Yeah, they say on the developer blog that they've looked at reviews and the aiming is one of the things that people didn't like so they're rebuilding it. Edit: Here it is

That's just a nicer way of saying 91% of hardcore gamers are losers. WHAT? Mind explaining how you managed to come to that conclusion? /facepalm

The major difference is that the R4 only supports up to 2Gigs, whereas the R4III does 4 GB's. The one you posted seems like a legit R4 to me, I would go ahead and buy that. About games... Well: 1. You buy them in a store (We all do right) 2. Once you have it in your hand you can feel justified having an ehem, "backup" copy. 3. You go and do your dirty business acquiring the stuff. 4. You got yourself an NDS file! Woop-de-do! Now insert your Micro SD with the USB reader and copy it over to the memory card. 5. You take out your memory card, shove it in your R4, then it's the R4's turn to get shoved into the DS (3 in 1 shoving action you gotta love that). 6. Boot up DS find the file and play. Pirating Having your DS collection on one cartridge has never been easier... Disclaimer: You may only do this with games you own. Should you decide and pirate games, Chuck Norris will descend from Heaven and kick your sorry [wagon].

I would be really interested int his game except...how do I patch a GBA rom? -
Lol, I saw that yesterday on kotaku, I must say that I was a little weirded out. There's actually a whole community centered around playing multiple WoW characters at once: http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index ... ccf5ff0255 The practice is called dual-boxing (done with two chars), 5-boxing 10-boxing etc. depending on how many chars you use. The hobby gets a bad rep because gold farmers often box on WoW for IRL cash.

I've had a horrible experience with standard earbuds (they either fall out, or completely suck in the sound department), so I'd suggest going with in-ear headphones. This is the one I had for about a year (The cord broke) http://www.amazon.com/Shure-E2c-Sound-I ... 605&sr=8-1 and they were really good. What I have now is something similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Full-M ... 840&sr=1-3, I can say that they do the job as well. If you are really big on bass tho, I would suggest going with full size headphones. http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-SCS-SC ... 918&sr=1-3 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-V700DJ-S ... 069&sr=8-1 These cost a lot, but they offer a lot richer sound than any of the earbuds.

You failed to mention that in your first post, so I assumed you meant all the iPods. You wrote that apple puts accelerometers and gimmicks in their iPods, when the sound quality still sucks. The only iPods that have an accelerometer are the flash based ones (Nano, Touch), where according to you, there are no noticable problems with the sound.

The good FPS's for the system are: COD4 Dementium: The Ward Metroid Prime Hunters Brothers in Arms (technically a 3rd person shooter) Watch out for Moon, it's a new FPS in the works by the same guys that did Dementium and it's looking great. CORE and COD5 are also coming out in the next few months. Look into these games I listed and decide which ones are worth your cash. RPG's Final Fantasy 3 & 4 (both are very good I've heard) Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass (not sure if it classifies as an RPG, but it's an AAA title.) Etrian Odyssey (Old commodore 64 style RPG where you draw your map on grid paper) Disgaea DS (just came out) Homebrew on the DS are software written by hobbyist programmers, as opposed to commercial titles. Homebrew is run mostly on so called "Flash cartridges", these are 3rd party carts that have a memory slot, from where you run your programs off. These flashcarts don't modify your DS, if you take it out of the slot, there is no trace of you using it, so it does not void your warranty. There are two types of flashcarts; Slot 1 (DS sized cart) and Slot 2 (GBA sized cart). Slot 1 is the better choice of speed and storage. The current top of the line flash cart is called CycloDS (http://r4ds.cn/). These cartridges are considered legally gray at best (they allow the use of game roms) so you will not be able to buy this in stores, but will have to order online. They cost around 30-50 bucks. Flashcarts also let you play mp3's, videos and pictures on your DS and there are homebrew web browsers available as well (do not expect much). So a homebrew enabled DS means: DS flashcart with most carts: micro SD cart (2GB=$8, 4GB=c. $15, 8GB=$40) Sites you should check out for your DS information: Podcasts: http://www.dualscreenradio.com/ http://ds.vgpodcasts.com/ News & Reviews: http://www.dsfanboy.com http://www.ds.ign.com Homebrew Scene: http://www.gbatemp.net http://www.ds-scene.net http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_homebrew Good luck! I hope you will enjoy your new handheld. :)

Now that pisses me off. Importing was a huge thing with the DS.

I am playing my way through Soul Bubbles atm, and I must say that it's one of my favorite DS games this year. Soul bubbles is a very calm and relaxing game, where your tasked with blowing bubbles through different enviroments. In the bubbles you have spirits, and you must bring these home, while avoiding other creatures that want to steal your spirits. Thank god, the game doesn't really use the microphone, the blowing is done with placing the stylus around the bubble. Your guy on the screen will huff an extended breath, causing the bubble to ride in the direction your character's blowing. Somtimes the cracks get too small for your bubble, then you will have to slice it to tinier parts. If you make it too small, you won't be able to push switches in open enviroments. Then you'll have to draw bubbles and combine them with your already existing one. Everything is done with ease, you can switch between your powers and navigate the upper map screen with a single d-pad push. Gameplay vid: ZjUZsvpg4Xw The graphics are beautiful and the physics are very well done as well. If you just want to lay around and relax then this is THE game for you. I can't recommend it enough, the only fault of it is its shortness, I'm not finished yet, but I can already see that it's a little short on replayability. I would've gladly taken twice as much levels.

If you want visual amazement and eyepopping visuals on your handheld, then the DS is not your system. (Not saying DS games don't look awesome for what they are, Ninja Gaiden is a great example!) However, if you want fun, easy to pick up and play on the move games, then go for one. I'd take gameplay and controls over graphics any day...so I got a DS. The DS is an RPGer's paradise, there are many great Japanese and old style american roleplaying games for it. The FPS's...well, it's your call. If you can live with the kind of graphics that the DS shooters have (look up Dementium: The Ward or COD4) then it's a yes, plus the controls are much nicer than on the PSP, nothing beats stylus aiming IMO. If you decide to go for the DS (I know you will ;)) make sure to check out these threads: Official NDS thread Nintendo DS Friend Codes Aside from the shoulder buttons and the hinge being the lil' weakpoint of the system, both the DS phat and lite are very durable handhelds, you shouldn't worry about breaking it.

WAT [hide=]1st Product: iPod Touch -Safari -Calendar -Mail -Contacts -Youtube -Stocks -Maps -Weather -Calculator -Clock -Notes -App Store -Settings -Music -Videos -Photos -iTunes 2nd Product: iPhone All the features of the iPod Touch + Phone, Text and Camera. That seems like an iPod and an iPhone merged together to me. Here's it's menu screen in case you're wondering: http://iphone.macworld.com/images/2007/09/hack3.jpg[/hide] On the note of the iPods having having poor sound quality, I had a 2G Nano and now I have a iTouch. The Apple earbuds sucked, but once I switched to in-ear headphones, the sound quality was more than enough for me. I haven't noticed it having worse quality than any other mp3 player on the market. Of course you could be nitpicky, and say that MP3 sucks, and the only acceptable audio format is Vinyl...whatever. iPod's audio quality is perfect for an average user, you'd have to be a real music aficionado to notice anything, and even then I'm doubtful.

I'll suggest listening the heck out of all their songs then, that's what I'm working on at the moment. :) Ladies and Gentlemen we understand that you have come tonight to bare witness to the sound of drum... and... bass We regret to announce that this is not the case as instead, we come tonight to bring you, the solid recreation of the end of the World Ladies and Gentlemen prepare to Hold Your Colour! [PAUSE] Okay, f*** it, I lied it's drum and bass ...what you gonna do!? [AWESOME BASSLINE] (Pendulum - Blood Sugar) EDIT: I just listened to Evol Intent - Era of Diversion. Holy sh...

Pendulum is good for starters, I didn't want to throw him in deep water. :P Not D'n'b but insanely heavy bass: Benny Benassi - Satisfaction

If you are looking for some serious bass lines, try D'n'B (Drum and Bass), or other varients of electronic music. Drum and Bass is a mostly underground genre, it's music is characterized by having low basslines, and fast tempo beats. D'n'B can be divided to two sub categories, underground and mainstream. Underground is the one with the skull trashing beats and the dark feel, and mainstream is characterized with lighter patterns and heavy use of vocals. Do yourself a favor and listen to the following songs on http://www.dizzler.com (online music streamers no download required) and not youtube, the bass quality is deafening on yt. A good place to start looking for songs is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%27n%27b , you can read about all the D'n'b subgenres and listen to samples. The most well known D'n'b band is probably Pendulum, here are a few of their songs with nice bass: Pendulum - Slam Pendulum - Toxic Shock If you are looking for the real bass orgy, try these: Black Sun Empire - Breach Pendulum - Another Planet Oh, and get a nice set of headphones, stock earbuds won't do justice. ;) I recommend PMing LP about which headphones are good, he knows a lot about them and could give you good advice.

Save in PNG... The quality takes a hit when you save in JPEG. 5/10.

:P I just bought Metroid Fusion at a flea market, and it's a great game...:P I've seen DS games with worse graphics.... Any of you played that?

The DSi Sound program will only support AAC, those looking for MP3 support are out of luck... that sucks. So far what we know:[hide=]DSi Specs Revealed Battery life and more. by John Tanaka October 1, 2008 - Following up on our flash report earlier today, Nintendo Japan has opened up a full website for the DSi revision. Of particular note at the site is a spec list. Here's how the new system compares to the current DS Lite. Screen Size DSi: 3.25 inch DS Lite: 3.0 inch Screen Both TFT LCD with 260,000 colors System Size DSi: 137 x 74.9 x 18.9mm DS Lite: 133 x 73.9 x 21.5mm Touch pen DSi: 92mm length DS Lite: 87.5mm length Power source DSi: DSi AC adapter and special battery pack DS Lite: DS Lite AC adapter and special battery pack Weight DSi: 214g (battery pack and touch pen included) DS Lite: 218g (battery pack, touch pen, GBA connector cover included) Charge time DSi: 2 hours 30 minutes DS Lite: 3 hours Battery life ** listed by screen brightness, lowest to highest DSi: 9-14 hours, 8-12, 6-9, 4-6, 3-4 DS Lite: 15-19 hours, 10-15, 7-11, 5-8 Compatible software DSi: DS software, DSi software DS Lite: Game Boy Advance software, DS software Input method DSi: DS card slot, SD memory card slot, AC adapter connector, stereo head phone/mic connector DSLite: DS card slot, GBA card slot, AC adapter connector, stereo head phone/mic connector The spec page also confirms something that we speculated in our original article -- the DSi will not be able to accept peripherals that attach to the Game Boy Advance slot. In addition to housing a bunch of pics of the new hardware, the special site Nintendo set up offers a few extra details that were missing from our original report. As reported earlier, the DSi will ship to Japan in white and black varieties on November 1. It will carry a 18,900 yen price point, making it 900 yen less than the PSP (both the current model and the 3000 series revision) and 2,100 yen above the current DS Lite. The 18,900 yen will get you the DSi system, an AC adapter, two touch pens (extra length, as you can see in the spec sheet), a "simple start guide" of some form, an instruction manual, and a support book. That's right, three booklets! In addition to the physical changes, Nintendo has updated the system's interface menu to reflect some newly included software. You'll initially be able to access the following programs from the main menu: DSi Camera, DSi Sound, DSi Shop, Picto Chat, and download play. The menu also has icons for starting up a game off cartridge and accessing system settings. The DSi's menu is akin to the Wii Channel interface in that new programs can be downloaded and added to the interface. It's unclear how many programs can be downloaded, but the interface does provide an "all view" button allowing you to view all included software at a glance. Select DSi Camera from the menu, and you'll quickly transform your system into a digital camera. Pics that you've taken can be transferred via SD card to your PC and cell phone. You can also send snaps between two DSi systems wirelessly. In typical Nintendo fashion, the camera will include some game elements. Among the fun features are a facial blending tool, a method for changing facial expressions, and a means of measuring similarity between two faces. The camera itself can be set to take pics in a variety of modes, including normal mode, "trick" mode, and frame mode. Select the DSi Sound option from the menu, and you'll have yourself a mini music player, complete with a variety of visualizers and audio tools. The system can remove vocals, allowing you to sing along for yourself. Nintendo also appears to have included a built in Band Bros. of sorts, as you can tap buttons along with the rhythm in order to overlay sounds. You can also record 10 second audio samples through the system's microphone for use in your music sessions. Unfortunately, those looking for MP3 support here are out of luck. The DSi Sound program will only support AAC format. Finally, there's the DSi Shop, a program that serves as the DS version of the Wii Shopping Channel. You'll be able to download free and paid programs from this under the "Nintendo DSiWare" label. Two free programs have been mentioned by Nintendo, an internet browser and a digital notebook that lets you create moving comics.[/hide] http://ds.ign.com/articles/915/915510p1.html

It's true nintendo will rock again starting october 2nd 2008
Abelmisi replied to imbackstinkers's topic in Off-Topic
The DS Shop channel will be the new DS's Virtual Console, you will be able to get older games for points and download it to your SD card. -
The camera it seems like is actually just 0.3 MP's, the 3Mp's was misinformation... http://ds.ign.com/articles/915/915507p1.html

Bad Nadril, I already had this posted two days ago. :P viewtopic.php?f=151&t=763837 No GBA slot: Was about time, you won't hear me complaining. 3 mp camera: Wow, I expected worse quality. Awesome, I don't own a digital camera, this will come in handy. SD card: Pirating just got easier. Bigger screens: YAY! But why the same resolution? I also heard that it will have a built it browser and the system's WiFi will be faster...that's awesome. It looks like the power switch has been relocated...wow looks weird. That's only the interior camera. The exterior one is 3 megapixels. Given, that's not exactly overwhelming. What do you expect? You most likely will not be using it for art or anything hardcore, and 3 mp sounds plenty useful for everyday needs. The internal camera I imagine is used for videochat, most webcams have 0.3 mp, I see no reason for bigger resolution, as you will only be viewing the 0.3 mp capture on the screen of your ds. Some DSi pics: http://www.dsfanboy.com/photos/nintendo ... 9073/full/ Jostiq compares the DSi to the Psp and the iTouch: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/ninte ... ouch-v1-0/ All in all: - No GBA Slot - SD Slot - Internal storage space - Two built-in cameras (3MP & 0.3MP) - Music player (seems like a built-in Play-Yan) - Bigger screens - Slightly thinner than the DS Lite - Just ONE Touch Screen (Same as DS/Lite) - Built in web browser - "DS Ware" to be available for purchase (including free apps/games like the Apple App store) 1000 Nintendo points come with each DSi (games will be priced Free, 200, 400, and 800 points.) - Will be available in Japan on November 1st for $179.99 - A new firmware and DS Channel/App interface - Mii support on DS Get saving, it'll come out sometime in early 2009 for Europe and America. :)
