Likewise. I used to be REALLY troublesome to my mom when I was younger. Had to get one of my older cousins to live with us just to keep an eye on me because my mom became busy with my younger brother. I can't believe that I was that evil when I was younger. I treated one of my aunts (who took care of me as much as my mom and my grandma when I was younger) really bad too and RIP to her :( I'm ashamed of my former self, but I gotta say I got quite a bit of 'physical' help to how I act now. If I do game on the laptop, expect them to be simple stuff like Gunbound or something. I don't think gaming and laptop go hand in hand. If I do want to game, I'll wait for Vista and the DX10 video cards then get a desktop. Also, I can afford a much better budget (for the desktop) come next year once I get a job + my parents' money. Besides, I might be getting a 360 come Christmas so there's really no need to game on the computer. So pretty much, I need something for work and stuff. A laptop will be really useful because of the self-directed learning highschool I go to. My question now is what laptop :| And thanks for everyone for posting, it's very appreciated :) @Kinslayer, if I do get that dell, I'll opt in for a dedicated video card @Fad, no TV and I don't travel a lot

Thanks for the posts. I'm kind of leaning to the laptop right now. I realized that if I get a desktop now, it's going to be obsolete once Vista comes out with the new GFX cards. For the Macbook, I'm not sure of that anymore either. I'm not really a multimedia person so the advantages of having a Mac doesn't really apply to me. And of the 5 years I've had this computer, I've never had any problem with virus and such. The only thing I thought I'd want it for is cause it looks really sleek... and that's pretty much it. One of my friends recommended this Toshiba laptop a couple of days ago. $1,599.99 CAD? I'm going to be looking into some Dell, Acer, and HP laptops as well. edit: Alright, I looked around Dell's website and I think the 12.1" XPS isn't a bad deal @ $1,489 CAD. Just not so sure if 12.1 is a bit tad too small. I read a review of notebookreviews.com and it seems decent.

Alright, I have a chance of upgrading my current desktop. It's 5 year old and really really crappy: <256 MB RAM <30 GB HD 17" CRT etc. Now, my options are between a desktop and a laptop. Please don't tell me to 'build' my own desktop because I don't know and it's not my money so I don't want to risk it. Maybe next time, but I just don't trust myself as of now. If its a desktop, what model/manufacturer would you recommend? If its a laptop, what model/manufacturer would you recommend? Would I be better off with a Macbook and just bootcamp Windows? I'm going to uni the year after next. Whichever one I don't get (laptop/desktop), I'll get it next year. But for now, I have to decide which one I'm getting before the other. Like for desktop, should I wait for next year til the bugs in Vista have been ironed out or if for a laptop, are any good ones coming out? Or if I do get a laptop, should I get a macbook later because of the Leopard? Target price is about $1500 CAD / $1350 USD. I'll prolly end up paying about $ 2k after taxes and accessories. Being indecisive ftl :|

Same. Well, I'm going to guess actually about $150. But I sure ain't getting no GTX (minimum $600 for those who don't know) and a 21" monitor. People I know are getting Nintendo Wii and such, like its nothing at all. And I don't get close to that much with all my Christmas and birthday gifts combined (my birthday's also in September). I don't want to sound whiny, but I think people overdo it with Christmas presents #-o . I hope I get either money or futureshop gift certificates. The former so I can put TOWARD getting my new PC in February, or the latter to put toward all the games coming out in that time. $100 is pretty much my average too. My parents are hopefully going to get us X360. That's for 3 people. The frame photo is from a friend and she won't have to spend more than 10 bucks on it. New computer has been due for so long (my comp right now has >256 MB of ram and > 30 GB of HD space and about 5 years old) and it's more of a reward rather than a gift that I'll prolly get by next week. The LOZ game, I'll buy with my own money. So yeah, I agree with you that some people overdo it with Christmas presents.

I agree with that mediocre study thing. I don't see the point to get high 90s when I'm not interested in getting 200k/yr kind of salary when I get older. I'll be happy at 75k and with my wife, that's more than enough for my needs. No, I'm not trying to justify my dumbness (for the exams I know my marks of, I got a 96 on business and 92 on english). I just don't have the studious character in me anymore to work hard all 10 months of the year. Although if I'm in a non-independent study school, I'd probably have higher marks. Oh, and the only reason I bother to get above 80 is because that's the minimum grade to get into the honour roll. It makes my parents happy for some reason. Also because with mid-80s, I won't have a hard time getting into the university programs I want.

85 average last year. I know I can probably get higher than that but being lazy sucks :lol: The ones I know right now are 96 BTA, 88 ICE, and 88 HRT. They'll prolly go down to the mid-80s by the time school ends :lol:
