RuneScape Information

  1. I definitely prefer relaxed. Even just last night, I was watching movies while fishing sharks with my friends, but if I got a little bit bored, I anchored a duck or two to death in the fishing guild. I don't exactly see how the "gather it yourself" method is relaxing OR scientific specifically... Relaxing is like taking a break to play some Castle Wars, or my new favorite, Trouble Brewing. Scientifically is buying "x" amount of something to gain "y" levels in "z" time while gaining/losing "a" money. I will agree, though, it is under the more "relaxing" route of slowly leveling all levels up together by changing often to make sure the game experience doesn't become dull. IE, Training combat with slayer, and using the herbs to level up herblore that you can kill stuff more efficiently for drops to train something else (IE, Charms for summoning). I say, it's a game, and it's meant to be fun however you like it to be. If 99 is your cup of tea, go for it. It's certainly not mine, though. ^_^. (Seriously, 4 years, no 99s, and only around 7M in pure cash isn't THAT remarkable to some, given the amount of time I've played)
  2. I'd really hoped to play in HD, and all... buuuut, I can't update my drivers on some technicality that most of you would be less interested in. Nice to hear how well it worked out, though! Overall, good read. I just really would like to play it... I can't
  3. It is a business opportunity. Since it is closed to the general public, the few actual programmers and those with a high level of knowledge will be able to appreciate the level of detail in such advanced java levels. However, the gameplay has much to be improved in comparison to other MMORPGS. What Jagex really needs is more integration of something like WASD to really diversify the game itself. Meh, I'm just throwing random opinion into this discussion, but I think the high accessibility of RuneScape and the low price point really sell it already. Attracting in a few gamers from E3 never hurts. I really wish anyone knew... but only Jagex really knows. However, it IS very much possible that Jagex may release a totally new engine level soon, seeing as they could be reaching another point where it would have to be upgraded to handle both their needs and the needs of the players in-game. Of course, if they do that, I hope they will expand the chat buffer. Having only the last 100 chat lines is literally not enough for me. I personally need at least a 250-line to 500-line chat buffer... And the more, the better. :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull I like this point. The graphics itself could be leading into a whole new era of RuneScape. However, this will still be Rs2-based. At E3, however, we could see a deeper look into the far future for Jagex. With the heavy hitters such as WoW, Guild Wars, FFXI, ect. RuneScape has definitely gotta step it up to compete at E3. A hefty chat buffer would be nice, too ^_^.
  4. Yes, Jagex has confirmed that channel as official, thus, the logo is official.
  5. The ones I really hate are hellhounds and bronze dragons for the poor drops. Hellhounds may give clues fairly often, but I usually don't pull out mid-task just for a stupid clue. Still, I grit through them, I'm saving my points for blacklisting and the fun slayer helm ^_^
  6. I have to agree that Quickchat isn't my exact choice for chatting, either. However, my opinion in the completely optional system is that it's only intended to help spread to a wider audience. Not due to Quickchat itself, but due to, rather, Quickchat-only worlds. I mean, it is very helpful to slow typists to simply hit Enter, X, and a number, however, completely rendering "Free chat," so to speak, unusable seems like some fishy business... My opinion of the child-model characters is that it could be one of the ways to do one of the necessary elements of such a system. Obviously, changing the character model is the easiest way to identify the child player at a glance. The only oddities would be seeing a young child out chopping yews or strip-mining the mining guild, lol. While there may not be agreement by all players, especially losing the prize model of a character they've worked up, I think it would be one of the most effective ways to identify a player's age if such a system were to be implemented. In light of that subject, it may be needed that players on Quickchat-only worlds, young or old, shouldn't be able to receive messages containing "Free chat." Say, if a non-Quickchat PM were to come to such a player, the system would need to block it, because, otherwise, the player would be in-able to respond to certain situations. I believe that there really should be no need for non-Quickchat PMs to go to Quickchat-only worlds. Take this example scenario: Player 2 has logged in. Player 2: Hey! What's up? Player 1(in this case, Quickchat-only): I am training: Runecrafting. Player 2: Oh, cool. What level are you? Player 1: My Runecrafting level is: 53. Player 2: Sweet, 1 lvl to laws! How much xp to 54? As you can see, even a simple situation is rendered useless to Quickchat. So, what to do? Leave it unanswered, or logout and "Free chat?" And if the latter option is unavailable, you're sunk. Even if the former option was available, who would want to abandon the last few nat runs before they hit 54? Exactly why I think Quickchat-only worlds shouldn't have to mix with "Free chat" worlds. Although it wasn't covered in my letter, this just provides a standpoint on my opinion. Oh, you're welcome, and thank you for enjoying the letter and providing more insight on the topic .
  7. If the anonymous author happens to be reading, I like your comparison of the checkout counters to the quickchat worlds. As a completely optional experience, it is positive on a select group of players. Fine reading, though. Sorry for the occasional typo, I'll just try to proofread a bit better next time :wall:
  8. A second thanks to you, I just used your guide and made a nice 404k profit (624k revenue) in my first run and a respectable amount of range xp. Thanks so much for pointing out the highlights =D>
  9. Very nice guide. I've always needed one to tell me a good way to go about avainsie slaying, glad I found this one ^_^.
  10. I dont have anything like that on my mac =(, know any programs that work like that for a g4 emac on 10.3.9? id really like to do it when im cammy teleing
  11. Jagex has caused a terrible disaster now, but it seems they dont care too much as it being a bad tweak. NOw while this isnt a fact, but it can sure make you wonder, "Is Jagex really thinking this over well enough?" in thier latest post(as of now) on the official runescape website(runescape.com or runescape.co.uk, for those of who dont know, hands please of those that dont know?lets see.....0......) they have put, and I quote: "Beyond the Customer Relations team our Content team is constantly looking into ways to alter the game itself to reduce the ability for people to cheat, for example the recent creation of the Bank PINs and the essence mine changes." Now while they do not aculally say that they made a good change, they do name the article "Runescape - Better than ever!", sugessting that it is indeed a good change. While I dont doubt that it is a good change as far as the rules of the game go, it affects so much more than one thing in a bad way. Good- Macroers have been stopped one way. The six basic runes may drop in price, due to lower ess costs. Merchants could make a killing on raised prices. Bad-There is little ess to be used for all the nature crafters, which will affect high alchers which tip.it(if you dont know this website, you really have short term memory problems) says that the"High Alchemy SpellThis spell can be cast once you have achieved level 55 magic and plays an important role in the RuneScape economy." Yes, but without enough people supplying cheap 30 gp, now it being however high it is(f2p, explained in last post) may cause some people to demand more for nats. Soon enough, everone will want to sell it at a raised price(even if they didnt want want to, 500 gp is better than 400, right?) causing high alchers to make less money(even if they did rc it themselves, they will lose money on the ess, nobody on p2p really wants to mine ess, and from an earlier post saying only 15% of the ess existing? If this was to be proportionate to the original 30 gp, it would cause it to be at 200 gp each! That is INSANE! And with the normal ess being at 5-10 gp each (also from an earlier post) Some people were dumping all thier normal ess right away to get all the money they could (20-30, I saw about 5 people selling ess on a small world, about 1000 players) Now say you were uninformed, you would say "wow what a deal, 5k ess at 100k!". Later the prices have lofted in a low 10 gp value each. Now you only have 50ks worth. Well, time to go craft nats. Now when you go to craft them you cant, and you lost 50k. Now think of it on larger scales. People could be losing mills just for being uninformed, ouch. Now everyone will sell the useless junk to them, causing the prices to sink down even lower. Now weve got an ess going at 40 times the value. If it takes more time to get the same amount of money using high alch, taking more time, lowering the overall money amount in game, causing the same items harder to get, and make money have less power in the economy. There can be lots of solutions, which there have been plenty, but making it members only is not one of the best ones, just because not everyone wants to be a p2p. Actually, I find the f2p pretty fun and still full of things to do. Since there arent tons of quests to do, it helps me by focusing on my skills, and since there are so few, i dont have to worry about as much. I honestly hate merchanting and pking. They both rely on you to take advantage of players looking out to make an honest buck or some honest XP(sometimes). Some people also just dont want to pay or cant pay. By taking one of the ways that high alchers suply the f2pers money, indirectly(High Alcher->nature rune crafter->f2p ess miner/macroer) or directly(high alcher that crafts own nats->f2p ess miner/macroer), it affects the f2p market as well, by supplying less money from one of the basins of the runescape economy. Those who have bought mass ess have no doubt bought "dirty ess". So what does this mean? Nothing really. You've bought ess from someone who isnt there, but still is Jagex going to ban people who buy ess at market prices "unknowingly" so they can get on with their runecrafting for money?I didnt think so. One other thing about how unknown runescape is from yet another post. They said that it would be hard to find runescape in a magazine. It was in GameInformer listed as one of the "top 10 games youve never heard of". Now true, we will still have high alchers always ready to buy other goods, but this is not the answer to rely on something that only SOME alchers will use.Yew logs and (possibly)coal. Coal is pretty well guarded, it takes a good deal of interaction with the player/macro to get it to mine well.Plus the player buying still needs more money to nake enough of of steel plate. Plus the road to 60 is alot longer in mining than woodcutting. So that leaves yew logs. These are pretty commonly macroed now that ess is harder to get. The economy would not be as shattered if the yew logs could be chopped forever. However they can not, so that will make them even harder to get. But again this is still only with people using them to high alch, some will use magic logs, and now that nats as a runecrafted good is now dominating the market for p2pers. Also the bowstrings will be only obtainable by members. This may leave the market for p2pers to stay more on the p2p worlds, lowering the demand of yews on free servers which may too lead to the end of macroers. But yew logs I see many more macroers(I seriously saw about 7 when going to chop for some extra cash) Now we also talk about that macroers still will benifit us. They gather mass supplies with no complaint, hassle or interference of rl circumstances(sleep, work, school, ect). They are going to be banned sooner or later, but they will have enough time to sell their goods so that players can make money off of them. I mean another post(yes another one, but im not going to mention names mainly because i cant remember them) said yews dropped 300-270. A high demand item lowering its price is good for all of us. But we also must remember that macros are mainly used to sell the money on sites. No person would accually GIVE their main all the money. Now macroers may still have a chance to use that money to buy some level 3 membership and mine the pure ess, leaving them to have market on it. If the price could stay low before the supply runs out(the original pure admited to people with 30+ mining) the runescape market could stay intact by having affordable ess. However this will be mainly true for members, not for f2pers. Again the market will run on mostly p2p supplied goods. Now macroers would not do this untill there was no real way to make good money on the f2p worlds so they can max the amount of money they make. Now membership per mill may cost them anywhere from almost all of it - one quarter of it, depending on how much they sold it for. That about covers everything for me - sorry people that didnt get their names in this, feel free to take credit if you helped me put together this post. I even didnt include credit for myself for something from my last post.Which part? I cant say, duh, It would include credit.
  12. I agree with the ip ban(if possible) and I cant get my rc up!!!! I am not that great of mage but now ive only got 385 pure ess in my bank, and I want to get mage up, but i have a former p2p bank, which I played f2p awile just to get some extra cash, xp, especially rc, my weakest f2p skill, I mined about 3k regular ess, rced, and was left with 385. Now since they changed all the ess that has members items in it, im not getting rid of a dlong and full mystic just so i can make some runes. Even if they had changed it back to regular ess I could care less, but nooooo, now I have to somehow find somebody selling pure ess, waist tons of extra money on driven up ess that i still dont need because im only crafting airs anyway. They also forgot how much you can sell the gold for. If the macroer gets enough, sells the gold, and gets the rl money, they can still pay for lvl 3 membership, do the quest real fast and still get a profit. They can also use the driven up prices to sell the ess for even more, making them more money(runescape and rl), therby letting them mine more. It only takes 2,673 ess to get to lvl 30, and since theres still a market on the normal ess they can get some extra cash to boot (i mean ive barely seen a dent in the ess prices) they could of course invest the money on an addy pick, level once, and let the macro do its thing. Alot of the sites that I see advertising gold for varios MMOs, includes runescape, normally the mininmum is 1m. This can net enough money for 4 months of subscription. I think this members only thing could just encorage MORE macros since players are going to want to pay more because of the decreased number of miners causes the demand and price to go up. I seriously agree with option 2(having two types of ess, one requiring some higher combat).Thats my thoughts.Bye.
