. After 26 hours of being awake (and only 3 hours of sleep before that), I finally crashed here at home. I didn't even see the sun today, because I went to bed before the sun came up (at 8 am) and woke up when the sun was going down (5 PM). Now to celebrate the end of the world tonight.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Because from a biological point of view, men are stronger than women, though these days there are no certainties. From an ethical point of view, a man hitting a woman is trying to establish dominance in the relationship, which doesn't comply with our view of a relationship, where man and woman are equal. I can see it being worse than a man hitting a man easily, since, evolutionary speaking, that's just competition: a man trying to get dominance over another man so he can bang the hottest woman, but in this day and age, it's usually just a sign that a man hasn't developed his mental capacities enough to be able to solve a quarrel with a conversation, so he'll resort to violence (I'm oversimplifying, this of course isn't the only reason men could use violence but I don't feel like writing a whole essay here). Sure, this isn't good, and something should be done about that kind of person, but to say it's as bad as a man hitting a woman would be an exaggeration. They're two different things, so you're comparing apples and oranges. A woman hitting a man is less common, but should still be viewed as abuse if it's actually at that level. It's basically the reverse of what I said about dominance in the relationship in the first paragraph. It's just harder to take this seriously (and I don't mean this in a denigrating way) because of what I've mentioned earlier; that men are supposed to be stronger. That doesn't keep in mind that a woman might be mentally stronger, and the man might be suffering not physically, but psychologically. There we go, thanks for making my short break kind of reproductive in that I've thought about stuff I don't usually think about. Edit: I just noticed that the man hitting the woman wasn't in a relationship, making some of the points I made invalid. I can't be bothered to rewrite stuff though, since I've already seen enough of ethics for at least a week.

Anyone with extensive knowledge of Cracked: I remember reading about an internet community who thought that literally everyone and everything was out to get them. Like, if the light turned red when they wanted to pass, they'd think it had turned red on purpose just to screw with them, or they'd think there were always cars deliberately following them. I remember it also included Youtube videos of people filming the car behind them for like half a minute. It was either in an article about strange YouTube video genres or strange internet communities, but I might be wrong about that last bit. Please, find it, because it's driving me crazy.

I love the contrast in this post. Good luck on the final. In 2 more days, my holidays finally start, but before then I have the dreaded Latin oral exam, which I'm not looking forward to it all. It doesn't help that the teacher doesn't like me and isn't afraid to show that in the way he grades me.

I don't exactly get this. Events like that always become part of the collective memory of the people, and just like regular memories that you and I have, you don't constantly think about it for years on end. They weren't forgotten about, but there's no real point in continuously reminding yourself that something happened months ago.
