Use more dynamic poses and increase the contrast. Dark shadows and brighter highlights depending on the texture of the object. Venomai recently posted a tutorial thing on light, which went into a little bit about dynamic stances. At the moment, your character is straight up and down. Like this... The one to the left is straight up and down which is boring. If you askew the skeletal frame you're building from, you can make more dynamic poses, such as the right. These, I have found, are better to practise shadows and highlights as it really tests your knowledge. Sorry it wasn't the greatest example, but I think it gets the message across.

Thanks for the effort mate. Trying to keep this without many pop culture references. It sounds like it could be a possibility. If you want to go into more depth, feel free. However due to the apparent lack of interest in the project by some, the chances it wont go ahead are getting more likely :(

Hey guys, as many of you may know I am seriously considering starting a webcomic due to popular demand. However, I have recently discovered, as my signature states, that I need writers, and I figured this was a pretty good place to come to. So here is the challenge. Anyone who wishes to be part of the writing staff must come up with a short plot summary of the series as a whole, and write a few sample episodes, a pilot if you will. Doesn't need to be particularly long, but it does need to create a sense of a format for the comic, as I have the general idea, I am just lacking how that idea comes to fruition. Anyways, things you need to know are :- Comic name is "Undecided",a tagline has not yet been created and all ideas are welcome. - Edit: Need new comic name The story follows General Awesome,a regular guy in a new city, on his quest to become Commander Awesome.How he goes about this is undecided so far. A common enemy is a bear, with no name as of yet, but his relationship to anything is not yet decided apart from being an antagonist. Only one character has been made, other characters will, if you're story is accepted, need detailed character reviews. That's about it for now, here's some sample art for inspiration. And there is a direct link to the active thread regarding the comic in my signature. IF CHOSEN to be a cowriter,You will be working with me and some others, and you accept that I may wish to edit your script in any way in order to enhance it as I see fit, and all opinions will be given the chance to be argued fairly. All writing staff will be credited. Also, there is still the chance that the comic will not go ahead as planned, as it is still in its very early stages. In short: Write a pilot saga for a comic following a guy named General Awesome and I may choose you to be a cowriter of the comic. No deadlines as of yet, try to take your time with them, and if you need help writing the pilot I can give tips and stuff as you write them. Anyways, I'm out for now, hope to get some results from this.

It would be super swell if you used it to advertise this topic, especially with the newer, high quality ones. Well people, there's being a name/rank change to this comic. It is now "General Awesome" and has the exact same vibe. We're trying to go more original, and me and dragoonson both thought the play on words was Hilarious a har har har. Agreed, although Italy is a pretty terrible place. I'd have to say either here in Australia, around Sydney somewhere. Or either Canada/LA/New York, been to all bar Canada and they seem pretty cool.

Had a bit of a go at using the purple colours from my other signatures.

Not committing to anything at the moment. I'm currently working on making them more webcomic friendly. Ie: 1) Better graphics (not drawn in msn + effort) 2) Better storyline (as opposed to events that happen in my life turning into bear fights) 3) Being more awesome Made a small promotional image, sort of laying out the format of the comic. One guy (Captain Awesome) messing about in an insignificant town. I hope to maintain this quality throughout the comic, however that may have to be compromised, however I hope it needs not be.

(source) While this art may not be of your feelings of beautiful it may to the author and other readers. It is appealing, quality, has expression, ect. Try to make a humorous story line and have an style of your own. Though spam.... a canned food product consisting of pork formed into a solid block. I see the connection! :shock: As my artistic abilities are limited I enjoyed the piece for what it portrayed and not 100% on how it was done so. What the hell has happened to Tip.It. This thread is stupid. The guy doing the drawings or whatever clearly hasn't put any effort into them, and it's not as if it's a lolcomedy goldmine! They are mediocre at best, and only have merit if they are loosely based off of real events. What's worse is YOU DID GO THE WAY OF THE LUCAS AND YOU OVER MILKED THIS!!! It was sort of funny at first, as it was unexpected, but after every comic turned into a bear fight, it got old. I highly doubt the artist wanted to use repetition to link his comics together, that's [developmentally delayed]ed. All I can say is, to the artist, try harder and learn to comedy. To the mod's posting this, shame on you all. Except Pryomancer, he's a pretty cool dude. You are all unproffessional (except pryomancer) and I will (if I could be bothered) pm'ed an admin to warrant your dismisslol. What has happened to Tip.It.

The skull looks pretty good, more contrast would be good, maybe also working on the top part of the right (stage left) horn as it looks a bit too simple at the moment. As for a background, it depends what you're going for. If you're looking to make a few bucks you could sell it to some metal band or something on myspace, they're fairly gullible :P I'd go for a simple background, maybe a lightly textured beige or something.
